Boots Riley talks about his new film, ‘I Love Boosters.' It stars Keke Palmer as the leader of a crew of women shoplifters who steal from luxury stores and sell the goods cheap to people who can't afford retail. Riley says he thinks of his work labor organizing, filmmaking and writing hip-hop music as the same project. Also, we'll hear from actor Will Sharpe. He starred in season two of ‘The White Lotus,' Lena Dunham's series ‘Too Much,' and the movie ‘A Real Pain.' Now he plays Mozart in a new adaptation of ‘Amadeus.' Silicon Bites Ep306 | 2026-03-24 | Russia has become a Digital GULAG, as Moscow and St Petersburg go offline. People are reverting to papers, paper maps and cash. Privileged urban Russians are losing their minds, as finally some of them wake up to the idea that the government does not exist to serve their interests, and maintain their privileges, but does not in fact give a damn about their comfort. Imagine living in one of the most digitised capital cities on the planet – because that is what Moscow is. A city where you pay for your coffee by tapping your phone, pay for everything that is electronically. Where you hail your taxi through an app, navigate by GPS, send money to a friend in seconds. A city that for years was held up — smugly, loudly, by its defenders — as proof that Russia was modern, thriving, untouched by war, despite an authoritarian government. This was a gilded cage, their argued, so why not just live life and enjoy it?!----------SUPPORT THE CHANNEL:https://www.buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtainhttps://www.patreon.com/siliconcurtainhttps://www.gofundme.com/f/scaling-up-campaign-to-fight-authoritarian-disinformation----------SOURCES:The Moscow Times — "In Moscow, a Week of Mobile Internet Shutdowns Makes Life a Real Pain," March 13, 2026.The Moscow Times — "Widespread Mobile Internet Outages Are Lawful and Needed for Security, Kremlin Says," March 10, 2026.The Moscow Times — "Mobile Internet Outages Hit St. Petersburg After Days of Disruptions in Moscow," March 9, 2026.NBC News — "Mobile internet blackouts sweep Moscow, leaving residents feeling 'powerless'," March 17, 2026.CNN — "Internet outages disrupt daily life in Russia, fueling fears of a digital crackdown," March 21, 2026.Meduza — "The Kremlin says it's cutting off mobile Internet access for security reasons. Send a textEvery prospect tells you a version of their problem — and they're almost always wrong. Not lying. Just wrong. In this solo episode, Bill Caskey breaks down why the surface problem your prospect presents is rarely the real problem, and why it's your job to uncover what's actually at stake. Bill walks through the questions you need to ask to get past symptoms and find the true pain: What's the cause? What happens if nothing changes? What are the economics of this problem? When you help a prospect understand their own problem clearly, you earn the right to present your solution — and they become obsessed with solving it.

Welcome to The Reel Schmooze with ToI film reviewer Jordan Hoffman and host Amanda Borschel-Dan, where we bring you all the entertainment news and film reviews a Jew can use. This week, we hear scintillating updates on Hoffman's test drive of his new snow blower before launching into our two Schmoovies of the week. First, we discuss "33 photos from the Ghetto," which explores the saga of a trove of previously unpublished photographs of the Nazis brutally suppressing the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Revolt that was captured in secret by a Polish firefighter while German forces set the Jewish ghetto ablaze. We learn how the images were accidentally discovered -- and how they complement another set that was sent to the United States decades earlier. The film, distributed on HBO Max since International Holocaust Remembrance Day, evokes mixed feelings from our team. We then turn to Jesse Einsenberg's 2024 "A Real Pain." It was a second viewing of the film for our duo and one of them had a change of heart from the repeat performance. Check out the one "meh" and one "not bad" film (our highest mark) in this week's The Reel Schmooze. In this gripping, brutally honest episode of I'm an Artist, Not a Salesman, Luis Guzman sits down with reality TV icon Renee Graziano—and nothing is off limits. Best known from Mob Wives, Renee has lived through a storm of public scrutiny, personal battles, and deeply private traumas. But today? She's standing in her truth. This episode is not about the glamor of TV. It's about the real woman behind it all—the one who's fought addiction, heartbreak, betrayal, and years of internal struggle just to sit here and tell the story. If you're looking for a surface-level conversation, this ain't it.This is a raw, reflective, and surprisingly hilarious deep-dive into the life of a woman who's been through hell and decided to redecorate.Renee opens up about how she went from champagne and cocaine to a quiet life of sobriety, celibacy, and self-awareness. She shares how trauma shaped her identity, how she lost nearly everything—including her sense of self—and how she's rebuilding her life brick by brick with therapy, God, and a little bit of Prozac-fueled peace. We talk about:The unexpected addiction that started long before drugs: powerGrowing up with a father in the mob and what that really looked like behind closed doorsWhy her title as Anthony's daughter felt more important than being a motherThe toxic relationships that almost destroyed her—and the moment she finally said enoughHow losing 50+ pounds and gaining clarity helped her fall back in love with herselfThrough laughter and