How can evil still prevail when Jesus stripped the devil, defeated the devil, and absolutely destroyed his power over us? Satan cannot devour believers unless they submit to him, and that submission often happens subtly through our thoughts and beliefs. When we exalt a philosophy, argument, or tradition above the Word of God, we are giving the enemy building materials for a stronghold. In Episode 5 of "The Good Fight," Duane Sheriff reveals how strongholds are formed in the mind and how they can be torn down through the spiritual weapons God has provided. The battle is not fought with physical weapons. It takes place in our minds, homes, finances, relationships, and every area where we allow a secular worldview to oppose the truth of Scripture.Believers do not have to remain defeated by a defeated devil. Victory requires us to cast down arguments, take every thought captive, and make it obedient to Christ. Discover how to recognize strongholds, replace lies with truth, and stand firm in the good fight of faith.
Growing up, Beth Moore was taught that 1 Timothy 2 and 1 Corinthians 14 were the whole of what scripture had to say about women: submissive and silent. The founder of Living Proof Ministries and one of the most widely read Bible teachers in America, Moore objects to a hermeneutic limited to those passages. In this episode, Mark Labberton revisits his 2018 conversation with Beth Moore, recorded in the months following her viral open letter, "A Letter to My Brothers." Almost 10 years later, debates over women in leadership and whether women are free to use their full gifts in the full service of the church still roil American Christianity. This episode is an invitation to hear Moore's unique journey—discovering what it means to receive women as teachers and instructors of scripture for the building up of the church—and about the faithfulness of God to one woman's story, as she tries simply to be heard. They discuss the cost of speaking up in 2018 and the backlash that came hardest from women, her decision to repent of her own complicity, the way gender gets used abusively in every part of the church, and what it looks like to keep going with Jesus when the way ahead is cloudy. Episode Highlights "I very much am a big believer in the harbor of the church, that when it functions well … it's such a safe place for me. It was safer than my home, Mark." "Where I have been part of this and complicit in this, I will repent. So here is what I'm fighting for. I am fighting for us, and I don't just mean women. I mean women and men, brothers and sisters." "There is absolutely no world in which I would not have spoken up. … It would've been like expecting a dog not to bark at a burglar." "Where our Christianity … departs Christ-likeness, don't call it Christianity. … So if it is not like Him, it is not of Him." "I may not get it right, but I can no longer lay down to what I know is wrong." About Beth Moore Beth Moore is an evangelist, author, and Bible teacher who founded Living Proof Ministries in Houston in 1994 to teach women the scriptures. Her books and studies, including Breaking Free and So Long, Insecurity, have been translated into more than twenty languages. Her 2018 open letter "A Letter to My Brothers" named the misogyny she had absorbed in conservative evangelical life. She left the Southern Baptist Convention in 2021 and now worships as an Anglican. Her memoir, All My Knotted-Up Life, won the 2024 ECPA Book of the Year. She teaches now on the podcast Living Proof with Beth Moore. Strongholds do not appear overnight. They are built through a process that begins with a single thought, a moment of weakness, or words spoken in defeat, and they grow until freedom feels impossible. The real battle is not physical but spiritual, and most of it happens in a place we cannot see with our eyes. The enemy is calculated and patient. He studies your weaknesses, listens to your words, and places the right bait in front of you at the right time. Lust, in its broadest sense, is any craving that demands right now what God has scheduled for later. It offers pleasure without process, intimacy without covenant, and release without responsibility. Freedom is not found by trying harder. It is found by bringing every thought into captivity, speaking life over your circumstances, and trusting that God's timing is always better than the shortcut the enemy is offering.Thank you for joining us at NorthRidge Church! Demolishing Strongholds - Part Two | Aimee Talbot | Paradox Church Sunday Gathering
How do we dismantle enemy strongholds in our lives, while at the same time fortifying godly strongholds so we have a safe refuge in God? Pastor Dennis Beers brings a clear message about strongholds, and how we can deal with them. He shows us how the enemy attempts to enter through open doors in our lives to begin a progression from tempting us to sin, to bringing in demonic influence, to eventually building a stronghold that resists our spiritual health and progress. Pastor Dennis explains ways we can identify a stronghold from the enemy, tear it down, and then build and fortify good strongholds in our lives so we will be able to withstand the enemy's future strategies against us. This message will give you practical steps to begin living in the freedom Jesus has for you!

