Over the past twelve years, Ajit Nawalkha has founded or co-founded several companies that focus on human transformation, including Mindvalley, Evercoach, and the Dharma Coaching Institute. Through a combination of live and online keynotes, seminars, and conferences, Ajit Nawalkha teaches, coaches, or facilitates transformations for more than a million people via emails, videos, and podcasts. Born and raised in India, Ajit grew up in a household with twenty-three other family members. This early experience of sharing space with a large family made him realize that he would need to forge his own path to see different results in life. Although societal expectations leaned towards a career in engineering, he knew it wasn't the path for him. Instead, his curiosity led him to the realm of personal development and human potential. Today, he resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife, son, and daughter. While his passion lies in building companies and coaching individuals, he finds daily nourishment in cooking breakfast for his family. Ajit is always on the lookout for more effective and efficient ways to live life, prioritizing joy and freedom. Above all, he values the quiet moments spent with his family amid a busy and chaotic life. In this episode, Ajit Nawalkha shares his story about being overwhelmingly successful by age 31 and being unhappy, how he shifted out of it, why he values ‘self-coaching' so much, and tools that can help you make important decisions in life and business. We continue our series on self coaching, which I started with Ajit Nawalkha, co-founder of Mindvalley and founder of Evercoach and the Dharma Coaching Institute, and author of Live Big The Entrepreneurs Guide To Passion, Practicality & Purpose. This is part 3 where I bring another expert in the field to discuss the issue, and I have with me one of the most prolific business and personal coaches I know. Dan Miller, author of 48 Days To The Work & Life You Love. Find him at 48days.com. Dan has been coaching people, and coaching coaches for as long as I can remember. Which is a long time. He works closely with select companies to catalyze positive change, cultivating workplaces and leaders that prioritize wealth, fulfillment, and making a difference. What Travis and Ajit discussed: Achieve clarity on what you truly want. Ajit realized he wanted to be healthy and energetic as he aged so he could keep up with his future grandkids. Once he got clear on his desire, he was able to make the lifestyle changes needed. Friendships require vulnerability and consistency over time. Ajit believes in developing deep, meaningful friendships built on trust rather than having many shallow connections. This requires being open and spending quality time together. Entrepreneurship fosters personal growth. Ajit was drawn to business because whether you succeed or fail, you will transform in some way. It pushes you to improve, unlike a regular job. Listen to your heart's desires, not society's. Don't let others dictate what you should want. Connect to your own inner wisdom about the life you wish to create. Take bold action when you realize your truth. After Ajit's "come to Jesus" moment on New Year's Eve, he made many major changes in alignment with his soul's purpose. Ajit Nawalkha is a bestselling author, speaker, former CEO at Mindvalley, and the Co-Founder & current CEO of Evercoach. He has a very long list of accolades but I really wanted to interview him because he is hands down the most abundant and successful person I know, not just in business, but ALL areas of life. Ajit grew up in India living in a house with an extended family of 23 others where space and money were scarce and today he travels all over the world and I've had the pleasure of meeting his proud parents when he flew them into Austin, TX. I've worked with him for a few years now on filming multiple video courses, tons of YouTube videos, live events… and of course, podcast interviews. In this podcast we talk about how to become a better listener and interviewer, how to rethink your limiting beliefs, and how to think about creating authentic content you can build a business around. And we also talk about how to be a better man, rise to our highest selves, and break down the differences between working with therapists and coaches.. This is definitely one you won't want to miss. The people around you should be on your team, or else they will start to demotivate you. Jerome welcomes Ajit Nawalkha, the Co-Founder & CEO at Evercoach by Mindvalley. He discusses the biological responses associated with selling a business, how to identify when it is time to sell, and the importance of getting mentorship and support from family and friends to stay motivated in achieving life goals. Ajit shares his experience selling his first company, a shipping and printing business in India, 12-10 years ago. In this episode, Ajit highlights that having a team of family and friends on your side is vital for success in any venture and that exits can be an emotional yet rewarding experience. This conversation digs into the different aspects of entrepreneurship and how a founder should think about building a successful product. He also emphasizes the need to understand the customer's needs and create something that will provide them value. Finally, he shares