DNC activated the spirit of healing and unity that every American is feeling. There were a significant number of lifelong Republicans at the DNC who endorsed Joe Biden over Donald Trump. Barack Obama spoke about the expectations of leadership in Democracy. Obama believes that Donald Trump has misused and abused the office of Presidency to help him and his friends enrich themselves. RNC nominated Donald Trump as the president. Donald Trump avoided every issue people of colour are facing in America during the RNC. RNC saw a lack of diversity. Black and brown faces were amplified but their thoughts weren’t. RNC took a very aggressive tone. Many speakers spoke directly against peaceful protests. America has had many different political parties in its 232 year history. We had the Know Nothing Party, the Socialist Party, the Green Party, and many others. One lesser known party from the 1830’s was the Anti-Masonic Party. It was a precursor of the Republican Party, and as their name suggests they were dedicated to rooting out the influence of Free Masonry in government. They believed the secrecy of the Masonic Order was dangerous and that through the influence of Free Masons in high positions the society was too powerful. Republican congressmen, Thaddeus Stevens, was the leading voice for the abolition of slavery during the Civil War. He had also been a former member of the Anti-Masonic party. He said about Free Masons in government in the mid-19th century, that they had "contrived by concert" to place themselves into most of the positions of high profit and power. The Anti-Masonic Party may not be around today, but the threat they feared of secret societies such as Free Masonry controlling the government may be alive and thriving. In September 1826, a bricklayer from Batavia, New York disappeared. His disappearance caused a national sensation. The Freemasons were blamed for the disappearance because Morgan was a man who wanted to be accepted into the Masons, was rejected and threatened to disclose the rituals of the secret society. His disappearance led to the formation of the first third political party in American history, the Anti-Masonic Party. Freemasons claim Morgan jumped on a boat in Lake Ontario and disappeared forever. The Anti-masons claim the Freemasons murdered him by tossing him in the Niagara River. The important part to remember is the political upheaval caused by the disappearance of one man.
