The Love, Happiness and Success Podcast With Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby
You have ten options on the table. Three of them are interesting. One of them might be the right one. And you have been staring at this list for eight months without choosing anything. Here is something I did not expect to learn after fifteen years of doing career coaching with people in exactly this place: it is almost never the options that are the problem. It is what you are doing while you wait for one of them to feel obviously right. In this episode, I sit down with Megan Rankin, a certified career counselor on my team at Growing Self who holds a master's degree in career development and a clinical therapy background. Megan spends her days with smart, capable people who are objectively successful and quietly miserable, and she joined me to talk about why the work of finding your passion almost always starts by looking backward, not forward. We get into the specific reason a 29-year-old can wake up one morning and not recognize the career they built, the question Megan asks every new client before she lets them touch their resume, and the threshold a person actually has to cross before a career change is the right move instead of a reaction to burnout. In this episode The exact question Megan asks in the first session that surfaces every career pattern a client is going to bring with them Why looking forward at your future is the wrong place to start, and the past-tense exercise that gives people clarity faster than any aptitude test How to tell the difference between a career that is genuinely wrong for you and a career you are unhappy in because of burnout, and why the answer changes everything The 10-year vision exercise Megan walks her clients through, and the specific details to include (where you live, who you live with, what is in your fridge) that make it actually useful Why people in the 28 to 32 age range hit this wall so consistently, and what is structurally happening in a life that creates it The hidden interview skill that comes from doing the inner work first, and why employers respond to it before you finish the sentence What to do when you have 10 options and cannot pick any of them, and the question that collapses the list down to two This episode is for anyone who has built a career that looks good on paper and feels wrong on a Monday morning. The kind of person who has been told they should be grateful, who has worked hard to get where they are, and who is starting to wonder out loud, for the first time, whether the path they have been walking is actually theirs. If you have ten options and cannot pick one, if you have one option and dread it, or if you are in the in-between where nothing is bad enough to leave and nothing is good enough to stay for, this conversation is for you. Then, Amy and Kat dive into Elizabeth Gilbert's (Eat, Pray, Love) fascinating "Hummingbird vs. Jackhammer" theory…are you someone who laser-focuses on one passion for life, or do you flit from interest to interest, collecting experiences along the way? What if the biggest pivot in your life was actually an invitation to step fully into your purpose? In this episode of The BraveHearted Woman Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Angela Chester, pastoral counselor, media entrepreneur, three-time best-selling author, and host of Daily Spark Radio and TV. With over two decades of helping purpose-driven women rise with confidence, clarity, and courage, Dr. Chester shares how faith, resilience, and bold decision-making can transform both personal and professional journeys.Dr. Chester opens up about her philosophy of living in harmony rather than balance, explaining how different seasons of life require different priorities, much like instruments in an orchestra that rise and fall in volume at the right time. She also reveals how her early passion for the arts, combined with her calling to pastoral counseling, shaped a career devoted to helping people discover their true purpose and step into their unique lane. The conversation takes a deeply personal turn when Dr. Chester shares her experience as a breast cancer survivor. Facing a life-changing diagnosis forced her to reevaluate her calling and ultimately led her to expand her impact through media, including radio, television, and PASSIONEER Magazine. What began as a simple prayer, asking God to expand her territory, turned into a global platform inspiring audiences in more than 70 countries.Throughout the episode, Dr. Chester offers practical wisdom for women navigating uncertainty, career pivots, or personal trials. She emphasizes the importance of listening to God's voice over self-doubt, reframing fear into faith, and recognizing that even painful seasons can become powerful testimonies that inspire others. If you've ever questioned your path, felt stuck between where you are and where you believe you're meant to be, this episode is a reminder that your story, no matter how messy or uncertain, can become the foundation for your purpose.Because sometimes the bravest step you can take is trusting that the journey ahead is exactly where you're meant to go.Timestamps:0:00 - Guest Intro3:08 - The BraveHeart Story of Dr. Angela Chester on work-life balance6:02 - How to start a career in the world of media11:28 - Practical tips for finding your passion19:51 - What is mediapreneur?23:03 - The importance of having faith and choosing to be better28:54 - Dr. Angela's #1 tip for midlife womenQuotations:“When life is in harmony, every part of your life is heard, some louder, some softer, but all still matter.” - Dr. Angela Chester“What do you want to do, regardless of what other people say you should do?” - Dr. Angela Chester“You have to be bold enough to trust that what you hear from God is truly His voice.” - Dr. Angela Chester“You may not know the road ahead, but you can still walk it by faith.” - Dr. Angela Chester“If your life was built on sand before, this time you can build it on the rock.” - Dr. Angela Chester “Sometimes the very thing you went through becomes the reason you can help someone else.” - Dr. Angela ChesterResources:

