This is the man who quits his secure job to pursue his dreams, who drops out of college to travel the world, who learns how to meet and date beautiful women, who goes through the pain of sculpting his body, and who truly challenges himself to live up to his potential in every area of life. Which kind of man are you? 2. Commit to Your Craft. Never Dabble While there are only two types of men in this world, for a brief period of time, many of those men will fall into a third category, if only for a brief moment. This man is known as the dabbler. This is the man who was sitting on the sidelines, and instead decides to stand up and put one foot into the arena. But whenever the competition edges closer to him and he sees the faces of his adversaries and smells the blood on the sand, he backs down, afraid to commit to his new way of life. This is the type of man who starts a business but never builds it, who begins a novel but never finishes it, who invests in coaching but never takes action, and who listens to all of the dating programs but never gets his ass to a venue to ask a woman out. Don’t be that man. If you want something, then commit. Don’t waffle on the sidelines, unable to make a decision. You either say this is it! This is my f*cking time to be who I want to be or you back down gracefully. There is no in between. 3. Invest in Yourself First So many men who start down their paths to greatness hit a sinister trap called a plateau. They have been striving and striving for so long whether it is in their business or their relationships, but all of the sudden, they realize that they cannot progress anymore. Many men think it must be something is wrong with the vehicle that they are in so they abandon the relationship, start a new company, or quit the training program they were using. But what the true achievers realize whenever they are faced with these periods of stagnation is that all outward growth is a direct result of inward investment. If your workout program isn’t working (and it is accredited and proven), odds are that you are really the one who is not working. If your business is not growing, then chances are good that you not growing. If your relationships are failing, then the likely culprit is staring right back at you in the mirror. And the only way that you can overcome challenges and times like this is to invest in yourself. To achieve your outward goals, you must become the strong, grounded, powerful man on the inside first. Whether you need to start reading more books, listening to podcasts, investing in seminars, or hiring a coach, do whatever you believe is necessary to elevate your growth and start achieving on a level that you never thought possible. 4. Start Your Days with Positive Habits Almost everyone in the fitness and self-help world follows or prescribes some form of morning routine. And while many of these experts convolute the power of this habit by recommending an excessive number of practices or specific ways that you have to do things, the truth of the matter is much simpler. Every morning when you wake up, your goal should be to focus your mind and your heart on all of the good in your life. Think about how grateful you are for the people and the opportunities that you have in your life. Write a thank you note to a colleague. Tell your wife or girlfriend that you love her. Because once you have done something that puts you into this state of being, the rest of the day will flow naturally. When you are grateful for your health, you don’t take it for granted. When you are grateful for a spouse you don’t start the morning by arguing. When you are thankful for all of the opportunities in your life, you are unlikely to waste them and more likely to chase the day down with a fire and intensity that is rare is most modern men. 5. Be Willing to Suffer for Your Goals Here is a simple truth that most ‘gurus’ will not tell you. Success sucks. Because there is no way to achieve success without some level of suffering. No matter what you want, you are goig to have to go through some pain and some heart ache to achieve it. Whether you want a chiseled body, a full bank account, a loving relationship, or a deep spiritual connection, you will have to go through some pain to get it. And at the end of the day, you need to remember that behind every great deeds are thousands of hours of painful deeds that go unnoticed. However, if you are willing to face the pain, the rewards on the other side are worth it.

