Astrofever Radio is a monthly Radio Show annexed to Astrofever Records, an independent record label from Casablanca, Morocco. The sound of Astrofever Radio stems from a broad musical palette, maintaining a wide spectrum and focusing on good music regardless of genres. Curated by Casablanca-born and based Producer, DJ, and label head Mouhcine Zouitina better known as @Polyswitch. Presenting emerging and established artists from Morocco and beyond via @Worldwide-fm. ___ *Guest Introduction: Glenn Astro is just one of multiple alter egos the Berlin-based producer and DJ carry for himself. Releases on labels such as @nowtermina @tartelet-records, @ninja-tune, and @wotnotmusic, several high-profile remixes, as well as contributions to the @resident-advisor, Solid Steel, and @dkmntl mix series, helped to heave his name to the public eye. Known for his chunky beats and fuzzy textures, Glenn Astro was a crucial figure in a new wave of electronic music producers setting trends between 2013 and 2015, leaving a distinctive signature on everything he touched. But Astro has quietly been crafting a new sound for himself. Sometimes taking detours, morphing into various band constellations, more alter egos, and experimenting with artist collaborations. Those years of reflection and artistic development have culminated in another facet of his already versatile sound palette that manifests in his productions and DJ sets. ___ *00:00:00 – 00:59:59 / Polyswitch 1– Jeremy - So Peaceful (Re-Ending) (Driftwood) 2– Alex Ho - TYFC (Music From Memory) 3– Marconi Union & Giorgio Li Calzi | Blue Lights (Music For Dreams) 4– Samuel Organ - Guidance (DMY) 5– Aardvarck - Buuv (Rush Hour) 6– Pharaohs - Beyond Within (100% Silk) 7– Ron Trent feat. In this episode of the Ninja Tune Podcast, Matt Black, Ninja Tune founder and 1/2 of Coldcut talks with Benny Wenda, the West Papuan independence leader. Coldcut — who are friends of the Wenda family and long term supporters of the Free West Papua campaign—invited Benny Wenda to contribute to the Keleketla! record that was released last year. The resulting track, ‘Papua Merdeka’, centres around a heartfelt political invocation led by Wenda. It’s a call for freedom for the nation of West Papua from Indonesia, from which Wenda fled in 2004 after being persecuted by the Indonesian military.

Happy 1st Birthday Bside! We cant believe it's already been a whole year. And what a year it's been. We have brought you 25 fortnightly shows, releasing some of the finest Bsides from selectors near (Edinburgh and Glasgow) and far (Dublin, London, Naples, Berlin, Lyon, and NYC). It's been a great privilege to host some of our biggest inspirations including Glenn Astro, Gnork, Hidden Spheres, Waxist, and Bobby Analog onto the Bside airwaves, and a pleasure to showcase the music to you lot. It is safe to say we are really grateful for all the support and anyone who has come along and listened to the mixes live, or streamed it online. To celebrate such an occasion Bside's boss man, Calum Archibald, delves deep into his collection and extracts some of his personal favourites from the flip side. If you've seen him spinning records with Samedia Shebeen, the EDL (Edinburgh Disco Lovers), or Disco Makossa, or even warming up for the likes of O'flynn, Marshal Jefferson, and Aroop Roy then you know what to expect: Disco, Soul, Jazz from across the globe, some soothing house rhythms and of course a selection of floaty electro and breakbeat. We've got some exciting things planned going forward, not least our new home at House of Gods, bring on year two! And, as always… Enjoy! Shout out to our Molly Hickey for providing the artwork, we are ever grateful. Boy are we thrilled to bring you the latest instalment of Bside, this time incoming from Germany! This one is sent in by a true inspiration of ours - co-founder of Money $ex Records (alongside Max Graef - another favourite of the podcast), an exciting DJ, and an even more impressive producer ... Glenn Astro! Glenn Astro as been behind some truly beautiful musical projects, he is known for his creative and jazzier productions of house. If your unfamiliar with him, a great place to start would be 'Kilometer Disco', on the C-side of his album 'Throwback' where wonkey synths weave in and out of piano chords and saxophone solos. ‘Gemini', the B2 track of his 2015 release ‘Hologram', has long been a cherished peice of our Bside collection - a punchy house track full of funky melodies that are sure to tear up any dancefloor. This Bside mixtape is a taste of what makes Glenn Astro tick : a multi-genre journey of hypnotic and percussive rhythms. From relaxing ambiance to mesmerising bongos, smooth brass and soothing vocals, to downtempo electro and breakbeat, nu-jazz and reggae edits, all the way through to an energetic burst of pure DnB euphoria. Big thanks to Molly Hickey for the artwork. Check out her instagram - www.instagram.com/mollytriesart/ Enjoy.
