Listen without ads: www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast Episode summary: This week we continue Allman Brothers Month!Legendary photographer, archivist and Allman Brothers tour manager Kirk West tells the incredible story of his journey from small-town Iowa into the center of American rock-and-roll history. After discovering psychedelics and Chicago blues in the late 1960s, Kirk became an IV meth user and drug dealer. He fled pending charges, landed in the psychedelic communities of Boulder and Northern California, and was eventually identified and arrested while hitchhiking through Nevada with meth and syringes in his backpack. Kirk recounts therapeutic-community rehab, heroin addiction, the murder of his drug-dealing partner, repeated arrests and the camera-store burglary that finally led him back into treatment. He found recovery through one of Florida's earliest Narcotics Anonymous communities—but after five years sober, he attempted to prove that he could drink normally. That experiment ended shortly after John Lennon's murder and ultimately gave Kirk the sobriety date he has maintained ever since. His recovery opened the door to an extraordinary career photographing Bob Marley, Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, the Who, the Clash, Jerry Garcia and countless others. Kirk eventually became the Allman Brothers Band's archivist and tour manager, served as Dickey Betts' sponsor and helped preserve the group's history. He shares intimate stories about Gregg Allman, Duane Allman, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, the Big House in Macon—and the night Lowell George offered him cocaine shortly before his death. How do you make people care about your documentary?Facts alone rarely make an audience care. The emotional core of a documentary lives somewhere else. In this episode of Documentary First, filmmaker Christian Taylor tells the story of how she found the heartbeat her film about the Battle of Carentan was missing. It was not in the archives. It was in the memories of a man who was six years old when the war came for his town. For months, Christian's film Heroes of Carentan felt stuck in what one WWII veteran called the “data of history,” the maps, the dates, and the military maneuvers. Everything shifted when she met Yves Marchais. In June 1944, Yves was a small boy living under German occupation in Carentan, France. This year he sent Christian thirteen letters recording what he remembered, and those letters gave the historical record a soul.It comes down to a lesson every documentary filmmaker learns the hard way: audiences do not connect to issues or information, they connect to people. Anchored by a line from Pfc. John E. Fitzgerald, a runner for Medal of Honor recipient Lt. Col. Robert Cole, this episode argues that the essence of history is not its record but its heartbeat. Yves calls his own account his “hummingbird's share,” not the whole war, but the small, vivid pieces that passed before a child's eyes. His story becomes a lesson in telling a big historical event through one small, personal one.In this episode, you'll learn:Why facts and figures alone rarely move an audienceHow to find the emotional core, or heartbeat, of a documentaryWhy audiences connect to people, not to issues or informationHow to tell a big historical story through one small, personal oneWhat Pfc. John E. Fitzgerald meant when he warned that history can lose its heartbeatWhy one person's story can carry an entire historical eventWhat the “hummingbird's share” is, and why small memories matter more than big onesHow the Battle of Carentan looked through the eyes of a six-year-old boyHow Yves Marchais and his family survived the occupation and liberation of CarentanWhy the story a filmmaker starts with is often not the story worth tellingWhat the series Band of Brothers has to do with the real Battle of CarentanHow to know when your film has finally found its emotional coreChapters:00:00 Meeting a survivor of Carentan01:15 13 letters and Band of Brothers02:26 Life under German occupation04:01 D-Day and the kitchen sink05:27 Fleeing an empty Carentan06:59 The trench and liberation08:45 Colonel Cole and the runner10:57 The lesson: find your heartbeatFrequently Asked Questions:How do you find the emotional core of a documentary?Facts and chronology rarely move an audience on their own. The emotional core, what host Christian Taylor calls the heartbeat, usually lives in one person's specific, lived experience rather than in the broad historical record. In this episode she describes finding it in the memories of Yves Marchais, a French civilian who was six during the Battle of Carentan, and building the film's meaning around his point of view. How do you make an audience care about a documentary subject?Audiences connect to people far more than to issues or information. The most reliable way to make viewers care about