Matt Ryan with Frank Reich, Michael Pittman, and Jonathan Taylor will be significantly better than Ryan Tannehill with Derrick Henry and Traylon Burks! Matt Ryan contract allows Colts to move aggressively to add a wide receiver, tackle, yet another defensive lineman - or sign Quenton Nelson and Yannick Ngakoue to extensions. Indiana Athletics may have filled its basketball staff with too many generals and not enough lieutenants when they brought in Mike Woodson, Dane Fife, and Thad Matta. Clarity is required from leaders, and that needs to extend to Scott Dolson and the university's president. Pacers fans have lost their minds as they ride opposing players - and they aren't clever about it either, which is my biggest gripe. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support

Today's Best of Features: The moment has finally arrived as Colts GM Chris Ballard sits down to chat with Dan for a full hour! Dan starts things off by asking Chris about the situation with Carson Wentz and how committed the Colts are to Wentz as the quarterback of the future. Dan also asks Chris what their goals are for the offseason and why playmakers are an important part of their planning. Also, Chris talks on Quenton Nelson and if the team is comfortable paying him big money on a contract extension. Plus, Dan and Frank revisit the final two weeks of the regular season for the Colts. Later, Chris talks on the spending habits of the Colts and why he feels the frugal narrative is untrue. Plus, Chris responds to Dan calling him a survivor rather than a winner or a loser. Chris also explains how he values relationships within the organization and what that means to the Colts and the players in the locker room. Additionally, Dan asks Chris if he feels the team is tough enough, both mentally and physically, to be successful. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Chris Ballard laid out a giant buffet of Colts news and wisdom over the last two days, so we chew on whether Carson Wentz will be back and if Quenton Nelson is worth the price of an extension. Ballard and Dan Dakich also said something profound about life, which are worth sharing. Indiana has its chance tonight! Its first three-game winning streak since 2019 would likely come with its first NCAA Tourney invite since 2016! How can they stop the ageless Geo Baker and Ron Harper Jr? They need Good X, some threes from Good Kopp, and some foul-free defense from Good Trayce! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support

(00:43-23:42) – Dan begins Tuesday's show with confusion with how to start because of Indiana's overtime loss to Ohio State last night. Dan calls the game the worst coached final minute he's ever seen at IU. Plus, Dan ponders what Mike Woodson and the assistant coaching staff at Indiana were doing last night. Later, Dan looks at the game summary from the final minute of regulation. (26:48-46:56) – We head to the phone lines as callers express their frustrations with the recent stretch of IU basketball in Mike Woodson's first year as head coach. (49:29-56:08) – It is more phone calls expressing their frustration with Indiana basketball and last night's loss to Ohio State to end the first hour of the show. (1:01:16-1:17:50) – The original bracketologist himself Joe Lunardi of ESPN joins the show to explain why he still has IU in the tournament, albeit in the Last Four In, and what the Hoosiers need to do to still get into the Big Dance. Joe also shares which teams Indiana fans should be rooting against to increase its tournament hopes. Plus, a look at Purdue's path to a 1 seed and why Gonzaga wins are more relevant in conference than they have ever been. (1:22:08-1:47:50) – Dan brings us back from break interacting with the YouTube Chat and discussing IU's loss to Ohio State further. Plus, Dan evaluates the statement made by Juwan Howard in response to his actions in the handshake line. Later, the practicality of a hand shake is discussed. (1:50:55-1:57:42) – The second hour closes with more on the handshake line and the latest from the Colts rumor mill (including Quenton Nelson). Plus, Dan names himself a Senior NFL Insider. (2:01:26-2:23:58)– The final hour of the show begins with more thoughts on hand shake lines and the state of Indiana basketball. (2:27:01-2:44:28) – Dan goes over more with the YouTube Chat and emailers including random hate thrown Dan's way. Plus, the USFL draft is set to start today and Dan says all timeouts under 4 minutes must be approved by Michigan head coach Juwan Howard. (2:48:07-2:57:22)– Tuesday's show concludes with Dan asking show producer Jimmy Cook for today's edition of The JCook Plays of the Day. Plus, Dan talks about the state of the country and what he wants out of any sitting president. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
If I suddenly became the general manager of the Indiana Colts, would I trade Carson Wentz and Quenton Nelson? Yes to one, no to the other! What free agents would I target? Who is my left tackle? And what about the draft - who looks sweet and ready to be a championship contributor? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support
Colts offseason primer - not personal about Carson Wentz and Quenton Nelson; it's business! Chris Ballard and Frank Reich seats still very cool. Most pressing needs other than quarterback are left tackle (Colts do not have one on the roster) and WR/TE! Indiana is still solid in ESPN's Bracketology for the NCAA Tournament, but need a win tonight, or the Hoosiers will move onto the Bubble! Butler visit DePaul and Pacers play in Milwaukee tonight! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support
Nelson cannot be paid 10% of the Colts cap and allow them to contend for a championship. Beginning March 16, NFL teams can trade. Nelson could fetch a nice bounty, so Chris Ballard should do that! Mike Woodson has reinstated the five suspended players, and they will be on the floor at Michigan State. Woodson mentioned the need for players to adhere to curfew, which you might have inferred is the reason the players were suspended. Connecting those dots is what IU wants you to do. Indiana Pacers made a minor deal with the Suns at the deadline - Torrey Craig for Jalen Smith. Smith will be a free agent at season's end, so that is more cap money for Kevin Pritchard to spend on upgrades! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support
Colts beat writer Stephen Holder (The Athletic) joined me at the Senior Bowl to share how he thinks the Colts will try their hardest to upgrade the QB position this offseason, how different the defense will be with the departure of Matt Eberflus (and what kind of guy the Bears are getting in him), positions of need the Colts should address in the draft (there aren't many outside of QB), and whether Quenton Nelson will receive a contract extension before September
Quenton Nelson is so popular, some Colts fans would rather lose than see him traded. Defensive coordinator search appears to have seven finalists. New Bears head coach may have talked some smack back to Colts at media availability. Chuck Crabb retires and IU Football may be about to lose its prize recruit! Pacers win behind Isaiah Jackson's excellence, and my dream about Goga Bitadze shows my priorities are totally out of whack! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support
Chris Ballard has gone down this road before with a trade - just from the other side of the deal. Nelson for a pick just outside the top 10 could be a coup for the Colts. Indiana University Basketball fans will miss Chuck Crabb - the PA voice for 45 years. Indiana Pacers president Kevin Pritchard has 10 days until the trade deadline to squeeze as much value as possible out of his young veterans. Notre Dame hosts Duke tonight in a game with potential ramifications on IU's NCAA Tournament resume'. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support
Nelson might be the best guard in NFL history, but if he gets 10% of the salary cap, that's cash that cannot be paid to a weapon! We will know Indiana is back when fans don't sweat games like tonight's clash in Bloomington with Penn State! Pacers host Charlotte tonight, and while I never hope they lose - I'm starting to embrace the upside. Butler tonight at Hinkle! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support