It's always interesting when a musician or producer decides to embark upon an alternative route, channeling their creativity through a new outlet with which fresh opportunities await. This is exactly what the Delta Rain Dance project is all about, an open, original display of honest musical expression without the stereotypical personal associations. Based in Berlin, the Delta Rain Dance project is an alternative approach to electronic music and is advertised as being a "hybrid puzzle of melodic cuts, DJ tools and drum tracks." These musical works have also been created with the purpose of reinvention and remix in mind, the music is open to all and free for reuse and reinterpretation. Encouraged even. The music itself features a mix of delicately tuned electronics, some feature melodic development whilst others simply operate as soundscaopes and loops. It would appear that the releases will act as freeform works within which playful experimentation is the focus, the result is honest, humble and intriguing. With all of this in mind, we felt it was a good time to invite a mix from Delta Rain Dance, recorded as a rhythmic yet beatless experience it is the perfect soundtrack to a moody, cold Monday. Glenn Astro is Delta Rain Dance.

Its time to really Jazz up your friday! We've got @delfonic in this week and what a mix he's given us! Jazz-Funk-Fusion through the roof! Delfonic is a partner at one of Berlin's most prestigious record shops, OYE who now have two outlets, one in Prenslauer Berg and the other in Neukölln, OYE has become an established outlet for disco, soul, house, hip-hop and more, as well as being a home for organic DJ talent that garnered a deserved reputation throughout the European clubbing circuit. As a champion of new music and sounds, Delfonic has been setting new trends within today’s modern music scene. He’s the man behind the labels Box aus Holz, Torben and Money $ex Records, and is responsible for bringing some of today’s contemporary talent into the limelight, including Max Graeff, Glenn Astro, Alex Seidel and more. Delfonic holds down residencies OHM and Club Gretchen while frequenting the capital’s leading venues Salon zur wilden Renate and Panorama Bar. More recently, Delfonic was responsible for taking the OYE brand across the continent with a tour alongside Rhythm Section Records, visiting some of Europe’s more esteemed venues. If you're in London this weekend make sure you come down to our party with Jad & The! : https://bit.ly/2Gn88Ja And as always, make sure you are subscribed to get mixes straight to your inbox! : bit.ly/SBMixMailout
Max Graef is at the centre of his own little musical world that includes being co-foudner of Money $ex Records and part of the Oye Records and Box Aus Holz crews. It’s a world of loose house grooves, jazzy influences and disco flourishes with lo-fi aesthetics that has spawned two essentials albums—on Tartelet and Nine Tune respectively—as well as countless singles. More recently he has delved into techno, though, proving that he is an inquisitive artist who has plenty of tricks up his sleeve. He is a wizard on a range of outboard gear as well as having some very real playing chops when it comes to keys, guitars and percussion. As a DJ his organic style always comes through, which means his mix for us is an impromptu thing that calls on lots of different grooves. Sometimes hurried and minimal, at others spacious and deep, it’s a showcases of all the many influences that Graef distills into his own productions and is a nuanced listen that stands up to home listening. Included along the way are a couple of forthcoming solo tunes, as well as one with long time musical sparring partner Glenn Astro, so have fun picking them out.
