After 24-year-old Brianna Vibert disappeared in the early morning hours of July 15, 2017, investigators were tasked with trying to piece together a timeline from scattered surveillance footage, witness statements, and conflicting accounts from the people who had been around her that night. But as the days turned into weeks, and then weeks turned into years, the case only became more complicated. The deeper they looked into the circumstances surrounding Brianna's disappearance, the more questions they uncovered. Timelines overlapped in strange ways, and what social media posts captured in real time seemed to conflict with later statements. Some people who initially appeared cooperative later stopped speaking altogether, while others began making comments that many found deeply unsettling.Family members continued digging, and the case began expanding far beyond the question of who Brianna was last seen with. Concerns about drugs, exploitation, unstable relationships, possible trafficking, and other missing women in the Flint area all started to collide with Brianna's story in ways that became difficult to untangle. And nearly a decade later, many of the same questions still remain unanswered. If you have any information about the disappearance of Brianna Vibert, please contact the Flint Township Police Department at (810) 600-3250 or Crime Stoppers of Flint and Genesee County at 1-800-422-JAIL (5245), visit P3Tips.com, or submit a tip through the P3 Tips mobile app.If you have a missing loved one that you would like to have featured on the show, please fill out our case submission form.Follow The Vanished on social media at:FacebookInstagramPatreonSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Just after midnight on July 15, 2017, 24-year-old Brianna Vibert walked into a Marathon gas station near her home in Flint Township, Michigan. She was visibly upset and had a cut on her arm. The clerk working that night recognized Brianna because she often came into the store. Brianna told him that she had gotten into a fight with her boyfriend and was looking for a ride.A short time later, a man driving a red Pontiac Aztec pulled into the parking lot. According to the clerk, it appeared Brianna didn't know the man, but she asked him for a ride anyway. At first, he declined and drove away. But after leaving, he changed his mind and returned to the gas station to pick her up. Around 1 AM, Brianna left with the man and disappeared into the night. Two days later, on July 17, 2017, Brianna's family reported her missing to the Flint Township Police Department. By then, they had already begun piecing together parts of Brianna's final known movements. They learned about the unknown man in the red Aztec and discovered that, roughly 30 minutes after leaving the gas station, Brianna had contacted a friend she sometimes stayed with after arguments with her boyfriend. Brianna asked if she could spend the night there. The friend agreed, but Brianna never arrived. As investigators retraced Brianna's movements, the case quickly became more complicated. Surveillance footage revealed additional stops after Brianna left the Marathon station. Her belongings later surfaced in strange places. Witness accounts shifted, timelines stopped lining up, and investigators were left trying to determine whether the people surrounding Brianna were withholding information about her disappearance or hiding something else entirely.

Pablo Juarez-Bertadillo is a predator caught in a Genesee County, Michigan investigation.  At the time of the sting, Juarez had been living in Burton, Michigan. He unlawfully immigrated to the United States from Mexico sometime around 2019. He worked in roofing. Juarez had been communicating with a decoy posing as a fifteen-year-old girl. At first, Juarez discussed paying $100 for sex with the girl. After learning of her age, he responded "oh really," followed by immediately requesting her address. Juarez asked the decoy if she was available and whether she was a police officer. Upon being assured that she was not, Juarez said that he would be at the location within five minutes. Seeing the impending confrontation as a test to his language skills, Chris told the decoy that he would need to utilize what he learned from his four years of honors-level Spanish classes in high school. When asked why he came to the house, Juarez told Chris that it was to work on the roof. In response, Chris asked Juarez how to say "bullshit" in Spanish.  Sponsored by: AquaTru: Head to https://AquaTru.com & use code HANSEN for 20% off your purifier and a 30-day best-tasting water guarantee.  TruthFinder.com. As part of the presentation, CEO Tim Herman noted two central themes that emerged while developing the organization's latest annual report: change and collaboration. He pointed to a shifting landscape shaped by a new federal administration, evolving state-level policies, and the continued growth of artificial intelligence, among other factors. “Through all of this, the Flint & Genesee Group stayed focused on advancing the Forward Together vision of making Flint & Genesee a top-five county in Michigan by 2040,” said Herman. “And we did that by working together to improve outcomes in the spaces of jobs, talent, livability, and equity.” Herman also emphasized the critical role of partnerships in driving these efforts forward. “The work we do absolutely could not be done without others,” he said. “Strong, intentional partnerships are essential to achieving meaningful, long-term impact across our community.” The annual report noted that — in addition to helping businesses understand and prepare for new laws that went into effect in 2025 — the Flint & Genesee Chamber established the Mid-Michigan Nonprofit Professionals. It also revitalized the Disability Works committee with support from partners at the Genesee Intermediate School District, The Disability Network, Peckham Industries, Genesee County Parks, and other leading organizations. Additionally, the Flint & Genesee Economic Alliance closed on three major development deals that will result in $50.5 million of private investment and the creation of 317 new jobs for Genesee County. These included Fluid Cooling Systems, Custom Air Handling, and Miller Industries. Finally, the Flint & Genesee Group advocated on behalf of the region's business community, specifically around bills that pertained to work in business, talent, and place, such as the Earned Sick Time Act and the Improved Workforce Opportunity Wage Act. It also celebrated being awarded a Top Workplaces honor by the Detroit Free Press for the third consecutive year. Please note that the highlights included here just skim the surface of all that was accomplished in 2025. For a more thorough overview, visit AnnualReport.FlintandGenesee.org.

