Emotional Autonomy is about owning your emotions and managing them in a way that strengthens your relationship with yourself without harming others in the process. It's learning to take responsibility for what you feel and working through those emotions in a healthy, constructive way that respects both your well-being and the well-being of those around you. Autonomy involves having the freedom and capacity to act according to one's own principles, values, and interests while taking responsibility for the consequences of those actions. In essence, autonomy is about self-determination, self-direction, and the capacity to shape one's own life and decisions with a sense of personal agency and authenticity. Emotional Autonomy is the practice of understanding your feelings, regulating them, and taking full responsibility for how you respond to them. It's not enough to just “not feel numb”—that's survival mode. Emotional Autonomy means diving into your inner world, understanding what's going on, and learning to navigate your emotions instead of suppressing them or avoiding the discomfort they bring. It's about stopping the blame game. Too often, we expect others to change so we can feel better: “You made me feel this way.” That kind of thinking gives away your power and keeps you stuck. Real growth happens when you own your emotions and choose to work through them, even when it's hard. It means admitting where you might have been wrong and learning how to take responsibility for your emotional well-being. Emotional Immaturity: “You made me feel this way.” “I don't know why I feel this way.” “I'm fine.” (When it's not true.) Emotional Autonomy : “I was curious about my emotions.  I discovered that I feel this way, and that's okay.  I'm going to own this emotion and use my resources to support myself through it.” “What emotions do you often suppress? What's one small step you can take today to acknowledge and own that feeling?” Balancing Vulnerability and Assertiveness  “Balancing vulnerability and strength means integrating both. It's not either or it's both and.”  Think about how truly hard it is to share your dark secrets, you know the ones that only you know about yourself. Now imagine telling someone these things. Seems pretty terrifying doesn't it. That's why I say being vulnerable in a safe environment is one of the strongest things we can do.  Key Points: Be aware of your emotions and why they're arising. Communicate with clarity, staying assertive but not defensive. Build a support network beyond your partner—friends, mentors, groups—to help process emotions and challenges. Practical Steps for Emotional Autonomy : Step 1: Be Curious and Non-Judgmental: “Identify what's happening in your body. Notice physical sensations, emotions, and reactions.” Step 2: Communicate and Explore: “Share your emotions with a trusted support system. Don't bottle them up.” Step 3: Own Your Emotions: “Avoid blaming others. Take responsibility by saying, ‘I feel this way,' instead of ‘You made me feel this way.'” Step 4: Take Action: “Engage in self-care activities and proactive strategies to manage distressing emotions.”

We also learn practices passed down from Jason's Podcast Coach, Travis Chappell, who successfully invited Grant Cardone to his show. 3 KEY POINTS: Be very brief. Avoid information overload. Do some research on who you're reaching out to. Try different angles when reaching out.   EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: If you're meeting someone for the first time virtually, there are proper procedures, etiquette, or courtesies to follow. When someone reaches out to you look at: How courteous are they? How professional are they? Are their goals aligned with mine? Be very brief. Avoid information overload during your initial reach-out. So how do we simplify the complexity of communication? Key Points: Be an active listener, repeat what you hear said to you, ask for clarification. Be quiet, allow the other person to continue speaking, and they may tell you more than you expect by giving them the space to speak. Get out of your head! Be open if something is distracting you or pulling at your focus.  Be prepared! Have questions ready.   Communication is more than the words spoken, but all the stuff in between. When we clean up our end of the conversation by being prepared, limiting distractions, and active listening, we provide the space for the other participants to be more engaged—leading, of course, to a better conversation! Keep it simple; only do one or two of the suggestions in this episode to start. Find the ones that seem to be glaring problems you run into, and start there! Simple is the keyword here! Focus on building rapport and friendships.  Competence, honesty, and benevolence are three components of trust, according to a behavioral scientist, Jason has listened to online.   When going into a new relationship or meeting someone new, most people try to overplay how competent they are. First, show that you are benevolent and honest. If you make a mistake, own up to it. Other people—especially superiors at work—will be more likely to overlook the mistake if you openly acknowledge your mistake.  The IKEA effect is defined as people who tend to trust and care more for what they build on their own or invest time and money in. Test ideas early and often.  Following XEROX, Torben worked at Cambia Health Solutions to improve the experiences of health insurance members utilizing an integrated provider directory.   Currently, Torben is the CEO of ZOOM+Care, an on-demand healthcare platform that allows patients to schedule same-day appointments and have access to their medical data.  ZOOM+Care offers telehealth and in-person visits with 60 clinics across four states. The company is focused on creating a seamless and frictionless experience for patients.   There’s a ton of opportunities within healthcare for entrepreneurs to provide technology solutions.  Torben’s advice is to enjoy what you’re doing. Steve Rodger narrated his typical weekdays, from his morning routines, his deliverable throughout the day, up to his evening routines.  Steve is currently reading several books such as The Sermon on the Mount by Emmet Fox.  Steve usually reads a book excerpt, picks it up, absorbs it, and jumps into something else rather than reading the entire book.  Wayne Dyer is a great spiritual activist, psychologist, and therapist who said that Ego represented edging God out.  “Am I an Ego or am I an IGI” is Steve's mantra, which turned into principles.   Steve set his relationship with his wife as an example of dealing with IGI or Ego.  Sometimes ego is in control when trying to be right.  When dealing with clients, he usually checks first if his messages are coming from IGI or Ego.  Steve programmed his thoughts with IGI as if it is a device's operating system. Take time to pause and breathe in meditation when things are starting to heat up.  Before starting to do anything, Steve frames his thinking about preparing for an IGI mindset.  