666: Lessons from the Satanic Panic with Mike Cosper

Pope Francis died on Monday. Will the Catholic Church continue to move in the direction of inclusion and reform, or will it elect a more traditional leader in reaction to the last papacy? Mike Cosper is back to talk about his new podcast from Christianity Today about the Satanic Panic, “Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.” In the 1980s and 90s, the FBI investigated 11,000 reports of satanic ritual abuse, but did not uncover a single credible story. So, why were parents throughout the country worried that heavy metal music, board games, and the Smurfs would lead their kids into devil-worshipping cults? Cosper explains how hucksters leveraged fears over cultural change to create mass hysteria, and why lessons from the Satanic Panic are still relevant today. Also this week, Medieval art reveals the sounds and smells of hell.   Holy Post Plus: Bonus Interview with Mike Cosper: https://www.patreon.com/posts/127227607/   Ad-Free Version of this Episode: https://www.patreon.com/posts/127232165/ 0:00 - Show Starts   3:50 - Theme Song   4:12 - Sponsor - Our Place - Go to https://www.fromourplace.com and use code HOLYPOST to get 10% off site wide on beautiful cookware!   5:22 - Sponsor - Rocket Money - Find and cancel your old subscriptions with Rocket Money at https://www.rocketmoney.com/HOLYPOST   12:12 - News of the Butt, Medieval Art Edition   18:46 - Bosch Painting Translated into Music   24:24 - The Legacy of the Pope   32:35 - America vs. The Pope   41:42 - Sponsor - BetterHelp - This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Feeling lost in the sea of conflicting fitness and nutrition advice? One day carbs are the enemy, the next day they become the food you can't live without. Some say you need six meals a day, others promote fasting. So how do you separate fact from fiction and find a sustainable approach that actually works for you? In this episode, we tackle one of the most frustrating challenges in the health and fitness space: deciphering what's legit advice from what's just noise. Get ready for clear, no-nonsense advice that will help you filter through the confusion and make informed decisions about your health. What You'll Learn in This Episode: The three essential filters to apply when evaluating fitness and nutrition advice. How to determine whether a diet or fitness trend aligns with your personal goals and lifestyle. The red flags that signal a piece of advice may not be in your best interest. Key Takeaways: Trust Your Intuition – Before jumping on any fitness trend, ask yourself: Does this approach align with my lifestyle? Can I see myself sticking with it long-term? If it feels like a constant uphill battle, it's likely not for you. If It Sounds Too Good to Be True, It Probably Is – Any advice that promises extreme results with little effort is likely a marketing gimmick. Real progress takes real consistency and effort. Beware of Supplement & Medication Pushing – While supplements and medications have their place, they should never be the first (or only) solution presented. The fundamentals—nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management—must come first. When it comes to fitness and nutrition, not all advice is created equal. By applying these three filters, you can cut through the noise and focus on what truly works for you. If you found this episode helpful, share it with a friend who's also trying to navigate the confusing world of health advice. If you or someone you know is struggling with anxiety, mood challenges, ADHD, and other mental health concerns, reach out to Luke   https://www.whitestoneresources.com/counselors-list/lmerrill   My media channels all go to Garth Heckman starting today… Today I uploaded a clip of me unloading a 30 round mag in my new Glock 19X and then add some flavor to it with another weapon thrown in…    Text me 30 second interviews of you asking people “whats it take to be a man” (and send me yours as well) Please let people know this is not a gender question… just simply in each persons mind we have a simple theory of what it takes to be a man… I will post them on all my social meads channels… hey I would love to hear from women as well. There are no right or wrong answers… and I don't just want christian men, so if a guy cusses we will edit it out if its really bad.      How to be Ripped, Rich, Radical and Righteous!  Be yourself… what do I mean by that? I believe most people do not realize that God has created them as a masterpiece…what does that mean? You are totally unique -   What you like, what you do, how you act, how you live, love etc… it is so unique there is no one else out there like you. Yes there are some who have similarities in areas, but how you live them out is completely only for you, created for you by God.  