Kultur in Studen. Register for the Cannonball Run!! https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=118221On this episode, we have Pat Hasler from Cincinnati, Ohio. He recently won The Raven 24 Hour in Mt. Pleasant. His distance of 151.489 miles was enough to earn him a spot on Team USA's 24 Hour team at the World Championships in October ... for now. The qualifying window ends May 26, so if another American man runs more than 151.489, he won't be on the team anymore except as an alternate. We are hoping he won't get knocked off! This conversation was a great dive into Pat's history as a runner, his longtime dream of making the U.S. 24 hour team and what makes him so great at what he does.

On this episode of Michigan Wild, Nate and Drew Halser sit down and recap their season. Drew and Nate have both had similar experiences this fall. Both guys ended up punching their Kansas tags this year while still finding themselves holding onto their Michigan buck tags. Not only do they have their tags, but the target bucks they were chasing got shot by neighbors. Having a target buck harvested by a neighbor isn't a new thing, but it is always difficult to deal with. Nate and Drew both agree that trusting the process and sticking to their goals will pay off in the long run. The mere fact that they both have higher age class bucks to even chase is a win in their book and is a testament to all the hard work and dedication put forth each year. Kansas was good to Nate and Drew this fall as they each filled their buck tags. Drew took a slightly different approach with scouting on this out of state hunt and it sure paid off. Drew had multiple encounters with shooter bucks and ultimately sealed the deal after a rollercoaster of a hunt. Nate and Drew both emphasized the importance of tackling a wide area/variety of properties as a team on this trip. By combining all the data learned through scouting and deer sightings it really helped both guys kill their Kansas bucks. Rounding out the episode both guys are optimistic that they can get on a target buck these last few weeks of season. There are some great opportunities left and the plans are already in place to have a steller fall in 2025. Thank you for listening to the episode! Root Adorned is the brainchild/dream project of Erin Hasler. Erin's love for beautiful treasures began most likely at birth (maybe in the womb?) and has grown ever since. A self-described magpie, easily distracted by anything that sparkles; Erin continues to fill her own home with rugs, plants, pottery anddogs. Her philosophy being that you can never have enough of any of the above.Born and raised in Bend, Oregon, Erin is honored to bring her unique perspective to the community that she so dearly loves. After facing breast cancer as a young mother and wife, Erin discovered a new zest for life. She sold her hand-crafted jewelry line and sought out a new career that would enable her totravel the world, support artisans, and connect to the community. It was from this dream that Root Adorned was born. Erin is a firm believer that life is short and you shouldn't waste a moment of our precious time on Earth.Erin starts the conversation with the story of her background and what led her to create Root Adorned. She shares how her breast cancer diagnosis changed her life and how she got her jewelry line into stores. Erin also shares what it was like opening her retail shop, details about the products she sells in store, where she finds creators, and her plans for the holiday season. This week's episode is sponsored by @salesproducersinc, a progressive business to business company representing Gift, Lifestyle, Fashion, Personal Care, & Kids lines selling to retail stores with a mission to create long lasting, profitable relationships by adding significant value to our Customer, Vendor, and Team partners. Laura Carlson Hasler is Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and Jewish Studies and Alvin H. Rosen Chair of Hebrew Bible at Indiana University. What are teaching strategies when the religious identity of students presents obstacles to learning in religious study courses? How do you teach academic inquiry when curiosity is considered antithetical to faith? What does it mean to teach a student who cannot, by faith tradition, admit not knowing? When students have "ah-hah!" moments - what is the best way to acknowledge their learning and support their faith journey?
Released 69 years ago this week, The Cockleshell Heroes was a heavily fictionalised account of the real-life WW2 Operation Frankton, in which a group of marines, headed by Herbert ‘Blondie' Hasler, covertly entered Bordeaux Harbour in kayaks (or ‘Cockles') to sabotage German cargo vessels. The film starred actor/director Jose Ferrer and Trevor Howard, with Anthony Newley and… drum roll… DAVID LODGE providing solid support as Marines Clarke & Ruddock respectively. Although The Cockleshell Heroes was a hit with audiences and looks gorgeous in Technicolour it doesn't tend to get talked about as much as other similar WW2 films of the period and perhaps this was partly down to the almost anti-climactic third act. However, thanks to shameless plugging by David Lodge on a frequent basis some two decades later as part of Spike Milligan's Q series the film is still regarded affectionately by some people, particularly listeners to this podcast, and it seemed a nice idea to put it under the scrutinising gaze of your host and his special guest this week. Joining Tyler is Warren Cummings, host of The Cinematic Sausage podcast and someone with a very direct link to the true events which this film depicts – his grandfather served alongside the ‘Cockleshell Heroes' in WW2. It's a great chat with tons of fascinating factual information about Operation Frankton and how the film reflected the true events, plus there's a long-deserved tribute to David Lodge, without whom this podcast would be poorer.
Tonight we had a special guest from Zurich Switzerland, Peter Hasler who is a pastor there. Peter shared about or need to pursue a relationship with God and not just try to reach him with our faith.

October is fast approaching and on this episode of Michigan Wild Nate and Drew Hasler talk about the upcoming season. This is an introduction podcast for Drew to understand his tactics and passion for bowhunting whitetails in Michigan. They both share a lease in Illinois and are excited for the upcoming fall. Having similar mindsets with how they bowhunt out of state and in their home state of Michigan makes for great conversation. Drew also has had great success targeting bucks in early October in Michigan. He breaks down the mindset with striking early and setting up his property for that success. That success stemmed from a mindset change and not being afraid of some sweat equity thru habitat improvements. Bowhunting at a high level is something Drew has done for multiple years and look forward to more episodes with him on Michigan Wild.
