In this episode, I share the importance of understanding your “why” in both business and life. I open up about my own journey—how I had to overcome challenges and how my purpose to support my family, especially while my father was battling addiction, became the driving force that kept me going. That clarity of purpose gave me resilience and consistency, and it's the same thing I believe will push you forward too. I'll challenge you to define your own “why” and use it as fuel to push through difficulties and stay consistent in chasing your goals.Free 1-1 Business Coaching Session Signup: https://calendly.com/dripjobs/breakthroughSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/2v0D0SNSBofqJJE6zApEE1DripJobs Demo: https://calendly.com/dripjobsteam/dripjobsdemoGusto: https://gusto.com/i/tanner269OpenPhone: https://openph.one/referral/8Kc17aqFacebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/173750747824373/?ref=shareFollow me on Instagram: http://Instagram.com/officialtannermullen
Many of us have parts of our lives where we want to grow and progress, things we want to do that we haven't done before, and yet, we hesitate and don't move forward because it can be so uncomfortable to do something new, to step into change. I call this the certainty of misery. We're not happy with where we are, but at least it's comfortable, we're certain how our life will be from day to day. If we can courage up and instead learn to step into the misery of uncertainty, we can create in our lives something that matches, and maybe even exceeds, what we dream of. Thanks for listening! In this inspiring episode, Jennifer explores how we limit ourselves by believing we're fundamentally flawed or evil, when the truth is we're simply playing small and denying our divine inheritance. Drawing from A Course in Miracles Lesson 166 ("I am entrusted with the gifts of God"), she reveals how God's trust in us is limitless even when our trust in God is minimal, and how we must unite our will with God's will to receive and recognize the gifts that are already ours. She emphasizes that we're not victims but dreamers of the dream, and that taking responsibility for our creative power - rather than hiding from it - transforms us from tragic wanderers into servants in our Father's house who hold the high watch for all humanity. Wondering if working on clarifying your brand positioning and refining your messaging creates revenue? You bet it does! If you have been thinking that working on this is a nice-to-have marketing or coaching exercise when you have more money to invest or clients... think again. Especially in today's confusing and complex market. Today we're talking about the powerful, rock-solid return on your investment of money, time and talents in elevating your positioning in the market and enhancing how you frame up, describe, pitch and price what you do with my guest Katie Anderson. She was on the show back in episode 35 over 3 years when she first became my client. When started our work together, Katie was already successful... as a Shingo Award winning author of Leading to Learn and Learning to Lead and sought-after keynote speaker. Still, despite her opportunities, she knew how she was writing and talking about what she did was holding her back from her next stage of success and impact. Can you relate to the struggle of knowing that you have so much value you create for your clients but not have the words to describe it and how it affects the results you get from your networking, the quality of offers you put in front of clients, your pricing and so much more? Can you also relate to the struggling of investing time and money in fixing this when it either seems like something you shouldn't be struggling with or soft? This is exactly what Katie, and I get into onto today's show. When you tune in, you'll hear first-hand from Katie on the powerful ROI she has gotten from not just investing in elevating her foundational brand messaging but also her approach to landing clients, her online presence and more! We chat about Katie's journey from hourly contractor to sought-after thought leader and premium brand and the lessons learned along with the way. We get into: The mindset and strategic investments the propel growth How to take advantage of the opportunities you're presented with – such as Katie's husband's job opportunity in Japan led to what much of the success Katie enjoys now Why my partnership set up approach beats contracting and sales and how it has empowered Katie to dramatically increase her impact and income The difference between endorsements and benefit-driven testimonials – and how working on Katie's has turned me into a lean evangelist The legit struggle that Katie, like many lean practitioners, had with articulating the value of what she did The powerful impact and ROI Katie got when she got clear on who she helped and more importantly the problem she solved Why you need this episode: If you struggle conveying the value of what you do in your networking, website, offers, proposals, and pricing and it's holding you back from the success and impact you want as a consultant or coach, in general or specifically in today's confusing times and want to know if it's worth your money and time to fix it, this is the episode for you. And if you're an operational excellence, lean, continuous learning practitioner – you're going to love this episode and the bonus one that Katie and I recorded that follows this