This week, The ladies of Industry Scoop are sitting down with casting director, George Pierre. They tackled how we can utilize this quarantine time to reinvent ourselves, and to stop worrying about what tomorrow is going to bring. George encourages us to stop putting yourself in the uproar. At the end of the day, what’s going to be is going to be. George takes his projects seriously even if it’s low cost. This crisis hasn’t changed the industry, it’s just in a setback. Writers, directors, producers have more time and are looking at things. They might be looking at you. Actors are only as good as the last project that they did. Everybody loves a good movie, everybody loves a great team in a show, it’s not going to end. George shares some of what actors should do during auditions: George prefers seeing the actors personally. He thinks self-tapes are dangerous. Find a way to make people feel what you're doing even when they close their eyes. Actors should come to auditions as themselves and then become something else rather than bringing props and costumes. They should not ask for directions from him and just do what they prepared. He gives feedback if it’s good or if he feels it’s necessary Do NOT have too many tattoos especially on your face and hands because it costs money to cover it up. Show your best, don’t ask to try again and again. Take your craft seriously. If the casting director keeps calling a certain actor in, it’s because they believe the actor can bring something on the table. Be confident but not cocky. Do not be late or/and unprepared. You’re only as good as the last audition you did. Just see the dialog for what it is. Stop trying to create more than what it is. George recommends acting classes on www.getscenestudios.com. Actors should be honest about what you don’t want. Be present in auditions and don’t just send tapes. Sometimes it’s not about the money. Be humble. If you love the craft, the craft will love you back.
