Christa Wiens joins Dr. Sandie Morgan as they explore why the answer to online exploitation isn't the perfect parental control — it's helping young people recognize manipulation, build critical thinking skills, and know who they can safely turn to when something feels off.About Christa WiensChrista Wiens is the Executive Director of the Central Valley Justice Coalition, a California-based nonprofit focused on preventing human trafficking through education, outreach, and community collaboration. She has spent over a decade in the anti-trafficking field, beginning her career with the Justice Coalition as an Education Coordinator, where she developed and delivered training programs that reached thousands of youth and adults across the Central Valley. She stepped into the Executive Director role in 2022 and has continued to expand the organization's reach and impact.Christa is the author of the Understanding Human Trafficking series and has contributed to multiple publications on trafficking awareness and prevention. Her work frequently intersects with faith communities, education systems, and local stakeholders, where she advocates for proactive, trauma-informed approaches and stronger preventive frameworks. She holds a Master of Arts in Ministry, Leadership, and Culture from Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary.ChaptersKey Points• Traffickers have adopted the exact same cross-platform influencer model that legitimate brands use — and parents who don't recognize it are missing how exploitation actually operates online.• Looking for the "right app" or "right setting" to protect kids is chasing the wind; what's actually needed are better relational tools for conversation, not better technical controls.• Social media platforms are engineered to maximize engagement, which makes our kids the product — and platforms like TikTok deliberately change what they show users the moment they turn 18.• The most effective protective posture isn't imposing rules but asking open-ended hypothetical questions ("What would you do if...?") so kids see parents as safe, curious allies rather than authorities who will punish them.• Building agency means using the language of "when you make a mistake" rather than "if" — signaling that mistakes are expected, that kids won't be abandoned when they happen, and that they can always come back to a trusted adult.• The driver's permit is a powerful analogy for devices: we don't hand teenagers keys and say "best of luck" — we graduate access gradually, narrate the dangers, and teach them to recognize the red flags, like content that makes them feel big, urgent emotions.• Youth in foster care and system involvement are especially vulnerable online because they often lack a trusted adult — equipping care providers with conversation tools and connecting youth to resources like NCMEC's Take It Down are critical protective steps.• Young people who receive trafficking prevention education report a profound sense of relief — they knew something was off but had no language for it — and once equipped, they become peer educators and advocates in their own communities.Resources• Central Valley Justice Coalition• NCMEC Take It Down• National Center for Missing & Exploited Children• PACT 2025 Reignite Convening

Dr. Sigrid Burruss and Dr. Adrienne Schlatter join Dr. Sandie Morgan to explore what human trafficking actually looks like in healthcare settings, why safety matters more than rushing to the rescue, and how hospitals can build responses that help patients feel seen, supported, and safer -- with a close look at California's new SB 963, requiring emergency departments to screen every patient for trafficking.Chapters(00:00) - Intro + SB 963: The New California Law (03:08) - How Trafficking Survivors Come to Healthcare (05:51) - Recognizing the Signs and Using Screening Tools (10:00) - The Sticker Method: Creative Strategies for Privacy (14:36) - Planting Seeds Instead of Rushing to Rescue (19:27) - Training the Whole Team — Even the Cleaning Staff (24:40) - Where to Find Resources and Training (28:01) - Consent Laws, Reporting, and Adult Patients Dr. Sigrid Burruss & Dr. Adrienne SchlatterDr. Sigrid Burruss is a board-certified surgeon at UCI Health specializing in trauma surgery and surgical critical care. She earned her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, completed her general surgery residency at UCLA Medical Center, and a fellowship in surgical critical care at UC San Diego Medical Center. Her professional interests include trauma prevention, reducing trauma recidivism, and understanding the relationship between mental health and physical trauma. She is engaged in connecting patients and families with community support systems to promote long-term recovery, and serves on the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force Healthcare Subcommittee and CSEC steering committee as a leader in clinical response to child sexual exploitation and human trafficking.Dr. Adrienne Schlatter is a board-certified pediatrician