one on that is specific to your messaging and positioning challenges. Where to dive in: (00:00) Elevating Brand Positioning for Revenue(06:50) Shifting Business Focus for Growth(20:15) Creating Value Through Client Collaboration(26:12) Clarifying Value and Target Audience(35:22) Transformative Value and Mindset Shift(48:46) Reigniting Purposeful Consulting Relationships(01:02:06) Empowering Consultants for Purposeful Growth(01:06:34) Improving Leader Understanding of Lean Next steps: If you're struggling like Katie was with articulating the value of what you do, here's where to start to overcome it. Pay attention to the people you're drawn to help and the problems you're motivated to solve and ask yourself some questions about why these matters to you. What do you see is possible for them that they don't see yet for themselves? What difference will that change make? And if you need someone to help you do this, book a discovery call with me here. The real value, the real ROI of doing positioning and messaging work isn't about marketing. It's about mindset and getting out of your own head and getting into the clients you want to serve. That is where the real source of clarity and confidence comes from. Head on over to my website at www.betsyjordyn.com where you'll find lots of free resources to help you take the next step. I have a free audio training on “Playing Small to Playing True”, several downloads, including a messaging guide and my discovery meeting scripts, that Katie uses to get the results she enjoys today. And of course you can learn more about my highly personalized strategic brand partnership programs. And if you're a lean practitioner – tune into the bonus episode that Katie and I recorded on the why it' so hard to get leaders to get the value of what you do and ideas on how to fix it. In this episode, Cindy Esliger talks about how our natural instinct to feel safe can turn into a trap by silencing our bold ideas and keeping us in a role that no longer challenges us. She differentiates between blowing up our lives and doing small low stakes change experiments to reconnect to intuition. Stability is inviting but it can lead to too much safety. Cindy offers a way to push ourselves past that instinct for predictable comfort into discovering new possibilities. Safety feels good until it doesn't. It feels like we're in control until one day it starts to feel like numbness and being boxed in. But how do we know when our safety has actually become complacency? Cindy has three clues to guide our assessment: 1) We constantly ask for validation or permission before making a move, 2) We feel safe but also stuck, and 3) We find ourselves downsizing our goals to make other people comfortable. Stability has its place but financial and emotional security should be a foundation, not a ceiling. Redefining safety is key. Safety doesn't mean avoiding discomfort, it means building trust in our own ability to respond to discomfort. Cindy encourages us to be willing to get a little uncomfortable in order to experiment and explore in our careers. She points out that momentum matters more than motivation, since motivation can be fickle. We need to also question our need for approval. Following Cindy's guidance opens a path to flexibility and real growth potential. It reframes discomfort not as a danger, but simply uncertainty. Uncertainty can be normalized and anticipated. That's how we grow. This message will hit different if you've ever been called “too much” or felt afraid to be seen.In this episode, we go deep into why healing doesn't always mean you're growing—and how your inner child might be the one calling the shots.
You might think it's about staying humble… but really? It's about staying small. Tall poppy syndrome is alive and well — and if you're side-eyeing someone for still celebrating a win from 3 months ago… can I give you a little bit of tough love? That thought? That ugh, she's a bit much? That's the internalised conditioning doing its sneaky work. And if we're not consciously challenging it — we're reinforcing it. Here's what actually matters: ✨ We want more women owning their success. ✨ We need to stop punishing visibility. ✨ We get to be part of a new narrative — one where it's safe to be seen, safe to be brilliant, and safe to celebrate your own damn magic. Because when you lift other women up, you're lifting your own capacity to receive, too. This goes way deeper than tall poppy syndrome — it's about worth, identity, and expanding what we believe is possible. Let's change the story together. Most people never take the leap — not because they can't, but because they're waiting to “feel ready.” In this episode, we dismantle the most dangerous lie holding you back: the belief that someday you'll feel more confident, more qualified, or more prepared than you do right now. We break down the real reason people stall on life-changing decisions — whether it's starting a business, buying their first rental property, hiring a coach, investing in themselves, or leaving a job that no longer serves them. You'll hear personal stories, uncomfortable truths, and hard-earned lessons about why action always beats perfection. If you've ever said “I'm not ready yet” or felt paralyzed by fear, this is the wake-up call you didn't know you needed. The clock's ticking. Success doesn't wait. Neither should you. RESOURCES

