It was an odd week with traveling for work and with Sundance dominating the film scene, but I still managed to check out some new releases and make some headway on the 2023 films I had missed including Passages, The Book of Clarence, Self Reliance, and The Super Mario Bros. It's another week and there are plenty of movies to dive into. I am still playing catch-up with 2023 films to get myself ready for the Sheist Awards. I am feeling more prepared now since I was able to check a lot of things off the 2023 list such as Blue Jean, Rustin, Priscilla, and several others. So, put your feet up and hang out with me for a new edition of "This Week at the Movies". It's time to get back in the groove. I see a lot of movies but have less time to write about them as a result. So, I'm taking some of the spirit of the Release Radar that I do on the website and bringing that to the podcast. It's going to be an evolving experience as I pin down exactly what and how I want to do it, but this felt like a good place to start. Please enjoy. Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to the episode and please remember that the opinions expressed on this show are just that, opinions. I was joined by the Scream Queen herself, Shauna, from the Sparky About Movies YouTube Channel to discuss and rank her love of loves...the Scream film franchise. Plus, I put her franchise knowledge to the test with some Scream trivia so come hang out with us and find out just how many knife wounds it takes to officially write them off. Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to the episode and I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. If you want to find Shauna you can do so @CinemaOfScreams on X or the Sparky About Movies YouTube channel. Please remember that the opinions expressed on this show are just that, opinions. The Steelers cashed in a W and held the under by a half-point, but I narrowly missed the trifecta as the Titans couldn't cover the 3 points in a 20-16 loss on the road. I recap that Thursday game and get into what turned out to be a lot of upset picks after a 14-2 mark last week. Here's hoping.
The Bills survived a nailbiter against the Bucs, 24-18, by a fingertip on Thursday Night Football. And with nobody on bye, Week 8 is loaded with action and I break down all the games on deck. Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to the episode. I still believe that word of mouth is the best way to help, so if you enjoyed it, please tell somebody, but liking, subscribing, and sharing go a long way too. The Jags shrugged off the time in London and got right back to winning stateside, as they beat the Saints in New Orleans, 31-24, on Thursday Night. Plus, a look at all the games on tap this week to see if I can improve on my 11-4 mark from last week and get a household win as well as a win in my league. Good luck everyone. Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to the episode. I still believe that word of mouth is the best way to help, so if you enjoyed it, please tell somebody, but liking, subscribing, and sharing go a long way too. Christen isn't feeling well, so I was flying solo on this one but she also tends to do better in our picks league when she doesn't join me for the show. So, I recapped the completely lackluster and underwhelming Thursday Night Football game between the Chiefs and Broncos and went through all the rest of the games on the Week 6 slate. Also got Rids' picks in this time. Enjoy. Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to the episode. I had the pleasure talking with the author of the children's classic films book "Movies Are Magic" and the host of Classic Films For Kids, Jennifer Churchill, about the importance of preserving and honoring classic films, and much more. Jennifer Churchill is the host of the series “Classic Films For Kids” on The Film Detective channel. Jennifer Churchill's groundbreaking, wildly popular children's book “Movies Are Magic” about the history of film was written in partnership with Turner Classic Movies in 2018 and released in an updated edition in 2022. Her new book, called “Movies Are Magic: The Director's Cut,” was released in partnership with The Film Detective, a Cinedigm channel streaming on Sling TV, Pluto TV, YouTube, and more. Jennifer believes that movies connect us to the past and help us understand history, the world around us, and ourselves. A resident of Sonoma, California, Jennifer loves bringing classic movies to life for kids of all ages. You can buy her book at Readers' Books in Sonoma, Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Hollywood, or online at Amazon. Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to the episode and please remember that the opinions expressed on this show are just that, opinions. Christen and I are trying to recover from a super-mid week of going 8-8, and I am trying to recover from having very little sleep. So, I think my picks will be amazing or disastrous. Either way, it's going to be fun and we came it at less than 45 minutes! Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to the episode. The Lions pulled the surprise 21-20 upset against the defending champion Chiefs, in Kansas City, to get the ball rolling on the 2023 NFL season on Thursday. Christen rejoins me in the studio to get our ball rolling as we flex some muscles we haven't used in a while to run through all the games on deck for this week. And of course, Rid's Picks! Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to the episode. It's been a while since I sat down and did an interview, but it's a special occasion. Happy Birthday to a friend of the show and a member of Sheist International Film Club, Shauna from Sparky About Movies stopped by to talk about getting started in content creation, her introduction to horror as her comfort genre, what the future holds and lots more. You can find her talking movies on Twitter @CinemaOfScreams and make sure to check our her YouTube channel for movie reviews and other content! Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to the episode. It's that time of year again! There are a lot of politics involved in the Awards season and it gets exhausting. That's why I started doing my own thing six years ago. So, if you are looking for a recap of the Best of 2022 without the peripherals, you've come to the right place! Thank you!
It's the Super Bowl!! And it's in Arizona despite me forgetting that and lumping it in with the Pro Bowl festivities in Vegas. Join us as we talk about the many story angles, the historic first, clones, prop bets, and more on our final episode of the 2022-23 season.
Mourning the lack of my Bills while talking about the upcoming NFL Conference Championship games. The combined spread for both games was only 4pts total last I checked, so we should be in for some close battles.
The Bills' season came to a disappointing end at the hands of the Bengals 27-10 in the Divisional Round of the AFC Playoffs on Sunday. What the Bills organization decides to do next remains to be season.
Running down all the matchups in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs and having fun along the way. Go Bills!
The Bills survived a close call with the Dolphins and hung on to win 34-31, earning them a matchup with the defending AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals next week in Buffalo.
It's Super Wild Card Weekend and I smell some upsets brewing. Christen comes back to the show to help walk me through it all and I try to convince myself that last year's 6-0 mark in the Wild Card round is relevant. Go Bills!
It was a very emotional day in Orchard Park, but the Bills handled it all with grace. Not only did they get a season sweep of a division rival with a 35-23 win, but they also eliminated the Patriots from playoff contention and secured the #2 seed in the process.
The NFL regular season comes to a close in Week 18 and there are some exciting matchups with significant implications for the playoffs. Still, there is nothing more worthwhile than the continuing recovery of Damar Hamlin!#HamlinStrong #ForDamar