that fulfillment is a more significant driver than money, understanding our shadow desires is essential to achieve true happiness, and that human beings have a fundamental need for certainty and power. Tune into this episode to learn more about your superpowers! [00:00 - 12:10] Ajit Nawalkha's Story of Successful Exits Exits are premised on two common factors: being out of love with the company or building it to sell The biological response to an exit is not as big as people think Building a product that the customer loves is easier than building one you love Focus on solving the problem, not the product Measure opportunity by potential upside and new relationships, not just cash [12:11 - 20:51] Living a Meaningful, Purposeful Life Generosity should be based on how you want to live your life Making money is easier than people think, but living a meaningful life is difficult Growing up in India with limited resources motivated Ajit to create a better life Ajit's goal was never to become rich but rather to be comfortable and have fun [20:52 - 34:37] The Power of Teamwork Working with people can be challenging, and they don't always understand or follow through on tasks Robots cannot do everything, and humans are necessary for success To reach Ajit's, he needed to build a team of people who were excited about the same goal Fulfillment is more significant than financial freedom Human desires are more on connection, love, and contribution [34:38 - 36:57] Closing Segment Money does follow anything that is done with passion and purpose, and meaning Quotes: "It's all about the problem. What is the problem in the marketplace? What's the problem that you can identify as early as possible? Start creating a solution or start solving that problem as early as possible." - Ajit Nawalkha "What is difficult to do is to live the life in the greatest alignment of yourself, which is why a lot of rich people report being unhappy and lonely." - Ajit Nawalkha "If you want to live the most fulfilled life with your family, you need your family team to show up for you. Your wife needs to be on your team. Your kids need to be on your team. Your parents need to be on your team." - Ajit Nawalkha Connect with Ajit! So yes, what you focus on expands big time." In today's solo-cast, join me as I rip open the curtain and give you a behind-the-scenes look at the hectic life of an author doing her pre-launch book tour. From 117+ podcasts and media appearances, including live television, to bouncing around the whole country, flight after flight, to feeling ‘mom guilt' because my son was sad to see me leave again, and all things in between, here's what my life has actually looked like for the past couple months! To all the mommas, entrepreneurs, authors and go-getters: may this episode light your fire.
Welcome back, loves, to the Brave Table! Today, I'm interviewed by Vasavi Kumar on her podcast, Say it Out Loud! This is a replay of that episode and in it, we dive deep. I share about my 2nd ‘dark night of the soul' which came once I began motherhood in the forms of postpartum depression and rage. We break open the interesting duality of how rage can coexist with slivers of joy. I break open how I felt frustrated and angry after giving birth due to the limitations on my physical movement. I had put a lot of my value in being able to contribute and give to others, so being unable to do so after giving birth caused a lot of rage to swell up. Join Vasavi and I as we navigate embracing the joy and chaos of motherhood! In today's episode, we talk about: Postpartum Depression, Rage, and Anxiety How Giving Your Rage a Voice Can Help You Heal Impact of Grief and Loss on Resilience Impact of Stress and Anxiety on New Mothers Four Parts to Your Bounce Factor How to Use Joy to Deal with Sucky Moments Different Stages of Grief and How to Cope Benefits of Letting Out a Good, Hard Laugh How to Bounce Back from Life's Setbacks The Dangers of Emotional Perfectionism The Relationship Between Rage and Healing The Power of Allowing Yourself to Feel Your Rage The Power of Being Brave Enough to Suck at Something New If you liked this episode, you'll also want to check this out… Vasavi's work at https://www.vasavikumar.com/ and follow her on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/mynameisvasavi/ Listen to her podcast, Say It Out Loud with Vasavi https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/say-it-out-loud-with-vasavi/id1366384837 Listen to my episode with Vasavi where we talk about flowing into your feminine energy, and copying with shame, guilt and secrecy: Apple | Spotify Hear my husband, Ajit Nawalkha, speak on being a father: Apple | Spotify You'll love this episode about braving uncertain situations and how to do the hard things: Apple | Spotify Thanks for listening! Hey team Brave Table! This week's episode is a super fun one! I sat down with my boo, my baby daddy, my husband, and - also - serial entrepreneur, author, and coach, Ajit Nawalkha. This is part 1 of a 2-part episode! People often ask how we keep our relationship fun, juicy and fresh since we're together so often as business partners, life partners, and now our most important roles of mom and dad. We'll touch on a few of our tricks for clearly defining the different roles we play and placing and maintaining boundaries around them. We