Steve starts narrating his transition point to his new journey. Steve always has the drive to do more, be more, get more when he got into a real estate business in the corporate American executive world.  Steve's Ego served him very well for many years. However, his addiction to driving, success, and alcohol started tripping around his soul.  Steve's tough, disciplinarian military father is the reason for him always trying to prove something.  Steve has regretted taking action against his father, but it made him prove he can finish high school and live on his own.  Part of the essential elements of the IGI formula are forgiveness, gratitude, morality, service, trust, and prayer meditation.   Steve letting go of his financially rewarding job as a CEO wasn't by trust, but out of necessity and fear as he was fired after 15 years of service.  He ran his real estate company for five years in the worst real estate market in history. Steve sold his real estate business and broke away from that as a purpose-driven consultant and speaker.  Steve thought that he was a good father when he was a CEO, but he realized it's the other way around from her daughter's perspective. His daughter told her he traumatized her by being a functional alcoholic when she was young.   Steve tells a story about how her daughter left a note on a laundry basket with empty bottles stating, "AA- You need help."  With such realizations caused by the note from her daughter, he ended up getting help and hasn't been drinking for 18 years.  Ego strives for serving self such as food, alcohol, adoration, praise, sex, money, material wealth. When you are giving that to the ego, you can never get enough of that.  Ego finds information and deletes other information to prove they are right.  It is hard to eradicate racism, addiction, self-destructive behavior, power because we justify the ability that we are better than the others.  Prayer meditation is the communication with the source for a higher power.  Steve's circle of friends when he was in the mid-'50s became much smaller in a much deeper relationship.  Steve usually meets his coaches once a week to twice per month, with text messages in between.  Steve has a 5-years holistic doctor, Dr. Meltzer, who challenged him to do a vegan plant-based diet.  The excessive power that we put on money will cause a problem with our balance.  Steve is motivating young entrepreneurs, young men and women, and seniors involved in business to be more focused on passion, purpose, and spiritual connection in the world.  Steve's definition of success is the daily connection to his higher source and being led by something besides himself.  Steve's relationship with the source is the most important and the most successful relationship that he has.  Steve would like to say to his 18-year-old self to find ways to not damage the ones you say you love the most sooner than later.   3 Key Points: Be in control of your Ego by programming your thoughts with IGI to have control of your emotion.  Focus on your passion, purpose, and spiritual connection with the higher source. These are the true definitions of success. During this episode of the Lab Coat Agents Podcast, host Jeff Pfitzer speaks with wholesaler Cody Hofhine. Cody shares his strategy for connecting wholesale investors with cash buyers to generate more deals. Listen for a ton of impactful marketing and business development advice. Episode Highlights:  Cody is not a licensed real estate professional. Cody started as a sales rep for vinyl fencing and found a mentor in a colleague in that field. This led him to being a salesperson for homeowner insurance and founded his own insurance agency. He found his way into wholesaling homes, asked someone to mentor him, and he was told no because he didn’t want more competitors.  Cody started self-educating with podcasts and other resources, and within 40 days he got his first deal that paid him $24,000. Lab Coat Agents works from a place of abundance not scarcity, and Jeff points out that the person who turned down Cody as mentor is probably working from a scarcity mindset. Cody has an unstoppable drive and was willing to take imperfect action to get started. While transitioning from homeowners insurance sales to wholesaling, Cody began delegating a lot of his insurance work to others so he could focus on wholesaling. Within the first 6 months, Cody was doing a quarter million dollars in revenue, and within 18 months he had had his first million dollar year. For Cody, the key has been effective marketing. Cody made his marketing headlines match the main message he was hearing from existing clients. Licensed realtors can do a similar thing by asking people what they liked about the realtor they hired and taking that data and using it in your own marketing. Put your marketing in layman’s terms that people can understand and that meets your customer where they are. Cody suggests finding wholesalers at investment clubs and match-making them with cash buyers, found through the Real Estate Investor Association. Use Facebook groups to find wholesalers.  Nothing about entrepreneurship is easy, but it is simple. Cody is confident that everyone knows at least 7-10 real estate agents, but those aren’t the contacts a person needs when they are in a distressed situation and need to sell their home or don’t have the money to fix a distressed home. Most marketing communicates its whole message in the photo, which prevents people from actually reading what your message is because they already know they’re being sold to. Cody’s own marketing is just black text on a white background so that people are forced to actually read his message to know what it is. Only take advice from people you are willing to trade places with. Your income will never outpace your personal development. 3 Key Points: Be willing to take imperfect action rather than taking no action. Focus on marketing and meet your potential clients where they are. Work on your personal development and income will follow. In its first year, the Death Race was a complete mystery.  What intrigued Katherine was that the flyer, and her husband at the time, told her she wouldn’t be able to finish. She tells Don and Yancy about some of the most difficult and ridiculous challenges she faced. Including the fact that she did not see another competitor for the first several hours of her race. Her journey began with a random flyer picked up at the Original General Store, that said in no uncertain terms; Doubt You will Finish, a non-existent gear list, and a supposed change in start time and it’s still not over. She was the first-ever female Death Racer and the first-ever female Death Race finisher.   Note: memory can be a mysterious thing, especially when it comes to Death Race challenges. What a racer perceives is not always what the race actually entails. One small note of correction - the 2007 race was closer to 12 hours than 24.
