Hello everyone! Billy Amendola here, and my show today is one of my “Billy's Bubble” segments, featuring Marshall Chess, the son of Chess Records founder Leonard Chess. Chess, a Polish/Jewish immigrant, and his brother Phil created what many describe as “America's Greatest Blues label.” You've heard of Willie Dixon, Howlin Wolf, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, and other legendary blues musicians from The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles. They all were pioneers on the legendary label. My guest, Marshal Chess, now 81 years young, grew up in the studio and became vice-president in 1969 before going on to become president of GRT, and then creating Rolling Stones Records, and becoming executive producer of The Rolling Stones albums “Sticky Fingers” and “Exile on Main Street. Also featured on the show is Marshal's long-time collaborator, producer/drummer/engineer Keith Leblanc. The two met at SugarHill Records and have worked together since. They now have a new record, “The Chess Project,” featuring seasoned players and singers who reinterpret Chess gems from Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Memphis Slim, Little Walter, and Sonny Boy Williamson. The album is titled “New Moves.” Keith, both an acoustic drummer and a pioneer in programming and playing drum machines and electronic loops, became known with his band Tackhead, who were successful in Europe, where Keith lived for a few years. His solo record, “No Sell Out,” is one of the first sample-based releases. Keith kick-started his career at SugarHill Records and later Tommy Boy Records, two of the most successful labels in hip-hop and dance music. In the '90s, Keith worked in the studio with producer Trevor Horn in the UK, programming, and playing drums with Annie Lennox, Tina Turner, and Seal's first album, among others. Let's dive into this historical career with two pioneers in our industry and welcome Marshal & Keith to Drum Channel. Enjoy!

Hey, hi, and hello!Episode #61 of the Badass Records Podcast was a very special one, in that the one and only Elwyn M. Grimes, Jr. made a return appearance to the show, and he did so under the guise of tackling two of the most important discographies in hip-hop history, De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest.Twas no small feat, but we got after it and had a good time doing so, especially considering that -- as of March 3, 2023 -- the De La catalog is finally available via streaming services. 'Bout. Damn. Time. The list looks like this:3 Feet High and Rising (1989), DLSPeople's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm (1990), ATCQDe La Soul Is Dead (1991), DLSThe Low End Theory (1991), ATCQBuhloone Mindstate (1993), DLSMidnight Marauders (1993), ATCQStakes Is High (1996), DLSBeats, Rhymes & Life (1996), ATCQThe Love Movement (1998), ATCQArt Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump (2000), DLSA.O.I.: Bionix (2001), DLS The Grind Date (2004) DLSPlug 1 & Plug 2 Present...First Serve (2012), DLS...and the Anonymous Nobody (2016), DLSWe Got It From Here...Thank You 4 Your Service (2016), ATCQAnd you'd better believe there was a Ric Flair, "Woo!" gettin' through all that.I talked too much on this one and probably bored Elwyn to pieces, but boy did we appear to be having a good time, so many thanks to him for coming and hanging with me a second time. Catch him on Episode #3 if you missed him the first time around.Peace!copyright disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the intro/outro audio. They are samples from the best one-two punch in hip-hop history, "Dinninit"--> "Brakes," which are tracks off of Stakes (c/o A.O.I., LLC Under Exclusive License to Chrysalis Records Limited, a.k.a. not Tommy Boy Records).
March 3rd is #DeLaDay, as today, De La Soul's catalog finally lands on streaming services worldwide, after years of legal battles with Tommy Boy Records. It's such a tragedy that the group's legendary MC, Trugoy the Dove (aka Plug 2, aka Dave) passed away just before he was able to witness this celebration. It's still hard to grasp that he's gone. I have been a huge fan of De La from the start and was blessed to have seen them play live numerous times and on 3 different continents. Needless to say I've been pumping their albums non stop since Trugoy's passing and they've inspired me to make a mix of some of my favourite tunes from their amazing catalog. I wasn't able to include every one of my favourites, as there was just too many, but I'm happy with the final selection. As it's De La Day today, there was no better time to drop this mix and I hope you dig it. Let's support De La Soul and get them to the top of the streaming charts. R.I.P. Trugoy.