a large subject, a war, a movement, a crisis, is to tell it through one specific person whose experience makes the bigger story personal. In this episode, Christian Taylor builds her film about the Battle of Carentan around a single child's memories rather than the broad military record. What was the Battle of Carentan? The Battle of Carentan was a June 1944 fight for the town of Carentan in Normandy, France, a key objective linking the American forces landing at Utah and Omaha beaches. The 101st Airborne Division, including units later made famous by Band of Brothers, fought to take the town, which was liberated on June 12, 1944.Who is Yves Marchais?Yves Marchais is a French man who, as a six-year-old boy, lived through the German occupation and the 1944 liberation of Carentan. Decades later he recorded his childhood memories of the war in a series of letters, which became the emotional core of Christian Taylor's documentary. He calls his account his “hummingbird's share,” the small, true pieces of history he witnessed firsthand. What did Pfc. John Fitzgerald mean about history losing its heartbeat?Pfc. John E. Fitzgerald, who served as a runner for Medal of Honor recipient Lt. Col. Robert Cole, wrote that the data of history should not lose its heartbeat as it becomes information, or all that remains is the record without the essence. Christian Taylor uses that idea as the key to her film: the facts of a battle matter, but the human story is what makes people care.About the Film and the Story:Heroes of Carentan is Christian Taylor's in-production documentary about the 1944 liberation of Carentan, Normandy, told through the people who lived it. Yves Marchais was six years old during the battle. His firsthand account of the occupation, the bombing, his family's escape through a deserted town, and the moment of liberation forms the emotional center of the film. This episode is the second part of Christian's story about finding that center.About Documentary First:Documentary First is a weekly podcast about the craft, business, and truth of documentary filmmaking. Host Christian Taylor is a documentary filmmaker (The Girl Who Wore Freedom), actor, voice actor, and podcast host based in the United States. Each week she explores what it takes to tell true stories that move people, through interviews with filmmakers and solo episodes drawn from her own work.Resources Mentioned:The Colonel and the Runner, by Pfc. Stay Still: The 90-Second Battle You Need to Win

I was watching baby bunnies outsmart my dog Bear on our morning walk, and it hit me harder than I expected. These bunnies could run, they're fast enough to escape, but they stayed completely still and Bear walked right past them. That image unlocked something I talk about in depth in my book: most of us run from adversity when the smarter move is to hold our ground. In this episode, I break down the 90-second science behind why staying calm in crisis isn't just a cliche, it's the difference between a manageable problem and a monster you created by fleeing. Key Takeaways Just because you can run from adversity does not mean you should. Fleeing costs you energy and distance from your goals. Every adverse thought has a 90-second life cycle in your brain. Win that window and the fear loses its power. When you run from problems, past trauma and old fears attach themselves to the new thought, making it exponentially heavier. Most of what you think is chasing you is not actually hunting you. The problem looks bigger because you are moving away from your position. Staying still under pressure is a trained response, not a passive one. You decide in advance how you will respond before adversity arrives. Action Steps Before your next stressful situation arrives, set the intention out loud: for the next 90 seconds I will not run, excuse, or catastrophize. When a difficult thought hits, track 90 seconds. Breathe and refuse to let past failures or future fears attach to the present moment. Identify one area where you have been consistently fleeing instead of holding your ground, and commit to standing still there this week. Notable Quote Most of what we're running from in life isn't really looking for us. It's because you're running that the problem keeps compounding.

Joseph's story in Genesis 39 is a powerful reminder that God's presence does not depend on our circumstances. Sold into slavery, falsely accused, and thrown into prison, Joseph remained faithful at every stage because his eyes were fixed on God rather than on his situation. When temptation came through Potiphar's wife, he did not negotiate or linger. He fled, because he understood that sin is first and foremost an offense against a holy God. Doing the right thing did not spare him from suffering, but it did not separate him from God either. The Lord was with Joseph in the pit, in the palace, and in the prison, and He is with us in the same way today.