Margarette Eby was murdered in 1986. In an investigation led by Genesee County (MI) Prosecutor Arthur Busch and the Michigan State Police, two cold case rape-murders were solved using the most advance forensic science available.Key details regarding the case:Date: She was found on November 9, 1986, having last been seen on November 7, 1986.Location: She was murdered in her home at the Mott family estate in Flint, Michigan.Perpetrator: Jeffrey Gorton, a sprinkler system installer who worked on the estate, was identified via DNA evidence and charged in 2002.Outcome: Gorton pleaded no contest in Genesee County, Michigan (Flint) to the murder and was sentenced to life in prison. We walk you through how a partial print on a faucet and carefully stored biological evidence waited years for the right moment, then unlocked a chain of breakthroughs that tied two murders to one man.We break down why so many late‑20th‑century investigations stalled: reliance on eyewitness memory, confessions, and limited lab tests that hinted at guilt but rarely proved identity. Then we zoom into the tools that changed the map. AFIS took fingerprint comparison from magnifying glasses to searchable databases, and STR DNA profiling built full genetic identities from the tiniest trace. With CODIS linking labs across states, an old profile from Flint collided with a new profile from a hotel near an airport, revealing a single serial predator hiding in plain sight. Along the way, we revisit the Mary Sullivan case in Boston and the capture of the Golden State Killer to show how forensic genealogy fills gaps when offenders aren't in criminal databases. What ties it all together isn't luck—it's infrastructure. Proper evidence storage turns slides and swabs into time‑delayed witnesses. Dedicated cold case units create focus where daily caseloads can't. Updated databases make every new arrest, every new algorithm, and every fresh upload ripple across past scenes. For families, a late arrest doesn't erase loss, but it affirms that loved ones were not forgotten. For offenders, the takeaway is stark: time no longer offers cover. If this story moved you, subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review telling us which case changed your view of cold case work. He is mostly known for his large ears, muscular build, and passive aggressive attitude during his arrest and interview.  Barrett was born in August of 1985. In a joint operation between the Blount County Sheriff's office and the Genesee County, Michigan G.H.O.S.T. Team, Barrett, under the alias of "Alex," had a sexually charged conversation with the decoy who pretended to be a fifteen-year-old girl.  Barrett was initially skeptical of meeting, fearing that the decoy was actually a set-up to rob him, but eventually calmed his nerves after the decoy sent him a picture of herself. Barrett showed up to the sting house carrying bottles of Coca-Cola and a bottle of Apple Crown Royal whisky. He asked the decoy if she wanted her drink mixed, to which she responded that she wants "a heavy pour," like any normal fifteen-year-old girl would ask for. In 1952, a saloon killing in a small Upper Peninsula town became one of the most important—and controversial—criminal trials in Michigan history. The lawyer who defended the accused was John D. Voelker: former county prosecutor, defense attorney, future Michigan Supreme Court justice, and a gifted writer who would later publish the landmark legal novel Anatomy of a Murder under the pen name Robert Traver. In this episode of Flint Justice, Arthur Busch examines:the real Big Bay homicide that inspired the book, how Voelker transformed a trial transcript into one of the most realistic courtroom novels ever written, andwhat Anatomy of a Murder still teaches us about prosecutors, defense lawyers, juries, and reasonable doubt. This is not a story about tidy verdicts or cinematic courtroom speeches. It's about ambiguity, discretion, community judgment, and the uncomfortable truth that justice is often shaped by what can be proven—not what actually happened. For lawyers, judges, and communities like Flint and Genesee County, Anatomy of a Murder remains a mirror held up to the justice system itself.Photography by Jim Hansen, LOOK Magazine Photograph Collection, Library of CongressWe would like to hear from you! Judge Milton Mack shares his