When we try to do things, copy things, be things that are anything other than the gifts, talents and passions that God has given us, we become tired internally with a slow drain of stress… we are trying to do something we are not called to be. We are trying to be something he has not created us to be… how weary is that?  If I felt the pressure to learn to juggle 3 chainsaws and every day put myself through the hassle, time, pain and the stress… I might learn it, but if its not a passion, a gifting, a talent, a calling if you will… it will ultimately drain me in every other area of my life. When you see people living the Quote un quote dream and they walk away from it all… you think… How could you. You had it made… yes but made by the world. They walk away and they are more happy, more fulfilled, more in tune with themselves and God.  So how to you live your authentic life?  Discover Your Passion: Identify what truly excites you and aligns with your values. Pursuing your passions will bring purpose and fulfillment to your life. Rom. 12:4-6 there are many gifts… find yours.    Be True to Yourself: Don't conform to societal expectations or try to be someone you're not. Embrace your unique qualities and express yourself authentically. By the renewing of your mind… you become who Christ wants you to become.    You know who will hate you, mock you and belittle you? The ones who are to afraid to be themselves… they conform to the world… I choose to conform to who Christ created me to be.      Practice Mindfulness:  Am I living as Christ created me to live? Don't get me wrong, its not always comfortable being who God has created you to be. He has created me to be an outgoing, speak your mind, sheepdog who confronts and abruptly takes charge of situations… some people wish they were like that, others are glad they are not, but it aint always easy. But I remind myself who I am to be and who Christ created me to be.    Build Meaningful Relationships: Surround yourself with people who support and inspire you. Nurturing authentic connections can enrich your life and provide a sense of belonging. We are the body of Christ… we all need each other. Every finger on my hand looks different, but hey are all needed and useful. Now compare that finger to my colon, my ribcage, my hair… You build unity and great meaning by growing in your relationships with other believers.

Send us a textIn this episode of the Permission to Love podcast, I walkyou through a powerful exercise to challenge the limiting belief that you need to meet certain criteria to be worthy of love. As a part of the episode I guides you through four reflective questions that will help you uncover where these beliefs come from, how they affect you, and how to finally let them go. If you're struggling with self-love, this episode offers a pathway to begin releasing those burdensome beliefs and reclaim your self-worth.Key Takeaways:1.Make a list of what you believe needs to be true for you to be worthy of love.2.Reflect on whether you apply this list to others and ask if you'd hold them to the same standards.3.Examine the origin of your belief system around love and worthiness.4.Visualize who you would be without this list of conditions.5.Let go of the list through a personal release practice (burn, tear, or mentally release).Practical Exercise:•Ask yourself these four key questions to challenge your limiting beliefs about worthiness and love.•Engage in a physical or mental act of letting go, such as tearing up the list or declaring your release from it.Quotes from the Episode:•“There is no list of what you need to do or who you need to be in order to be worthy of love. You are inherently worthy of love because you exist.”•“Who would you be without that list? Probably free to love yourself without excuses.”Chapters:00:00 – Introduction and Welcome01:00 – The Limiting Belief Around Worthiness01:31 – Exercise: Writing Your List of What Needs to Be True for Worthiness02:03 – Why This Exercise is Important02:36 – Question 2: Would You Apply These Criteria to Others?03:08 – Question 3: Where Did These Beliefs Come From?04:04 – Understanding the Source of the Worthiness Belief05:38 – Question 4: Who Would You Be Without This List?07:10 – Letting Go of the List: Steps to Release08:30 – Recap of the Exercise and Key Takeaways09:19 – Final Thoughts and Call to ActionI am grateful you are here,JerryMindset Mastery 12 Week Coaching Program:Learn More Here!1:1 Transformational Coaching:Learn More Here! How is your relationship with yourself going?Get your free-self assessment guidePick up your copy of my book:Returning: Meditations and Reflections on Self-Love and HealingWatch On YoutubeWebsite:www.jerryhenderson.orgGet Your Free Weekly Healing Tips!Instagram: @jerryahendersonLinkedin: www.linkedin.com/in/jerryahenderson Disclaimer

