Sometimes we feel unworthy of God's love—and instead of running to Him, we hide, convinced our sin is too great to forgive. We try to earn His favor, but like Adam and Eve, our striving ends in failure and shame. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us of a life-giving Truth: God's love is greater than our sin, and He has already made a way to set us free. Dr. Youssef takes us to John 4, where Jesus deliberately traveled through Samaria—crossing cultural and religious hostility—to meet a Samaritan woman whose life was marked by broken relationships and moral failure. She didn't realize her greatest problem wasn't men, marriage, or even adultery—it was a deep, unsatisfied thirst only Jesus could quench. This devotional helps you see yourself in her story. Without Christ, we become more entangled the harder we fight sin in our own strength. But Jesus comes straight to the point of need—bringing truth to light, uncovering hidden struggles, and offering real freedom. The same Savior who met that woman at the well is ready to meet you today with living water—cleansing, restoring, and renewing all who come to Him. If you need forgiveness, healing, or restoration, this episode is an invitation: come to Christ—and trust Him to make you new. Prayer: Lord, forgive me for the ways I have tried to satisfy my heart-longings apart from You. May I be filled with Your living water today. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:17). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. Praying for forgiveness should be based not only on an appeal to God's mercy, but also on an appeal to his justice in crediting the worth of his Son's obedience.
In part, our identity in Christ is embracing the fact that we were born for reconciliation, where we pursue kingdom justice as the ultimate result. In this message, Kris Vallotton unpacks what justice looks like in the kingdom of God and the essential role of forgiveness and reconciliation in that process. Jesus is the author of true justice, and as His image-bearers, we are designed to reflect it. What does it look like on this side of eternity? How are believers to navigate the moments leading up to justice? As we rediscover the power of forgiveness and the ministry of reconciliation entrusted to us, we pray you are equipped and encouraged to walk out your faith with confidence in the finished work of the Cross, reflecting the heart and nature of Christ in every area of your life. , , , , , Kingdom Justice, ,
What makes “the prayer of a righteous person” so effective? Dr. Michael Youssef points to Daniel's plea in Daniel 9:4–19 as a clear model for believers today—and then highlights the key components you can practice immediately. First, start with praise. Daniel doesn't rush into requests; he begins by magnifying God as “great and awesome,” faithful to His covenant of love (Daniel 9:4). Prayer isn't merely a tool to get what we want—it's fellowship with God, cultivating an intimate relationship through adoration and thanksgiving. Second, confess your sins. Daniel doesn't minimize Israel's guilt or make excuses. He owns it plainly: “we have sinned and done wrong… we have turned away” (Daniel 9:5). Dr. Youssef reminds us that honest confession isn't self-condemnation—it's God's pathway to restore us to the fullness of right relationship with Him. If you've felt stuck in prayer, distracted, or discouraged, this devotional will help you reset your approach: praise God for who He is, confess what He reveals, and pray from a heart that longs to be aligned with Him. Prayer: God, I want to praise You today for Your love and for the gift of salvation. Thank You for giving us Your Word to provide examples like Daniel for us to follow. Forgive my sins, my Redeemer. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Scripture Focus: “The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior!” (Psalm 18:46). Learn more in Dr. Michael A. Psa 51:17 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Pastor Derek explains how a number of theological paradoxes can be resolved, in particular, the difference between relationship (positional truth) and fellowship (temporal truth) scriptures. Understanding these 2 distinct realms allows us to receive both scriptures fully, and apply them correctly, especially in the area of forgiveness.