(24:05-36:30) – Legendary voice of the Indiana Hoosiers in Don Fischer makes his weekly stop on the Dan Dakich Show to give his opinion on how hard it is for the IU basketball coach to deal with success, the phenomenal performance that Hunter Dickinson had against the Hoosiers yesterday, and how the team is struggling to get off to fast starts. (36:30-44:53) – Dan closes out the first hour of today's show by reacting to the public's comments that the special teams struggles for the Packers is on the General Manager and not the special teams coach and how he felt. (1:11:16-1:19:36) – As we do every Monday at 1:30pm on the Dan Dakich Show, we recap Dan vs Fan, explains how Jimmy Goroppolo just finds ways to win whereas Carson Wentz has been inconsistent, and looks at how the Rams went out and got dudes that have experience that are helping the team win. (1:19:36-1:31:49) – As we head towards the final hour of today's show, Dan gives his take on the IU/Michigan game from yesterday and takes a couple of calls from the listeners in regards to the Colts cap space and the last time IU beat Michigan. (35:49-45:34) – Dan talks more on Indiana and Purdue ahead of their matchup on Thursday night and if IU will finally end the drought against the Boilermakers. (45:35-1:15:54) – Our pal Jason Benetti makes his weekly appearance with chaos ensuing early and Dan and Jason ponder what musicians could sell out any arena around the world. Also, Dan and Jason discuss the tastiness of a Maple Bacon Shake. Plus, we discuss some of the strange officiating calls over the weekend in the NFL Playoffs and how some announcers miss things. (1:15:55-1:19:21) – In a shorter segment, Dan ponders an out of bounds play run by the Pacers and the local tv broadcast flipping to Tar Heels Insiders with 12.4 seconds to go in the game. (1:19:22-1:28:26) – Dan ends the second hour of the show by sharing a story about former Colts running back Trent Richardson's time with the team. (1:28:27-1:53:51) – Outkick360's Jonathan Hutton joins the program to tell us all we need to know ahead of the Divisional Round matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Cincinnati Bengals. Jonathan also talks on how the Titans adapted their game plans without Derrick Henry for a large portion of the season and how things will change with Henry's expected return this Sunday. (1:53:52-2:07:10) – We're back from break as Dan shares two bets that he really likes today in college basketball. Plus, Dan wonders why somebody would still want to own a sports franchise if they were universally hated by the fan base. (2:07:11-2:16:35) – Tuesday's show closes with Dan asking show producer Jimmy Cook for today's edition of the JCook Plays of the Day. Quenton Nelson was limited in practice and is questionable for tomorrow's game. The Jets are straight terrible, and a deep look inside the numbers tells you why. Recorded: September 7, 2021 | Ever since his rookie season Jeffery Simmons has been eager to get on the pod. So the boys decided to give the youngin a chance and he rose to the occasion. Jeff starts things off by telling the boys a little bit more about his upbringing in Mississippi, and how his mom inspires and motivates him to be the best player he can be. We also learn that Jeff was known to be a little bit of a cry baby back in the day. Next we find out why the former 5-star recruit chose Mississippi State over a school like Alabama. He says no money was involved but Taylor and Will are still a little skeptical. Prior to the NFL draft Jeff was a projected to be a potential top 5 pick, but tore his ACL a couple of months before the combine. He takes us through the mental side of the recovery process and how he was able succeed almost immediately when he returned. Then we go even deeper. The boys discuss who the most handsome man on the Tennessee Titans is and where they rank. We learn that Jeffery thinks Will is ugly but also that Jeff took the same route as Will when it comes to his teeth. As the pod winds down we hear about where Jeff ranks the boy Quenton Nelson on his list of top interior lineman in the NFL. According to the tape Jeff got the best of Q this past season but the respect is high between them. To wrap things up the boys create lists of their favorite things about the transition from summer to fall. It's up to you guys to decide who has the best list.