at UCI Health, with dual board certification in Pediatrics and Child Abuse Pediatrics. She earned her medical degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, completed her residency in pediatrics at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, and a fellowship in child abuse pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Her clinical work focuses on the care of children who may be affected by abuse or neglect, including evaluation and coordination within multidisciplinary systems. Dr. Schlatter also serves on the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force Healthcare Subcommittee and CSEC steering committee, bringing her expertise in child abuse pediatrics to the intersection of clinical care, consent law, and trauma-informed practice.Key Points• SB 963, effective January 1, 2025, requires all California emergency departments to screen every patient for human trafficking and adopt formal policies for doing so -- regardless of whether risk factors are present.• Trafficking survivors may come to the ED for reasons that appear unrelated to trafficking: physical assault with an inconsistent history, recurrent STIs, or chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes that go unmanaged because the trafficker controls whether they can follow up with a primary care provider.• The triage nurse and check-in staff are often the first point of contact -- not the physician -- making it essential that everyone who encounters a patient, from reception to security to cleaning staff, knows what to look for and how to escalate.• When a potential trafficking survivor arrives with a companion claiming to be a family member, clinical policy and common procedures -- like a separate exam, an X-ray, or a trip to the bathroom for a urine sample -- can create a private moment to ask sensitive questions.• The sticker method gives patients a covert way to signal for help: bathroom posters invite patients to place a sticker on their urine cup if they feel unsafe, prompting staff to create a private conversation even when a trafficker is in the room.• Healthcare providers need to manage the impulse to rescue immediately; many survivors, especially teenagers, may not recognize that they are being trafficked, so the goal is to plant a seed of safety -- not to expect immediate disclosure or departure.• Discharge paperwork can carry covert resources: embedding youth housing, counseling services, and hotline numbers in a generic "age-appropriate resources" sheet means a survivor leaves with something useful even if they are not ready to act on it today.• California consent law gives minors over 12 the right to consent to STI testing, mental health care, and substance use counseling without parental permission -- and anyone can consent to forensic evidence collection after sexual assault -- giving clinicians important tools for trauma-informed care without putting young patients at greater risk.ResourcesSB 963 -- California Hospital Human Trafficking Screening Lawhttps://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202320240SB963Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force -- Healthcare Subcommitteehttps://www.ochumantrafficking.com/committees/healthcaresubcommitteeQuick Youth Indicators for Trafficking (QYIT)https://resources.rhyttac.org/resources/screening-tool/quick-youth-indicators-trafficking-qyitCSE-IT -- Commercial Sexual Exploitation-Identification Toolhttps://www.westcoastcc.org/cse-it/National Human Trafficking Hotlinehttps://humantraffickinghotline.org/en
Allie sits down with Trey Tucker — counselor, author, and former undercover volunteer with human trafficking raids — who risked his life participating in a human trafficking raid in Southeast Asia, helping rescue 20 young girls from prostitution rings run by ruthless mama-sans and corrupt networks. Trey shares gripping firsthand stories from the raid, the heartbreaking realities of how girls (many underage) were trafficked, and the emotional toll of going undercover while relying on his faith for recovery. The conversation also dives into the psychology behind evil in operations like Jeffrey Epstein's, why certain politicians maintain appeal despite controversies, and a Christian perspective on today's therapy culture that often glorifies victimhood over genuine growth and purpose. Trey discusses his new book "Tough Enough," exploring how to hone habits, cultivate strength, and step into God-given purpose without being derailed by distraction or feelings. This episode shifts the focus of human trafficking investigations toward the boardroom, exploring how white-collar crime tactics are used to track and disrupt global exploitation networks. By analyzing the laundering techniques and financial footprints of traffickers, investigators can build ironclad cases using forensic accounting and bank data. It serves as a compelling look at how "following the money" transforms the fight against trafficking into a high-stakes battle of financial intelligence and asset seizure.