Berlin based producer Max Graef brings his unique and fresh outlook on vintage dance music to the New Music Worldwide mix series. Head honcho of Money $ex Records alongside another Worldwide FM favourite Glenn Astro, Max began exploring and experimenting with production while on a student exchange in London, and both he and his MPC-led tunes found a home at Prenzlauer Berg’s OYE record shop upon return to Berlin. Now an accomplished DJ and producer he welcomes in 2018 for New Music Worldwide. Tracklist: https://worldwidefm.net/show/new-music-worldwide-max-graef/
Cologne based beat magician Hodini is up this week to show you a look behind his musical curtain. A regular collaborator with the homies WOLF records and also on top german label Money $ex records. Hodini likes to carve out bumping, jazzy, hip hop influenced beats that are steeped in quality and smoothness, as reflected in this mix. Watch out for his new record collab coming soon in 2018 with fellow jazzy beatsmith Glenn Astro. @hodini78
Thris Tian presents a weekly mix series on Worldwide FM, broadcast live every Saturday at 6PM, continuing the weekend workout straight after Gilles' 6Music show. Ajnascent is a multi-genre electronic project by the Berlin-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Konstantin Rohleder. Heavily inspired by traditional eastern and african music as well as jazz and post-rock, the project focuses on taking the perks of the spontaneity of improvisational music as well as the high sound quality of pre-produced music, melting them to bring a rich sonic diversity. Ajnascent present this New Music Worldwide mix ahead of their latest release with Glenn Astro, Even, out on Money $ex Records.
In just a couple of years, Glenn Astro has emerged at the centre of an exciting new micro-scene. The German producer is a student of hip hop, funk, soul and jazz who uses that knowledge to imbue his own sounds with a looseness and roughness that makes them immediately appealing. Words like dusty, deep and woody always come to mind when listening to his music, and so far it has landed on Tartelet, Box Aus Holz and of course his own Money $ex Records. Last year he also put out an excellent full length with label co-founder Max Graef on Ninja Tune which went in cosmic new directions, and in 2017 he has continued to impress with his instinctive DJ sets. His mix for us is a one hour distillation of all these sounds. It’s variously lunges and romantic, then more club focussed and beat driven. There are some lovely cover tracks, plenty of jazzed up grooves and flourishes of disco, all knitted together with a great sense of pace. There is a live and authentic feel to much of the music that makes it sound almost like a studio jam than a mix, and that’s another reason you'll play it over and over.

We discuss their early experiences with music, growing up in Essen and Berlin respectively, how it was that they ended up working together and the processes that want into the making of the album. As is to be expected from two avid music collectors, we are treated along the way with an eclectic selection of tracks, taking in music from The Roots, Breakout, Pete Dunaway, Underground Resistance and Creative Source. We finish with some new music from the Ninja Tune stables with tracks from Space Dimension Controller, Machinedrum, The Invisible, The Bug and Sarathy Korwar.

Raised in London, DJ Caspa has been playing records since the late 80's and his vinyl collection reflects decades of dance music. He has worked with many of London's leading pirate stations including Pressure FM, Magic FM, and Rinse FM before it was granted licensing, and is considered as a true veteran of the underground, championing new producers such as Applebottom and Liam Geddes. The Mariana Trench is part of the Izu-Bonin-Mariana Arc convergent boundary system that forms the boundary between two tectonic plates. In this system, the western edge of one plate, the Pacific Plate, is subducted beneath the smaller Mariana Plate that lies to the west. Because the Pacific plate is the largest of all the tectonic plates on Earth, crustal material at its western edge has had a long time since formation (up to 170 million years) to compact and become very dense; hence its great height-difference relative to the higher-riding Mariana Plate, at the point where the Pacific Plate crust is subducted. This deep area is the Mariana Trench proper. The movement of these plates is also indirectly responsible for the formation of the Mariana Islands (which are caused by volcanism as a result of subduction of water trapped in minerals). Enjoy.