TRUE HOUSE STORIES W/ TOM SILVERMAN (TOMMY BOY RECORDS) # 094 - PART 2 Tom Silverman explains different parts of the disco business and what led him to creating the New Music Seminar. Along the same time he begins to work out how to run a record label while helping out the owners of Importe 12. While he is writing his columns for Dance Music Report, he learns about a hip hop dj that was playing this eclectic sound of funk and rock all mixed up in The Bronx Area. He pays a visit to meet DJ Afrika Bambatta, and the rest is history. Tom loved what he witnessed and asked Afrika if he would like to make a record from all the tracks that you are playing in your set. At that precious moment Tommy Boy Records was created. We stopped the interview early as Tom promised he would come back and speak more about his life in the music industry. When he returns he would like to have all the topics the audience would like to hear about when he returns once again for another sit down as this will be scheduled soon.

Royce Da 5'9 Featured Guest Bio:Ryan Daniel Montgomery (born 5 July 1977), better known by his stage name Royce da 5'9", is an American rapper from Detroit, Michigan. Since beginning his professional solo career in 1998, he is perhaps best known for his longtime association with Eminem. He has worked extensively with DJ Premier and Carlos "6 July" Broady and has ghostwritten for the likes of Sean Combs and Dr. Dre. Royce is one-half of the duos Bad Meets Evil alongside Eminem and PRhyme alongside DJ Premier, and one-quarter of Slaughterhouse.Royce was given his nickname after he began wearing an R pendant resembling the Rolls Royce symbol to high school. He began rapping when he was eighteen and signed his first deal three years later with Tommy Boy Records. After the label shut down, he signed a deal with Columbia and began recording the album Rock City. The album was heavily bootlegged, so Royce left the label, moved to Koch, and re-released the album as Rock City (Version 2.0) in 2002. Two years later, he released his second and most critically successful album to date, Death Is Certain, which charted with the DJ Premier-produced "Hip-Hop". The following year, he released his third album, Independent's Day, but it was met with less acclaim than either of his previous releases. After a four year hiatus of studio albums, Royce returned with his fourth album, Street Hop, in 2009. His album, Book of Ryan, was released in 2018. His recent album, The Allegory, was released in 2020.Featured Guest Contact:Website Instagram https://www.instagram.com/royceda59/?hl=en 19 KEYS:Top thought leader of the culture and leader in the health , financial Liberation , blockchain , crypto , NFT , High level mindset etc. An Oakland,ca truth speaker.. https://www.mixcloud.com/horatioofficial/horatio-preents-ibizaholic-radioshow-episode-52-special-guest-mix-oscar-g/ Save the best for last. I have the honour and privilege to have as guest star in my radioshow the LEGENDARY DJ AND PRODUCER , MR"DARK BEATS" himself, OSCAR G . If you were to get out a map and track the history of house music – with endless lines sprouting from New York, Chicago and Detroit to points all over the world – you'd have to make a big, red circle around Miami, Florida, and start drawing. Miami was never ground zero to a full-fledged subcultural movement. But it is where Oscar Gaetan, better known as Oscar G, has lived every day of his life. And that fact alone makes it a hub on the global underground. An award-winning songwriter, producer, and DJ, Oscar is one of dance music's brightest and most enduring stars. As part of seminal production teams Liberty City, Murk, and Funky Green Dogs, he boasts hits – Billboard chart-toppers as well as underground smashes – in every decade, every trend, and every market. “Some Lovin',” “Fired Up,” and “Dark Beat” are more than just tracks: They are moments, shared by clubbers worldwide. They're the kind of moments Oscar still creates at Space Miami, his hometown superclub, where he's been a resident DJ for a staggering eight years – coming full circle after a globetrotting career. Oscar and longtime friend and production partner Ralph Falcon grew