This week we're joined by Glodi Wabelua. From a young age he struggled to fit in at school and soon found himself deep into a life of crime. The years that followed were a mix of prison sentences and life threatening injuries. Each experience leaving its mark and shaping who he was. She serves on the advisory council for the Polaris Project's Resilience Fund and on the board of Ride My Road.Key PointsFamilial trafficking — in which a family member or caregiver is the trafficker or sells the child to a third party — accounts for 60% of child trafficking cases, making it the most common form of exploitation, yet it remains the most overlooked.Unlike pimp-controlled trafficking, children trafficked by family rarely go missing; they may attend school daily, making the conventional "missing child" framework nearly useless for identifying them. The average age of entry into familial trafficking is four years old — years before most prevention education ever reaches a child — which means abuse becomes normalized long before anyone thinks to intervene.Indicators for familial trafficking look very different from other forms: rather than acting out, these children tend to be unusually quiet, compliant, and eager to please adults, driven by fear of any attention being drawn back to the home.Children in familial trafficking rarely disclose, and when they do, they are often not believed — after one or two failed attempts, most simply stop trying, leaving them isolated with the false belief that no one else experiences what they are living through.35% of familial trafficking cases are generational, meaning the cycle has repeated across mothers, grandmothers, and siblings — making family members who witnessed it less likely to intervene and more likely to look the other way.The "stranger danger" framework has been one of the most damaging concepts in child protection, because it trains communities to look outward for threats while the exploitation happening inside trusted homes, families, and institutions goes unseen.Research shows that a single trusted adult in a child's life significantly increases the likelihood of earlier disclosure or prevention altogether — meaning every person in a community has a concrete role to play, regardless of their profession.ResourcesEnding Human Trafficking PodcastEHT Episode 278 – Identifying and Interacting with Minor Victims of Human Trafficking, with Dr. Jodi QuasEHT Episode 353 – Grooming in Trusted Spaces: A Conversation with Dr. Beth LoranceTrafficking in Persons Report – U.S. Department of StateMedical Perspectives on Human Trafficking in Adolescents: A Case-Based Guide

Johnny sits down with “El Diablo,” an active high-ranking member of the Sinaloa cartel, for a rare and intense conversation about the realities of the modern drug trade. El Diablo talks about how he got started at just 14 years old, how cartel loyalty works, the logistics of moving cocaine from Colombia through Mexico and into the United States, and why he believes staying low-key kept him out of prison for over 30 years. He also breaks down how distribution networks operate across the U.S., how money is moved and laundered, the role of trucking and logistics, internal cartel politics, and why major arrests and killings rarely stop the flow of drugs. Toward the end, he opens up about the personal cost of the lifestyle, the violence, betrayal, and fear that come with it, and why he says he's finally ready to walk away. This is one of the most raw and eye-opening interviews yet on The Connect. Topics covered: -cartel life -cocaine trafficking -Sinaloa cartel, border smuggling -cartel loyalty -money laundering -trucking routes -drug distribution -organized crime -leaving the game This Episode Is #Sponsored By The Following: Ava! In this powerful episode, I sit down with Korrin, the President and Founder of Lantern Rescue, an organization dedicated to rescuing children from sex trafficking and bringing traffickers to justice. We dive into how Lantern Rescue was founded, what led Korrin to step into this fight, and the reality of child trafficking that many people don't realize exists. She shares insight into how trafficking networks operate, who is most vulnerable, and the warning signs communities and parents should be aware of. We also discuss what goes into rescue operations, how Lantern Rescue works alongside law enforcement around the world, and the emotional weight carried by those who dedicate their lives to saving children from unimaginable situations. But this conversation isn't just about the darkness — it's also about hope. We talk about what happens after a rescue, the long road to healing for survivors, and how everyday people can play a role in fighting trafficking and protecting the vulnerable. This episode is eye-opening, emotional, and incredibly important. If you've ever wondered how organizations fight child trafficking or how you can help make a difference, this is a conversation