Join us this month for a special Lesser-trod Paths episode with David the Ñoldo! Springing from our last Lesser-trod History episode about The War of the Jewels, David joins us to discuss the dwarves in Tolkien's legendarium. Looking through a lens of source criticism of secondary world authorship, David challenges us to consider who in the legendarium is writing about the dwarves, where these authors get their sources, and what potential biases are present. David asks us to consider whose history is written down and whose is silenced, and question why. Citations: Thank you to our guest, David the Ñoldo! There's a message the enemy does not want circulating: how to actually invade the cultural strongholds he's held for decades, not through protest or politics, but through a strategy hidden in the story of Daniel himself. What if the church has been fighting the wrong war? In this episode, Lance Wallnau breaks down why "going into all the world" was never just about planting churches overseas, it's about discipling nations by invading the institutions that run daily life: government, media, education, business. He unpacks the biblical pattern behind Daniel's secret prayer meetings inside Babylon, explains how the Wilberforce and Clapham Estate model ended slavery in England without firing a single bullet, and issues a sobering warning about the deception creeping into wealthy, influential corners of the church. He also connects the rise of anti-Semitism to what he calls God's prophetic time clock for the last days. In this episode: - The simple secret behind "planting altars" instead of churches - How the Daniel strategy invades institutions from the inside out - The Wilberforce model that ended slavery without firing a bullet - Why gatekeepers determine whether a stronghold falls or holds - How to spot the deception creeping into wealthy corners of the church - What rising anti-Semitism reveals about God's prophetic timeline Podcast Episode 2194: This Message About Invading Cultural Strongholds Freaks The Devil Out | don't miss this! Are you feeling exhausted, defeated, or like you're just trying to survive the darkness in the world? Discover how to unlock the true empowerment of the Holy Spirit to break strongholds and bring real change to your life, workplace, and community. In this powerful message, Elliott Warren reveals that God wants to do more than just comfort you—He wants to empower you. Drawing from the passing of Elijah's mantle to Elisha and the explosive growth of the early church, this sermon challenges the modern mindset of merely waiting for heaven. Instead, it equips you with a bold "Kingdom Vision" to pray "Thy kingdom come" not as a passive wish, but as an aggressive prayer of spiritual warfare to displace the enemy. Whether you are facing resistance in your personal life, your family, or your career, you will learn how to shift from playing defense to actively taking territory. Just as the Apostle Paul experienced breakthrough, an earthquake, and prison doors opening in Macedonia after persistent spiritual warfare, you too can step into the authority needed to see chains fall and lives transformed. This week, Jake and Bob discuss the subtle ways the enemy gains influence in our lives through the interpretations, judgements, and conclusions we draw in the ordinary moments of everyday life. They explore how these footholds can gradually become strongholds, why fear and shame often lie beneath our attempts to protect ourselves, and how distorted images of God shape the way we see the world. No matter where you may find footholds in your life, there is hope. Through simple acts of trust each day, we can learn to let God become our true stronghold. Key Points: The enemy often gains influence through subtle interpretations in everyday life rather than obvious temptations. Strongholds are built through repeated agreements with lies, judgments, and false beliefs. Fear frequently lies underneath anger and drives many of our defensive reactions. Footholds become believable because they attach themselves to existing wounds and vulnerabilities. Pride convinces us that we fully understand another person's motives or God's actions. A lack of peace and the absence of the fruits of the Spirit can reveal areas of bondage. Confession is a powerful place to bring our agreements with lies and receive grace. Renouncing lies and proclaiming truth is a simple but effective daily practice to loosen the bonds of footholds. Lasting freedom grows through repeated, small acts of trust that allow God to become our true stronghold. God wants that best for us! Jeremiah 29:11 speaks of that! For the plans He has for us is to prosper us not hinder us. Yet, oftentimes we encounter spiritual roadblocks in life that can either benefit us or stagnate us depending on how we handle them. We can either let go and let God or hold on and dig ourselves into a deeper situation. And even then, through Christ, we can still come out victorious, but it takes denial of self.Ultimately, Our Heavenly Father wants us to be spiritually healthy, faith filled, and obedient to His purpose and plan for our lives. 3 John 1:2 tells us this very thing. "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers". That includes every obstacle or spiritual roadblock that we will ever encounter. Afterall, Jesus paid the unrepayable price so that we can live righteously, victoriously, and experience eternal life.Series: How To Identify Your Spiritual Roadblocks
Strongholds are patterns of thinking and believing that keep us bound, but God's truth has the power to break every chain. In this message, we'll discover how to identify the lies that have taken root, renew our minds with God's Word, and walk in the freedom Christ has already secured for us. It's time to tear down every stronghold and build your life on the unshakable foundation of God's truth.
Pride often disguises itself as independence, convincing us that we can navigate life on our own. In this powerful message, guest preacher Josh Jackson traces the roots of pride back to the Garden of Eden, revealing how our desire for self-sufficiency keeps us from experiencing God's design for our lives. Discover why confession is far more than admitting wrong—it is a life-giving act of humility that opens the door to God's grace and the support of His people. Listen and be challenged to exchange the burden of self-reliance for the freedom of depending on God.