In 1916, Zurich was a beacon for refugees. Fleeing the death and destruction of World War I, artists and free-thinkers from all over Europe fled to the neutral Swiss city. And it was here that the people who would start the art movement Dada came together. In a rare interview from 1959, held in the BBC archive, Richard Huelsenbeck describes how the group of young artists and pacifists shared a despair about the war and a disgust for bourgeois values. At the Cabaret Voltaire, he and the Romanian-born poet Tristan Tzara, the French sculptor Jean Arp and Romanian-born artist Marcel Janco experimented. Performances were known for their spontaneity, chance and absurdity - a departure from the conventional which confronted audiences. It was the beginning of an aesthetic which would spread across Europe and to New York City, eventually influencing Surrealism and later punk. This episode is produced and presented by Josephine McDermott.Eye-witness accounts brought to life by archive. Witness History is for those fascinated by and curious about the past. In Episode 303, we are continuing our sub-series on how different temperaments navigate healthy, holy conflict resolution. Today, we are pointing the spotlight at the joyful, popular, and peace-loving Sanguine.Using our 4-step conflict resolution framework, PACE (Pause, Assume Goodwill, Clarify, Engage), Matt and Erin break down exactly where Sanguines naturally shine—and where they hit major relational roadblocks. In this episode, you'll discover:• The Sanguine Trap: How the fast but short-lived intensity of Sanguine anger can trick you into thinking you're "over it" when resentment is actually building underneath.• The Vices of Inconstancy & Mollis: Why avoiding the "arduous" work of deep conversations leads to shallow reconciliation.• The "FACE" Method in the Pause: How external accountability and targeted journaling can slow down your thinking and keep you focused.• Scripting for Clarity: Powerful phrases (like "I might be wrong about this, but...") to inject your natural warmth into tough, fact-based dialogues.• St. Philip Neri's Secret: How the ultimate Sanguine saint modeled heroic forgiveness and holy joy without avoiding reality.Whether you are a Sanguine looking to move from superficial harmony to true relational depth, married to one, or coaching someone with a high-spirited personality, this episode offers practical, repeatable mindset strategies to move toward real unity.Send us Fan MailSupport the show____________________► Make sure to SUBSCRIBE to the Metanoia Catholic YouTube Channel!► Discover How God Is Speaking to You In Prayer► Find out your temperament: Take the Free Quiz► Get the Conversation Starter Guide (FREE) ► Take the Quiz: WHAT TYPE OF COACH ARE YOU?► GET THE DAILY SEVEN JOURNAL!This interactive journal will help you transform your life from the inside out by teaching you how to grow in gratitude, set healthy goals, and gain mastery over your thoughts.► JOIN THE ACADEMY!Your online resource of classes, tools, and community to ramp up your growth and really change your life. 4th Step – On Obedience The Ladder of Divine Ascent was written primarily for monks. However, the words of Saint John Climacus at the beginning of the first chapter indicate that his intention is to address every person who longs for salvation. He says: “The gates of eternal life are open to all. The goal of our life is to follow Christ and to become like Him in His divine love.”

A @Christadelphians Video: **YouTube Summary/Description**We continue our outstanding expositional journey through the life of Joseph, uncovering a deeply thought-provoking truth: delay is not abandonment. When the road keeps going down—from slavery to false accusation to prison—how do we keep trusting God? This revealing study of Genesis 39–41 shows us that waiting is not the same as being forgotten. The dream wasn't dead; it was being held until God's perfect time.We witness Joseph in Potiphar's house, where God's presence is unmistakable, only to enter a sudden silence—the very place where Joseph's faith speaks loudest. The relentless temptation, the false accusation staged with a garment, and the descent into the prison house all lead us to a wonderful truth: the closed door does not mean God is absent. Through Psalm 105, we see the iron entering his soul, refining him like metal in fire. Then, in the darkness, a glorious shadow of Christ appears—the innocent sufferer between two transgressors, the cup and the bread, and the cry “Remember me.” Finally, at the appointed time, the door swings open. Joseph stands before Pharaoh at thirty years old, trusted, tested, and honoured. The garments tell the whole arc: favour, false guilt, humiliation, and glory—pointing unmistakably to the Lord Jesus Christ. This is an insightful, inspiring study for anyone facing a season of silence. Let us learn to be faithful in ordinary days, to flee from temptation without looking back, and to be ready when God opens the door.**Chapters**00:00 – Introduction: When the Road Keeps Going Down 05:15 – The Silence of God: Faith in the Dark 07:04 – Temptation in Potiphar's House: Day by Day 13:41 – The False Accusation: Garment and Lie 16:53 – From Pit to Prison: The House of Confinement 22:23 – The Iron Entering His Soul (Psalm 105) 25:18 – The Prison Preaches Christ: Butler, Baker, Remembrance 28:51 – The Refining Word: Two Years of Silence 32:10 – The Door Opens: Joseph Before Pharaoh 34:00 – The Hand: Trusted, Tested, Honoured 36:53 – The Garments: Favour, Guilt, Humiliation, Glory 38:10 – The Age of Thirty: Prepared in Silence 39:30 – Three Lessons: Faithfulness, Fleeing, Readiness 41:40 – Conclusion: The Key Is in God's Hand**Bible Verse Category**

