“Wait, the reason you cut your hair was for 2 dudes?”   It's officially our 6th anniversary! That's right, 6 years of metal discussions, ludicrous nonsense, and beers of the episode, and what better way to wrap up our 6th year in podcasting excellence than with STEEL PANTHER, the parody band that helped make 80's hair metal FUN again, with every hyperbolic metal cliché you can think of that makes them the epitome of everything that made late 80's hair metal so awesome. If S.O.D. is thrash metal with a generous side of hilarity, then STEEL PANTHER is quite obviously their hair metal counterpart.   Find out what happened “three or four days later…after the crying stopped”, discover which Slayer song is considered their “ballad”, understand why it's healthy and fun to maintain the silliness of your youth as you get older and JOIN US as we celebrate 6 years of metal and nonsense by going deep INSIDE THE METAL of a band that blends hair metal and nonsense together on a level that our inner 8th grader would have greatly appreciated with the kings of L.A. hair metal absurdity, STEEL PANTHER.   Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode   Help Support Metal Nerdery https://www.patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182 Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on the iTunes/Apple Podcasts - Spotify or your favorite Podcast app Follow us on the Socials: Facebook - Instagram - TikTok   Email: metalnerdery@gmail.com Can't be LOUD Enough Playlist on Spotify Metal Nerdery Munchies on YouTube @metalnerderypodcast STEEL PANTHER on the InterWebs: www.steelpanther.com  Show Notes: (00:01): Happy 6th anniversary to #MetalNerderyPodcast!!! Gerard might not be a name you know at first glance, but you are definitely familiar with his work. From getting Stacy Peralta into the director's chair for Police Academy 4 to rolling out the first proper Video Magazine to helping launch J.J. Abrams career- we cover it all, and then some. It's been 20 years since Steel Panther first exploded onto the scene with their light-hearted tribute to the seediness of 80's hard rock and metal. Well, six albums later, world tours and even an appearance on America's Got Talent and Steel Panther are still bringing the party to a stage near you. Their Holidaze tour kicks off in a few weeks and their latest album On The Prowl came out earlier this year.

Halloween has always been a special time for classic movies. From the early Universal Studios monster films to the psychological thrillers of ALFRED HITCHCOCK to the gory blood-bathes of the 1980s slasher films, Hollywood understood that people love to be frightened. In this Halloween episode, hosts Steve and Nan share some of the perhaps lesser-known scary movies to enjoy this Halloween season. Some are really great; some...not so much. But they all have a special place in Steve and Nan's demented little hearts. So pull the covers up tight, keep the lights on and ignore that thump in the night as they explore a few fun eerie movies. HEAVY Music Interviews

Interview by Kris PetersFor over two decades now Steel Panther have been the flagship for a new age of metal. One where the music isn't the only point of focus and the image is sculptured to fit certain demographics and moulds. Not that Steel Panther have ever subscribed to that theory, nor have they ever conformed to sociatel demands.Steel Panther are a band unto themselves, living the rock and roll dream day in and day out and proving to all who will listen (and even those who won't) that heavy metal isn't JUST about the music. It's about a lot of things. An inseperable unit for all but the last 18 months of life on the prowl - original bass player Lexi left for greener pastures and was replaced by Spyder early last year) - Steel Panther have staked their reputation on great music with enough fun and parody to kick start their own television sit-com series. Now the band who quite literally gives a fuck about their fans and their music are set to reclaim the throne they never lost when their new album On The Prowl is released on February 24.Packed full of everything we have come to love and respect about the Panther - plus a few things we might not yet know we love about them - Steel Panther have once again delivered a musical masterpiece as only they can. Or only they could get away with...Guitarist Satchel joined HEAVY for a chat earlier this week where nothing was off limits - not even the sanctity of an old folks home."I feel great about it," he answered when asked about the new album. "The last few years have been rough on everybody and we really didn't get to tour as much as we wanted to but we're really excited because this whole album I feel is one of our best records. We've got a new single that we've just released called Friends With Benefits with an awesome video, another song called 1987 that came out a couple of months ago and went to #1 on the rock charts in Germany - which is big for us because we don't really get on the radio very much. A lot of songs that are resonating with our fans so far, and we've got a lot of other great songs on the records like On Your Instagram and Magical Vagina. A lot of really awesome subjects that we tackle. Teleporter is one of them. All That And More... we have a lot of songs that are about our penisses and a lot of songs about vaginas and a lot of songs about sex and drugs, so it's great."The press release says On The Prowl is shaping up to be Steel Panthers biggest yet, so we press Satchel on exactly what part of the album is being referred to."I don't know, but it doesn't matter because bigger is always better," he smiled, "I think it will be one of our biggest records. We've got a lot of fans... and the interesting thing about our band is we tend to gather fans slower than most bands because we don't get radio play. So we're like Iron Maiden in a way, except our trajectory has been a lot slower and a lot longer. But our fans, once they find out about us, they tend to stick around. I think now we've got more fans than we've ever had and our fans can't wait for our new record and they're gonna be pleasantly surprised with it because it's great."That about as serious as Satchel got. In the rest of the interview he talks about the singles released and how they represent the rest of the album, Dweezil Zappa making an appearance on Is My Dick Enough, the inspiration for some of the songs, new bass player Spyder and what he brought to the band, answering to critics who still don't understand their sense of humour, coming up with topics to write about, conquering the world and more.