up in a Miami enlivened by the fresh spirit of hip-hop. “Break dancing, graffiti and the music that went along with it: That's really what got me into DJ-ing in the first place,” he says. By the age of 12, he was already spinning at school dances. Oscar and Ralph started working together at the end of high school, blending the sounds of their youth with the beginnings of house, like Ten City and Blaze; and the darker Euro bands of the time, like Depeche Mode and New Order. “We were always big on doing our own sound, with our own feeling and vibe in every aspect of it; from the way we mixed things to the sounds we chose,” says Oscar. “I remember being obsessed with that for years, and then people started to listen.” The early years bore some of the work for which they're still best known, like often imitated, never duplicated vocals “Some Lovin',” “If You Really Love Someone,” and “Reach For Me” (Tribal). Upon their release in 1993, the pair became instant superstars. “Europe kind of grabbed us,” says Oscar, so they spent a good amount of time touring overseas, eventually visiting every major and minor outpost of the global dance scene, including Zouk Singapore, Ministry Of Sound London, and Stereo Montreal. “Fired Up!” (Twisted), their biggest hit ever, followed in 1996. It topped the Billboard Dance chart, and even cracked the Top 100, peaking at No. 80. They would go on to remix countless major pop artists, from Madonna to Cher to Donna Summer; and appear on mainstream outlets like MTV and Top Of The Pops. The boys also cut two complete Funky Green Dogs albums for major label MCA, “Star” (1999) and “Super California” (2001). But their own measures of success were still decidedly underground: “Once Junior Vasquez played our records at Sound Factory [in New York], we felt like we could retire, and at that point we were like 20,” says Oscar. In March 2000, Space opened in downtown Miami with Oscar as the Saturday night resident, just as the world was paying its annual visit for Winter Music Conference. The club – with its cavernous main room, pummeling German sound system and nitrogen blasts – was the talk of dance world, and the legend of Oscar's residency began to grow. The year 2003 was a big one. Oscar released the “Live @ Space” (Star 69) compilation, and won the Club World Award for “Best Resident DJ” (which he won again in 2007). Murk set a new Billboard Dance chart record, with five No. 1's in a single year: Four singles from their self-titled artist album on Tommy Boy Records, and “Dark Beat” (Twisted), tribal house's first real vocal anthem, which found its way from dance floors onto mainstream radio. “We came up with ‘Dark Beat' in about 15 minutes. Whenever things come that quickly, you know there's something to them,” says Oscar. “But we didn't think radio or anthem; we were thinking more like, ‘Oh man, Danny Tenaglia's gonna be all over this!'” In 2006, Oscar became one of Pacha New York's only non-NY-based monthly residents, strengthening his bond with his home-away-from-home, and its rich dance history. He released a second installment in the Space series in 2007, starting new relationships with Nervous Records in the U.S. and CR2 in the U.K. CR2 also snapped up the Murk catalog, and commissioned new remixes of the classic tracks, including Paul Woolford's takes on “If You Really Love Someone” and “Reach For Me.” And in 2008, after nearly two decades making music, Oscar released out his first solo album, “Innov8” (Nervous). Last year Oscar released a mixed CD “Beats” on Nervous Records and working with his Murk partner Ralph Falcon produced one of the undergrounds anthem of 2012 – Amame – which was released worldwide on Defected. He and Ralph also re-activated the seminal label Murk Records. Even though his passion for music creation is undeniable, it's in his DJ booth where Oscar feels most at home. “On the music side, I've felt pretty energized lately, because the changes in the industry really enable you to be a lot more experimental and take more chances,” he says. “But DJ-ing to me always comes first: I really believe in it as an art form. Having a residency like Space, with a regular crowd, it's the ultimate.”

