I once held a painting exhibition where I sold all my paintings for the benefit of the Cristina Noble Foundation. Creativity has always been one of my ways to express joy and purpose.I take care of a small hobby farm and cherish life with my fur family—my dogs, cat, birds, chickens, and goats. Being surrounded by animals grounds me and brings me daily peace and emotional support.I love minimalism and believe in living with simplicity and intention. I am deeply connected to the spiritual world.I also find joy in traveling, exploring new cultures, and tasting the richness of different foods.Though I am an introvert, I thrive in authentic, deep connections. For me, quality always outweighs quantity when it comes to relationships. I love evolving, learning, and embracing life fully with gratitude, appreciation, satisfaction, and contentment. I grew up with emotionally immature parents in a home filled with daily fights and conflict. I was told I wasn't wanted. I felt rejected, unloved, and that I didn't belong. Melissa, a therapist from Michigan who also has ADHD, explains how her disordered relationship with food began at a young age when she couldn't "control" her sweet cravings and inherited shame about this part of herself. Working to integrate all of her Parts through Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Melisssa worked towards an Intutive Eating model and allowed herself to incorporate all foods in a radical departure from her OA food plan. With a Master's Degree in Social Work and 17 years of clinical experience, she integrates techniques such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and somatic approaches.