All of Success is About Conquering Yourself Most people assume that success is all about the mechanics. Before you even start to think about what words to write on your blog, how to approach that lead, or how to improve your product, you need to remember that success starts on the inside. Personal Identity is Crucial to All Peak Performance I am sure that all of you are familiar with Tony Robbins, the (in)famous life and personal development coach who has become a legend in the industry. Tony has an interesting tactic for helping people overcome their addiction to cigarettes. Instead of telling them to stand in the mirror and recite “I am a non smoker” every morning or telling them to burn their packet of Marlboro’s, instead, he has them change their identity. How so? He has them take up an activity or hobby that is completely incongruent with their identity as a smoker like cross country skiing, marathon running, or yoga. This works because the former smokers now see themselves differently. They see an athlete, a champion, a warrior, and not someone addicted to a disgusting habit. What Tony helps them do is to create a new belief system and personal identity. And while this principle applies to addiction, it also applies to peak performance. If you have developed an identity and personal belief that you are a high performer, that you are someone who shows up and does what needs to be done, then you are going to perform on a high level. However, if you consider yourself to be average, if your identity is that of a mediocre man, then your results will continue to be average. You need to develop an unshakable identity as a high achiever and peak performer before you can expect to achieve highly or perform at your peak. 3.Ask Yourself Why Not Me? Have you ever had a dream, a passion, a longing for something, but you thought to yourself, “That’s not for me, I will never achieve that.” Have you ever looked at another man with envy thinking, “There is no way that I will ever be that good, not me.”? If so, then you need to wake up and realize that the question you need to start asking yourself is “Why Not ME?” If you have a goal, if you have a dream, if you have a vision, then wake up and fight for it. Why not you? Why shouldn’t you achieve all of your wildest hopes and dreams? Why shouldn’t you become the best man that you can possibly be? Why shouldn’t you have a life that makes you wake up every morning and think “Wow what did I do to deserve this?” 4. Go With the Flow of Change One of the biggest mistakes that you can make in any endeavor is to stick to rigidly to the old axioms and ways of thinking. As Bob Dylan says, “The times they are a changing” and if you want to succeed at the game of life then you need to be able to change and adapt with the times. This is true in every area of your life from your health and business down to your relationships and spirituality. For example, if you do not change and adapt your exercise regimen to your body as you age, you are going to injure yourself or hit a plateau. If you are not adaptable in your business, you will become like Kodak and follow your “Old Ways” straight into obsolescence. Or if you are in a relationship and you are not able to evolve and adapt to your partner’s growth and maturation, you will quickly find yourself in a miserable relationship or all by yourself. As Bruce Lee said “Be like water”, be willing to change and adapt to the world around you. 5. Greatness Takes Sacrifice No one has ever achieved greatness without sacrifice. No one has ever joined the halls of the masters without blood, sweat, and tears. If you want to be remembered, realize that it will take sacrifice. You will lose friends, girlfriends, and maybe even family. You will lose sleep, leisure, and years of “having fun”. But in the end, if you are committed to the right thing, it will be worth it.

Embrace the Drudgery Conventional wisdom states that “If you do something you love, you will never work a day in your life”. If you want to succeed at anything in life, you are going to have to work and let me tell you, there will be times that, no matter how much you love what you do, the work will feel like endless drudgery. Get Clear on the Massive Action You Need to Take The first step to success in any endeavor is gaining clarity on what you want to achieve. The second step is gaining clarity on the actions you must take in order to manifest that dream and bring it into reality. Knowing what you want is not enough, you must have a very clear blueprint for the specific actions you are going to take in order to achieve your end game. Do you want to be financially independent? Great! Now, what specific actions are you willing to take in order to achieve that goal? Will you work 10-12 hours a day for the next five years? Will you devote all of your free time to your side hustle? Will you break off friendships that are dragging you down and keeping you mediocre? What are you going to do to make it happen? Do you want to be the healthiest man possible? Great! Now, what are you going to do to bring that goal to fruition? Will you give up drinking, smoking, and drugs? Will you commit to training 5 times a week? Will you cut out sugar, gluten, and processed foods? What are you going to do to make it happen? You see, it’s great to set goals, but most people forget that every worthwhile goal requires massive action. And before you set out to achieve a goal, you need to have a very clear picture of what it is that you are willing to sacrifice and what actions you are willing to take in order to achieve your dreams. 3. Giving is Living While this might sound cliche and overplayed, the secret to living truly is giving. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun to live for yourself. It’s fun to focus on your own happiness. It’s fun to do your own thing and give a single finger salute to the world. But how long will it fulfill you? When you stumble home drunk for the fourth night this week, a random girl from the bar on your arm, and unlock the door to your penthouse apartment, you’re having fun. But after a while, you will find that the endless cycle of living for yourself and your needs becomes tiring, and the very things that once brought you immense joy and happiness now leave you with a profound emptiness and a voice in your head asking “Is this it?” Life isn’t meant to be lived for yourself. It’s meant to be a shared journey. And if you are struggling to find fulfillment in your current life, then I want to challenge you to refocus your intentions and desires on giving back. It doesn’t have to be a huge gesture either. Commit to giving away $5 a day in a creative way. Do one random act of kindness a week. Volunteer at a soup kitchen a few hours each month. Do something that gets you out of your bubble and allows you to give back. Because not only will you be contributing to the greater good, but you will also be reminding yourself of just how good your life really is. It will help you remember what is truly important and it will reframe your current struggles and put your problems into perspective. And what’s more? It will give you a profound sense of inner peace and fulfillment. The secret to living truly is giving. So the only question I want to ask you is this… What are you going to give? 4. You Must Know Your Values and Beliefs In life, you will often be presented with difficult decisions. You will find yourself at a crossroads where both paths seem appealing and you are unable to determine exactly which route to take. During these times of decision, it is imperative that you have a deep understanding of what it is you truly value and what brings you the most fulfillment and joy. To use a classic example, imagine that you are offered a promotion at work. The promotion will more than double your salary but it will also take you away from your family and children and will require you to travel 3 weeks out of the month. What should you do? The answer depends on your values. Do you value financial independence and leaving a legacy? If so, then the best course of action might be to take the promotion, be more intentional about the time that you get to spend with your family, and use the influx of cash to create a better quality of life (and guarantee a better future) for the people you love. Do you value your relationships and your influence over your children’s development? If so, then forget the promotion and spend your time pouring into your children and shaping their future. There are no right or wrong answers with these types of decisions. But every big decision is predicated on your unique value system and beliefs. So you’d better be damn sure that you take some time to define exactly what those are before you go making life altering moves. 5. Happiness Isn’t the Purpose of Life Many people believe that happiness is the purpose of life. But, as we alluded to in a previous point, this is far from the truth. If happiness is all that we are here for, then 99% of the population should say “Fuck it!” and become a heroin addict. Afterall, it’ll make you happy right? I mean it will make you really happy for every waking hour of your day. But I think you and I both know that there is more to life than just feeling good. While I don’t pretend to know what the meaning of life is, I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is not manic levels of happiness. Life is about the journey, it’s about contribution, and it’s about living in accordance with your own unique values and beliefs. And even though I cannot tell you what you should do in your own specific situation, I can tell you that you must have a much higher purpose and calling than happiness. Because if happiness is your end game, then you should expect to live the majority of your life in an unfulfilling and unproductive way.

When you make this mental shift, you will be more loving, kind, and generous, and the funny thing is, the universe will reciprocate this and you will likely achieve those goals that you had set because you are no longer focused on them. 4. Stop Trying to Live Up to The Expectations of the World The world pushes all of these unrealistic expectations and standards on you, trying to convince you to conform to its standards and desires. However, to live the life of your dreams, you must shun the expectations of the world and instead create your own expectations for yourself and your future. You decide who you want to be, what you want to accomplish, and most important how you want to show up, not the world. Once you truly internalize this, the freedom and joy that you will feel is almost unparalleled. 5. Keep People First In business, relationships, and pretty much every other area of life, make sure that you are keeping people first. In your business, focus on your clients, not your revenue. In your relationships, focus on adding value and not taking value. In your health, focus on how your improved performance and energy will affect those around you and not on how it will boost your own ego. Always keep people first and you will never lose.