BANG! @southernvangard #radio presents the DR. BUTCHER & CJ MOORE interview session! Normally, this would have been a Twice A Week week. You know, the usual - mix show on Tuesday, all new joints, Meeks and Doe talking trash, and then an interview session to follow on Thursday. However, the universe had something different in mind. These two legends were originally scheduled to be on the mix show this week to talk about “AGAINST ALL ODDS,” their new project with DA ODD COUPLE (ROB SWIFT & MISTA SINISTA of the X-ECUTIONERS) and keep it moving - but this thing turned into a TWO AND HALF HOUR history lesson. We let the tape roll and said forget all the new rap this week, this conversation is too important to stop. No cap, as the young folks say - this is foundation / architect / cornerstone type content, Vangardians. While we did manage to get the low down on the phenomenal production & engineering Butcher and CJ provided on the new LP with Rob & Sinista, as well as why they pulled in fresh talent like KE TURNER & RAY LUGER as features - we quickly got DEEP in that hip-hop Encyclopedia Brittanica: 1212 STUDIOS. Welcome to #NoWahala with @theycallmeTUNE x @justbawo! Tune into Episode 42, with special guest DJ Cipha Sounds! In this episode, the group discuss a variety of topics with DJ Cipha Sounds, a major force behind crossing over a few African / Caribbean / American superstars into GLOBAL mainstream pop culture. (Ex. Akon, Sean Paul, Nina Sky, The Neptunes, etc). Despite being one of the first American DJ's to break artists like Wizkid, Davido and Maleek Berry on New York radio airwaves, Cipha recently went viral and received backlash from the Nigerian community for his remarks on Wizkid's current standing in global pop culture (compared to Sean Paul/Akon in the early 2000's). His criticism for stating there currently is "no face" of "afrobeats" outside of Africa/UK didn't sit well with Nigerians. He clears up ALL misunderstandings in this new episode (with a special guest appearance from London's own, Maleek Berry!). ___________________ Cipha Sounds is an American radio and television personality of Puerto Rican descent. He is mostly known for his work as a DJ, a VJ for MTV and as a comedian. From 2003 to 2006, Sounds was a DJ for Comedy Central's Chappelle's Show. In April 2006, he became the host of MTV's urban music video program Sucker Free. Sounds has his own artist management company called Jack Move, Inc. The first artists that he managed were the R&B duo Nina Sky in 2004, with the hit single "Move Ya Body". He has worked as an A&R executive for Rawkus Records, Tommy Boy Records, and The Neptunes' record label, Star Trak Entertainment. In this episode, I explore the battle taking place bewteen Rap legeds De La Soul and the once legendary, but now notorious record label Tommy Boy.De La Souls catalog with the label has been plagued by legal issues over uncleared samples for 30 years. Their music has never have been legally available on streaming services and the catalog has moved from Tommy Boy to Warner Bros. and back again without the sampling issues being resolved. The Tommy Boy rep added sampling wasn't the primary source of their disagreement and “negotiating points are still to be finalized.” Tommy Boy Records has made a decision regarding De La Soul's digital catalog. According to a statement from the label, they have decided to postpone its release in light of the controversy surrounding the terms of their agreement with the legendary Hip Hop trio. “Because Tommy Boy has not had the opportunity to sit down together with De La Soul and finalize our negotiations — something we've wanted to do for months — we have decided to postpone the digital release of their catalog scheduled for tomorrow,” the statement reads. “We know fans are eager to hear these amazing recordings and we are hopeful for a quick resolution.” The group's first six albums — including the 1989 classic 3 Feet High and Rising — was expected to arrive on all digital platforms on Friday (March 1) at midnight. But De La Soul was incredibly vocal about the situation on their Instagram page and inadvertently sparked a Tommy Boy Boycott. As a result, TIDAL agreed not to participate in the streaming deal. In a recent interview with HipHopDX, Maseo said the boycott was completely organic. “Let me tell you what's crazy,” he explained. “We flirted with the idea of a boycott for a long time — for about a good month-and-a-half. We honestly wanted to be really clear on it being a boycott. It just sat there on our tongue. We were like, ‘What the fuck do we do!?' “We legally can't fight and can't afford to fight. We ended up refraining from that. Tom Silverman can legally do this. It's pretty much turned into a protest to us and a boycott for the fans. The boycott manifested on its own. It had been up to this point just a protest.”

