In this episode of the It's A Mimic! podcast, a very special guest star joins the panel of Dungeon Masters to break down the natural casters in Xanathar's Guide to Everything! The funny and amazing @lilisparx teams up with Dan and Adam as we return to our conversation about Sorcerers and dig into both Shadow Magic and Storm Sorcery! The panel of DM's dives back behind the pulpit to further discuss some of the divine domain choices of the Cleric in Dungeons and Dragons 5E. Before they do that, however, they break down what a holy site or temple could look like, the depth a keepsake could bring and what kind of drama a secret could add to your tables. Finally, once that's all through, they try to capture the power behind the Trickery domain, uncover the hidden secrets of the Knowledge domain and challenge themselves to unlock the storm with Tempest Clerics. From crazy cults, to Midsommer communes, to crazy paladins with pet rocks; Dan, Megan and Adam attempt to do the Cleric and the options made available in Xanathar's Guide to Everything justice all while positing some interesting characters, both PC and NPC worthy, to inject into your games. They also discuss the merits of being divinely chosen, or choosing the divine! On-Air Shoutout: Welland Gaming Group by Matt W. The panel of DM's return to the trail oft-overlooked in Dungeons and Dragons 5E: The Ranger. This time, they are tackling the subclasses available in Xanathar's Guide to Everything: The Horizon Walker, The Gloom Stalker, and the Monster Slayer. Even though they faun over these subclasses, they have slightly different opinions about the flavour suggestions available in XGtE, and offer other inspirations for your far-travelling Rangers. From mechanical power creep to underwhelming flavour options, Dan, Dave, and Adam trade ideas back and forth for new inspirations, unique characters, and alternative perspectives on this class. Not all rangers are created equal, and this episode lays bare that truth from the outset. Like Rocky, we're going for another round against the Clubber Lang of base classes, the BARBARIAN! This time around on this episode of the It's A Mimic Podcast, the panel looks at interesting flavour to add to your barbarians, made available in Xanathar's Guide to Everything. Superstitions, tattoos, and personal totems can lead to amazing characteristics that might just make your barbarian the legend that he or she deserves to be! In this episode, Dan, Adam, and Dave tear open the Zealot, the Ancestral Guardian, and the Storm Herald to find out if they can hold their own with PHB subclasses. But don't just come for the barbarians! Also check out Adam's unnerving evil side, as he discusses skinning your party members, and a special little "harmless" cult... As the panel of Dungeon Masters digs into the newest class addition in Dungeon & Dragons, they find new and interesting player hooks, and decipher the strange mechanics that imbue Warlocks with their magicks. They discuss the patrons of The Hexblade and The Celestial from Xanathar's Guide to Everything, and The Undying from Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide. Mike and Shane discuss two of their favorite D&D 5E books, Xanathar's Guide to Everything and Faerie Fire. Xanathar's Guide to Everything is an official 5E rulebook that adds tons of new sub-classes, more flavor for character history, magic items, and rules clarifications for anyone who wants to explore more of D&D. Faerie Fire is "A stylish, glamorous fey bestiary and setting inspired by the 80s and 90s, for use with 5e", which to Shane and Mike means the ability to be super queer and fabulous in D&D. In this draft episode Shane and Mike discuss some surprising statistics found from playing with DnDBeyond. Druids are the most under-created class in 5E, and we think more people should try them out, especially with the new Xanathar's Guide to Everything sub-classes. We also talk about different ways to play Druid's other than high and mighty for those who wanted to try playing a Druid but didn't want to commit to Lawful Good. Three of the Unearthed Arcana classes that our players use in DnD RAW are now official in Xanathar’s Guide to Everything. There have been a few changes that we won’t be making to our existing characters in the podcast, but we wanted to highlight here. Check out our thoughts on these changes and our opinion in general of Xanathar's Guide.