Think Less Do More So many people who are involved in the world of personal development make the critical mistake of absorbing too much information without taking the requisite action that makes that information valuable. If you are not where you want to be in your life despite the books, online courses, and seminars, then stop what you are doing right now and go take some freaking action. Don’t read another book about fitness, go to the damn gym and lift some weights. Don’t watch videos on pickup, go talk to the next pretty girl you see. Quit watching Shark Tank and go take the first step to starting your own business. The simple truth is that success is hard. It takes time, patience, failure, and iteration. You will never get it right on the first go and the more time you spend thinking and analyzing your goals and vision, the less time you’ll spend actually moving the needle forward and making progress. So commit to taking action. Take the first step today and realize that you can learn what you need to learn along the way. Go pick up a barbell and do some deadlifts. To accomplish great things, you must learn to take action despite your emotions. You must learn to overcome the way you feel and focus on what you value. Your mission, your goals, and your life are more important than how you feel in the moment. And the more you can learn to act in alignment with your values instead of your feelings, the better and more successful your life will be. 3. You Need Someone Who Has Achieved What You Want If you want to achieve the highest levels of success, you need a coach or mentor. There’s no way around it. No way great has ever succeeded without someone smarter and more talented then them guiding their path and advising them on the best course of action. If you are overweight despite going to the gym and eating well, hire a coach who can show you where you are taking improper action so you can achieve your dream body. If your life is going downhill quickly despite your best efforts, hire a coach who can help you to achieve your goals and who can point out your blindspots and weaknesses and help you overcome them. When you have objective outside eyes on your life from people who have “been there, done that”, you won’t have to wonder if you’re doing the right things. Success Starts with Your Mindset and Your Routines The key to success starts in your mind and is then translated into your routines. To succeed, you must develop rock-solid routines to ensure that you can achieve at the highest level. This means creating a morning routine, exercising regularly, spending time around people who are smarter then you are, and educating yourself on a daily basis. Look, business plans are great, but Murphy’s Law dictates that the best laid plans go straight to hell in a hand basket as soon as they are met by opposition. The quickest way to succeed at business is to stop guessing and start taking action. It’s not until you are actually in the trenches that you will be able to see how your ideas are really performing and how the market actually responds to your business plan. So get your plan together as quickly as possible, and then just freaking do it! 4. Use Selling to Validate Your Business One of the best ways to validate a new business or product idea is to ask for a sale. Don’t pitch your idea to friends and family and ask for their opinion. Pitch to people, and if they compliment your idea, ask them to whip out their credit card and make a purchase. This will cut through the crap and make people put their money where their mouth is. If you get a couple of sales right of the bat, then you know that you are on the right path. If not, then go back to the drawing board. 5. Look for Indicators in Your Business Just like a doctor looks for health indicators within your body that could be indicative of something more serious, you need to constantly be on the lookout for indicators in your business that could show a potential problem. For example, you could notice that your prospecting is going incredibly well and you have more and more inbound leads every day. However, you are still not making many sales. Well, as you look for indicators throughout your sales funnel, you might notice that your first sales call is when you start to lose business. This is a good indicator of something that you need to change to take your business to the next level.

That you were paid to just be you! It is entirely possible, and more than that, entirely necessary. Life is too damn short to live a life that is incongruent with who you are. If you are doing things that you love with people you love, you will wake up every day with a smile on your face and a spring in your step. You will have a deep sense of fulfillment and joy in each moment and will be able to show up in life more present and on purpose than you ever thought possible. It is not an easy road, and it will require you to make changes, but it will be worth it. 2. Get out of the Negative Narratives in Your Life It is so easy to get caught up in negative narratives in your day to day life that you may not even realize how much they are affecting you. You are in negative work environments, negative relationships, patterns of self talk, or ways of being that your health and well being is affected. If you are able to remove the negative narratives from your life and surround yourself with positivity that is congruent with you and your mission, your life will improve, your health will improve, and your sense of peace and joy will shoot through the roof. 3. Get Real with Yourself Success in life requires that you are honest with yourself, you cannot live a life of joy and peace if you are constantly lying to yourself. You tell yourself that it is not that bad, that you will make a change, that things are worse for others without ever realizing that by lying to yourself you are blocking yourself from achieving the things you desire. You have to be brutally honest with yourself and call it like it is in life before you can truly live a congruent and passionate life. 4. Take it Easy on Yourself Especially as a man, it is easy to beat yourself up. Society puts so much pressure on you to achieve, to succeed, to figure out who the hell you are (not to mention to figure out how the hell to handle women) that it’s easy to see yourself as a failure if you are not a millionaire, casanova by age 21! Take a deep breath and take it easy on yourself, you are doing better than you think you are. You don’t have a responsibility to conform to society’s expectations and the sooner you can realize this, the happier and more fulfilled you will be.

