By living intentionally, we can optimize our happiness and fulfillment of the human experience. I feel that since we are all humans, that we have to be experiencing a lot of the same feelings like sadness, joy, shame, and fear. I thought that if I was able to sort through the yucky stuff and come ou…
Ah, people pleasing. Something learned in childhood that may still present itself in our adult lives. This episode is all about my experience with people pleasing and how I imagine it started in my own life. I share about how this all starts with the relationship we have with our caregivers and how it's really just us securing our safety. But when we are adults, we usually don't need our caregivers to meet our needs anymore, so why are we still prioritizing the feelings of others instead of our own? Oh, because we have created these neural pathways that have wired us to automatically do so. But don't fear, because as we are learning, our brains are PLASTIC which means they can change with a little bit of intention and love. I also share a little bit about how people pleasing looks different for different identities. Intersectionality presents different scenarios in this case, but the more we can understand how this all shows up in society, the more we can work towards prioritizing ourselves and showing up authentically. What do I need to step back from? - 7 of wands, the whisper What do I need to step towards for the month ahead? - 2 of cups, Growing What do I need to know about additionally moving forwards? - Knight of Pentacles, courage reversed How will this be in my best interest? - 9 of cups reversed, curiosity reversed What should I be building for the month ahead? - 3 of swords, a new day Energy I should embrace as a shield for protection, as armor, on my days I don't feel my best or strongest - Knight of wands reversed, mirrors reversed Stepping back from persistent effort, doing just got sake of doing, working despite the whisper of intuition. Doing instead of listening to whisper. Forcing an outcome. Forcing a situation. Don't compromise or settle for less. Trust the whisper if it is telling you to take a step back. Step towards growing love both internally and externally. Looking at situations from the perspective of love. “As we create harmony in our inner world, our outer worlds will begin to reflect that”. You could be experiencing a growth period during this time, one that is restoring the balance between internal and external love. Moving forwards, there could be times when courage is running low, when things may get hard or scary. You must continue forward, slow and steady if you must, but continue forward. Continue building the momentum. Continue creating and building and forging anew. This is all in service of your highest good to restore emotional fulfillment and peace in your life. Become curious about your life, find joy and interest in the mundane. Become curious about what restores this fulfillment in your life? The duality of the lack of fulfillment, use this to get curious about how you would like to feel fulfilled. For the month ahead, use the pain and the heartbreak to propel you forward into a new day, a new beginning. Acknowledge the pain, but know and trust that there are new times coming and that you can leave this pain behind. “Allow yourself to let go of anything that's weighing you down and set forth on the path that's calling.” Energy to embrace as shield for protection: Everything is a mirror.. Your external world reflects your internal world. Don't rush immediately into things. Stay present, stay aware, know and listen to when it is time to move forward. This episode is a re-air from my Patreon all about how to approach and navigate family dynamics during the holidays. Sometimes holidays and family gatherings are great! Everyone is being polite, kind, respectful. Other times, there is no holding back. Sometimes our family can be our biggest triggers. So how can we get through holiday dinner without punching someone in the face?! In this episode, I share some of the strategies I have used to get through the entire gathering. It's not always easy. Listen to your body, if you need space, take it, and don't forget to honor yourself
In this episode, we are talking about PERIODS, menstruating, bleeding, the whole gamut. So if you are here to learn, welcome, and if you are here to be disgusted, then there is plenty of other content out there not about this, so feel free to check it out :) Over are the days we should feel shame about our bodies, about bleeding, and about needing time and energy to care for our bodies. Anxiety seems all too familiar these days, the feelings of discomfort, heart beating fast, constant vigilance, you name it. I share about my recent experience of being in my head, feeling anxious thoughts, and it getting to the point where it's getting in the way of me living. Talking about our mental health and our struggles is a key part of opening up to vulnerability. Many people say that suffering is a part of the human condition, but how do we transcend this "limitation"? How do we live our lives despite the chaos around us? In this episode, I talk about the biological understanding of human behavior and some of the science and psychology behind anxiety and our body's fear response. When we think about starting a brand or a business, we are so excited about bringing our idea to life. When I look back on my life, I think about all the ways I've been playing small and hiding. By hiding, I mean not sharing my true self, my true interests, etc. Ever since I can remember, my sensitivity has been too much, my emotions have been too big, and I've had to change who I am in order to not be made fun of or fit in. Harden my heart, if you will. As I'm getting older and peeling back the layers of the inauthentic mask I've created, I'm learning more about myself and my passions. The things that keep me up at night. Spirituality has always been something I've seen as other, as weird, as not normal. It seems everyone I've ever talked to has discredited astrology. Manifestation isn't real, magic isn't either. But I'm learning that I do have a strong, growing connection to the mystical, to the magical, the unseen. In this episode, I share about my journey uncovering and rediscovering my truth, as well as some of the reasons I feel it's been unsafe to share in our society. Note: My mic switched modes in the last ~5 mins of the podcast, so you'll hear the audio change. I appreciate your understanding! Thankfully it was only the last bit and not the whole thing. In this episode, I share about my own little bout of chaos and how I am using the archetypal wisdom of the Tower card, featured in many tarot decks. Comparing ourselves is like a humankind pastime, we've been doing it for so long. But why would we want to support these beliefs that we aren't good enough? Today, we get right into the conversation about how we have been conditioned to compare ourselves to others and what others deem as successful. Instead of being proud of ourselves for all of our beautiful gifts and talents, we shame ourselves for not being like someone else or being different. What would it be like to replace this shame with love? Acceptance? Belonging? In this episode, I share about: my recent experience facing comparison why it's sometimes not easy to "trust where you're at" why our egos get triggered when comparing the shoulds and how we can learn to let go our uniqueness