Today we're talking about “girl math”, but not in the way TikTok wants you to. My guest is Meg Wheeler, CPA, financial educator, founder of the Equitable Money Project, and all-around champion for financial equity. We unpack the viral "girl math" trend and why it may seem harmless but actually reinforces some pretty dangerous stereotypes about women and money. Meg and I both agree: women are not bad at math—and this kind of messaging does more harm than good. But we don't stop there. We also dig into what it really takes to build wealth when you don't come from generational wealth, how financial knowledge—not money—is often the most valuable asset, and why staying politically engaged is a financial strategy. Episode 365: The Power TrapSummary:Afraid that stepping into your full power will cost too much? That people might judge you, or success might ask more than you can give? In this episode, we're uncovering the final trap that keeps you playing small—and walking through how to break free so you can show up boldly in your calling, without apology.Takeaways:The Power Trap shows up when we fear what our calling will require.Success can trigger fear responses just like failure can. When you name your fear, you strip it of its power.Power looks different for everyone—define what it looks like for you.People-pleasing keeps us playing small.Playing small is not humility—it's self-protection.God works in layers—stepping into your power happens one layer at a time.Abraham's story shows the danger of pleasing people over purpose.Courage says yes, even when fear says run.You don't have to get it perfect—just keep stepping forward.Quotes:“If you don't step into your power, others are going to miss out on what you are called to bring to the table.”“Playing small isn't holy—it's just keeping other people in the dark.”“Your obedience is not for their applause. Your obedience is for the one who called you.”“Courage doesn't mean it's loud, but it is consistent.”Courageous Action:Get Honest with God – Journal through Psalm 139:23–24 and ask Father to show you the real fear holding you back.Define Your Version of Power – What does power look like for you in this season? SummaryIn this episode, Heather Bunch discusses the 'Feeling Trap' that many Christian women entrepreneurs face, particularly the feelings of unworthiness and imposter syndrome. She emphasizes the importance of understanding that faith is not a feeling and provides actionable steps to break free from these limiting beliefs. Through the story of Moses, she illustrates how feelings can hinder our purpose and encourages listeners to take courageous action despite their emotions. The episode concludes with a call to practice the opposite of negative feelings and to live fearlessly free.TakeawaysYou don't have to feel it to live like it's true.Imposter syndrome creates a gap between who God says we are and how we show up.Knowing God's Word is not enough; we must act on it.Faith is not a feeling; it's a choice to trust God.Obedience comes before feelings; take action regardless of emotions.Moses felt unworthy but still obeyed God's call.We must let faith lead our actions, not our feelings.Courageous action is essential for overcoming fear and self-doubt.Practice the opposite of what your feelings tell you.Living fearlessly free requires consistent action and trust in God.Sound Bites"Faith isn't a feeling.""Obey before you feel it.""Live fearlessly free."Chapters00:00 Introduction to the Feeling Trap05:04 Understanding Imposter Syndrome09:34 Trap Response 1: Understand Faith Isn't a Feeling12:29 Trap Response 2: You gotta obey before you feel it15:06 Three Trap Responses to Overcome Feelings16:33 Trap Response 3: Let Faith Lead Your Feet19:24 Recap How You Can Respond to the Feeling Trap20:34 Courageous Action Steps22:55 Conclusion and Next Steps
Significant Women with Carol McLeod | Carol Mcleod Ministries
In this episode of Significant Women, I have the great joy of welcoming Mary Marantz, a gifted author, speaker, and host of The Mary Marantz Show. Mary's story is both tender and powerful—a testimony of healing, courage, and transformation. Together, we talk about what it means to break free from generational pain, let go of perfectionism, and begin the long, faithful journey of becoming who God created us to be.Mary shares rich insight from her new book Underestimated, a message for every woman who has questioned her voice, her strength, or her ability to make a meaningful impact. Our conversation explores the process of healing from the inside out, recognizing fear for the liar it is, and learning to trust yourself as a vessel for the work God has entrusted to you. This episode will meet you in your hidden places and help you start again—with grace, with faith, and with a deeper sense of purpose. In this episode, we discuss:Healing from decades of limiting beliefs and deep-rooted fearThe myth that “more” will lead to our downfallGenerational patterns and where the chain breaksThe link between perfectionism and fearHow self-sabotage keeps us in cycles of playing smallWhy consistency is more powerful than excellence aloneReparenting yourself as an adult and learning to feel safeUnderstanding the Parable of the Talents as a call to trustHow to stop delaying obedience while waiting for “permission”Embracing your God-given gifts and using them with courageScripture Themes:Matthew 25:14–30 — The Parable of the TalentsThe calling to be faithful with what you've been givenThe importance of small, daily obedience in spiritual growthTrusting that if God gave it to you, He intends for you to use itMary's Books Mentioned:Dirt — A memoir about returning home and making peace with your pastSlow Growth Equals Strong Roots — A guide for those tired of hustle, who long to grow at a soul-deep levelUnderestimated — A book for every woman who feels overlooked, underqualified, or unsure of her place in God's planQuotes to Remember:“We are doing the heavy lifting of breaking generational chains. So it's okay if it takes us a little longer.”