But if you truly love that person, it’s also worth it. So embrace the drudgery, realize that you will have to work and you will have to work hard. But remember that if you are working on something you love, the drudgery will be worth every second of pain. 2. Get Clear on the Massive Action You Need to Take The first step to success in any endeavor is gaining clarity on what you want to achieve. The second step is gaining clarity on the actions you must take in order to manifest that dream and bring it into reality. Knowing what you want is not enough, you must have a very clear blueprint for the specific actions you are going to take in order to achieve your end game. Do you want to be financially independent? Great! Now, what specific actions are you willing to take in order to achieve that goal? Will you work 10-12 hours a day for the next five years? Will you devote all of your free time to your side hustle? Will you break off friendships that are dragging you down and keeping you mediocre? What are you going to do to make it happen? Do you want to be the healthiest man possible? Great! Now, what are you going to do to bring that goal to fruition? Will you give up drinking, smoking, and drugs? Will you commit to training 5 times a week? Will you cut out sugar, gluten, and processed foods? What are you going to do to make it happen? You see, it’s great to set goals, but most people forget that every worthwhile goal requires massive action. And before you set out to achieve a goal, you need to have a very clear picture of what it is that you are willing to sacrifice and what actions you are willing to take in order to achieve your dreams. 3. Giving is Living While this might sound cliche and overplayed, the secret to living truly is giving. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun to live for yourself. It’s fun to focus on your own happiness. It’s fun to do your own thing and give a single finger salute to the world. But how long will it fulfill you? When you stumble home drunk for the fourth night this week, a random girl from the bar on your arm, and unlock the door to your penthouse apartment, you’re having fun. But after a while, you will find that the endless cycle of living for yourself and your needs becomes tiring, and the very things that once brought you immense joy and happiness now leave you with a profound emptiness and a voice in your head asking “Is this it?” Life isn’t meant to be lived for yourself. It’s meant to be a shared journey. And if you are struggling to find fulfillment in your current life, then I want to challenge you to refocus your intentions and desires on giving back. It doesn’t have to be a huge gesture either. Commit to giving away $5 a day in a creative way. Do one random act of kindness a week. Volunteer at a soup kitchen a few hours each month. Do something that gets you out of your bubble and allows you to give back. Because not only will you be contributing to the greater good, but you will also be reminding yourself of just how good your life really is. It will help you remember what is truly important and it will reframe your current struggles and put your problems into perspective. And what’s more? It will give you a profound sense of inner peace and fulfillment. The secret to living truly is giving. So the only question I want to ask you is this… What are you going to give? 4. You Must Know Your Values and Beliefs In life, you will often be presented with difficult decisions. You will find yourself at a crossroads where both paths seem appealing and you are unable to determine exactly which route to take. During these times of decision, it is imperative that you have a deep understanding of what it is you truly value and what brings you the most fulfillment and joy. To use a classic example, imagine that you are offered a promotion at work. The promotion will more than double your salary but it will also take you away from your family and children and will require you to travel 3 weeks out of the month. What should you do? The answer depends on your values. Do you value financial independence and leaving a legacy? If so, then the best course of action might be to take the promotion, be more intentional about the time that you get to spend with your family, and use the influx of cash to create a better quality of life (and guarantee a better future) for the people you love. Do you value your relationships and your influence over your children’s development? If so, then forget the promotion and spend your time pouring into your children and shaping their future. There are no right or wrong answers with these types of decisions. But every big decision is predicated on your unique value system and beliefs. So you’d better be damn sure that you take some time to define exactly what those are before you go making life altering moves. 5. Happiness Isn’t the Purpose of Life Many people believe that happiness is the purpose of life. But, as we alluded to in a previous point, this is far from the truth. If happiness is all that we are here for, then 99% of the population should say “Fuck it!” and become a heroin addict. Afterall, it’ll make you happy right? I mean it will make you really happy for every waking hour of your day. But I think you and I both know that there is more to life than just feeling good. While I don’t pretend to know what the meaning of life is, I can tell you with 100% certainty that it is not manic levels of happiness. Life is about the journey, it’s about contribution, and it’s about living in accordance with your own unique values and beliefs. And even though I cannot tell you what you should do in your own specific situation, I can tell you that you must have a much higher purpose and calling than happiness. Because if happiness is your end game, then you should expect to live the majority of your life in an unfulfilling and unproductive way.

So ditch the negative friends and the unambitious buddies from college. It’s time to level up your social circle and level up your life. 4. Work Hard and Have Fun The rules of success are simple. A far wiser approach is to use your current career as a training ground for your future endeavors. Seek to make the most impact and value in your current position rather than seeking to create a new one. And most importantly, learn all you can. Working in a corporate job can teach you how to effectively manage your time as you try to build your own gig on the side. It can teach you how to effectively and maturely deal with all levels of foolishness that you will inevitably encounter within a 9-5. And it will teach you how to grind it out, how to keep going even when things are not going your way. 4. Start small After listening to inspiring stories about tri-athletes and multimillionaire businessmen, it is often tempting to only look at the end result without contemplating the steps taken to achieve it. The key to seeing results in your own life it to create a snowball effect of “impossible” actions. Want to lose 30 lbs. and get shredded? Focus on the first 5 lbs. Want to become a millionaire blogger? Focus on making your first $1,000. Start small and let the actions compound for bigger and bigger results. Take it one step at a time and before you know it, you will be miles from where you started. 5. Just keep going The simplest, yet most challenging piece of advice. Just keep going. As Winston Churchill so famously put it “If you are going through hell, keep going.” Do not stop, even when everything is caving around you, do not give others the satisfaction of seeing you quit. Keep going no matter what.
