Is there one of us who knows thoroughly what the evil of sin is? I do not think there is. If any one of us were to see the depravity of his own heart, he would lose his reason. Concealed within sin there lurks a measureless world of mischief; who can know it? Were it not that the infinite satisfaction resulting from the atoning sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ is ever present before the eye of the great God, He would at once ease Him of His adversaries, and sweep both sin and sinners out of the world.

Seven Biblical people confessed they had sinned. How many of them had truly repented? A call to the unrepentant to confess their sins.
Psalm 106 brings us to give thanks to God for His enduring steadfast love, shown to His people even in their sin. This psalm recounts both the LORD's mighty works for Israel and Israel's acts of rebellion. Israel's history is littered with their rebellious idolatry, all the way from Egypt through the wilderness and into the Promised Land. Nonetheless, the LORD gave them intercessors like Moses and Phineas along the way, and He saved His people in accordance with His promise. Because we are confident in the LORD's abundant mercy, we cry out to Him in confession of our own sins still today, knowing that He forgives us and saves us for the sake of Jesus. Rev. Doug Minton, pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford, IL, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Psalm 106. "Psalms of Thanksgiving” is a series on Sharper Iron that looks to several psalms to help us give thanks to God. The LORD gives blessings to His whole creation, even all evil people. As we pray the psalms, He teaches us to receive all His gifts with thanksgiving, knowing that He is good and His steadfast love endures forever. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org
Sin breaks our relationship with God, and unconfessed sin creates a burden that we were never intended to carry. This burden puts a cap on our transformation and it prevents us from becoming like Christ. But confession is the bridge that connects us back to God.
Steve Klein -- Confession of Sin
CMFI Annual prayer and fasting crusade - KOUME2024
The Apostle John clearly states that those who walk in darkness and discredit the reality of sin are not Christians. But true believers confess their sins to God. So, let us walk in the light by seeing our sins, confessing them, and trusting that Jesus cleanses His people from all their sins.

When we confess our sins, we're not telling God something he doesn't know; we're giving God access to something he doesn't have: permission to heal our wounds. Today we learn why the act of confessing our sins is an essential part of the sacrament of Reconciliation. Fr. Mike also clarifies the difference between absolution, penance, and satisfaction. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1455-1460. Why should we confess our sin? Confession is coming home to the One Who loves us most. We confess our sin to find joy, to walk honestly with God, to receive God's rescue, and to have a deeper walk with God. This message was preached by Pastor Erick Cobb on June 2, 2024.
