His productions consist of raw house works that lend a keen nod to evident Chicago sound he loves so much. The acclaim isn't solely coming from the dancefloor however, with BBC Radio One picking up on Chris as one to watch. For podcast number 11, we welcome fellow Leeds fledgeling and close friend; Louche resident Bruno Schmidt. In Bruno’s own words, this podcast is “"a selection of old and new tracks that I've picked out as a result of the lovely burst of spring we’ve had, with nothing more than sunshine and good times in mind" **Bruno Schmidt** Bruno first became excited by electronic music in early 2007 by Cambridge's longest running house and techno tastemakers, The Priory, who are responsible for throwing the highest quality underground do's for 6 years strong. Their monthly endeavor gave him a small yet accelerated window into the industry and the music from a place where it was otherwise invisible. Simultaneously, he was given remarkable chance to view greats such as Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, Luke Slater and Andrew Weatherall, all within the confines of a small, lowlit 200 capacity venue. Although always music lover at heart, it was this time that his tastes began to spawn into what they are today. Next step was Leeds and the with the combination of an uninspiring degree, a dusted over pair of decks in his student lodgings and an extremely versatile music scene, it wasn't long before he found himself alone for days on end, exploring the four corners of dance music, experimenting with various styles and developing his sound. Blown away by Performances from Louche favorites Seth Troxler and Miss Fitz opening it's second year, he swiftly made contact, first promoting, before eventually muscling his way onto the roster, becoming Louche's newest and youngest resident. After an internship in the press department at London's infamous Fabric in early 2010, he decided to pursue an interest in the journalistic side of the industry and has since taken the reigns as wordsmith, providing consistent new music media for the website. Whilst groovy, hypnotic house cuts structure many of Bruno's set, his tastes are deeply eclectic and he continually strives to be the true musical fanatic, exhaustively searching for new flavours and never letting his sound become stagnant. Expect bootlegs, classics, and a fair few of his own edits! http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/brunoschmidt http://soundcloud.com/bruno-schmidt

For the 9th Episode of our podcast series we welcome a deep mix from the man behind Fullbar, Arthur Barr. It showcases current and forthcoming releases from the now 2 year running label. **About Fullbarr** Northern label Fullbarr already has a reputation to belie its young age; one that eschews hype and big names for sonic freshness and musical maturity. “It’s all a bit of fun,” says founder Arthur Barr in a typically self-effacing style. “But it’s also a labour of love. I really want to continue to build on this little collective and want to continue expressing my eclectic tastes.” So far the likes of Brendon Moeller, fast rising talents Samaan and Youandewan, Classic boss Luke Solomon and German minimalist Losoul have all chipped in to Fullbarr’s small but well formed back catalogue, joining the dots been deepest dub, groove-laden house and moody techno. But don’t just take my word for it: check the tracklists of people like Seth Troxler, Xhin, Paul Woolford, The Revenge and many more high profile spinners, all of whom found space for a Fullbarr track or two in their sets this past year. From seedy teenage beginnings swigging vodka and providing beats at Ibizan strip joints ,to skilful A&R and respected head of a burgeoning label, Arthur Barr is the man behind all this, and is now curating his first compilation. “I wanted to encapsulate the label in 70 minutes” states the twenty something from Bradford. “I am hoping it may provoke people into further exploring the back catalogue as I will be giving it away on various blogs and in certain clubs and record stores around Europe.” Hung up on the idea of organic growth rather than social media saturation, Fullbarr puts as much focus on vinyl presses, nice artwork and close connections with artists - on both personal and professional levels - as anything else. Naturally, that means the most important thing is the music, and whether it makes the boss feel something, rather than how many units it may or may not shift. “The label and I are inspired and influenced by good liquor, sunrises, friends, Soma, Smallville and a whole load of other stuff that doesn’t matter” says the boss, before shining a light on the coming months. “Watch out for releases from Luke Solomon, Losoul, Kalabrese, Samaan, Vince Watson, Immer, San Soda, Hans Berg and Le Jockey, all in the first half of 2012.” Have a listen and get taken on a journey through the deep hypnotic sound of Fullbarr releases current and upcoming...

I am ready for a holiday as I had a lot of work to do both creative and administrative preparing my album "Fragments" on Best Works Records which is to be released in may 2012. BSU > You have a number of projects constantly on the go, such as running the Best Works label and producing solo material... how did you first get involved in the industry? If I am honest I started my career playing trance records in the early 90ies :) and then moving on to hip hop and finally house... BSU > What is your most memorable experience of your career so far? My most memorable moment was 1995 buying records in London. the stores in London had a totally different music selection compared to the stores in Berlin. The day I came back from London I played all the fresh tunes on a party in Frankfurt/Oder and the crowd went mad. The tune of the night was "Everybody be somebody" from Ruffneck. BSU > What inspires you? Everything that touches me in my life from bad weather to very personal emotions. BSU > In your mind, is there one album that you feel everyone should listen to at some point in their life and what is it? Kate Bush "Kick Inside", Radiohead "In Rainbows", Massive Attack "Protection", Talk Talk "Laughing Stock", Joni Mitchel "Both Sides Now",... BSU > Butter Side Up prides itself on its eclectic taste in music, what can we expect from your set on Friday? A journey from deephouse to techhouse and back with a touch of disco. BSU> Who are you looking up to at the moment? Can you tell us something about you that not many people know? I like to keep certain things private :) BSU > What can we expect from you in the future? As above mentioned my album incl. a double cd and two 12"es and of course a few new eps and remixes. Thanks Andre, see you on the 13th!

Seeking the creative release from the mounting pressures of their opposing kin, The Dead Rose Music Company have chosen to keep their identities a secret as protection from reprisals from their families. Escaping the conflict, TDRMC were brought together whilst digging through crates of old vinyl following the disco revolt. It was a chance meeting over a record that led to this forbidden union. Meeting in secret to share tales of disco beats and dance floor treats, TDRMC began an obsession with rhythmic movement and music through the ages. Maintaining the secret and the façade of the feud they began to DJ at secret venues, playing for hours to the thronging masses, introducing different genres to one another, testing the water and lowering the barriers and conceptions of genre constraint “who says we can’t play disco with techno? If it’s a great record then we will play it in the context of seeing the dance floor swell to the dark bass and ethereal strings”.