and how it's incomparable some reframes I have used to clear my mind why I believe you're right where you're meant to be If you are interested in diving deeper, check out the exclusive Patreon, where I post bonus episodes, guided meditations, and other fun stuff to assist you on your personal development journey! As beings of nature, we experience cycles and seasons in which we grow, harvest, rest, and bloom. However, capitalism had a different idea. Instead of following the seasons and their different energetic requirements, we now face burnout and frustration trying to keep up with creating and producing 24/7. Not only is this unhealthy for our well-being, but it's also against the natural flow of nature. In this episode, I share my recent experience with becoming aware of my own burnout and relationship to productivity. I'm super excited to bring you this episode, featuring an interview with my friend, Luisa Palazola. Having been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at a young age, Luisa has dealt with many challenges and obstacles that some of us will never face, like countless hospital visits, breathing treatments, and keeping up with what society deems "normal". She shares her story with so much vibrance, humor, and authenticity despite the rough couple of decades in her rearview mirror. Now that her life has taken a complete 180, she discusses reevaluating her identity, learning to embrace her not-so-perfect parts, and the importance of vulnerability as human beings. In this episode, Luisa and I talk about living with cystic fibrosis (from diagnosis to now) identity as a fluid construct embracing vulnerability + authenticity mind-body connection doing things the "right" way chronic illness + mental health learning to carry shame (self-imposed + societal expectations) importance of trusting yourself practicing gratitude If you are interested in diving deeper, check out the exclusive Patreon, where I post bonus episodes, guided meditations, and other fun stuff to assist you on your personal development journey! We all were given a garden when we were born, but what if we don't know what the heck to do with it? Who thought it was a good idea to give a baby a garden?! In this episode, we talk about the visual metaphor, commonly used in Buddhist philosophy, of the garden that is of your mind. It's a helpful parallel when thinking about our thoughts as seeds, how they got planted, and why it's so necessary to keep up with our garden to ensure a healthy and happy environment for all that is growing there. In this episode, I share my recent experiences over the last month or so that I've taken a baby hiatus. Keeping myself accountable and holding myself to extreme standards ride a fine line, and I've been navigating what it means to compassionately guide yourself through the darkness. The transitions in my life have most definitely been paralleling the changes outside my window, and as always, the seasons have been helping me reflect on guidance and wisdom. Spring is here to wake us up, but don't let that discourage you. We needed the winter to rest and rejuvenate so that we may now bloom and shine all season long. At some point in our lives, we are going to have to navigate forgiveness, whether it's with another person or with ourselves. It's not always the easiest process to go through, especially when you have been caused some intense pain. In this episode, I share my personal experience with forgiveness, compassion, and some steps to take when healing ourselves of the hurt we've faced.
In this episode, my best friend of 22 years joins the podcast to share her journey and experience in psychology, graduate school, and integrating a practice called "radical acceptance" into her life. A skill taught by Dr. Marsha Linehan, psychologist and creator of DBT (dialectical behavior therapy), radical acceptance brings together the idea of human behavior and concepts like mindfulness, emotional regulation, and acceptance of reality. Tristan explores what motivated her to take the psychology path, as well as her inspirations for her current dissertation work on the intersectionality of privileges within the counseling community. We talk about the different aspects of what radical acceptance means in our lives, coming from both evidence-based and spiritual/Buddhist backgrounds. She shares her wisdom and experience teaching radical acceptance to community populations, both young and old, and even leaves a tip or two for you to practice in your own life! In today's world, we are constantly being fed information and news regarding the latest updates about what's going on around us. How healthy is it to consume day after day? It's become an addition and we need more and more each day to catch our fix. We want to stay informed so that we can help out where we can, but where do we draw the line when it seems to be invading our lives? How do we maintain our power when we give our attention to dread, misery, and negativity? It's not easy, but we can start by monitoring our usage and regaining awareness of our bodies and our minds. By limiting our internet and social media consumption, we actually return our energy and power back to ourselves, where it belongs. We can use this power to align ourselves with our goals and use our energy to create love and change in the world around us.

The moment we've all been waiting for is finally here, but has anything actually changed? Will all our problems just disappear with the past year? Can we leave it all behind? In this episode, we talk about what it means to enter a new year and how we can use our reflections from 2020 to help make 2021 work for us.
It seems like it's been a season full of surprises, downfalls, successes, and just plain ol' gamechangers. It's been hard to wrap my brain around all the changes. Can we get a break, just for a second?? PLEASE? In this episode, I share some of my experience with feeling lost, disconnected, and depressed. It seems like it's a mood right now. But I'm coming out of it. I'm remembering that it's a cycle, which means the current state I'm in is temporary. I'm finally beginning to see the light at the tunnel. If you've been feeling lost, too, just remember, your situation is temporary, you are growing, transforming, and you're going to come out on the other side, bigger and brighter than ever.
Duality, the idea that two equal and opposite forces can coexist, has been plaguing my life! "Either this or that, it can't possibly be both!" I drive myself back and forth almost daily trying to come to terms with the fact that two contradictory things can be true. It's not something that comes easy, especially when thinking about the "oneness" of the universe. Listen as we discuss duality, how it comes up in our lives, and how to integrate this paradox into our lives.
This year is one that keeps on giving, but how can we find gratitude in things we didn't ask for? How does one take all these challenges and hardships and make something out of it? It just takes a little mindset adjustment, but remembering to count our blessings is what will save us from this year. I share my recent experience practicing gratitude amidst all the setbacks this year has given me, and I promise you, it's not always that easy. I share my recent experience practicing gratitude amidst all the setbacks this year has given me, and I promise you, it's not always that easy. But it has given me a new perspective on the year 2020.