tears, Renee reflects on the harsh lessons that came from being on reality TV while quietly spiraling behind the scenes. She gets real about the damage that Xanax, secrecy, and shame did to her—and why she's finally done running from the mirror. You'll hear stories of violence, betrayal, mental breakdowns, and—somehow—still walk away feeling hope. Luis creates a space where Renee opens up like never before, from the trauma of a sexual assault while hospitalized to the pain of losing her father's letters and keepsakes to someone she once trusted.Highlights from the episode include:The chilling story of Renee's ex-husband wearing a wire while sleeping in the same bed as herWhat it's like dating as a well-known mob daughter—and why Renee's over itThe immersive mob-themed dinner show “Married by the Mob” and why it's her way of taking power backWhy she believes God kept her alive—and what she's doing with her second (okay, maybe eighth) chanceThere's no performance here. Just one woman, unfiltered, unpolished, and unapologetically transparent about the mess, the beauty, and the weird in-between of survival and self-discovery.Whether you're an artist, a recovering perfectionist, or just someone who's ever felt like a mess in a world that rewards masks, this episode will hit you in the gut and maybe even make you laugh while you're crying.Want more from Renee Graziano? You can catch her performing in Married by the Mob—an immersive wedding experience like no other—February 13–15 at the Avenel Performing Arts Center. And if you're in the skincare game, check out her brand Bad Body Butter—because healing is an inside and outside job.Let's keep this conversation going:Follow Luis Guzman on all platforms: @imanartistnotasalesmanSubscribe to the I'm an Artist, Not a Salesman YouTube channel for more raw and real episodes.Share this episode with someone who needs to be reminded that they're not alone—and that starting over doesn't mean you've failed. If this conversation moved you, challenged you, or made you think differently about your own story, drop us a review or a DM. Jesse Eisenberg's Oscar-winning comedy drama received an embarrassment of plaudits from the industry and critics. Now it's time to get the ones that really matter: Mick, Hannah and Yosra watch American-Jewish cousins Benji (Kieran Culkin) and David (Eisenberg) as they embark on a Jewish heritage tour of Poland, following the death of their Holocaust-surviving grandmother. Feel-good film? Mismatched buddy comedy? Devastatingly bittersweet? All of the above? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Arguably the first viral moment of 2026 is an essay about a “toxic” group of mom friends. Actor and singer Ashley Tisdale French wrote an essay for New York Magazine's The Cut about being iced out of her circle of fellow moms and – celebrity intrigue aside – it struck a nerve. Dr. Noelle Santorelli is a mom and a clinical psychologist who tells Audie there's deep suffering wrapped up in establishing community around your family. She and Audie discuss the vulnerability of needing support, making friends for yourself and your kid, and the dysfunction of group dynamics. -- This episode was produced by Lori Galarreta. Andy gives listeners an update on the Altadena man whose home survived the January wildfires but now has a bear living in his crawl space. As New Year’s Eve gears up, we discuss those awful Champagne-induced hangovers that only the bubbles can bring. There’s a massive storm in the northeast that’s still wreaking havoc on holiday travel. New York Mayor Eric Adams suggested people stay home to make babies and Netflix and chill. Nowadays, when you go out for a steak dinner, it costs a lot of money. However, did you know, the margin for running a restaurant is not that great, with some restaurants recouping only $25 for a $500 meal. Andy plays listener talkbacks. Lots of opinions today about bears, beer and beautiful beats.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Ben and Rob take stock of cinema with their best films of 2025 episode; a sprawling, argumentative and occasionally unhinged reflection on a year that refused to be tidy. From blockbuster expectations to quiet character pieces, franchise sequels to left field surprises, this episode circles titles like Weapons, Sinners, Sisu 2, Bugonia, Good Boy, A Real Pain and Superman, alongside many more films that shaped, disappointed or completely blindsided them over the last twelve months.Did all of these films make the list; did none of them; or did some sneak in while others were left in the cold? What even defines a great film year now; how much does context change taste; and why do certain movies linger while others evaporate instantly? OCH FLER FILMFAVORITER FRÅN 2025I programmet lyfts även ”One Battle After Another”, ”Eagles of the Republic”, ”Sentimental Value”, ”De dödas symfoni”, ”I'm Still Here”, ”A Real Pain”, ”Brutalisten”, "Det heliga trädets frukter", ”Emilia Perez”, ”28 days later”.Programledare: Lisa BergströmProducent: Henrik Arvidsson

In which the Mister joins me in reviewing A REAL PAIN (2024), from writer/director Jesse Eisenberg. Estranged cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Ben (Kieran Culkin) reunite on a flight to Poland after the death of their beloved grandmother to take part in a Holocaust heritage tour intended to honor her memory. The trip forces the perpetually anxious David and the confidently detached Benji to confront their complicated relationship and contrasting personalities while navigating the emotional weight of their family history. As they travel through Poland, the cousins struggle to find meaning in their grandmother's past and their own fractured present, leading to a raw and often funny exploration of grief and Jewish identity. The film clocks in at 1 h and 30 m, is rated R and we caught it on Hulu/Disney+ but it's also available to buy/rent on Prime Video. Please note there are SPOILERS in this review.#ARealPain #JesseEisenberg #David #KieranCulkin #Benji #Drama #Comedy #FamilyDrama @Hulu @DisneyPlus @PrimeVideo #FridayFamilyFilmNightOpening intro music: GOAT by Wayne Jones, courtesy of YouTube Audio Library