“You were never asked to be perfect. You were asked to be faithful.”“When we hide our gifts, we forfeit the good work that was prepared in advance for us.”“Fear is not creative. It's repetitive. The lies don't change. But neither does the truth.”Carol's Challenge to Listeners:Start small. Ask yourself: What one thing can I do today to become more of the woman I long to be? Maybe it's a simple decision. Maybe it's a single act of obedience. But begin there. Because your story matters, and the small things are never small when done with God.Mary's Final Prayer:Mary closes the episode with a beautiful and vulnerable prayer over every woman listening. She prays that you would grow weary of fear, stop giving weight to old lies, and begin trusting the God who planted gifts in you before the foundation of the world. She reminds us that showing up matters more than being perfect—and that hiding your voice serves no one.Where to Find Mary Marantz:Website: www.marymarantz.comInstagram: @marymarantzPodcast: The Mary Marantz ShowBooks: Available wherever books are soldListen and Subscribe:If this episode encouraged you, consider subscribing and leaving a review. Today, we’re throwing it back to Session 321 — Some Thoughts On Playing Small. This quick episode was inspired by a line from Issa Dee, the beloved character played by Issa Rae in Insecure: “How much different would your life be if you actually went after what you wanted?” It’s a question that feels especially relevant now as we head into summer. The days are longer, the sun is out, and so many of us are ready to stretch, grow, and shine a little brighter. So, what would it look like to stop shrinking and give yourself permission to take up more space, both at work and in your daily life, as well as in your relationships and dreams? I hope this episode encourages you to reflect on where you might be playing small and how you can start showing up more fully for yourself. Hey y'all—Brig here. Today I'm bringing you a topic that might hit close to home: playing small just to stay loved. Whether it's at work, in relationships, or even around family, too many of us shrink ourselves to make others feel more comfortable. I've been there. I know what it's like to silence your voice, tone yourself down, and wear outdated roles just to keep the peace. But that strategy? It's costing you more than you realize. In this episode, I'm not here to shame you—I'm here to bring awareness. To name the cages. To help you identify the "shrink scripts" you've inherited from well-meaning people who didn't know any better. I'll show you how to unkage your voice, your body, your mind, and your entire life. Because surviving isn't the same as living—and queen, it's time to live unkaged. What We'll Dive Into in This Episode: Why conditional love is often disguised as safety The emotional cost of shrinking yourself in friendships, at work, and at home The invisible work no one sees—but that's changing you daily “Shrink scripts” from family, culture, and your own past—and how to rewrite them The difference between surviving and thriving A powerful voice note exercise to reconnect with your growth Take Action – Your Uncaging Starts Now Ask yourself: Where are you still playing small to be loved? You don't need another funnel. You need a message that pierces through digital noise, trauma patterns, and self-protection mechanisms, and gets heard. In this live, I'm exposing the real reason brilliant entrepreneurs stay broke, overwhelmed, or invisible: It's not your strategy. It's not the algorithm. It's the identity you built to survive a world that punished power. We're dismantling the masks… And replacing them with high-trust messaging infrastructure that performs without performing. This isn't mindset coaching. This is identity recalibration, strategic visibility, and collapse-proof positioning for leaders who are DONE playing small.
Send me a text message and get your questions answered on the podcast! I'd love to hear from you! Stop waiting for someone to discover your genius. The painful truth many brilliant women consultants face is that mastering your craft isn't enough when nobody beyond your immediate circle knows about your expertise. You've built a solid reputation, yet somehow the biggest opportunities continue to go to others with half your experience. This visibility gap exists because many of us have been conditioned to play small. Through years of corporate training or societal expectations, we've learned that safety comes from blending in rather than standing out, and breaking through requires strategic discomfort. The modern consulting landscape rewards those who are willing to be visible. Your expertise deserves recognition, your business deserves growth, and your bank account deserves the revenue that comes from claiming your rightful space. What risk will you take this week to increase your visibility? *********Do you want to know Why Don't They See Your Genius?