Silicon Bites Ep358 | 2026-06-24 | They stole it. They sunbathed on it. They shipped their children to it. Now the petrol's gone — and that, finally, is the thing that is forcing Russians to flee Crimea. Today: ISLAND CRIMEA. Sunday morning, the twenty-first of June. Nine o'clock local time. And across the entire occupied Crimean Peninsula, the petrol pumps stop. Not rationed. Not coupon-only. Stopped. Sergey Aksyonov, the Kremlin's man in Simferopol, posts the order to Telegram: from this hour, fuel goes only to the state. Petrol will be sold solely to the government agencies that keep the peninsula running and secure — and to nobody else. Not to you. Not to your car. Not to the tourist stranded sixty kilometres from a working tank. This is the prize Vladimir Putin seized in 2014 and called forever Russian. The sunlit trophy. The symbol of resurgent empire. And on a summer Sunday it cannot fill a single civilian fuel tank. Tonight: how Ukraine turned a trophy into an island, an asset into a liability — and why people who holidayed on stolen land will be stopped not by conscience, but by queue.----------ACTIVE CAMPAIGN:We are raising funds for 5 of 15 Vampire DronesSilicon Curtain for Kupiansk Vampires. Marshall introduces wealthy executive Robert Bayswell, a man whose endless "business trips" to New York have quietly covered a five-year affair with his mistress, Lolly "Dolores" Harbison. When Bayswell decides to end the relationship and return to his wife Martha, a struggle over a loaded .38 revolver sets a chain of events in motion — one that draws in nightclub photographer Julie Palmer and homicide detective Sergeant DeLuca, both circling a death no one can quite explain.2000 Plus delivers the science-gone-wrong terror of "The Giant Walks," in which the obsessed Dr. Ellsworth, having used a pituitary revitalizer to breed giant rats four feet long, sets his sights on the next logical subject — a human being. His powerfully built test subject Barstow is grown to thirty feet of muscle and bone, while uneasy assistant Weston watches the experiment spiral past anything Ellsworth can hope to control. The Unexpected stars radio's Lurene Tuttle in "Nightmare," the tale of understudy actress Jenny, who answers her door to a hideous, dwarf-like old peddler selling two dolls — one that cries and one that laughs. Against the peddler's strange warning, she chooses the laughing doll, and its contagious, mocking laughter begins to follow her everywhere she goes, into the theater, the subway, and her sleepless nights.Unsolved Mysteries presents a true-style ghost story told by foreign correspondent Jackson, who recalls a visit to a centuries-old medieval castle in Northumberland, England, complete with drawbridge, moat, and turrets — and its resident phantom, the Lady Evelyn, said to warn the family of any impending disaster. Sleeping in the haunted wing, Jackson is roused by a figure who writes a message in letters of fire across the stone wall, a warning tied to the RMS Titanic.Dark Venture stars William Conrad in "Hideout," the confession of small-time gambler Sam, who sits in on one of Phil Collins's famous high-stakes poker games, wins and loses a fortune, and ends the night shooting political big shot Mike Barnes. Fleeing to Chicago and a rooming house run by Dave Jordan, Sam stumbles into a carnival fortune teller, Madame Zara, who reads the cards and tells him he will die within three days at the hands of a man with white hair — just as hired killer Whitey Burke begins closing in.The Weird Circle summons its bellkeeper for the immortal Robert Louis Stevenson tale "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," in which Dr. Henry Jekyll brews a potion meant to separate the good and evil halves of a single man. The draught gives life to the stooped, deformed, and wholly malevolent Edward Hyde, who terrorizes the streets of London while lawyer Mr. Utterson, Dr. Lanyon, and the faithful butler Poole try to understand what their friend has unleashed. The Whistler brings the Signal-sponsored noir "Danger Is a Beautiful Blonde," as bored construction engineer Van Stevens, killing time in a small coast city on a Saturday night, is picked up on the street by a beautiful young blonde in a slick convertible. She drives him to a seaside mansion full of priceless art, and the flirtation turns to ice the moment she asks him to look under her bed — where a dead man lies hidden.Strange Wills stars distinguished Hollywood actor Warren William as attorney John Francis O'Connell in "Madman's Diary," a probate-court reading of the last testament of the late Professor Lucifer Nicolai. The diary records the professor's decade-long obsession: an electromagnetic