There are 2 apparently contradictory sets of Scriptures, one of which says we are already fully righteous (justified) and fully forgiven in Christ by His grace (Rom 5:1, 2Cor 5:21, Eph 1:7, 4:32, Col 1:14, ), but the other says that we are lacking in righteousness and so need to seek God for more of His righteousness (Matthew 5:6, 6:33), and that we need to ask for forgiveness, when we sin to be cleansed of all unrighteousness (1John 1:9, Matthew 6:12-15, Mark 11:25-26). How can both sides be true? Many take a simplistic approach of embracing the verses they like, and ignoring or explaining away the rest, for example by saying the teaching of Jesus no longer applies (in contradiction to Matthew 5:19, 7:24-27, 28:18-20). Derek shares that the full truth is found by embracing all the Scriptures as fully true, but there are 2 related realms of truth – relationship truth and fellowship truth. Relationship truth describes what God has done for us in Christ when we received Him as Lord and Saviour. This was all done by God's grace at the moment of salvation and is unconditional, absolute, and unchanging. All our sins are forgiven and we have been justified (declared righteous) before God. Before salvation, we had no relationship with God, we were in the realm of the Courtroom, guilty before the Judge, but when we trusted in Christ, who paid the penalty for us, we were not only forgiven and placed into right-standing with God, but also adopted into His family as His son. So, we now have a new relationship with God by His grace, which move us out of the realm of the Courtroom into the realm of God's Family, where the truths of family fellowship and forgiveness apply. As far as the Courtroom (and our salvation) is concerned there is no condemnation for us in Christ, but as far as our family life with God is concerned, when we sin, we need to confess our sins to God to receive His forgiveness (1John 1:9), in order to keep our heart right with God, and restore our fellowship with Him (see James 4:7-10). Whereas relationship is binary (you either have a relationship with God or you don't), your fellowship with God (the level of the Light of His Presence in your heart) is variable, depending on how close your heart is to God. Moreover, fellowship by its very nature is reciprocal, depending on the will of both people, and therefore variable if one of them is human. Thus, Fellowship Scriptures are conditional, unlike Relationship Scriptures. Relationship truth is foundational, as our fellowship with God is only possible on the grounds of our relationship with Him in Christ. But fellowship truths are also important, for God's purpose in establishing a relationship with us is so that He might have fellowship with us (Isaiah 43:25). Finally, Derek explains why the Relationship-Fellowship distinction is a fundamental part of reality because it originates in the nature of the Triune God, who has a 2-fold unity: (1) of relationship, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit being of one substance, and (2) of fellowship, since they fully give themselves to each other and interpenetrate each other in love (perichoresis).

In this episode, Pastor Ed teaches about some crucial things that Christians should know. John 3:16-1716 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.2 Timothy 3:16-1716 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [a]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.Romans 3:2323 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,Romans 6:2323 For the wages of sin is death, but the [a]gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.Romans 5:88 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.Romans 10:99 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.1 John 1:99 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.John 14:66 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.Psalm 119:1111 Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.Philippians 4:1313 I can do all things through [a]Christ who strengthens me.John 16:3333 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you [a]will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”Psalm 37:1-81 Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.5 Commit[a] your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm.

I have a gift for you today, something that will provide you peace in a way that few things can. That gift is the awareness of the power of forgiveness Forgiveness from AJ Boncore interview on RealMenConnect podcast, he said there are 3 levels of forgiveness Upward, Inward, Outward Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting it to kill someone else My thoughts Need the first two to get to the outward Ideally we'd get the first two as done deal, and focus on outward the rest of our lives, but reality is we need to continue to experience the first two daily to get to the third. We need to ask for forgiveness from God and repent of our sins, and we need to regularly forgive ourselves. 1 John 1:9 says "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. " so in that verse we are told of the importance of confessing our sins and it also assures us that we will be forgiven. This was made possible by the once and for all sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I don't believe our salvation is dependent on repeatedly asking for and receiving forgiveness. Yet it's clear confession and repentance is a part of the daily Christian walk that we should all be living out. On the outward journey, forgiving others, another tip I got from the AJ interview was the power of writing a letter. I also learned this through some counseling I had the last few months. I was challenged to write a letter to someone in my life, my father, that I needed to forgive. My father is no longer alive, so I didn't actually deliver or read that letter to him, I read it to my counselor as if he was that person. It was very powerful to write down what I needed to forgive including how that person's actions and lack of action impacted me. To dig deeper on this topic of forgiveness I encourage you to read the books Total forgiveness and forgiving yourself by RT Kindell. I will probably expand on this topic of forgiveness drawing from those two books in the future. Currently I have in my pile of books I want to read Forgiving Forward, a gift from my friend Allen. I'll let you know after I read it my thoughts on that. I also encourage you to listen to the AJ Boncore interview in its entirety. Link in the show notes. So, in your quiet time with God, be sure to confess your sin that the Holy Spirit is convicting you of. At the same time, be sure to forgive yourself and especially let go of your sins from the distant past that are haunting you. If you continue to beat yourself up over sins you've already been forgiven, the Devil is winning and you are arguably making the statement that you don't believe Christ sacrifice was good enough and you therefore have to finish the job by punishing yourself. Stop doing that. As Paul says in Phillippians 3:13-14 "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