you won't want to miss. In this hard-hitting 15-minute episode of The Right Side, Doug Billings addresses the rumor that one Kansas governor candidate has a transgender child and lays out exactly what real conservative leadership looks like on the most important issues facing families today.Doug speaks directly to the rumor with respect for the family while making it crystal clear: voters have every right to know where any candidate stands on protecting children. He then delivers a powerful “If I were governor” vision that includes:• Defining sex by biological reality in every school and state facility• Directing the Kansas Highway Patrol and Kansas National Guard to hunt child traffickers in every zip code and partner with ICE on deportations• Returning full curriculum control to local school boards and parents — stripping power from the Kansas State Board of Education• Banning medical transitions for minors and protecting women's sports and spaces• Meeting with Elon Musk to bring a SpaceX manufacturing facility to Wichita• Requesting a new Space Force base in Kansas from President Trump• Reviewing every option to exit the Kansas City Chiefs relocation stadium deal that burdens Kansas taxpayersThis is straight-talk conservative policy on protecting kids, securing the border, creating high-paying jobs, and putting parents back in charge of education. No hedging. No compromise. If you want fearless leadership that actually fights for Kansas families, this episode is a must-listen.Recorded February 19, 2026 | The Right Side with Doug Billings✅ Hit SUBSCRIBE and turn on notifications so you never miss an episode✅ Leave a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts or favorite platform – it really helps!✅ Share this with every Kansas voter and parent you knowWatch on YouTube @TheRightSideDougBillingsListen everywhere podcasts are found.#KansasGovernor2026 #Trans #ProtectOurKids #SpaceX #ElonMusk #Trafficking #ParentalRights #ConservativeSupport the show
Hi loves! Welcome in to another episode! We are behing this month due to some Family weddings and unexpected passing away of loved ones. Today we bring you a Trafficking Today: What Women Need to Know to Stay Safe Before we begin today's episode, we want to share a brief content note. This episode includes discussion of sex trafficking, kidnapping, and threats to women's safety. While we do not go into graphic detail, these topics may be activating or emotionally heavy for some listeners. We encourage you to listen in a way that feels safe for you. That may mean taking breaks, listening with someone you trust, or choosing to skip this episode entirely. Your well-being comes first. If at any point you feel overwhelmed, it's okay to pause or step away. This conversation is intended to inform, empower, and protect—not to create fear. Such a hard conversation that is all around the world today. We discuss what this looks like, why strangers are a real risk and how they approach and high risk locations Be aware of your surroundings, if your gut is screaming it isnt right...it isnt right. Speak loudly and protect yourself. We are taught, as women, to stay small, to smile and be "sweet" as Abbie says many times. This is not the time to be sweet, get away, listen to your gut and yell, scream and you do not owe anyone any explanation High-risk locations include: Parking garages and parking lots Gas stations Airports and transit hubs Hotels and motels Public bathrooms Elevators and stairwells Crowded events Rideshare pickup areas Risk increases when: It's dark or early morning You're alone You're distracted by your phone You're wearing headphones You're traveling You're visibly stressed or emotional or you have been drinking. Traffickers use date rape drugs that are odorless, colorless and tasteless. These cause memory loss, confusion and inabilityy to fight back, making it very easy for them to abduct you. We go further and talk about common red flags, tactics and so much more. Please listen in if you can and share it, talk about it, discuss it. We love you, please be safe! XOXOXOXO

Truth Nation: Case of Ryan Wedding - Episode 48 Welcome to Truth Nation! In episode 48, hosts Bill Bodner and retired Chief Mark Garrett delve into the intricate case of Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder now dubbed by some as a modern-day Pablo Escobar of Canada. The episode explores Wedding's transition from an athlete to a major drug trafficker, his international drug smuggling operations, and his recent capture. The discussion examines the sensationalism in law enforcement narratives, the logistics of cocaine distribution from Mexico to Canada, and the gruesome murders ordered by the Wedding criminal enterprise. Additionally, the episode touches on the role of technology in modern drug trafficking and raises questions about the timing and nature of Wedding's surrender. Tune in for a deep dive into the complexities of this fascinating case.

