Welcome to season 4! As we begin season 4, this episode will be released during the final week before the 2024 presidential election. We know this has been a tumultuous and anxious time for our country and for most of us, so today we're digging into a little-known story of a princess in Judah who acted boldly to save her family line and maintain covenant relationship with Yahweh. The story of Jehosheba is about a woman in one of Israel's darkest times who refused to be overtaken by idolatry and tyranny, and chose to move with hope on behalf of her people. Today we're synthesizing what we've been talking about in our last few episodes on the Babylonian exile and the rise of religious imagery and spirituality in pop culture, by discussing New Age spirituality. Things like astrology, manifesting, witchcraft and spells have become increasingly mainstream in the US, particularly among women. Today we're so excited to welcome Katelyn Beaty to the podcast, author of Celebrities for Jesus: How Personas, Platforms, and Profits Are Hurting the Church. In this episode we're talking about a complex and often controversial issue in American society, our culture's relationship with guns. This is a conversation that has become so muddied by political ideology and Christian nationalism that it can be difficult to have any kind of healthy dialogue. But it remains an urgent concern for our country.