He has been an Associate Editor for Space and Time Magazine as well as the Editor of the horror/suspense anthology, Tales From a Darker State. One of his stories has recently been filmed as a short movie. Fiction of his can be found in approximately 60 magazines and anthologies from 3 different countries such as Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine in the USA, Here and Now in England, Crime Factory in Australia. A Goodreads review of Michael's novel Person Unknown said “A clever thriller that keeps you guessing but never pulls the rug out from under you or insults your intelligence. Its protagonist is a James M. Cain antihero for the 21st Century — arrogant, up to no good and entirely unreliable, until he isn't. The story is an allegory for the illusory and ephemeral nature of control where a “master of the universe” whose sneer of cold command is methodically dismantled until he literally cannot control *anything* — even whether he is conscious or unconscious. The characters are true, the cruelty is delicious, and the ironies are stark. A dynamite ride from start to finish. Find his books and short stories on Amazon and wherever you get your books. These jobs, as well as work as a special education teacher in an alternative high school and a GED teacher in county detention facilities, provide most of the background for novels and short stories. KM is the brain power behind the Jesse Damon Crime Novels. Who is Jesse? Like I said at the top of the show, he is an ex-con, released after 20 years in prison. There are 6 books in the series, all with Goodreads ratings around 4 or higher. It's funny how the math worth with ratings. The 6th Jesse Damon book, Abductions and Lies, has 7 ratings. 6 are 5 star, 1 is one star. The person giving the story 1 star averages rating books at 2.5 stars- which means the reader is a hard reviewer or they use the 1 stars for something else, like reminders they want to read the book. One of the five start reviewers said “The story is very well paced and the writing is very well done. The characters are well developed and quirky. Each main character has a lot of personality. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and look forward to reading more about Jesse Damon.” Another reviewer said “Compassionate, intelligent characters! Each trying to survive, yet willing to help the next person. Mixed with judgemental and confused characters. And a good, old- fashioned mystery! Jesse deserves a standing ovation, but feels lucky to be able to walk the streets!” I have not read KM Rockwood, aside from her story here, but am putting Jesse Damon on to TBR list. I do love a good mystery. That wraps this episode of Mysteries to Die For. Support our show by subscribing, telling a mystery lover about us, and giving us a five-star review. GoodReads reviewers gave it a rating of 4.02 with 73% of ratings being 4 or 5. One review wrote: Path of the Dead is a well written and fast paced suspense thriller which will take you through some of the most beautiful and rugged country in the United States. I thoroughly enjoyed this book for the wonderful main characters, the imagery of the locations, and the American Native culture. Another wrote: I read Tony Hillerman's Leaphorn and Chee books for years! When I saw a brand new author with a story about Native Americans I jumped right in! I was not disappointed. Full of great characters, this author brought this story to life. Finally another wrote: I really liked that the book is not your usual serial killer thriller. First you are in a part if the U.S. that isn't normally featured in books. Second, it features native Americans in a positive and enlightened way. Third, it is very well written with enough description to bring life and feeling without it being too wordy and dry. The third book in the series, When Silence Screams, came out in 2021 and more stories are in the works. You can find more information on Mark and his work on his website

Juntos grabaron dos discos, Soldier Of Fortune (1989) y On The Prowl (1991).

"On The Prowl", episode 211 of the Seibertron.com Twincast Podcast, begins with the typical recurring ending segment of the show with the cast talking about their latest Transformers toy acquisitions. The newly revealed BotBots product line from Hasbro is discussed next, with varying opinions on the appeal of these upcoming toys. Various newly revealed Movie Studio Series toys are analyzed, with forthcoming figures such as Deluxe Class Shatter, Cogman, and Scrapmetal, Voyager Class Long Haul, and Leader Class Jetfire getting a look. The latter's combination abilities with another Voyager Optimus Prime figure is also a topic of conversation, along with speculation on the Leader Class Megatron inspired by the character's appearance in 2011's Dark of the Moon. After all that, the retrospective look at the "Super Car" era of Transformers Masterpiece toys from Hasbro and Takara Tomy continues with discussion of MP-17 Prowl, MP-18 Streak, and the retooled MP-19 Smokescreen. Their repaints are talked about next, including the recently released MP-17+ version of Prowl. MP-20 Wheeljack and the enigmatic MP-23 Exhaust get a look, with perspective on Philip Morris' objections that complicated Exhaust's release. The show finishes up with a chat about MP-21 Bumblebee and the red repaint of the toy, plus the gold G2 version.

