Lance Weaver has done an immense amount of research—enough for me to put him on the Show. An experienced geologist, Lance shows through modeling where he believes the settlements of Zarahemla, the Land of Mulek, and other sites existed. Known trade routes in Mexico, the American Southwest, and all the way to New York can show common travel by the Nephites. And just for fun, we look at the dating of the Pharaohs, and how dating and numbers cause problems for history. Website- www.cwicmedia.com Lance's website - gatheredin.one
This episode is part 14 in a series going through the story of the Book of Mormon. This episode covers the first three chapters of the book of Mosiah. He will speak to the people to pass the throne to his son also named Mosiah. It had been 600 years since Lehi left Jerusalem. Many of the Nephites were not righteous anymore. Samuel the Lamanite came to Zarahemla to preach to the people and prophecy of the signs of Jesus birth. He said there would be a night a day and a night as bringt as noon day. Some believed, but most did not and even tried to kill Samuel. 5 years passed and the unbelievers started to say the time had passed. They set a date that they would kill all the believers if the sign did not come. When Nephi, the prophet, saw how wicked the people had become he prayed all day. God told him that very night the sign would be given. Jesus would be born. That very night the sun went down but it was as light as noon day. The next day the sun rose again and they knew that was the day Jesus was born. A new star could be seen in the sky. When prophets speak today, They are teaching us the things Heavenly Father wants us to know. Even if it takes a long time for those promises to be fulfilled, If we believe, we will be safe.

Samuel the Lamanite was called to preach repentance to the Nephites who were not obeying God or following his teachings. Some Nephites repented, most got angry and tried to hurt Samuel by shooting arrows at him or throwing rocks at him. Samuel was not afraid, He was obeying God and that mattered most to him. Samuel prophesied many things to the Nephites including the signs of his birth, which would happen in 5 years. Samuel left and was never heard of around Zarahemla again. Everything Samuel prophesied came true. He was a prophet of God.
A Lamanite prophet named Samuel appears among the Nephites around 6 BC. His mission is to call the Nephites to repentance amidst their deepening wickedness. Despite being thrown out of the city of Zarahemla, Samuel returns, climbing the city wall and delivers God's warnings and predictions. Samuel boldly prophesies of the coming of Jesus Christ and the devastating consequences for the Nephites if they do not repent. His bold declarations included the appearance of a new star, other miraculous signs in the heavens, and a period of three days of darkness at the time of Christ's death. Samuel's words were met with a mix of belief and violent rejection, leading to a miraculous escape from Zarahemla. The episode concludes with Samuel's powerful message of repentance and the eventual fulfillment of his prophecies, setting the stage for the coming of Christ and the subsequent transformation of the Nephite and Lamanite societies.

In this episode, we recount the poignant journey of Nephi, the son of Helaman, as he returns to Zarahemla after six years of missionary work in the north. Shocked by the rampant wickedness and corruption of the Nephites, Nephi laments the state of his people. Witness Nephi's heartfelt prayer from his garden tower, which draws a curious crowd. Seizing the moment, Nephi passionately calls for repentance, condemning the influence of the Gadianton robbers who have seized power. His plea is a stark reminder of the consequences of turning away from God's commandments. The episode captures Nephi's sorrow and determination as he confronts the corrupt judges and delivers a powerful sermon, urging the Nephites to return to righteousness. Join us for an intense exploration of faith, prophecy, and the relentless pursuit of truth in the face of overwhelming adversity.

The Nephite society faces political instability following the death of Chief Judge Pahoran, leading to contentious elections and the rise of rebellion. As political factions vie for power, Kishkumen's secretive band of murderers emerges, culminating in the assassination of Pahoran and his successor. Meanwhile, Coriantumr, an apostate Nephite, leads a massive Lamanite army to a surprising victory over Zarahemla, only to be outmaneuvered by Moronihah's strategic brilliance. Amidst the chaos, Helaman's sons, Nephi and Lehi, embark on a mission to preach the gospel. Their efforts lead to astonishing conversions among the Lamanites, who surpass the Nephites in righteousness. However, the Gadianton robbers infiltrate Nephite society, driving it into deeper corruption while the Lamanites strive to eradicate the band from their midst. Despite brief periods of peace and prosperity, the Nephites' increasing wickedness and the rise of secret combinations spell impending doom. This episode highlights the stark contrast between the declining Nephite nation and the spiritually ascending Lamanites, emphasizing themes of repentance, righteousness, and the power of faith amidst adversity.

The 16th year of the reign of the judges marks a significant period of peace after a devastating war, as the Nephites and the children of Ammon recover and honor the law of Moses. However, this tranquility is shattered in the 17th year by the emergence of Korihor, an eloquent Antichrist who preaches against the coming of Christ and the teachings of the prophets. Korihor's persuasive rhetoric leads many Nephites astray, but he faces resistance from the people of Ammon and the high priests in various lands. Ultimately, he is brought before Alma, who challenges Korihor's beliefs and, after a dramatic confrontation, strikes him dumb. Korihor confesses his deceit, revealing that he was influenced by the devil. As Korihor wanders, begging for food, his story serves as a cautionary tale, emphasizing that Satan abandons his followers in times of need. Meanwhile, Alma and his missionary companions prepare to counter the growing apostasy among the Zoramites, showcasing the enduring battle between faith and falsehood in the land of Zarahemla.