Welcome to The Reel Schmooze with ToI film reviewer Jordan Hoffman and host Amanda Borschel-Dan, where we bring you all the entertainment news and film reviews a Jew can use. This week, the pair introduces the concept of the new show, including the segment, "What's the Jangle," in which they discuss two tidbits of Jewish entertainment news. We hear how "The Real Pain" creator Jesse Eisenberg is willing to go under the knife to donate a kidney to a perfect stranger. And we learn about two brave Hollywood actresses -- Meryl Streep and Sigourney Weaver -- who haven't joined the boycott Israel movement and are signed on to work with Israeli director Joseph Ceder in his upcoming thriller. Next, we get to "The Main Screening," a segment in which the duo discusses two films: the newly released Natalie Portman project, "Arco," and 2024's "Thelma" starring 96-year-old June Squibb. Hear which films get the seal of approval from our team and which was a split decision on this week's The Reel Schmooze. The Reel Schmooze can be found wherever you get your podcasts. Ian and David unlock a May 2025 time capsule with a review of Angus MacLachlan's small town drama, A Little Prayer! The film had its Midwest premiere at the Chicago Critics Film Festival in May, and recently became available On Demand. In this spoilerific discussion, the guys dig deep into this stunningly shot, beautifully acted story about an elderly father named Bill (David Strathairn) who discovers that his son, David (Will Pullen), is cheating on his wife, Tammy (Jane Levy). Complicating matters is the return of Bill's other daughter, Narcedalia (Dascha Polanco), who has just moved back into the family home with her own kid, as they seek refuge from Narce's criminal husband. There are more twists and turns to this story, which is way more contemplative than this "Springer Show" description might suggest. Ian and David loved a lot about the film, but there are a couple of themes that rubbed one of them the wrong way.Join us for a found-family, issues-hashing good time, and check out A Little Prayer wherever you stream movies--courtesy of Music Box Films!Support Kicking the Seat on Patreon, watch us on YouTube, and follow us at:XLetterboxdInstagramFacebookShow LinksWatch the A Little Prayer (2025) trailer.Plus! Smartphones are a staple in most people's daily lives, whether they are catching up…
It's "Podception Day" at Kicking the Seat, as two podcasters podcast about a podcasting pioneer!Steven Feinartz's documentary, Are We Good?, follows curmudgeonly comic Marc Maron through his early days on the standup scene, his battles with addiction, divorce, and losing the love of his life--all of which he has chronicled for nearly 16 years on his wildly influential show, "WTF with Marc Maron".The podcast is best known for getting high-profile guests (Barack Obama, Paul McCartney, Robin Williams) to open up while sitting in Maron's suburban California garage, but Feinartz digs deeper into his subject's own stories to paint a fuller picture of a guy whose relationship to fame is...complicated.In this spoilerific and (not surprisingly) divided discussion, Ian and David look for the good in Are We Good?, and come out the other side with more questions than answers--chief of which is, "Will non-Maron fans put up with his whining and narcissism for more than ten minutes?"Support Kicking the Seat on Patreon, watch us on YouTube, and follow us at:XLetterboxdInstagramFacebookShow LinksWatch the Are We Good? Hola Gerardo aquí en otro episodio de Simplemente Yo; La selección de esta semana es A Real Pain, es una película de comedia dramática de 2024 escrita y dirigida por Jesse Eisenberg. Ian and David crank things up to eleven with another---Nevermind. Not gonna finish that hackneyed joke. But it feeds right into today's double-feature review of Spinal Tap 2: The End Continues and Megadoc. What do a legacy sequel about a fake British rock band and a documentary about filming one of cinema's most notorious flops have to do with one another? More than you might expect, as we discover in this spoilerific deep dive.Spinal Tap 2 picks up with Nigel, David, and Derek reuniting for one last (contractually obligated) concert. But do they still have "it", and do cameos by legends like Sirs Paul McCartney and Elton John elevate the absurdist mockumentary humor--or simply drag it out?Mike Figgis' Megadoc finds the director chronicling the making-of chaos behind Francis Ford Coppola's Razzie Award-winning retro-futurist drama, Megalopolis. From difficult actors to incomplete ideas to entire departments being wiped out on a whim, the film drags shadowy Hollywood mystique into the daylight (for better and worse).Join us for an examination of two movies that don't quite work--but whose seeds of greatness were trampled on by ego, age, and cynical nostalgia!Support Kicking the Seat on Patreon, watch us on YouTube, and follow us at:XLetterboxdInstagramFacebookShow LinksWatch the Spinal Tap 2 (2025) trailer.Watch the Megadoc (2025) trailer.Keep up with all of David Fowlie's film criticism at Keeping It Reel.Plus!