Favorite Success Quote “It is better to be impetuous than too circumspect because fortune is a woman and if she is to be submissive it is necessary to beat and coerce her”~Niccolo Machiavelli Key Points 1. You Can't Rest on Your Laurels Whenever you are an artist, businessman, entrepreneur, athlete etc. it is often easy to work incredibly hard for a success, and then allow a single victory to go to your head causing you to stop striving the way you were before. If you want to be truly successful in any profession (especially if you are a performing artist) you must have an incredibly short term memory for both successes and failures. The show that went great, the business that plummeted, the deal that tripled your profit…none of that matters, all that matters is that you continue gaining momentum as you move forward and not allow success to cause complacency. 2. Just Keep Moving Forward Boldly One of the only ways to achieve massive success in life is to move forward with bold determination every single day. If you want a result, go after it with all you have, be bold, seize opportunity and be willing to lay it all on the line for one chance, one opportunity, because that may be all that you get. 3. Always be Ready Perhaps the greatest take away from the entire interview was Dan's focus on proper preparation. Life will often send opportunities your way at unexpected times, and it is up to you to seize them. However, what is more important than taking the chances life gives you is being ready, is having developed yourself into the man you need to be to seize these opportunities properly. Life waits for no man and fortune favors the prepared. 4. Create Every Day If you want success in your life, create every day. While in the interview, Dan talked specifically about music, this is applicable to all fronts of life. If you want to be healthy, workout every day. Want to be rich? Gain momentum in your business every day Want to run a top blog? Create content every day. Always be moving forward on your goals and dreams and never let yourself lose momentum

Guest O.C D.I.T,C Member - Omar Credle (born May 13, 1971), better known by his stage name, O.C., is an American rapper and member of the group D.I.T.C., who has been involved with several renowned underground hip hop groups: Crooklyn Dodgers '95, Luv NY, Perestroika. Recording career.Omar was born in Brooklyn, May 13, 1971,[1] and raised in the Bushwick section. O.C. cites legends like Kool G. Rap, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and Slick Rick as his main influences.[2] In 1991, he made his recording debut on Organized Konfusion's "Fudge Pudge",.[1] One year later he made an appearance on the remix of MC Serch's "Back to the Grill" (which also features a very young Nas) after meeting Serch on the inaugural Source tour. Following the tour, O.C. signed with Wild Pitch Records in 1994 where Serch was vice president.[2] O.C. also met Lord Finesse and Buckwild on the first Source tour, marking his introduction to the D.I.T.C crew. After the tour he connected with Buckwild and started recording a demo that would become his debut album Word...Life.[2]By 1994, he finished the album Word...Life, which included everything from his demo, along with "Time's Up," the song that would go on to be his most notable single. "Time's up" was initially a record for Pharoahe Monch from Organized Konfusion.[2] Beyond a quick outro from Prince Po, Word...Life does not have any guest appearances. This was not by design, however, as Nas was supposed to be on the album but never showed up to the studio for the recording session.[2] The album was critically acclaimed and remains beloved in hip-hop circles. In 1996, Credle appeared on the Red Hot Organization's compilation CD, America is Dying Slowly, alongside Biz Markie, Wu-Tang Clan, and Fat Joe, among many other prominent hip hop artists. The CD, meant to raise awareness of the AIDS epidemic among African American men, was heralded as "a masterpiece" by The Source magazine. In 1997, O.C. signed to Pay Day Records,[1] where he released his second album Jewelz, featuring collaborations with DJ Premier, Da Beatminerz and Freddie Foxxx. The single "Far From Yours" peaked at #81 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it his highest charting single to date. By this time, he was a part of the underground hip hop act known as Diggin' in The Crates together with Lord Finesse, Fat Joe, Showbiz & A.G., Diamond D, Buckwild and Big L. In 2000 the crew released their self-titled debut album through Tommy Boy Records on which O.C. featured on the majority of the songs. In 1998, O.C. was featured on Pete Rock's "Respect Mine" from Pete Rock's 1998 solo debut album Soul Survivor. The 