Laurel is back with us, and we are talking about Trauma Bonding. This show will open your eyes to too many untalked-about issues that many of us deal with unknowingly. Have you ever wondered why people stay in cycles of relationships that tend to be abusive? Or perhaps you wondered why you yourself have patterns of repeat offenders. Listen to what Laurel and I have to say about that. Grab some tea, coffee, and a friend, and tune in to the show. Laurel is a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist; I am certified as a Parent Coach; Certified as a Health Coach; Certified in PACT as a Couples Therapist; Certified as a Level II EMDR Therapist; Certified as a Compassionate Inquiry Practitioner. She sees her work as not traditional psychotherapy, but as a creative process, an art form in its own right. When she works with clients, she sees a human being and a whole person. She treats the person, not the problem and does not see problems but unlimited potential. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thehealingplacepodcast/message

Tune in as we discuss the affects of trauma within a relationship and how you can help and not hurt, reach out for help and feel ashame, and know when to let go for your own mental good. It's important to understand that when trauma is left unresolved and your experience of yourself is one of not being whole—of somehow being broken—you are likely to bring the footprints of this to your relationships. To have healthy relationships, you must first have a healthy sense of your own being and place in the world. Guest: Laurel Sole' Laurel began her graduate work in 2002. She imagined a path of International Social Work, traveling the world, and living everywhere. Her dreams of working globally were big. However, an unintended pregnancy, single parenting, child custody battles, a second marriage, more children, and some family trauma resulting in the tragic death of her brother informed a very different life path for her. This new path involved a deep and still evolving process of working diligently to understand herself and the choices she'd made in this lifetime. Laurel needed to understand her patterns and belief systems that kept her cycling in and out of trauma. She was tired of relationship struggles and stagnation that felt never-ending. She had to come to understand how she could make peace with the sudden unexpected changes life delivers and live a life of deep peace, deep knowing, and secure trust in herself, despite tragedy and encountering the unexpected. She came to this place via her own personal growth journey and that ultimately is what guided her to what she offers clients now, Therapeutic Life Coaching and Relationship Coaching Programs for women recovering from bad relationships. In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist; I am certified as a Parent Coach; Certified as a Health Coach; Certified in PACT as a Couples Therapist; Certified as a level II EMDR Therapist; Certified as a Compassionate Inquiry Practitioner. My hobbies include all things woowoo including Tarot, astrology, energy work, and most importantly mysticism. She sees her work as not traditional psychotherapy, but as a creative process, an art form in its own right. When she works with clients she sees a human being and a whole person. Harris, MS, LPC, & LMFT Counselor, Author, & Speaker She is on a mission helping others develop healthy relationships & find fulfilling shame-free sex. Brandi is a professional counselor, author, speaker, teacher, and coach. She has been practicing counseling for almost fifteen years and published her first book in 2015, kicking off a round of parenting classes and teaching gigs. Before that, she coached swimming and taught human development at the graduate level for a local university. She was a varsity rower at the NCAA Division I level for all four years of college, has run two marathons, and actually built her house with her own two hands and her family over the past ten years. Brandi's work seeks to create spaces for healing, living freely, and sharing stories. This includes creating resources to help her fellow humans step into their own voices. Most recently, her work has focused on healthy relationships and shame-free sex. Her latest workbook The Truth About Holy Sex deals with mixed messages and damaging, inaccurate information perpetuated in both conservative and the broader American culture. The workbook is designed to identify truth and to help those who love Jesus learn to love holy sex. Personally, Brandi is a mom to 3 kids, a wife, a friend, and a follower of Jesus. She's also done a few random things like playing roller derby, chopping wood, living communally with her neighbors, and shaving her head. She no longer has a belly button. You can find the link in the our bio to become a sponsor. Don't be fooled by thinking, just because you know someone means you know who they have become. That's why it's difficult to experience true intimacy unless you're comfortable with strangers. It's difficult to see the people you love turn into complete strangers and it's difficult to be obligated to strangers. At some point we all ask ourself are these the children I raised, is this the man or the woman I married, is this the friend I shared so much with. We all evolve and for those we are in relationship with or those in relationship with us it's not always easy. One of the best things I have heard in my years in ministry and counseling is when I heard a minister say to a couple he was marrying, "can love several different people?" He was asking the question can you love your spouse as they evolve and grow into new people over the years. Let's talk! When we speak on reconciliation we first must take note that an apology alone is not enough. The following definitions are from Webster's Dictionary: An apology is a formal justification, defense, or excuse; an admission of error accompanied by an expression of regret. An apology without an admission of error (stating the offense) accompanied by an expression of regret is not an apology. Reconciliation can't take place without an apology. Let's talk! If you enjoy this broadcast please take the time to share, comment, and like. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thehealingplacepodcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thehealingplacepodcast/support

We are not always suffering for Christ’s sake. We sometimes suffer for our own sinful behavior. We have been conditioned to believe all trials and oppositions are signs of greater but indeed they can serve as corrections, chastisement, and humbling. We must stop playing victim and start being honest with ourselves. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/woman2womaninspire/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/woman2womaninspire/support