experiment to separate the human mind from the body and hurl it backward along light waves into the past. His subject, a young orphan named Alice, is sent first to the age of King Arthur and Guinevere, then far deeper — a quarter-million years before Christ. The Witch's Tale, narrated by 122-year-old Nancy, the Witch of Salem, and her wise black cat Satan, tells "The Haunted Crossroads," where state troopers keep dying at a barren Massachusetts intersection — each one stabbed in the back in a spot so open no killer could possibly reach him and flee unseen. After young Trooper Tom Fallon falls beside his uncle Sergeant Pat McGee and friend Gene Hardy, the only clue is a woman's cold laughter in the dark and a curse reaching back to 1721 and a hanged woman named Goody Fairfax.X Minus One, hosted by Isaac Asimov, presents "Hostess," the story of biologist Rose Smollett, who brings home a guest from another world — the Hawkinsite physician Dr. Harg Tolan, a six-limbed being who breathes cyanide from a cylinder at his mouth. Tolan has come to Earth to study the dreaded "inhibition death," the wasting illness that kills his people, and his quiet questions about the missing persons bureau begin to unsettle Rose's policeman husband, Drake.Masters of Mystery offers the island thriller "Four Fatal Jugglers," in which business partners Gordon Penrose and Dave Copeland — tangled together by Gordon's wife Lydia and her demands for a divorce — head off for a weekend of duck hunting on a tiny, isolated island in the middle of a lake. Lydia's protective brother Bob is drawn in too, and with old grudges, suspicions of murder-by-hunting-accident, and a hunting knife in play, the trip becomes a deadly game of who can be trusted.Strange Adventure closes the night with a desert tale of two weather-beaten prospectors, gangling Slim Sandstone and his stocky partner Geordie Gaines, who walk into the bank of George Alden and deposit a canvas sack half-filled with uncut diamonds. Their secret field out on the desert is rich beyond belief, and the greedy banker schemes to maneuver the pair out of their claim — never suspecting what a salted diamond strike can teach a smart financial tycoon.

Motion Church | Warrior Poet Society, Week 2: "Lessons on the Lamb" Season two of the David series backtracks a bit this week — picking up not after the Bathsheba scandal, but earlier, when Saul is still king and wants David dead. "Not the kind of situation you want to find yourself in." Jealous and paranoid over David's growing popularity (there was literally a chorus about him: "Saul has slain his thousands, David his tens of thousands"), Saul starts hurling actual spears at him. So David goes "on the lamb" — on the run — which gives this message its title: Lessons on the Lamb. First lesson: strength doesn't always look like what we think it looks like. Even though David once stood fearlessly before Goliath, here he is running from a "washed up warrior." Why? Because David understood it wasn't his timing or his fight to pick. "There are battles in your life... that only God can fight." Sometimes the strongest thing a person can do isn't retaliate — it's walk away. "If I respond, it is not peace. It is debris, it is chaos, it is destruction, and I may feel right or think that it's right, but it doesn't make it right." Discernment — sometimes in the form of a spouse saying "babe" — matters. "Strength doesn't always look like you think that strength looks. It's a different kind of strength." Second lesson, and maybe the coolest full-circle moment in David's life: old swords, new battles. After defeating Goliath, David took the giant's own sword as a trophy. Years later, fleeing from Saul and desperate for a weapon, David arrives at the tabernacle in Nob, and the priest Ahimelech tells him there's only one sword available — Goliath's, wrapped in cloth, practically forgotten. David's response: "There is none like it. Give it to me." The lesson lands personally: "The battles from your past are the weapons for your future." Nothing you've gone through was wasted. "God does not waste anything in our lives." And the weapon isn't just for you — "it helps other people too." The final lesson is what gets called a "looney lesson." Fleeing into enemy territory — the city of Gath, ruled by King Achish — David realizes he's been recognized and is in real danger. So he does something wild: he pretends to be insane, scratching on the gate and drooling into his beard, until Achish dismisses him as a madman not worth the trouble. "Sometimes doing the right thing will make you look like a mad person." When you're doing what God has called you to do, "it's not always going to make sense to other people." And that's fine — "our purpose is more than to impress people. We are here to honor the sacrifice of Jesus' life on the cross." After all, the message of the cross itself looked like foolishness to the world — "the one who knew no sin became sin on my behalf... it's foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God." Three lessons from a man on the run: a different kind of strength, old swords for new battles, and sometimes a little bit of "crazy" is exactly what faithfulness looks like.