2001 release of Bon Appetit was met with very mixed reviews; the negative accused O.C. of selling out with a polished, shining and toned-down sound. This was although Buckwild produced the large bulk of the album with the only help coming from Lord Finesse and Ahmed (pretty much the same formula that made Word...Lifea success). After the disappointing release O.C. disappeared from the scene until 2005, when he released his fourth album with Grit Records; Starchild which only dropped as a very limited Japanese/European import and was met with great acclaim. Later that year, he signed with Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings and teamed up with Bronx-native producer Mike Loe, and dropped Smoke and Mirrors.O.C. is also known for his feature on the Clockers soundtrack as part of the Crooklyn Dodgers, which also featured rappers Chubb Rock and Jeru the Damaja on the now classic DJ Premier produced "Return of the Crooklyn Dodgers". This is however the only time the group has ever collaborated.O.C. collaborated with fellow D.I.T.C. member A.G. for an album entitled Oasis. The bulk of the album was produced by French beatsmith E-Blaze with additional tracks supplied by Lord Finesse, Statik Selektah and Showbiz who also acts as the executive producer of the album. May 2012 saw the release of a new collaborative album with Detroit-based producer Apollo Brown entitled Trophies on the Mello Music Group label. The first single was "Prove Me Wrong". The vinyl version of that album has also been repressed several times over. With Ray West in 2014 O.C. has curated a more laid back and purposefully smooth affair. Besides flowing freely from track-to-track with the help of atmospheric interludes, Ray's Cafe is noticeably and gratifyingly short at nine tracks long as well. Ray's Cafe was released on Red Apples 45, a small label co-founded by A.G. and West. O.C. joined D.I.T.C. for their 2016 release Sessions which was preceded by the lead single "Rock Shyt" See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Banker–turned–singer, reality TV celebrity and social activist Ivan Wilzig has led a life that Hollywood movies are made of. After twenty years of working in his family’s multi-billion dollar commercial banking business and serving on the bank’s Board of Directors, Ivan left the banking world, reinvented himself as recording artist Sir Ivan, and against all odds became a Billboard Magazine Top Ten Recording Artist and philanthropic “superhero” of the LGBT community. His aim is to use his music and influence to demonstrate the importance of acceptance and understanding, especially of those who have been persecuted or who are different. His Music Career Since childhood, Ivan had dreams of becoming a pop star. Once his family sold the bank, he couldn’t wait to pursue his love of music. Sir Ivan chose as his first single the iconic John Lennon song “Imagine,” as the lyrics and message closely mirrored his own beliefs of creating a world without violence and hatred, where everyone is welcome and accepted for who they are. The reason these lyrics resonated so strongly with Ivan is because his father was an Auschwitz concentration camp survivor and 59 Jewish family members had been murdered during the Holocaust. The single was signed by Tommy Boy Records, released on September 4, 2001, exactly one week before the horrendous September 11th tragedy, and broke the Top 40 on the Billboard Club Play Chart. It was the first time a recording artist had converted the slow rock ballad “Imagine” (or any Beatles or John Lennon ballads) into a high energy dance record. In combining techno tracks with hippy lyrics, Sir Ivan had developed a new style he called “Technippy.” Amazingly, thirty years after Lennon’s original release, Sir Ivan had made the song popular again for a new generation. Inspired by the success of “Imagine”, he decided that all his music would be about universal love, human rights and peace. The 60’s were both the most evolutionary and revolutionary period in history – when civil rights, women’s rights and gay rights were bravely fought for. The fight for these rights is still being waged today and Sir Ivan is leading the battle through his music and his non-profit organization, The Peaceman Foundation, which he created in 2005. Sir Ivan is known as “Peaceman” because he looks like a superhero when performing in a cape with an ornate peace sign centered on the back. He has been spreading his message of positivity, acceptance and goodwill around the world for over fifteen years. After various degrees of success on the Billboard Charts, Sir Ivan made the Billboard Top Ten Dance Club Songs Chart for the first time with his hit single “Hare Krishna” in 