Ahmed describes the weekly 18-month March as a 'Scream for Life' by the people of Gaza in this illuminating Al Jazeera. But what impact did the Great March of Return have on the outside world ? Did it draw global attention to the suffering of the people of Gaza? Or was it grossly misrepresented in the media? And what impact did the March have on the people of Gaza themselves? The UN reported that over 270 Palestinians were killed and 36,143 injured (over 7,000 with live ammunition), with hundreds of amputations and tens of thousands of traumatised participants and family members. Can it really be considered a success? More recently the International Criminal Court announced it will be investigating Israel for potential war crimes, including crimes committed against Palestinians participating in the Great March of Return. Is this a source of hope for Palestinians in Gaza searching for justice? Join us for this very special DeepDive with one of today's essential voices, please share widely!

Jeżeli pracujecie, to oczywiście pracujecie najczęściej w zespole.
Gaza has a storied history of resistance, culture, and complexities. The besieged Gaza Strip and the fate of it's resilient population are critical to the greater demand for Palestinian freedom and justice. To unpack how life in Gaza came to be, how it's people survive and thrive in 2020 under a brutal blockade, and what might lay ahead for Gazans, author and activist, Miko Peled, has invited two spectacular Gazan writers and activists to provide their truth telling and expert analysis. This webinar was held on July 28, 2020 via Zoom. Panel Biographies: Wafaa Ali Aludaini is a Gaza-based Palestinian journalist, manager of The Althorayya Institution for Media, youth group organizer, founder of the Palestiian Eve Network, and an activist for Palestine. Ahmed Abu Artema is a Gaza-based Palestinian writer and peace activist, author of “Organized Chaos”, and organizer of The Great March of Return. In today's episode, Rahila and I speak about chapter 7 ("Arian, Joaquim and Artema") of my book - "The Man, the Moon and the Casquette". *** Artema has been raised in the same orphanage as Joaquim and she is currently working at Rada's restaurant. One day Artema is caught red-handed while she was trying to steal from the owner. Nonetheless, the story goes way beyond the surface, as we learn the reason why the woman attempted theft. Rada's approach towards the situation is way different than what some regular person would adopt. *** Before addressing today's question to my guest, I read a short excerpt from the chapter, so that you can get immersed into the story and learn the circumstances. You can contact Rahila Khan via her LinkedIn profile - https://www.linkedin.com/in/rahila-khan-873900143/ - and we would love to hear from you. So feel free to leave us a voice message (if you listen via Anchor app) or send us an e-mail at impactbychoice@gmail.com. If you enjoy this episode and the show in general, you will make us very happy once you sign up to this podcast, leave us a review on iTunes and spread the word, so that we can grow! IT’S A GUNDAM!!!!!!!1!!1!!!?! And other giant robots of our youth. Also, St. Vincent’s performance art. Most importantly, we hear from the legend himself: Austin Lucas. Austin and Von discuss Austin’s punk roots, how Austin’s transformed his life in the last couple of years, record label skullduggery, and of course working with the legendary Steve Albini who has produced albums by basically everyone you’ve ever heard of (including Nirvana and the Pixies and that’s just off the top of Rachel’s head.) Patreon was dumb this week. Here’s how we feel about. (But also keep paying us please.) That leads us into net neutrality, btdubs -- but it’s not Rachel talking about politics this time. Rachel did talk about the Newport Folk Festival and she and Von take on some sacred cows. Also, bizarre Florida man (and New York man) stories as well as your favorite holiday: Rachel’s birthday! Music in this episode: Daniel Bachman - “Song For the Setting Sun III” (Three Lobed) Patrik Antonsen - “Fishbowl” (Mr. Futility) Reina del Cid - “Queen Hazel” (Rerun City) Dawn And Hawkes - “Promised Land” (The Other Side) Dave Sheinen - “Talking To Myself” (First Thing Tomorrow) Foresteater - “Unbutton” (Single) (Single) Coyle Girelli - “Where’s My Girl?” (Single) The Wirelight - “Brace For Impact” (Single) The Sparklers - “My Ghosts Sing” (All The Prettiest Girls Go Straight to Hell) Nate Smith - “A Girl Named America” (Single) You can learn more about Rachel’s comic, Artema here.