Shane and Kyle have a real, unfiltered conversation about what integrity really means—beyond just being honest with others. They talk about how being true to yourself, even when no one's watching, is just as crucial. With personal stories and real talk, you'll be challenged to think about where you might be cutting corners and how to show up more authentically in every part of your life. Whether it's in business, with your family, or in your personal commitments, this episode is a call to lead with real integrity.00:00 - Introduction: The Conversation Around Integrity03:13 - Defining Integrity: Who Are You When No One's Watching?06:09 - The Importance of Integrity with Oneself11:28 - Practical Tips for Operating with Integrity in Business14:49 - Saying No and Being Transparent: Key Aspects of Integrity18:10 - Embracing Imperfection and Self-Criticism for Personal GrowthTakeaways: Integrity Starts with You: It's not just about being honest with others; it's about keeping the promises you make to yourself. If you can't trust yourself to follow through, how can you expect others to trust you?Be True in Every Aspect: Integrity isn't just about what you do when others are watching. It's about who you are when no one's around. Reflect on whether you're showing up consistently, both in your personal and professional life. Small Dishonesties Add Up: A little dishonesty here and there might seem harmless, but it can lead to bigger issues down the line. By staying true to your word, even in the small things, you set a solid foundation for bigger successes. It's Okay to Say No: Sometimes, integrity means turning down opportunities that don't align with your values or where you can't provide the best service. Being honest about your limits can lead to stronger, more genuine relationships. Embrace Imperfection: Recognize that you're not perfect, and that's okay. Being open about your flaws and working on them is where true growth happens. It's about progress, not perfection.Quotes:"Integrity isn't just about what you do when others are watching. It's about who you are when no one's around.""If you can't be a man or woman of your word to yourself, how are you going to do it for others?"  "If my goal is to serve people, there's always going to be somebody that I'm not best suited to serve."  "Being comfortable knowing that you're not perfect is where you build your integrity, branding, and good habits.""Perfection, which is impossible, starts with telling the truth and refining yourself." Show Links:Community Platform: https://products.thecollectivecoaching.com/ Social Media:Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/itsthecollectivecoaching/YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@TheCollectiveCoachingLinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com/company/collectivecoaching/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/thecollectivecoachingcommunity/

In this episode of the Liz Moody Podcast, host Liz Moody and guest Vivian Tu, a former JP Morgan trader and author of the New York Times bestseller Rich AF: The Winning Money Mindset That Will Change Your Life, dive into the dos and don'ts of personal finance.  They begin by discussing methods for budgeting, specifically the 50/30/20 method. Vivian also introduces her ground rules for any relationship: partners should have their own money and a prenup. While many hold misconceptions that prenups are for people who doubt their relationships, Vivian sees them as similar to car or health insurance. You don't get car insurance because you don't trust your vehicle!  Liz and Vivian also discuss investments and determining which types of investments are worth it. Vivian emphasizes the importance of taking internet investment trends with a grain of salt because there are no real get-rich-quick schemes. Instead, she recommends taking advantage of tax optimizations before moving into less traditional investments.  The conversation also highlights the unique challenges of working in the era of the 401k. Vivian advises listeners to seek out a meaningful raise every two years and to change companies if one is not possible. Workers used to be loyal to companies because they had reason to be – but today, individuals who stay at the same company see substantially lower paychecks on average.  The discussion ends with financial gaps in friendships. Ultimately, friendship is its own type of investment – and you may be willing to invest more in people who lift you up than people who wear you down. 00:18 Introduction 02:04 50/30/20 Budgeting 06:22 Determining Financial Compatibility 08:34 Ground Rules for Finances in Relationships 13:40 Goal-Setting 15:37 Avoiding Financial Infidelity  16:40 Prenups 19:16 If You Can't Buy It Twice, Don't Buy It 23:20 Rent or Buy? 28:40 Investing in Your Retirement 30:58 Tax Optimizations 33:14 If It Sounds Too Good to Be True, It Probably Is 34:15 Side Hustles 38:00 Climbing the Corporate Rock Wall 39:08 Light FIRE 42:02 The Your Rich BFF “Is It Worth It” Equation 47:28 Traveling as a Young Person 49:55 Find the Best Credit Card For You 52:00 Who Should Pay? 55:45 Are You Financially Ready for Children? 