SHORT DESCRIPTION Major corporations are abandoning blue-state headquarters, and the reason may not be what most people think. Tara and Roger examine claims that companies are increasingly relocating because of legal environments and court systems rather than taxes. Plus, a closer look at high-profile lawsuits, corporate relocation trends, and concerns about judicial fairness. FEATURED STORIES 1. Corporate Headquarters Continue Moving South A growing number of major corporations have relocated headquarters from traditionally blue states to states such as Florida and Texas. While tax policy is often cited as the primary reason, Tara argues that legal and judicial environments are becoming a larger factor in relocation decisions. 2. Exxon Signals Court Concerns Exxon's relocation was highlighted as one of the first examples where company leadership openly referenced legal and regulatory concerns. Executives emphasized the importance of operating in jurisdictions where judges, juries, and lawmakers understand the energy industry. 3. Florida Emerging as Corporate Safe Haven The discussion focused on Florida's growing appeal to large corporations seeking what they view as a more predictable legal environment. Tara argues that businesses increasingly view certain states as offering greater legal certainty and protection from politically motivated litigation. 4. The Zuckerberg Example Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg was cited as an example of a corporate leader facing legal challenges in blue-state jurisdictions. Tara argues that lawsuits targeting major technology companies are influencing where executives choose to base operations and investments. 5. Trump Cases Continue To Influence Corporate Thinking The show examined several legal cases involving President Trump, arguing that corporate executives are closely watching how courts handle politically charged litigation and adjusting business strategies accordingly. KEY TAKEAWAYS Corporate relocations may increasingly be driven by legal concerns rather than tax policy alone. Florida and Texas continue attracting major corporate headquarters. Business leaders are paying close attention to litigation risks and court jurisdictions. Concerns over judicial predictability are becoming a larger factor in corporate decision-making. High-profile political and corporate lawsuits are shaping relocation strategies nationwide. QUOTE OF THE DAY "They're not moving because of taxes anymore. They're moving because of the courts." The podcast is continuing with our obscure 70s features. We had a good time with Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things last time we recorded.  We've already covered Black Christmas and Deranged by the same film makers but there's another film from 1974, directed by Bob Clark and written by Alan Ormsby that is probably their least known work.  With makeup effects by Tom Savini!  We hope you enjoy our Horror 101 treatment of Dead of Night, AKA Deathdream.Show Highlights:01:00  Prelude to Terror04:30  Choosing tonight's film...10:30  Florida or Vietnam?12:20  The Worst News...16:00  Coming Home...19:40  Something is Different...22:20  The Brutal End of Butch28:00  Fatal Physical...32:05  Undead Double Date...40:30  Face me, Andy...42:45  Fleeing to Resting Place...46:15  Anti-War Sentiments...49:20  Scoring the Film...58:05  Conclusion!  Thanks for Listening!

In 1982, theologian John Stott predicted that as electronic networks made personal relationships "ever less necessary," the fellowship of the local church would become increasingly important — not less. Brian From reads that quote in 2026 and can barely believe how precisely it describes this moment. That thread runs through this entire hour. Pope Leo's new statement on AI warns that the real danger isn't machines becoming too human, but humans becoming more like machines — efficient, optimized, and stripped of transcendence, mystery, and community. Can we be friends across political lines? Jimmy Kimmel choking up at Adam Carolla's Walk of Fame ceremony suggests maybe yes. A sweet story about an eight-year-old girl who tossed a paper airplane over her fence asking her neighbor to play Taylor Swift — and Taylor Swift herself showing up with signed guitars. Brian's son's playoff baseball team hangs on for another game as graduation weekend approaches and the emotions start arriving. A practical look at what it actually means to flee from sin — and why the Bible makes it so active: be alert, avoid, strive, throw off, run. And a word for everyone navigating change: God is immutable, and that changes everything.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Knapton claims self-defense, and told responding officers that the burglars came at him. Unfortunately, his own home surveillance footage casts doubt on this narrative of self-defense. Even worse, Knapton's self-defense statements to police, while intended to be exculpatory, are actually likely to be used by the prosecution to incriminate him further than the damaging video alone.
