Mike and Nick are joined by good friend, Jackie. The three dive into Robert Eggers' newest iteration of Nosferatu. They examine one of its predecessors and direct influences, Ingmar Bergman's Cries and Whispers. With Jackie's help, the gang dives into the nuance and experience of the films' colours, shadows, and psychosexuality. Find out why Mike thinks these are the same movie and which Ozu movie Cries and Whispers reminds Nick of.

Our month of deep diving into Arthouse Horror continues this week as we look at a second Robert Eggers movie. The VVitch is a tale of an exiled family who try making it on their own having moved to an isolated area near the woods. Temptation of sin is everywhere and it doesn't take long for our family to start falling prey to evil of their own creation. (if this was not your reading of the movie you 100% need to listen to this episode) In a first watch again for Marc and this movie holding a spot in my all time favourite horror films it goes without saying there will be a lot to discuss. Not to mention that we have interactive features and A24 themed game and some very interesting and possibly disturbing voicemails. So click play and join the You Run Podcast family of listeners and unlike many other shows get involved and take over. yourunpodcast.com

Hello, Hello, Hello! In what is another one of our director retrospective episodes, Dhruv, Amartya, and Aryan (from America) talk about the 3 feature films directed by much-revered horror director Robert Eggers, whose latest film, “Nosferatu," just recently released this week in India! (We have a whole “Nosferatu" themed ep planned to be recorded and released in the coming week, which includes an extended discussion on the 1922 silent film directed by F.W. Murnau, the 1979 version directed by Werner Herzog, and the 2024, one directed by Eggers!) We begin the episode by positioning Eggers as a (or the) key figure who kickstarted the patented-A24-brand-of-elevated horror cinephiles have increasingly grown weary of now, and how his first film, “The Vvitch,” in particular, sets a template for that specific type of arty horror film that's never really been replicated as successfully afterward. Except, maybe by himself, with “The Lighthouse" (2019) – his second film, also distributed by A24, that pushes even further into the type of horror film that thrives on ambiguity and atmosphere vs. satisfying generic thrills. And then comes “The Northman" (2022). Listen to the full episode to hear us argue, in detail, about the value (or lack thereof) of his third film, which Aryan—rather worryingly—warns Amartya and Dhruv is better than his recent foray into mainstream cinema, "Nosferatu. And at last we arrive at the newest version of Nosferatu, directed and written by Robert Eggers of The VVitch and The Lighthouse fame. What does his signature style and themes bring to this story that is now 100 years old? How does it compare to past versions? Co-host Alex and I left the theater with a frankly bewildered audience to discuss.

When Robert Eggers released his debut feature, 'The VVitch', everyone wanted to know what he was going to do for his next movie. And when it turned out to be a surreal black-and-white two-hander with an opaque and deliberately confusing storyline, a double unreliable narrator, and plenty of homoerotic subtext? They couldn't stop talking about it! And now neither can I.
