Este colectivo de mujeres de la costa yucateca trabaja desde hace 15 años en la restauración de estos ecosistemas cruciales en México, y esa labor no solo les ha permitido construir comunidad, sino que incluso ha cambiado los roles de género en sus familias. Su tarea es al mismo tiempo precaria y heroica. Con las manos y con herramientas improvisadas y perfeccionadas por ellas a lo largo de años, hacen renacer cuerpos de aguas y canales. He has become known as the father of the new Yucatán cuisine, where his work has transformed the culinary landscape and enriched the culinary movements that have put Mexico at the top of the global food scene. Esta es una experiencia que nos compartió un joven de Valladolid, Yucatán, quien relata el terror que vivió en su niñez. Durante una noche de octubre, mientras su madre realizaba sus quehaceres cotidianos, lo que parecía ser un regreso inocente se transformó en una pesadilla cuando descubrió a una figura inerte y perturbadora que adoptaba la apariencia de su propia madre. Mexican-American teen Jules has a hard time connecting with her cousins on a visit to the Yucatán, but when some mischievous Mayan spirits called Aluxes trap them all in an underground cenote (natural spring) they must work together to escape. Spirits of the Cenote was written by Miriam Arce, who grew up in Mérida, Mexico where the story is set. It was directed by Brian Tanner. The cast included Rachel Smith as Jules, Xianny Magoffin as Mariana, Bryan Barba Salazar as Eduardo, and Victoria Castaneda as both Daniela and Abuela Lulú. The sound team for this adventure was led by Cayson Renshaw and Trent Reimschussel, with engineering by Brandon Lewis and Joshua Foutz, and dialogue editing, sound design, music editing, and mixing by Hannah Evans and Luke Gunnerson.