Brooklyn’s Jacques Renault is a dance music polyglot. In his long career he has undertaken, and succeeded with, many different projects. Whether working solo or collaboratively, turning out original productions or cultured edits, DJing around the world or running his labels On The Prowl and Let’s Play House, he always comes correct. His sound is impossible to pin down as evidenced by his broad and sweeping DJ sets which range from Italo to techno, Afro to disco and back again. With this mix we find him in fine form across three enthralling and widescreen hours that showcase his democratic approach to digging. Effortlessly drifting from slow and tropical grooves to party starting disco, it embodies the sound of summer, of late afternoon BBQs and sunset sessions before getting more groove driven later on. Bubbly, breezy house becomes the order of the night, and it’s all underpinned by a loose and playful sense of love for the good times.

Todays guestmix is from a man responsible for some of our favourite output over the last few years ‘Jacques Renault'. Jacques (Yes its his real name) has a plethora of strings to his bow curating and managing a number of great labels like ‘On The Prowl', its offshoot ‘OTP Party Breaks', vinyl only ‘Goodnight Moon' and the burgeoning ‘Let's Play House' which began as a series of parties that flourished into a label he currently runs alongside his partner in crime Nik Mercer. ‘Lets Play House' seem to be nailing it at the moment with releases from lots of HOD favourites like ‘Dead Rose Music Company', ‘Fantastic Man, ‘Bicep' and ‘Toby Tobias'. Quite the stable. Not happy to rest on his laurels for very long Jacques and Nik recently announced the launch of ‘Goodnight Moon' a vinyl only label. We'll be keeping a close eye on this project as it has potential to be a bit special.Jacques strikes me as a man who doesn't take himself too seriously, which is a rare attribute among producers. This mix is for having fun/getting messy to, simple. However it's not all candy coated disco like you may expect and Jacques ventures into some deeper territory with the wonderfully complex and polarizing ‘John Talabot – When The Past Was Present (Pachanga Boys Red Remix)'. You can nearly feel the sweat dripping from the roof to Daniel Avery's “Drone Logic” which is a bit of a monster. There's a few unreleased little gems peppered throughout this mix, including a first peek at the aforementioned ‘Goodnight Moon' label with ‘Almost – Polyphony' which incidentally is one of the highlights of this mix when paired with ‘Emotion II Emotion – Can't Help Myself'. We cornered Jacques and Nik, shined a spotlight in their eyes, waterboarded them and managed to squeeze some info from them.

Welcome to the Butter Side Up Podcast Series, this time we offer you something a little bit different. We know Andy Ash is a proper vinyl collector and has been for years, so we asked Andy to dig deep into his record collection and put together a mix of tunes that he is passionate about and maybe the ones he doesn't get the chance to play out that much. Its an eclectic mix of old disco and funk with a bit of Afro beat thrown in for good measure! We couldn't ask for more from Andy and is perfect for our seventh installment of the Butter Side Up Podcast Series! **Andy Ash Bio** Andy grew up collecting records and DJing since the age of fifteen and cut his teeth warming up playing deep house music around the clubs of Cambridge. Since then Andy has moved to Liverpool and widened his DJ spectrum, he now regularly drops vinyl bombs spanning from afro-beat through to deep house in his DJ sets. Andy Ash has steadily been bulding his sound over the past few years taking in influences ranging from jazz through to techno. He started off with a small digital release on Five20East (The Revenge's original label) and has gone on to release multiple orginal productions, edits and remixes on labels such as On The Prowl, Boogie Originals, FOTO and Kolour Recordings to name a few. Having recently taken on the role of co-runner for Boogie Originals Records expect much more from Andy in the future. www.buttersideup.net www.facebook.com/buttersideupmusic

FRESH OUT OF DEATH: THE MIX SERIES

With only a couple of releases to his name so far, disco-house prodigy Chamboché has quickly been making a name for himself. His Ipso Facto EP released on Jisco offshoot 'Under The Shade' with remixes from The Revenge and Pete Herbert no less, has garnered support from such varied artists as Tim Sweeney, Steve Bug and Mark E as did his second release which had cracking remixes from Toby Tobias and Brontosaurus. With another release about to drop on UTS, expect to hear more from Chamboché as he blurs the lines between house and disco in his sets and productions. Tracklisting is as follows: 1. Deep Space Orchestra – City Streets [Five20East] 2. Tornado Wallace – Swimmin’ [Delusions Of Grandeur] 3. The Revenge – Hotz 4 U [Instruments Of Rapture] 4.