June 10-16 I've always loved Alma chapter 5. It could be taken as the most introspective chapter in all of holy writ. Alma asks more than 40 questions of his listeners and really wants them to probe their spirituality in a deep way. But Alma wasn't just talking to the people in Zarahemla—he is talking to us. So, to put it in our language and context today: If you have received a witness of this great work, if you have felt those wonderful feelings of the Spirit in your life, if you came to know something was true at some point in your life; can you feel so now? Let's explore Alma's teachings together.
An in-depth study of Alma 5-7. This lesson focuses on Alma's discourses in the cities of Zarahemla and Gideon, bringing about the mighty change of heart, being born again, having Christ's image engraven in our countenances, singing the song of redeeming love, being stripped of pride, teaching with passion, plainness, and permission; the infinite atonement, perfect empathy, and more.
Alma 5-7 are Alma's words and sermons to the people and cities of the Nephites. Why does he leave the chief judgment seat to go preach as the Church's high priest? What are the problems he is seeing in the Nephite church? What are the solutions? And how do they relate to the modern church? In this episode, BYU professors Dana Pike, Avram Shannon, Shon Hopkin, and Daniel Becerra explore these questions in an inspiring scripture conversation.
Alma the younger (who was not a young man) and the sons of Mosiah rebel against their fathers and against the church. They go around Zarahemla teaching people not to believe in Christ and not to believe the words of Alma the High Priest. They are having a lot of success leading people away from the church. God hears the prayers of the people of the church and the prayers of Alma and an angel comes and speaks with a voice of thunder that shakes the earth! He commands Alma to stop. Alma cannot speak or move his arms or legs. His father rejoices and knows this is an answer to his prayers! He gathers the people of the church and they and the priest fast and pray for 3 days for God to open Alma's mouth. Alma arises after 3 days and teaches the people about Christ. He and the sons of Mosiah spend the rest of their lives as missionaries “zealously” striving to repair the damage they have done to the church. They are instruments in the hands of God bringing many to the church! They do not want any to feel the dark, despair, the burning that Alma felt before he felt God's forgiveness and redeeming love.
From Come Follow Me: "After nearly three generations of living in separate lands, the Nephites were one people again. Limhi's people, Alma's people, and Mosiah's people—even the people of Zarahemla, who were not descended from Nephi—were now all “numbered with the Nephites” (Mosiah 25:13). Many of them also wanted to become members of the Lord's Church, as Alma's people had. So all those who “were desirous to take upon them the name of Christ” were baptized, “and they were called the people of God” (Mosiah 25:23–24). After years of conflict and captivity, it seemed that the Nephites would finally enjoy a period of peace. But before long, unbelievers began persecuting the Saints. What made this especially heartbreaking was that many of these unbelievers were the believers' own children—the “rising generation” (Mosiah 26:1), including the sons of Mosiah and one son of Alma. The account tells of a miraculous visit of an angel. But the true miracle of this story is not just about angels appearing to wayward sons. Conversion is a miracle that, in one way or another, needs to happen in all of us."Support the Show:www.patreon.com/SaintsintheSouth(The thoughts, ideas, and beliefs we express on this channel do not officially represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This week we are studying “In the Strength of the Lord” Mosiah 7–10 (Zeniff, Ammon, King Limhi) We learn about a man named zeniff who decided to take a group of people and leave Zarahemla and head back to the land of Nephi. Well now it's been like 80 years and no one has heard from Zeniff's group and Ammon wants to go check on them. When he finds them, they are led by a man name King Limhi and the people are in bondage to the Lamanites. King Limhi found plates in a land of bones. He is happy to learn along Mosiah is a prophet. The children will learn: When I am weak, the Lord can strengthen me. God has given us prophets, seers, and revelators. God helped people in the scriptures, and He can help me. I can face my challenges “in the strength of the Lord.” If you are new here…. Welcome to the Come Follow Me Kids Podcast! This is a scripture study podcast for children. Our Mothers Knew It with Maria EckersleyA Creative Study of Come, Follow MeBook of Mormon [MOSIAH 7-10] Insights“In the Strength of the Lord”May 6 - May 12, 2024WEEK 19: SUMMARY=================Lesson Summary:This week's study spans several decades, and we find out what happened to Zeniff's group after they left Zarahemla for the land of Nephi. We'll study the incredible motives of Ammon, a descendant of Zarahemla, as well as the humility of Limhi, who gratefully accepts his help. We'll also go back in time to read Zeniff's record. His words will teach us about the slippery slope to bondage and the risks of being over-zealous. However, the overarching message of the Savior's deliverance runs through each chapter.Questions to Consider:MOSIAH 7:15 | These seem to be counterpoints to Benjamin's description of his rule. Are there other contrasts that Zeniff might appreciate?MOSIAH 