2011, sharing the Top Ten chart with superstar performers Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna. Sir Ivan’s dream of becoming a pop star had become a reality. Then, with his hit single “Live For Today,” Sir Ivan made two different Top Ten Music Week Magazine Charts in the UK in 2011 and 2012 along with fellow artists Scissor Sisters, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Ed Sheeran, Tiesto, and Florence + the Machine. His first original song that he co-wrote the lyrics to, “La La Land,” also made the Top Ten in UK’s Music Week Chart in 2012, joining such artists as David Guetta, Elton John, and Kylie Minogue. In 2015, he launched a new anti-bullying anthem “Kiss All The Bullies Goodbye”, created specifically to address the nation’s teen bullying epidemic and the high suicide rate occurring within the LGBT teenage community, because the LGBT community, like other groups who have been persecuted for being different, were of special interest to him. Featuring Taylor Dayne and produced by Paul Oakenfold, the song, for which Sir Ivan co-wrote the lyrics, landed in the Top Ten in UK’s Music Week Chart in 2015, alongside Rita Ora and Chris Brown. The music video for “Kiss All the Bullies Goodbye” directed by BET/MTV award-winning director Erik White, made a strong impact on the LGBT community. In 2016, 15 years after Sir Ivan’s original 2001 release of “Imagine,” he remade the song yet again, because the planet has still not learned to live in peace. In light of the recent terrorist attacks in France, Turkey and Belgium, and because of continued violence against LGBT people, Sir Ivan felt it was an appropriate time for yet another generation to listen to Lennon’s optimistic lyrics, which offer hope to all people on the planet and a formula for world peace. This release also honors and pays tribute to the iconic John Lennon, who passed away 35 years ago, on December 8th, 1980. “Imagine” is the first single off Sir Ivan’s just released full-length EDM (electronic dance music) album called “Peaceman Shines”, which has already been receiving great reviews on the radio and in the clubs. Each of the 10 songs, created by 10 of the world’s best record producers, are all well-known anti-war and peace songs from the 60s and early 70s, except for two original songs, co-written by Sir Ivan, that share the same theme. Peaceman’s LGBT Support As mentioned above, Sir Ivan (and his Peaceman Foundation) has been a staunch advocate and ally of the LGBT community for many years, because he supports those who have been persecuted for being different. Over the last few years, he has given more than a quarter of a million dollars to many LGBT and anti-bullying organizations, including: ⦁ The Trevor Project ⦁ Campus Pride ⦁ GLSEN ⦁ PFLAG ⦁ Born This Way Foundation ⦁ It Gets Better Project ⦁ Love is Louder ⦁ Pacer ⦁ Anti-Defamation League ⦁ Stomp Out Bullying ⦁ Hetrick-Martin Institute ⦁ NYC Anti-Violence Project ⦁ LIGALY ⦁ Safe Schools Sir Ivan’s single, “Kiss All the Bullies Goodbye”, an anti-bullying anthem, released in 2015, underscores his commitment to support LGBT youth in any way he can, since bullying is far more prevalent among LGBT youth. As part of his desire to help LGBT youth, Sir Ivan also donated $100,000 to 10 anti-bullying organizations in 2015 to support the cause. 100% of the net proceeds from sales of “Kiss All the Bullies Goodbye” were also pledged to organizations that run anti-bullying education and awareness programs. In addition, in late 2015, Sir Ivan kicked off a transgender awareness campaign, to support transgender people in need. This campaign started with a large donation to the Trevor Project, and continues with a portion of the net proceeds from his 2016 re-release of “Imagine” pledged to the Anti-Violence Project, because transgender women are disproportionately affected by violence. Later in 2016, Sir Ivan and his family, who run the World Erotic Art Museum in Miami Beach, which was started by his mother, the late Naomi Wilzig, will launch the world’s largest virtual transgender visual arts show. Sir Ivan’s Quirky Fame Because of his music success, charitable work and fabulous medieval-style Castle in the Hamptons, he has been featured on TV shows all over the world, and is very popular in France and Germany. Stan Lee, the most famous superhero creator of all time, personally selected Sir Ivan to star as a finalist on the NBC Sci Fi Channel hit series called Who Wants to be a Superhero. Sir Ivan has also made featured appearances on VH1’s The Fabulous Life of the Hamptons, Discovery Channel’s Epic Castles and Bravo’s Chef Roble & Co. His movie experience consists of a major part in a full length documentary, King of the Hamptons, and, a