Hi everyone! Welcome back to another episode! This week on the podcast we discuss positive psychology in relation to micro-moments. How micro-moments affect our overall happiness, which also then affects our overall mental & physical health. We walk through some founding facts & studies by one of the pioneers of positive psychology, Barbara Fredrickson. Her theory Broaden & Build, positivity resonance, & more. It reveals how creating positive habits is beneficial more than becoming "more structured", but creating supportive behaviors relates to our happiness levels. I hope you enjoy the episode! Hi everyone! What a year it has been! I can't believe how much has happened since making the decision to start a podcast, which was about a year or so ago. Since that moment I've switched careers, increased my salary, launched a podcast, and enrolled in a life coaching credential program. It has been a year of IMMENSE clarity. In this episode, I walk through what I learned throughout the process and what allowed me the confidence to take some of those jumps. There was a ton of trial and error and what I learned after this year, I wish I knew sooner because it took me about 1-2 years to understand these lessons. I hope this episode is helpful! Hi everyone! This week on the podcast we have software engineer, or more specifically design technologist, Branon Eusebio. Branon originally was working in the neuroscience industry and decided to make a career jump into software engineering without a background in it at all. He walks through how he strategically made this transition with burnout in mind when enrolling in a self-paced software engineering program and how he was able to successfully set boundaries in learning & personally. We discuss his journey in the job market and how he dealt with rejection, continued to trust, and how he continued to take steps forward towards his goals through many struggles along the way. This is a great episode for those who are looking to jump into the software engineering path and also good for anyone transitioning into a new career. We walkthrough Linkedin and what mindset and strategy is best when applying for jobs, so you can get the most out of your application experience, plus more. Throughout the episode the message is to fail at many things and not be afraid to "suck" because statistically at one point you won't fail and you won't suck. Failure has led to some of the best successes because we trust that we will reach our goal no matter the timeline. I hope you enjoy the episode! Hi everyone! Today on the podcast we interview founder of Chemo Club, Allie O'Brien. Chemo Club is company that is dedicated to shattering the taboo around chemotherapy, the affects of chemotherapy, and to create a community that is focussed on love. Chemo Club is a hub where every Sunday they share a story of someone going through chemotherapy or someone who has family members/friends going through chemotherapy and they speak on their experience and what their life takeaways are. Allie discusses how shifting the perspective from doom and gloom to positivity and light when sick changed her life personally when taking care of her mom. This episode is a deep dive into the background details around habits. We will walk through the fundamentals about how actions become habits and how this information might be useful. The key of this episode to create awareness to what systems & practices in our day-to-day life are easy and are things we consider as “we just do”. Understanding these easy tasks and seeing how we can break them apart to see why they work for us. How can we apply this model to other areas of our life? In this episode, we will also walk through how we can compare our normal routines to the habit framework to give ourselves visibility as to what makes us tick. Learning how to create habits that stick heavily relies upon rewards and celebrating our wins, however how one likes to celebrate is different per person. This episode will help provide a foundation, so you can discover how to make new habits something you want to do, you're truly excited about, and get to do. Hi everyone! On this week's episode we dive into my stream of consciousness. Currently there's a lot of change happening in my life and so in this week's episode I decided to take this platform and use it as a tool to work through my thoughts as I'm undergoing newness. It is taking a look at giving ourselves grace, communicating to others when we need that grace, as well as the vice versa if we are in the position of the confidant. If we are the confidant, how can we practice trust and in conversation focus on listening instead of trying to fix them? A quote I really loved from this episode is, "Get excited about their evolution, instead of trying to control how they evolve." When we allow people the space to grow and thrive, magic happens. We all learn in our own timing, so it is learning to approach everything with grace and love. Welcome to the HABITS Mini-sode series! Every other episode will be a mini-sode. Each mini-sode we'll discuss bite size habit facts to break down the different key elements & talking points about habits. It will reveal how you can make change easy FOR YOU and how you can shift from overwhelmed to introspection. What we will ask over and over again is, "What works for you?" because at the center of everything is YOU. This means your opinion MATTERS. How you FEEL matters. What you LIKE and DON'T like matters. Change is a personal experience and that means finding your patterning for change will be unique to you. These mini-sodes will provide tools and mindset shifts that you can use on your journey to creating transformation in your life. In this episode, we discuss two different mindset shift tools to help learn HOW we can start to challenge our thoughts. When it comes to creating habits the wild card variable is belief. To make a habit stick it is more than repetition and understanding our cues and rewards, but it is changing our belief system about ourselves and shifting into believing that we CAN change. These tools are exercises I use actively, so I'm consistently, in micro ways, challenging my negative belief patterns and thoughts. I hope these tools will help you as much as they've helped me. Enjoy the episode! Examples Counter Statements To Use To Challenge Your Thoughts: Food - What I eat is not tied to my worth. I love and care for my body and am actively working towards taking care of myself regularly. Knowing I didn't love what I ate and it made me feel bad is a notification for myself to note that for next time I may not love that meal choice because I feel sluggish and too full. Body Image - My weight is NOT tied to beauty. I am beautiful no matter my size. ALSO, my worth is not tied to my size and my worth is not tied to my beauty. My worth is intrinsic. Every inch, curve, bump is loved, gorgeous, and yummy. My body has gotten me through all the best and worst times of my life and I appreciate and love her. Thank YOU body for loving me and supporting me *Note on Body Image Counter Statement: I said in the episode "Being heavy is not tied to beauty." This is because I gained weight at that time and wanted to rewrite my narrative on being heavier and understanding on a deeper level that being heavy has NOTHING to do with my beauty. I am beautiful and it is not tied to my worth. I changed it to "my weight" so the statement would be more universal for everyone. Hi everyone and welcome to this week's episode! In this episode, we go over my not-so traditional meditation habits (as you can tell from the title). Meditation is something that has never been a regular activity that I'd implement in my life as I felt I didn't know how to make time, I didn't feel like I reaped that much benefit from it, and occasionally I would get bored or didn't know what to do with the feelings or thoughts that came up during meditation. However, I've been hearing from many psychologists and thought leaders that meditation is an extremely useful tool to cultivate peace and to create that constant reality that we can live in. This way we can more easily and actively CHOOSE peace. CHOOSE happiness. The past 3-4 months I've been experimenting with how to find a meditative state and learning how to make that a part of my weekly routine. We begin by starting MICRO. These tools are ways that are not your typical way to meditate, but are methods that have helped me begin to create seeking meditation as a HABIT. This process will most likely evolve as I'm still discovering new ways I can make this practice something that I desire, I get excited about, and something I turn too. My life long goal is to repetitively choose micro actions that create room for discovery and to support me with my mantra of leading with love. I believe this practice opens those doors and I can't wait for you all to hear! If you use any of these tips, please shoot me a DM or an email. I'd love to hear your feedback! I've seen her at all stages of life and the evolution into the woman she is today. Morgan is a Customer Success Manager at a tech company in Santa Barbara, California, which is a job/career change she manifested along with doubling her salary. It all started In 2019 when Morgan dove into researching the science around manifestation. I've watched her completely transform ever since as someone who is continuously growing into her most authentic self and believing her dreams are a reality.
