This Sunday's Inspirational Message is: Christian by Name or Christian by Nature! Here are three key takeaways from this expository sermon based on John 3:1-6 and other passages: 1. A Christian Is a Follower of Christ: Being a Christian means following Jesus, not just believing in Him intellectually, but walking in obedience to His voice every day. Jesus said His sheep know His voice and follow Him. The question is—are you hearing His voice and following Him, or are you drifting into the comfort of cultural Christianity? 2. A Christian Is Not Defined By Good Works or Tradition: Salvation is by grace through faith, not by anything we can earn or achieve. Good works don't save us; they are the evidence of a heart transformed by God's grace. If you've been trying to earn God's love through your actions or relying on tradition to define your faith, it's time to rest in the finished work of Christ. 3. A Christian Is Born Again, Not Just Born Into Religion: Being born into a Christian family or attending church doesn't make someone a Christian. Jesus said that unless we are born again, we cannot see the Kingdom of God. This spiritual rebirth is the true mark of a Christian. * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! If you enjoyed this episode and want to help support this ministry, please share it with others and post about it on social media. “Scripture quotations taken from the Holy Bible: New American Standard Bible. 1995. Eric Alexander with Six Arrows Consulting is back to talk about collaboration in banking. This will be, likely, a two-part series on tearing down those infernal silos we have in banking. Long time listeners will know that the "silo-ing" in banking is one of my biggest pet peeves and Eric's approach to team building, collaboration, and culture from within the financial area of the bank (not often associated with such terms!!!) is why I really value his input. You maaaaaay also notice a little different intro on this episode! Eric is another musical banker and he had previously recorded his arrangement of the old hymn "Fairest Lord Jesus". So, in the interest of collaborating with fellow musical bankers, I thought I would share his work. Finally, in the episode, Eric issues a challenge to you...first, you have to listen for it, but email your responses to me at byron@barretbanking.org and let's see what happens when we ask those question! Be sure to follow Eric on LinkedIn and check out his site at https://sixarrowsconsulting.com/ And many thanks to our sponsor, ICBA Securities: https://www.icba.org/icba-securities

Fairest LORD Jesus #Nightlight #RTTBROS Corrie ten Boom For one year, she found herself stuck in a refrain of three words. “No,” “Yes,” and “Corrie,” was all Cornelia Ten Boom could say after suffering a stroke. For two months she lay in a coma, until she slowly resurfaced, aware but paralyzed. Her third word, “Corrie,” was the name of one of her daughters who would go on to be known as a heroine during World War II and the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Corrie and her family hid Jews within the walls of their home and became ringleaders in the underground movement to protect the Jewish people. It was work for which her family would be thrown into prison, and later, concentration camps. It was a mission her father and sister would ultimately die for. But 20 years before all of this, long before the German invasion, Corrie's sister, Nollie, was to be married. In her memoir, The Hiding Place, Corrie writes about the radiance her mother shone that day as Cornelia was helped into the pew by her daughters. Corrie wrote she could imagine no one present would have guessed the gracious and smiling woman in the front pew could neither walk nor speak. The Ten Boom daughters chose to close the wedding service with their mother's favorite hymn, Fairest Lord Jesus. As Corrie stood in the pew to sing, she heard an astonishing sound from behind her. “Behind me in the pew,” Corrie recounted, “Mama's voice was singing too. Word after word, verse after verse, she joined in, Mama who could not speak four words, singing the beautiful words without a stammer. Her voice which had been so high and clear was hoarse and cracked, but to me it was the voice of an angel.” The same Jesus whose first miracle took place at a wedding in Cana was carrying out another wedding miracle in a Netherlands' church nearly 2,000 years later. Four weeks later, asleep with a smile on her face, Cornelia Ten Boom went home to Jesus. After the miracle at the wedding, Corrie shared the family had hoped, in the words of Fairest Lord Jesus, they were witnessing the recovery of her mother. “But the words she had sung she was not able to say, nor did she ever sing again. It had been an isolated moment, a gift to us from God, His own very special wedding present.” The same God who wrote Cornelia Ten Boom's story has written ours also. He created us to know Him and ourselves better as we sing of His goodness. Time and again, as we sing His praise, we are reminded of the miracles He has done from eternity past to our present-day lives. Without a stammer, we find our voice and we use it to proclaim the name of a God who is always good and always near. We can sing, along with Cornelia Ten Boom and a congregation of stunned, teary-eyed witnesses, “Fairest Lord Jesus, ruler of all nature O thou of God and man the Son Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor Thou, my soul's glory, joy, and crown Our Podcast, Blog and YouTube Links https://linktr.ee/rttbros Be sure to Like, Share, Follow and subscribe it helps get the word out.