58:20 Parents Without a Retirement Plan 1:02:10 Can I Afford My Friends? Wellness + Wisdom | Episode 670 How does photon consciousness elevate human awareness? Brian Richards, Founder of SaunaSpace, joins Josh Trent on the Wellness + Wisdom Podcast, episode 670, to share why he finds inspiration in ancient teachings, how near-infrared light improves our health and increases our awareness, why we're beings of light, and how photobiomodulation corrects DNA. "The light reminds us that we create our own light. We're much more electromagnetic and quantum than we are chemical or biological. The knowledge we had of ourselves, energy work, and internal alchemy is something so profound that we're just beginning to circle back and remember now." - Brian Richards 10% Off SaunaSpace ThermaLight® technology combines the finest tungsten filaments, mouth-blown red-stained glass, and years of engineering to produce a full-spectrum infrared light that mimics the best of nature. Benefits: Compact and portable, hypoallergenic, tool-free assembly, wheelchair accessible, machine-washable cover, minimalist design, ZERO EMFs. All saunas have the same goal: to raise your core body temperature enough to jump-start its natural healing processes. Traditional saunas use steam, fire, or electric heaters to make the air in the sauna hot, which eventually heats up your body from the outside in. Infrared saunas tap into the science of light to help you sweat faster and more comfortably. Save 10% Off Your Order With "JOSH10" Why Near-Infrared Saunas? Unlike the traditional methods, near-infrared (NIR) light works with your body's biology to create radiant heat—from the inside out. By using near infrared's shorter wavelengths in a way that mimics natural sunlight, the light penetrates deeply to raise your core temperature faster. Near-infrared saunas give you: Ultrafast heat therapy Comfortable air temperatures Built-in light therapy Faster sauna sessions Save 10% With code "JOSH10" In This Episode, Brian Richards Uncovers: [01:30] Rediscovering The Atlantis Brian Richards 525 Red Light Therapy For Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) | Brian Richards Why Brian went on a spiritual trip to Italy and Egypt. Affirmations, or statements that affirm positive beliefs to you about you, are an excellent way to build yourself up. I use affirmations in many areas of my life, both general and specific, inlcuding language learning. They help remind me of my truth and keep me aligned with my morals and identity. Affirmations aren't about lying to ourselves or trying to fake it 'til we make it. They're about affirming true statements that we believe, at our core, so that we don't forget who we are, and that help us act in accordance with our true selves. Today's episode is full of meditative affirmations geared toward language learners. Have you ever considered what you believe about yourself as a language learner? Especially when things are stressful, and we feel like we're failing, we start to believe things that aren't true. We start to believe that we can't learn a language, that we're failures, that we're lazy, and so much more. These negative thoughts, while they feel true in the moment, aren't our real truths. Affirmations help keep us grounded in who we really are and in what we're really capable of. They pull us out of the negative spiral more quickly and remind us that negative moments don't define us. I hope you enjoy today's episode and are able to find many affirmations that you know are true to you. Take what you know to be true, what you really believe, and let that be a foundation of truth that you can tell yourself always, especially when you start feeling out of alignment with who you know yourself to be. Write out more affirmations that you know are true, and don't forget to be kind to yourself. Seasoned Dialogue with Lisa-Marie

Send us a Text Message. In this episode of "The Pivot," I offer motivational advice for those struggling with indecision and fear. The importance of taking small steps toward one's goals and  understanding that these minor pivots can lead to significant changes are important.1. **Incremental Progress**: Take small, manageable steps toward your goals. Even a single pivot or decision can move you closer to your objectives.2. **Overcoming Fear**: Fear often holds people back from making necessary changes. Embrace change despite the fear, what's on the other side of needed decisions is worth the discomfort.3. **Faith and Prayer**: Praying for guidance and for the right people to come into your life can make a significant difference.4. **Seek Wisdom**: Surround yourself with wise, loving individuals who can provide insights and guidance. However, also be cautious about whom you