Elsa Fouragnan is an Associate Professor and UKRI Future Leader Fellow at the University of Plymouth. Brothers Outrun BigfootIn 1976, three brothers—Mike, Harold, and Scott—hiked along Old William Penn Highway, a forested road, to meet girls in Garden City, Monroeville. On their way, they encountered a foul smell, like a dead animal, which unnerved them. After meeting the girls and heading back at midnight, they felt watched. As they walked, something large moved through the forest, paralleling and then approaching them, causing panic. They ran, but the entity kept pace, eventually overtaking them. Mike screamed after seeing a tall, furry creature crouching near the road, watching them. Terrified and in shock, the brothers struggled to reach their car and drove away slowly. Mike described the creature as over six feet tall, covered in fur, and curiously observing them without attacking. Episode 324: It's hard to believe that Nashville's SteelDrivers have been making their unique brand of hard-core string band music for nearly twenty years. They were the vehicle through which many of us were introduced to the epic voice of Chris Stapleton, back when he and Mike Henderson co-wrote that band's high impact debut album of 2008. When Henderson and Stapleton had to move on, the band pulled its greatest trick, bringing on great new voices, growing bigger, and building a legacy that's like nothing else in 21st century bluegrass. In Episode 324 of  The String, Craig talks with original members Mike Fleming, bass player and baritone vocal, and Tammy Rogers, the fiddler and harmony singer who now leads the way with the band's songwriting. We are all guilty of it; something overwhelming happens or a trauma and we try to bury our grief, our stress, our feelings over what's happened. But, we can't outrun our grief or trauma. Eventually it manifests in other ways, sometimes physically. In today's episode, I talk with Grief Coach Kelci Jager of Rise with Grief, & author of A Millions Miracles and the One That Didn't Come.  Kelci's journey through her own grief started with a car accident with her boys that led to a discovery they didn't expect. While trying to navigate that health crisis, her husband then became diagnosed with cancer.
