On today's Bizzimumzi episode, Ashley is joined in conversation with Joanna Parker. As a stay-at-home-mom, she struggled to get healthy food on the table every single day for her kids. Joanna and her husband, David, realized that if she was struggling with this problem, then other people probably were too. They decided to start Yumble—a healthy prepared kids' meal subscription service that turns meal time into something easy and fun for both kids and busy parents. Joanna really found a love and passion for what she calls her fourth baby, Yumble. With great success from famed TV show, Shark Tank, Joanna was able to gain a lot of interest for her new found meal prep company.        In this episode we discuss how lifelong eating habits are established in childhood. Joanna firmly believes that the younger we teach our children healthy eating habits the stronger that foundation is for them as grownups. Healthy eating habits don't develop in one meal (just like a diet doesn't work by refusing one donut), and parents must be both patient and willing to help their children on the journey of healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Together we can make American children healthier and families happier, one meal at a time.       She also gives us the details behind how Yumble works and why a subscription model was key for her business, what it's like to work with her husband, Yumble's plans for the future, and more.       This Bizzimumzi episode is sponsored by Bumpdate.  Bumpdate is transforming the way we embrace our pregnancies with the first-ever mobile app allowing close friends and families to support expecting parents while they share their expected due dates, pregnancy timelines, gift registry links, planned location of delivery, baby names or nicknames and genders, children's birthdays and ages, and much more in a private, streamlined way. Unlike other apps with due date calculators, Bumpdate has an easy-to-read trimester meter and real-time pregnancy calculations by number of weeks and days. While the app predominantly targets pregnant women and parents, it's also a way for family and friends to intimately follow along their journey and remember to check-in during milestone moments and events. Let's be honest: being a Mamaprenista is really two full time jobs. But for Joanna Parker, co-founder of Yumble (a weekly subscription service that delivers healthy, delicious fully-prepared meals specifically designed for kids), it's the "mama" job that actually inspired the “prenista” in her. Trying to solve mealtime challenges with her own kids, Joanna had an idea to lighten the load of other mothers, sharing a post on Facebook with an offer to cook for others. Before she knew it, her family's kitchen was doing double duty as a test and production kitchen for the new business she started with her husband. Just three years later, the company has gone national, has a fast growing team and many customers, and big plans to expand mealtime to a happier place. Joanna joins Socialfly co-founder Stephanie Cartin for a conversation about building her business and career, and describes her journey to success, including: how Joanna learned the power of social media to test the market, the value of getting feedback from early adopters; why Yumble wasn't the original name, and how the name was inspired by a story that never got made; why the decision to pause product deliveries for six months actually saved the company instead of destroying it; about the overlooked challenge of team management; how Joanna has found the fine line between managing and micromanaging; the distinction between ego and confidence; why one of most successful aspects of Yumble resulted from a scramble to fix a last minute problem; how Joanna the mom compares to Joanna the businessperson; why Joanna and family have committed to device-free weekends; and, the power of the "word of mom". Plus, a surprise!

Most of us use much more electricity than we realize. In this episode of Optimize Automate Outsource, Ari shares his experience using a new electricity usage monitor and how its recommendations have cut his electricity bills significantly. Ari and Nick also speak about a new on-demand parking service, an air purification system that uses free radicals to clean the air, a kids meal delivery service, and more so make sure you set aside the time to find out about these new services and apps. An electricity usage monitor that does some pretty amazing things. Ari recently began using The Sense, an electricity usage monitor that detects when the appliances and devices in your home are being used. It can make recommendations about their usage and give you ideas for cutting your utility consumption. In a short matter of time, Ari's family has been able to reduce their electricity bill to just $60 per month. The applications for a device like this are pretty significant and can make a huge impact on the planet. Listen to hear more about Ari's experience and find out how you can get your own The Sense app. If you don't mind carpooling for your commute, this app could be for you. Carpooling is a great idea both for financial and environmental reasons. But it's not always easy to arrange when you only have your circle of connections to draw on in order to make it happen. That's where a new carpooling app, Chariot comes in. You can connect with others who are going in the same direction as you and over time, establish a set schedule and route that the group takes for your daily commute. You can even give input regarding the route and times to ensure it is user-friendly for everyone involved. This app is a great idea and is very affordable. See if it makes sense for you by listening to this episode. Do you have picky eaters at home? Here's a new food delivery service for kids. Yumble is a new meal delivery service created especially for kids. Not only is it a neat way to get food delivered to your home without the pain and hassle of shopping, but the meals are designed to be appealing to kids especially. Even if you don't particularly want to use the service on an ongoing basis it's a great way to get ideas for kid-friendly meals. You can hear how Ari likes the service and what he recommends about it, on this episode. Drop car is a new on demand parking service that makes a lot of sense. If you live in a major metropolitan area you know how difficult it can be to find a parking spot near the places you need to go. There is a new app called DropCar that enables you to schedule someone to meet you at your car when you are in a crowded area, and they will either sit with your car or drive it around until you are done with your appointment. It's a great idea when parking is at a premium and can save you some serious cash. You can hear Ari's review of the app and his experience in using it in this episode.