share your plans with, as negativity or ignorance from others can be detrimental.5. **Be True to Yourself**: Consistently emphasize the importance of staying true to who you are, embracing your authentic self, and not letting fear or societal pressure change your core values.6. **Action is Required**: It's not enough to have faith or pray; you also need to take action toward your goals. God helps those who help themselves by taking actionable steps.7. **Process Over Perfection**: Understand that nothing is perfect from the get-go. Life is a series of steps and processes. Trust the process and believe that everything will work out in due time.8. **Value of Memories**: Capture moments through pictures as they tell a story and serve as a grounding reminder of how you felt at a particular moment in time.9. **Support and Encouragement**: The importance of community and support,  sharing your stories, and supporting each other provides a strong impact.10. **Navigate Setbacks**: View setbacks or "no's" as opportunities to learn and build rather than as definitive ends. This involves understanding the reasons behind a setback and actively working to overcome them.Support the Show.

A'ja Wilson is one of the best basketball players in the world, but when it comes to navigating her life in the spotlight, she goes by one mantra: “Let the light within me shine brighter than the light that's on me.” That mindset has led her to MVP wins, back-to-back championships, and an Olympic gold medal. Off the court, she's also the author of New York Times best-selling book Dear Black Girls: How to Be True to You and was recently named a Nike signature athlete. On this episode, she's discussing why she thinks money actually can buy a little bit of happiness, the rise of WNBA tunnel style, and how she handles the pressures of leadership.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

From an anecdote about confronting racism in 4th grade to the influential women who instilled self-love during her journey to the top, A'ja shares her playbook for empowerment with raw honesty. She discusses the motivation behind writing her new book "Dear Black Girls" and the importance of defining yourself instead of letting others do it for you. Other people see the end results as basic glory. They see that and they're like, 'Oh my God, they make it look flawless and just easy. But the most surprising thing is how many times we cry together, how many times we pray together, how many times we just come into the gym. It's like we don't have it, but we still find a way to dig it out.” - A'ja Wilson “I think the biggest thing I always like to say is (I even had it on my shoes); if you can see her you could be her.” - A'ja Wilson “The self-accountability that [my role models] instilled in me allows me to (instill) that into someone else. I can be that leader for my teammates and hold them accountable because I want you all to do the same for me” - A'ja Wilson “Young girls all the time are like, ‘What do I need to do to do this?' I'm like, ‘Girl, just keep doing what you're doing. That's your path. I don't want you to think your path is going to look like mine.' I think once you get past that, that's when that self-worth comes in. Jesus said a lot of things for us to remember and live by... however, sometimes people confuse his messages...  Today hosts Jared Haley and Chris Wilson talk through 5 things that Jesus did NOT say and shed some light on what he actually said and meant. By the way, Merry Christmas to you and thank you for listening to our Strong By Design podcast show! We are honored to have you as a listener. May you share this special time of year with family and friends as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior.   "It's not, 'you do you and I do me.' It's actually deny yourself and follow Jesus."   Jared Haley   Our 'official notes' in preparation of this conversation are below, as promised!   1) Follow Your Heart // Follow Me   Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. - Matthew 16:24        The heart is deceitful above all things      and beyond cure.      Who can understand it?           Jeremiah 17:9   2) Be True to Yourself // Deny yourself and follow    For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. - Romans 6:6   3) Believe in Yourself // Believe in Me   Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;  and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” - John 11:25-26   4) Live Your Truth // I am Truth   Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. - John 14:6   5) As Long as You are Happy, it is okay. // I will make your joy complete.   I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.  - John 15:11   What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? - Mark 8:36       Time Stamps   00:53 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design' podcast (Christmas Special