mission to reform the mental health system by moving from crisis intervention to early treatment and prevention. His groundbreaking work in Michigan demonstrates how changing laws and procedures can dramatically improve outcomes while reducing costs. • Moving from an inpatient model to an outpatient world where over 90% of mental health care now occurs • Changing intervention standards to help people before they reach crisis, not waiting for the "magic moment" of danger • Implementing mediation for mental health cases to increase engagement and compliance • Creating a system that reduces trauma by avoiding unnecessary hospitalization and incarceration • Demonstrating success through Genesee County's 70% reduction in hospitalization and 90% treatment compliance • Building coordinated stakeholder systems where law enforcement, hospitals, courts and treatment providers work together • Focusing on upstream solutions to prevent people from entering the criminal justice system • Recognizing that early intervention in mental health is as important as early intervention for cancer We need to intervene early—we wouldn't wait to treat someone with cancer when they're stage four, and we do just as much damage by waiting to treat mental illness. Predators I've Caught With Chris Hansen

Brian Russell Jenkinson is an alleged predator caught in a Genesee County, Michigan investigation of Takedown with Chris Hansen.  At the time of the sting, Jenkinson lived in Lapeer, Michigan. He worked in construction, building roads and working on asphalt. Jenkinson has three children. At the time, they were 22, 7, and 13 years of age. He was unable to see his thirteen-year-old daughter for unknown reasons. Jenkinson has an extensive criminal history, with arrests for Attempted Larceny, Attempted Breaking and Entering, Identity Theft, and Theft of a Financial Transaction Device. He was also charged in Arizona with Assault Causing Injury and Disorderly conduct, although those charges were dismissed.  Jenkinson had been communicating with a decoy posing as a fifteen-year-old girl. Jenkinson agreed to pay her $100 to have penetrative sex and to receive oral sex. When he was told the address of the sting house, Jenkinson asked the decoy if she was affiliated with law enforcement, saying, "I just don't want you trying to set me up." Jenkinson also agreed to smoke marijuana with the decoy. When Jenkinson arrived at the sting house, Chris began reading from the chat log where Jenkinson talked about "suck and f***." Jenkinson denied ever saying anything sexual to the decoy. Instead, Jenkinson blamed the decoy, claiming that she was the one talking about sexual acts. He also defended himself by saying that, despite the decoy stating her age, she never mentioned it again. Should You Move to Lake Fenton Michigan? (The Reality Is This) - There's a lake in Michigan that locals swear by — but almost no one outside Genesee County talks about it. It's where people live like they're on vacation but still make it to work by eight, where pontoon parties collide with paddleboard mornings, and where sunsets look like they've been Photoshopped. That's Lake Fenton. And before you start packing your floaties and checking Zillow, let's talk about what it's really like to live here — the good, the bad, and the stuff you only find out once your neighbor waves at you from their boat at seven in the morning.Lake Fenton sits in Fenton Township, just south of Flint and about fifteen minutes north of downtown Fenton. The township covers roughly thirty-one square miles, with the lake itself being the showstopper — sprawling across about eight hundred forty-five acres of sparkling blue water and surrounded by about fifty-six hundred year-round residents. This isn't one of those sleepy seasonal places that goes silent after Labor Day. Lake Fenton stays active all year, with just as many ice shanties and snowmobiles in January as there are jet skis and pontoons in July. It's not a vacation destination, it's a lifestyle.MENTIONED LINKS ⬇️Fenton Michigan Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1h_-ctKra8Holly Michigan Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-HCBLYj4F4Linden Michigan Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwR5H2tdF7MGrand Blanc Michigan Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNxbj9Nt3M0CONTACT ME