also touch on how to show up for our partners when moving through enormous change - in our case, this was the birthing of a new business, a new baby, and moving our family from LA to Austin. I'm sure pretty much ALL of you have experienced some huge shifts over the past couple of years, so we'll share with you some of the tools and rituals we had to revisit to help us get through this challenging season. This is part one of a two-part conversation so make sure to check out the follow-up episode where we talk more about parenthood and the things no one prepared us for. Some of the juicy nuggets you'll experience in this episode: - How we mentally and emotionally navigated our toughest year to date - Using your different communication styles as a catalyst for strengthening your relationship - Reflecting on your needs vs the needs of your partner and how to honor and respect both - The practice of operating from a place of non-reaction and the importance of taking time for solitude and reflection - Self-awareness and radical self-acceptance as keys to growth I hope you SO loved this conversation as much as I did, and I would really appreciate it if you could leave a review. Hi loves! This is the second part of my conversation with my husband Ajit on moving into a new chapter of our lives as parents to Arie and Aiyla and how our children are our greatest teachers. We talk about the challenges of parenting during a move, a pandemic, and validating children's feelings. With the birth of Aiyla and this being our second rodeo in the parenthood game, I ask Ajit how having a daughter has heightened his warrior-protector mode and if there's one message he'd want our children to know - what would it be? We also dive into the rise of the matriarchy, open up about our fears and concerns about raising children in today's world, our hopes for the future of humanity, and how we all get to choose the world we want to create for our kids. Plus, find out how we keep the SPICE in our lives outside of parenthood and keep date nights creative and inspiring! Some of the juicy nuggets you'll experience in this episode: - Seeing your kids as collaborators for your self-development and personal growth - Discovering new things about yourself through your interactions with your kids - Modelling behavior for your children through your routines and actions and creating life habits that involve your children - Prioritizing your health as a means to maintain your vitality and be present for your children throughout your life - The importance of recalibrating with time without kids and reserving time for intrigue and surprise - We wrap up with a fun and light igniting round where Ajit talks about his suckiest human moment and what he's reading - his answer might surprise you! 09:57 Ajit's Humble Beginnings: When a lot of people share a space, it's not really a space and there's not really an abundance. That's when I decided I don't want to live the same life ever again. 12:06 My father's limited support put a timer on me to figure out my track: Trying to make money at 17 gave me a sense of clarity that I can figure things out. I'm a good person at figuring things out. I'm a good person in binding connections and relationships. 18:00 Being the Mindvalley CEO: While running the company, I had forgotten everything else but the title I have in the company. I realized how alone and lonely I was. 24:22 A Stroke of Luck: Old programming doesn't really go away. It's an awareness. And that self-awareness recognizes that there are unknowns in us—there's what we need to be successful but there's also an element of 'luck'. 26:38 We have equal capability to release negative thinking; it is independent to each of us, our completely different experience. It's a talent, but we also have to recognize that it's not maybe as true that the other person doesn't have it. 30:06 Spectrum of negative thoughts is widely more than the spectrum of positive thoughts and we're naturally wired for it because it's a protection mechanism. But the difference happens when you feel it AND THEN you are aware enough to move forward. 32:06 Information to Transformation: Take notes and understand. Take what you understood and turn it into a tool. Go out and do it. Refine it to fit your model of reality. Do it over and over. 37:38 Being Present: Everybody is a function of the stories of their past. Your past governs a lot of your behavior at this moment. That way, it tends to start creating your future. The only point of control, of reality, of impact that you truly have to change your past and your future at the same time, is NOW. You need to own the NOW. 42:56 Organizing your Mind: Being more conscious of the thoughts that you choose. Every circumstance creates a multiplicity of thinking. Choose a more empowered way of thinking. We all can use some kindness; come back to our humanity. 47:01 Bioengineering and Connectedness: Integrating our biology and habits like meditation, supplementation, the way we eat, and movement. And pursue purpose not as a place to get to but a place to live from. Use your intuition. 50:17 Master Coaching with Ajit: Learn coaching techniques as Ajit breaks down specific areas of life to explain why those areas work or not. 51:33 Ajit's Best Medicine: LOVE. Love for humanity, friends, family, colleagues, for life.