7:25 | Why is fallen a good word choice here? It's almost like the “natural man” is susceptible to the cosmic gravity of the world without GodMOSIAH 7:18-19 | How can you genuinely rejoice in the hope of deliverance? What does this combination of assured deliverance and effectual struggle teach us about Heavenly Father's plan? What does verse 33 of chapter 7 add to this idea?CHAPTERS=========00:00:13 INSIGHTS INTRODUCTION00:06:41 SPARK 1: THE OTHER AMMON00:15:16 SPARK 2: THE BEST INTENTIONS00:26:26 SPARK 3: THE OVER ZEALOUS PRODIGAL00:35:55 QUESTIONS00:40:49 WRAP UPLINKS=====ETSY Printables: https://meckmom.etsy.comWEB: https://www.gather.meckmom.comINSTAGRAM: Instagram @meckmomlifePODCAST: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST DISCLAIMER=================================This podcast represents my own thoughts and opinions. First we'll study Enos' wrestle before the Lord and understand the power of prayer. Next, we'll watch the small plates change hands multiple times from Enos' son Jarom through many generations. We'll also study the exodus of the righteous Nephites from the land of Nephi into the land of Zarahemla. Finally we'll jump hundreds of years in time to study the words of Mormon and understand the far-reaching miracles of God's plan for the Book of Mormon.Questions to Consider:Enos 1:6-7 & 16-17 | How does an increase in personal testimony allow you to stop asking how things will happen and find rest in God's timetable?Enos 1:20 | What does it mean to have a “fixed hatred” and how does that stem from letting our “evil nature” dominate?Jarom 1:4 | What does it mean to have a stiff neck? Welcome to the weekly MormonNewsRoundup where Al & Dives ruminate on the great and spacious Beehive!
Welcome brothers and sisters to Mormon Movie Reviews: Where LDS movie lovers belong! I am your humble host, Dives EP 77 - Passage to Zarahemla (2007) Running time: 1hr 35min Rating: pg 13 Genre: Adventure/Drama This review works best if you have seen this film before, though that is not required. Synopsis Passage to Zarahemla" is a 2003 fantasy adventure film directed by Chris Heimerdinger. The story revolves around two teenagers, Chris and Clay, who find themselves unexpectedly transported back in time to ancient America, where they encounter the Nephites and Lamanites, two warring factions from the Book of Mormon. The film begins with Chris, a troubled teenager struggling with the recent loss of his parents, and Clay, his rebellious younger brother. After an argument with their foster parents, the brothers run away from home and embark on a journey that leads them to an unexpected portal in the woods. Upon entering the portal, they find themselves in the ancient land of Zarahemla. In Zarahemla, Chris and Clay are separated, each encountering different groups of people. Chris meets a kind-hearted Nephite girl named Zarahemla, while Clay is captured by the Lamanites, the enemies of the Nephites. As Chris and Zarahemla embark on a quest to rescue Clay and find a way back home, they must navigate the dangers of the ancient world and confront their own inner demons. Throughout their journey, Chris and Zarahemla learn important lessons about courage, friendship, and faith. They discover the power of forgiveness and redemption as they strive to overcome the challenges they face. Along the way, they encounter various characters from the Book of Mormon, including the righteous prophet Alma and the villainous Amalickiah. As the film reaches its climax, Chris and Zarahemla must confront Amalickiah and his army in a final showdown to save Clay and return home. With the help of their newfound allies, they are able to defeat Amalickiah and find their way back to the present day. "Passage to Zarahemla" is a heartwarming tale that combines elements of fantasy, adventure, and spirituality. While the film's low budget is evident in its production values, the storyline and lame performances from the cast add to its shortcomings. The film laughably brings the world of the Book of Mormon to life, offering viewers a glimpse into the ancient civilization of the Nephites and Lamanites. Overall, "Passage to Zarahemla" is an uplifting and but not at all entertaining film that is sure to resonate with audiences of all ages. While it may not have the polish of a big-budget Hollywood production, its heartfelt message and engaging storyline make it a worthwhile watch for anyone looking for a howlingly bad cinematic experience. Truly terrible film. Absolutely nothing redeemable. They ought to put a warning on movies like this. When it comes to the passage of Zarahemla, I'd like to put the DVD into the time portal near Leeds Utah so that no one ever watches it again. As the only named Lamanite called to prophesy unto the Nephites, Samuel serves as a memorable figure in the Book of Mormon. Not only did he risk his life to preach repentance unto the Nephites from the wall of Zarahemla, but he also detailed vital signs of the birth and death of Jesus Christ. In this episode, Dr. Frank Judd Jr. discusses his chapter “Samuel the Lamanite and Prophecies Fulfilled,” from the Book of Mormon Academy volume Samuel the Lamanite—That Ye Might Believe. Professor Judd discusses Samuel's prophecies of the Savior and a possible connection with the Joseph Smith Translation. These signs were so crucial to our understanding of these events that the resurrected Lord commanded Nephi to include all of them in the record (see 3 Nephi 23:9—13). In studying these words, we “might have glad tidings” (Helaman 13:7) unto our souls much like Samuel intended.