Dopamine Method: 3 Steps to Find Your Passion (Science-Backed) October 27, 2025 | Episode 5211 Host: Scott Smith Episode Description Still collecting productivity frameworks that don't actually work? Smart goals. Atomic habits. All those little tactics sitting in your notebook while you're still off track. Here's the thing. They're too tactical. You need something that's wired into how your brain actually works. Three simple steps that change how you feel about your world starting today. Not next month. Today. Scott breaks down the science-backed approach that makes motivation stick. No frameworks to memorize. Just three strategic shifts that light you up from the inside. And what he discovered about your anticipation engine might surprise you. Featured Story Ever notice how excited you got about Christmas as a kid? Scott did too. Then he became an adult. Boring. Just work. One day he said screw that. Started putting concerts on the calendar. Ski trips. Anything that got him genuinely excited. And his whole life shifted. He realized something most people miss. When you schedule experiences that fire you up, your mood changes. Your motivation increases. You can handle anything at the office when you've got something coming up this weekend. Most people lacking motivation are just lacking hope. That puts them in doubt and fear. The trick? You need to know you're growing toward something. Important Points Why looking at the past to solve present problems keeps you stuck in the same patterns you're trying to escape. The anticipation engine discovery that makes kids excited about holidays works just as powerfully for adults who remember to use it. How connecting with 5-10 truly like-minded people creates more momentum than 5,000 Facebook friends ever will. Exploring future possibilities lights up your brain differently than trying to fix your current situation. Memorable Quotes "The present doesn't stick around. The only thing that guides you is the future." "If you're not exploring and looking forward, most people look at the past. That's not going to work for you." "We were not designed to do things alone, but make no mistake, we're also not designed to do things with 10,000 people." "Two or more people actively engaged in the pursuit of a definite purpose with a positive mental attitude constitute an unbeatable force." Scott's Three-Step Approach 1. Explore future possibilities instead of past solutions. Stop asking what worked 20 years ago and start asking where your interest guides you next. 2. Fire up your anticipation engine by scheduling one experience that genuinely excites you. Concert tickets. Weekend trip. New dress. Anything that makes you eager. 3. Connect with like-minded people in smaller groups of 5-10 who actually vibe with you naturally. No forcing it. No proving how smart you are. What if something as simple as a pulled pork sandwich could remind people they aren't forgotten? In this episode of Your Biggest Breakthrough, we sit down with Stan Hays, co-founder of Operation Barbecue Relief, whose story began in the aftermath of the devastating Joplin tornado. What started with a few smokers in a parking lot has now grown into an organization that's served over 13 million meals in disaster zones and communities in need.We loved this conversation because it's not just about barbecue, it's about faith in action, taking that first step without having all the answers, and discovering your “why” through serving others. You'll hear how God used ordinary skills and a willing heart to meet extraordinary needs, and how something as simple as food can unify people, restore hope, and remind them of love.If you've ever wondered how to find your purpose, where to start serving, or whether your gifts really matter, this episode is for you. Stan's story will challenge you, inspire you, and encourage you that God can use your passion, no matter what it is, to change lives.

Having a passion project can contribute a lot to your over all well being and quality of life. In today's episode I discuss four different avenues you can explore to figure out what your passion is so grab a pen and paper and let's get into it! Follow your energy- what's something that you get fired up about, lose track of time while doing, and get 'in the zone' when you're doing it Follow your curiosity- take a look at the kinds of questions you're asking, the things your googling, the content you're consuming; if there's a common thread there that could be your passion Follow your heart- if there's something that weighs heavily on your heart or mind then it might be a calling to do something about it Follow your fulfilment- what does your authentic self want to wake up every day and spend your time doing Take some time to ask yourself the questions presented in today's episode and see what comes up for you and then explore that and most importantly enjoy it! How do you find your passion? Do you even know what your passion is? If you know what your passion is, are you doing something that taps into that internal fire that lights you up? Many of us have a skill, a talent, knowledge, experience, ability or product that we create or do without thinking about it. We have that secret something or interest that drives us and lights us up. Some of us take it to the next step and create a hobby out of that thing. Others tell us that we are "really good at that thing and could sell it or make a business out of it." Some of us take that step forward and create that business or follow that passion in our career. There are others, however, that struggle with finding that thing. They don't seem to have that bright fire for one particular skill or thing. In this episode, Adam and I are focusing on how to find our passion. We hope to answer the following questions: How can you discover your passion? What are the benefits and drawbacks of following your passion? What are you willing to sacrifice for your passion? Not everything is rose petals, rainbows and unicorns. The rose does have thorns, and there are some drawbacks of following your passion, and Adam and I will talk about those things as well.