Psalm 27:13-14 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! In this episode, I will share the story of the inspiration for Scripture Songs Volume Two. Though I wrote a song to the verse above, I will also share the story of how I saw the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living while recording "Fairest Lord Jesus." Jesus shines brighter….Today was a great day!!! So thankful for the positive report of grace and respect at Annual Conference yesterday, and the worship and Word that followed. Folks, Christ is coming! May he find us hospitable, and with faith in Him, no matter the cost. A special word on the end of service hymn. “Fairest Lord Jesus” still slaps! Fairest Lord Jesus Closing music from the November 20, 2022 Worship Service Groveport UMC, Groveport Ohio Jonathan Mann, Pastor
This Sunday's Inspirational Message is "Working Out One's Salvation!" You may have heard the adage . . . There is no such thing as standing still in one's Christian life. One is either moving forward or one is regressing - that is, moving backwards! I once read that too many Christians operate like parked cars. The only way they move is if they are pushed. Others might keep their car washed and polished, but they fail to give proper attention to the engine that supplies the power. What is my point? My point is this: A saved person is not to be sitting around doing nothing and letting the chips fall where they may. A saved person is to get up and go to work. * * * * * * Once again, thanks for joining us in our time of worshiping the Lord through His Word! If you enjoyed this episode and you'd like to help support this ministry, please share it with others and post about it on social media. At the conclusion of this service at Brainerd Baptist Church a time of special recognition was given to Dr. McIntyre who had served the past six months as Interim Pastor. Special recognition was also given to Doug Miller and in appreciation of their ministry they were presented with a painting of the Sea of Galilee. This service was graced with the wonderful hymns of the faith "All Hail the Power of Jesus Name," "Fairest Lord Jesus" and "I Will Sing of My Redeemer." The Bell Choir also performed two special pieces. The children's devotional time with Brother McIntyre centered around a story of a young man who robbed a bank but was apprehended and sentenced to 20 year in prison. He had actually robbed himself of 20 years of his life. Brother McIntyre encouraged the children to not rob themselves of joy, of good friends, of helping other and giving to the Lord. For the message Dr. McIntyre spoke of the endings and beginnings in life. Some good and some bad yet all part of our lives. As Christians we need to forget those things that are behind and look ahead to those things that are before us. The service concluded with a rousing singing of "Amazing Grace."
How do you share your story when you grew up in the faith? Hear the testimony of JD, MD, a missions doctor who served in Afghanistan, and the moments when faith got real. The sudden death of his mother was a pivotal part in helping JD see the love of God in new ways. And this testing and strengthening of faith would help him get through another pivotal moment, when he was captured by the Taliban. Would he renounce his faith? Or would God show up again in powerful ways? Long a staple in Lutheran hymnody, our featured hymn this week, “Beautiful Savior,” has a lot to say about our understanding of Jesus. Accompanying Scripture:Isaiah 9: 6-7
We took a trip out west to Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, the Grand Canyon and the Red Stone country of Sedona. It was a trip with our church seniors, and was not without problems. Coming home after a week many of us contracted COVID 19. This was the first time first time we recorded our podcast on video. This week's song, “Fairest Lord Jesus” is a beautiful song with a lot of history.

Written in 1677, This hymn came from Roman Catholic Jesuits in Germany and originally had six verses. Who translated it into English? That, too, is largely a mystery. How appropriate that no human author draws attention from the great theme of this song. The resources used for the podcast include, but not limited to; “How Great Thou Art” written by Robert J. Morgan and Hymnary.org.
The feast of Epiphany (literally “appearance,” or “manifestation”) commemorates the visit of the wise men to the infant Jesus, and more broadly the revelation of Christ as “the true light” (John 1:9) and “a light for revelation to the gentiles” (Luke 2:32). Light is a consistent theme in traditional celebrations of Epiphany, and you'll find that this morning's service follows suit. The Scripture reading from Isaiah 60 declares that our light has come, and that nations will gather around to see it. The psalms remind us that “Light to the upright shall arise, though he in darkness be” (Alleluia! How Blest The Man—Psalm 112), and encourage us to turn our eyes “to eternal light” (I Will Lift My Voice—Psalm 101). We confess that Jesus is the “Light of the anxious heart” and the "Light of light, light's living spring," who shines brighter than “all the twinkling starry host” (Light Of The Anxious Heart; O Splendor Of God's Glory Bright; Fairest Lord Jesus). The King Shall Come describes both Jesus' first and second comings as days when “light triumphant breaks.” The service concludes with Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise, which ascribes praise to the “Great Father of Light.” There's always a bit of uncertainty as we head into a new year: let's look to the Savior who “dispels with glorious splendor the darkness everywhere.” —Henry C. Haffner Key Words: Nazareth, Fulfilled, Galilee, Dream, Prophets, Joseph, Child Keystone Verse: And he went and lived in a city called Nazareth, that what was spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled, that He would be called a Nazarene.” (Matthew 2:23) Matthew 2:19-23 But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,20 saying, “Rise, take the Child and His mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child's life are dead.” 21 And he rose and took the Child and His mother and went to the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream he withdrew to the district of Galilee.23 And he went and lived in a city called Nazareth, so that what was spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled, that He would be called a Nazarene.