minor role in an independent SAG film, called The Gold and the Beautiful. Sir Ivan is featured in a one-hour documentary film about his life, titled SIR IVAN: “I Am Peaceman”, which is available on Amazon, Google Play and Vimeo. The film is directed by four-time Emmy® award-winning director Jim Brown, who has also done documentaries on Billy Joel, Pete Seeger, and Peter, Paul and Mary. Currently, Sir Ivan is making his entry into the Hollywood movie business as one of the Executive Producers of Freak Show. Freak Show is an adaptation of James St. James’ bestseller of the same name, with cast members Alex Lawther, Bette Midler, Laverne Cox, Abigail Breslin and more, and is directed by Trudie Styler. Sir Ivan believes that this film, about a brutally beaten high school student who dresses flamboyantly, will significantly and positively change the way straight teenagers view and treat their LGBT counterparts. Sir Ivan is currently in talks with several major production companies discussing the potential for a reality TV show based on his eccentric lifestyle and passionate quest to change the world. On this week’s podcast: An exclusive live mix by Gez Varley aka G-Man of seminal rave/bleep techno pioneers LFO. Gerrard "Gez" Varley is a British electronic musician and DJ, who was member of LFO during the 1990s and later released his solo works under the moniker G-Man. Varley founded LFO in 1990 with Mark Bell, whom he had known since 1984. Their first release LFO was released by Warp Records in 1990 and reached the British single charts. During the mid-1990s Varley focused on his solo productions. His debut album Kushti was released in 1996 as G-Man. In the same year Varley left LFO. He released on his own imprint G Records as well as on the German labels Studio K7 and Force Inc. Music Works. In 1999 Varley moved to Wiesbaden, Germany.[1][2] In 2000 he founded the label GMR Records. Varley and Bell met while studying at Leeds and gave their first track, the eponymous "LFO", to Nightmares on Wax. The popularity of the demo in clubs led to the track being released by the Sheffield-based Warp Records in 1990, and it was a Top 20 hit in the U.K., reaching number 12 in the singles charts in July. Their follow-up single, "We Are Back", was released in the summer of 1991. DJ Martin (Martin Williams) is credited as a cowriter and coproducer of the track "LFO" but was not a member of the group.[2] Mark Bell explains: "We gave a tape of our recordings to DJ Martin who helped loads with arranging our tracks so it'd work on the dancefloor. We'd just been messing around with drum machines since we were like thirteen, tapping away at them like they were arcade games, making tapes to play our mates at school. Anyway, DJ Martin would play our cassettes in his sets and people would go mental - in a good way - cos they were totally raw."[3] Later signed to Tommy Boy Records in the U.S., the duo remixed Afrika Bambaataa's "Planet Rock", as well as songs from Björk, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, Laurent Garnier, and The Sabres of Paradise. Skylar Saint-Cox, host of The Queenz Of Media is thrilled to welcome one of the hottest and most talented actors to her show, Gregory Kieth, on Monday July The 6th at 12:30 A.M. EST! Gregory Kieth caught the acting bug as a child while entertaining at family gatherings, doing impersonations and storytelling. At the age of five, his family moved to California, where his interest in athletics and modeling eventually took a backseat to his true desire, acting. Parents never forget their children's first word. Well, when Greg began to speak, his folks say he didn't have just one word to say, but a whole rap song and beat, snapping his fingers and the whole nine yards. And while he grew up in the 'hood where fun and games were nonexistent, he didn't let his dire circumstances destroy his creative impulse. Realizing at a young age where his heart was, he gave up playing ball and headed to Hollywood. Not long after, Greg was recording his first demo album and testing his material at the local hot spots. After overwhelmingly positive feedback, he became even more ambitious to begin on his next album. Eventually, he found his niche as an actor, landing bit parts in various television series, including Suddenly Susan and The Jamie Foxx Show. You can hear Gregory's music on many movie soundtracks as well as television shows, including Noah's Arc, a gay-themed, African-American-oriented TV series, where he is a member of the ensemble in the role of Trey, a gay doctor. He's currently working on Johnny 99, an action film in which heaven and hell are at war on Earth; and he's recently entered talks with Tommy Boy Records about a recording contract.
