Fashioncast®Episode #49, July 16, 2024Stacy Igel, Fashion's Queen of CollaborationListen closely fashionistas! On this episode we introduce you to “fashionpreneuer” extraordinaire Stacy Igel, Founder Boy Meets Girl apparel company and best-selling author of Embracing The Calm In The Chaos. As Stacy says, she was interested in fashion while “still in the womb,” and her history since birth reinforces her prenatal yearning to build a career in fashion. What makes this episode so appealing is that Igel is both a steadfast businessperson and a creative. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Igel made her mark as a hosiery salesperson when Marshall Fields hired her while still in the eighth grade! She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she tripled majored in design, merchandising, and retail. She soon moved to New York City to learn the fashion business from the ground up, and in 2001 she launched the Boy Meets Girl apparel company.Whether interviewing Igel, or writing about her, one always is in high gear. Igel is kind, intelligent, professional, and yes, humorous. But more than anything else, Igel is full of positive energy, and constantly multitasking like the entrepreneur, designer, and mother you would expect!Fashioncast could have easily produced two episodes out of this interview, one focused on Igel's phenomenally successful company, Boy Meets Girl, and another on her equally successful book, Embracing The Calm In The Chaos. The book details Igel's fashion journey including the launch of her brand. We found Igel's interview full of one surprise after another. This is after all, someone who has made her way in New York's fashion world through twenty years of grit and determination. Boy Meets Girl sports a Who's Who list of collaborations with industry heavyweights from Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom to Bergdorf Goodman and the Chicago Bulls. Igel has come a long way since dressing classmates in grade school!Of course, Fashioncast probed Igel about sustainability, the lack of a business curriculum in fashion colleges, and the big issues she believes are headwinds for the industry. We are certain you will find Stacy Igel as energetic, knowledgeable, and entertaining as we did! Please enjoy the show!www.boymeetsgirlusa.com www.stacyigel.comhttps://www.amazon.com/Embracing-Calm-Chaos-Perseverance-Collaboration/dp/140023493X

Stacy does it all! She has learned how to embrace the calm in the chaos!!! Stacy challenges and inspires us to be responsible, kind, and courageous! She makes entrepreneurship look attainable and exciting with her out-of-the-box thinking and then taking action. However, I am most compelled by how she educates and gives back through her philanthropy branding and entrepreneurship. "Stacy Igel is Founder & Creative Director of BOY MEETS GIRL®, a young contemporary athleisure brand. Igel's a proud mom of son @dylanreidigel, industry leader & writes a lifestyle blog, Behind the Seams™ with Stacy Igel. She is also is the co-creator and co-host of the podcast MOMSGOTTHIS for mompreneurs. As part of her entrepreneurial endeavors, charity is a large focus. She has been a chair for several years for the YSCs ILP Gala & is a brand ambassador for the NSCC's BullyBust campaign. Igel's received several design awards & honors. She is a lecturer & panelist on subjects such as social media, philanthropy, branding & entrepreneurship." When Stacy agreed to be on my podcast, I was thrilled as I am with all my guests. However, this was a little different. Her book, Embracing the Calm in the Chaos: How to Find Success in Business and Life Through Perseverance, Connection, and Collaboration Inspired me as an entrepreneur, as a mom, as a woman, as a creative, and in so many other ways. There were so many moments in her story where Stacy stepped out of fear and into her confidence, competence, and vision, making things happen! So, I tapped into my confidence, competence, and vision and asked her to be on the podcast! Of course, she said "yes" because she's a fantastic giving soul. She's been giving back through her company for 23+ years, so I wasn't shocked at her willingness to pour a little love into my creative project :-) Her book is filled with wisdom. Stacy does everything with intention, purpose, and meaning, whether it's the collaboration with a cause or her creative values. I'm so thrilled to have had this conversation with Stacy. Whether you're reading her book as an entrepreneur or not, you will learn so much about perseverance, connection, collaboration, and all the amazing things that can happen when we step into the adventure of connecting and giving back. I am super excited about her latest collaboration with Strawberry Shortcake! Enjoy the conversation! And if you are inspired, share this episode with someone you love so they can be inspired. ~Heather

Welcome to a special Inauguration Day bonus episode of The Going Beyond Podcast! I know there is still a lot of uncertainty around what could happen, and even more could unfold by the time this episode releases, but I felt the need to share several voices of hope on this day and in the days following. The theme of this episode is leadership, specifically what it means to have not only a woman, but a woman of color and a mother sitting in the Vice President’s chair. To help me gain perspective on what this powerful moment means amid a challenging time, I’ve tapped into my circle of women who inspire me, all of whom come from a variety of backgrounds, to share with us what it means to have Kamala Harris in the White house from a personal, professional, political, and humanitarian perspective.First, you’ll hear a bit from me about my reaction to the storming of Capitol Hill in addition to what it means to have woman like Kamala Harris in the White House, and then you’ll hear from these four incredible women:Jenny Greenstein - Founder of Your Soul Style, which fuses style and mindfulness to empower women to live in full alignment while creating their own personal authentic style.Melanie Chandra - Actress, writer and producer who creates stories about powerful women. She is also an advocate for women of all colors in the entertainment industry.Niurka Maldonado - Founder of Connected Kindred, a practice that helps caretakers, especially mothers, by working through their past traumas and limiting thought patterns to create an om environment.Stacy Igel - Founder and Creative Director of young contemporary athleisure brand Boy Meets Girl, her blog “Behind the Scenes with Stacy Igel”, and the Moms Got This Podcast. Confession, I originally recorded this conversation prior to the events of Capitol Hill, and I decided to re-record my piece on January 12th to add additional perspective after the devastating events of that day. On this momentous day, I hope this episode sparks a light of optimism and understanding that while hate certainly exists in our country today, there’s hope for compassion and humanity to win in the days, months, and years ahead.
Stacy Igel and Michelle Park return with season 3 of Moms Got This. On this episode, they introduce a new format to the show as well as dive into their personal journeys as mothers. This episode is brought to you by Super Soccer Stars, NYC's #1 youth educational soccer program for over 20 years. Super Soccer Stars teaches soccer in a fun, non-competitive, educational environment. The philosophy is to use soccer to nurture physical and social skills, build self-confidence, and develop teamwork in every class. What makes Super Soccer Stars different from other programs? They use low kid-to-coach ratios to ensure that each child gets individual attention in every class. Ratios start as low as 5:1, less than half what other team sport programs offer. Children will also be grouped together in age-specific curriculums, meaning your kids will play with other kids their age. You don't have to worry about your 3 year old playing against a 6 year old, so they can learn at their own pace. Super Soccer Stars highly trained and experienced coaches undergo ongoing seasonal training and hold coaching certifications from soccer's top governing bodies. Lastly, Super Soccer Stars has a crib-to-college approach. From Parent & Me, to educational classes, to advanced development and travel programs with Soccer Stars United, there is a program for every stage of play for kids ages 1-18. Come try a class or camp with Super Soccer Stars this Spring and Summer. For our listeners only, use promo code MOMSGOTSOCCER and save $25 off any class or camp where Super Soccer Stars takes direct enrollment. Hurry, this offer is only good for the month of March. See how much your kids will learn and grow, all while having endless fun!