Dr. Kari Johnstone joins Dr. Sandie Morgan as they discuss how traffickers adapt fast, moving money, victims, and exploitation through digital systems most of us interact with every day, examining whether our institutions are adapting fast enough to protect victims without them risking everything to testify.Dr. Kari JohnstoneDr. Kari Johnstone is the OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, representing the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe at the political level on human trafficking issues and coordinating anti-trafficking efforts across the OSCE region. Before joining the OSCE, Dr. Johnstone spent nearly a decade (2014-2023) as Senior Official, Acting Director, and Principal Deputy Director of the U.S. Department of State's Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (J/TIP), where she advised senior leadership on global trafficking policy and programming and oversaw the annual Trafficking in Persons Report. Her extensive U.S. government service also includes senior roles in the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. Dr. Johnstone holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.Key PointsThe OSCE survey revealed a 17-fold increase in forced criminality cases over five years across the 57 member states, making it the fastest growing form of human trafficking globally.Forced scamming, which originated in Southeast Asia, is now being exported to other regions as criminals adopt this lucrative business model that exploits victims with brutal tactics to defraud others.Technology and artificial intelligence present both challenges and opportunities in combating trafficking, allowing law enforcement to process data more quickly to find victims and perpetrators while also being misused by traffickers for recruitment and exploitation.Financial intelligence and following the money can supplement or even replace victim testimony in prosecutions, reducing the burden on survivors and providing effective pathways to convict traffickers. The non-punishment principle remains woefully inadequate in practice worldwide, with victims often arrested, prosecuted, and convicted for crimes directly related to their trafficking experience, creating lifelong consequences that prevent access to housing, employment, and stability. The United States leads globally on criminal record relief for trafficking survivors, with 48-49 states having vacature or expungement laws and new federal legislation (Trafficking Survivor Relief Act) awaiting presidential signature, though much work remains worldwide.Victim assistance must be unlinked from the criminal justice process, allowing survivors to receive care and services first before deciding whether to cooperate with law enforcement, which actually increases the likelihood they will come forward and participate. The demographics of trafficking victims are shifting beyond stereotypes, with forced scamming targeting educated individuals with IT and language skills, while forced criminality increasingly exploits younger children, including those under age 10, for drug-related crimes and violence.ResourcesOrganization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)OSCE Office of the Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human BeingsProtocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons (UN Palermo Protocol)UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in PersonsU.S. State Department Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in PersonsTrafficking in Persons ReportTrafficking Survivors Relief ActEnding Human Trafficking PodcastTranscriptTranscript will be here when available.
For years, major outlets framed Ghislaine Maxwell with euphemisms like “British socialite” or “heiress,” softening the reality of what she actually did. This language wasn't neutral—it was protective, creating a veneer of glamour and legitimacy around a woman who was actively grooming, recruiting, and enabling the sexual abuse of minors for Jeffrey Epstein. Survivors have long argued that this framing distorted the public's understanding of the crimes and allowed Maxwell to maintain an image of sophistication instead of infamy. Calling her a “socialite” isn't just inaccurate; it's complicit in minimizing the suffering of her victims. It's long past time to strip away that veneer and call Maxwell exactly what she is: a human trafficker. She was convicted in a court of law for sex trafficking and conspiracy to entice minors—crimes that destroyed countless lives. Continuing to use titles like “socialite” or “heiress” plays into the same elite-friendly narrative that let Epstein operate for decades. Words matter. Framing matters. And in this case, the only framing that honors the truth and the victims is the one that calls her by her real identity: a convicted human trafficker, not a jet-setting socialite.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com
