TALK TO ME, TEXT ITEver felt out of place in a gym built for someone else's goals? We open with a candid check-in and a plan to test-drive a large, crowded facility, using that moment to explore how fitness spaces shape motivation, identity, and what “works” as our bodies and priorities change. That honest uncertainty becomes a throughline for everything that follows: curiosity, doubt, and the quiet work of choosing what fits.We shift to the renewed search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and break down the details with fresh eyes: Ocean Infinity's “no find, no fee” contract, the 55-day intermittent window, and why a new 5,800-square-mile zone matters after a decade of unanswered questions. The real story here is human—families seeking closure, the limits of technology against vast ocean topography, and the stubborn hope that evidence still waits below. It's a sober look at how complex investigations evolve, why debris patterns influence search maps, and what success would mean after eleven years of grief and speculation. From there, the spotlight turns surprisingly personal: the story behind Wendy's name and the pressure it placed on Wendy Thomas Morse. We unpack the branding genius of a recognizable face and the unintended weight of living as a mascot. Dave Thomas's late-in-life apology adds a poignant layer, reminding us that legacy marketing isn't only about logos and taglines; it's about people navigating expectations and identity in public view. Then we examine research on aging and recovery, reflecting on the idea that around age 75 our bodies rebound more slowly from illness and injury. We talk functional fitness, practical training choices, and why adapting workouts matters more than chasing numbers on a barbell. We close with a holiday moment that ties it all together: a child's beloved walnut-shell ornament, long lost but never forgotten. Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 Disappearance | Paranormal Podcast In this episode, we dive deep into one of aviation's most perplexing mysteries: the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. On March 8, 2014, the Boeing 777 vanished from radar just 40 minutes after takeoff with 239 people on board, scheduled to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. We walk through the timeline of that fateful night—from the captain's routine "good night" at 1:00 AM to the plane disappearing completely at 1:20 AM—and explore the frantic scramble that followed as Malaysian officials, search teams, and grieving families desperately sought answers. What makes this case so compelling is the mountain of conflicting evidence: military radar detected an unidentified object crossing Malaysian airspace in a bizarre zigzag pattern, satellite systems pinged the aircraft for six hours after it vanished, and family members reported that calls to passengers' phones rang instead of going straight to voicemail. We examine multiple theories that have emerged over the past decade, each with its own compelling evidence and glaring holes. From the discovery of a suspicious flight simulator in the pilot's home that matched the plane's alleged route, to debris found on beaches thousands of miles away, to claims of Russian hijackers and American military involvement—nothing adds up cleanly. We discuss the work of independent investigators, including a group of engineers who theorized how someone could deliberately make a jetliner disappear, and "Cindy" from the Tomnodders who claims to have found wreckage in the South China Sea that was largely ignored.

Behind the Veil - The Mystery of Malaysia Flight 370    Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, and its wreckage has never been found. The cause remains one of aviation's greatest unsolved mysteries, with the leading theories pointing to a deliberate diversion and crash in the Southern Indian Ocean.    The Disappearance The Boeing 777, with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board, last communicated with air traffic control less than an hour after takeoff. The aircraft's transponder and communications systems were then manually turned off, and military radar showed it deviating from its planned route, turning westward and flying across the Malay Peninsula before heading south into the remote Indian Ocean.  Automated "handshake" signals with an Inmarsat satellite indicated the plane continued to fly for hours until it ran out of fuel and crashed. Analysis of these signals and ocean drift modeling of subsequent debris narrowed the likely crash area to a specific arc in the Southern Indian Ocean.    Key Evidence and Theories Debris: Beginning in 2015, over two dozen pieces of debris washed ashore on coastlines in the western Indian Ocean, including Réunion Island, Mozambique, and Tanzania. Three pieces were positively identified as being from MH370, confirming the plane crashed in the ocean. Pilot Involvement: The leading theory among experts is that someone with intimate knowledge of the aircraft deliberately diverted the plane. Evidence supporting this includes the manual turning off of the communication systems and the discovery that the captain, Zaharie Ahmad Shah, had conducted a simulated flight into the Southern Indian Ocean on his home simulator less than a month before the disappearance. Incapacitated Crew: Another viable theory is a "ghost plane" scenario, where the crew and passengers became incapacitated, possibly due to a fire or rapid decompression, and the plane continued on autopilot until it ran out of fuel.    Current Status (Late 2025) The official, government-led search efforts by Malaysia, Australia, and China were suspended in January 2017 after an extensive search of the seafloor yielded no wreckage. A subsequent private search by the American marine robotics firm Ocean Infinity in 2018 was also unsuccessful.  A new "no find, no fee" search by Ocean Infinity was approved by the Malaysian government in March 2025 and began shortly after. However, this latest search was suspended in April 2025 due to seasonal weather conditions but is planned to resume at the end of 2025.

What's the latest with Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (MH370)? The 777 disappeared over 11 years ago. John Goglia and Todd Curtis provide the latest details. They also look at a 2023 crash of a Robinson R22 helicopter in rural Australia. The evening flight ended in tragedy when the pilot was killed when the helicopter crashed into trees at about 88 knots. The helicopter was not equipped for night flying and lacked an artificial horizon. The pilot relied on a lighted helipad for guidance but could not see it because of smoke in the area due to controlled burns. Despite multiple radio calls reporting he could not see the lights, the pilot continued the flight. This incident is a case of an overconfident pilot flying in conditions beyond his qualifications or experience. The pilot had flown at night before without proper qualifications, leading to complacency. The pilot took unnecessary risks by taking off at night without the proper equipment, experience, and judgment. Earlier he received the life sentence in absentia in the Netherlands for his role in downing the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, after 298 civilians were killed when Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down by Russian-backed militants. Dutch prosecutors charged Girkin and three others with mass murder. Girkin admits "moral responsibility" but denies pushing the button. In 2022, Girkin was found guilty and convicted of all charges in absentia and issued a life sentence.Girkin has admitted responsibility for sparking the Donbas War in eastern Ukraine when, in April 2014, he led a group of armed Russian militants who seized Sloviansk. Part two of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, Sean, Jorge, and Eric, explore the myriad theories that attempt to unravel the mystery of the vanished aircraft. This episode focuses on dissecting the various hypotheses surrounding the events of March 8, 2014, when MH370 lost contact and disappeared with 239 people on board. The episode opens with a discussion of the hypoxia event theory, a leading explanation that suggests a sudden lack of oxygen incapacitated everyone on board, leaving the aircraft to fly on autopilot until it ran out of fuel and crashed into the Indian Ocean. The Boys explain how a failure in cabin pressurization could lead to such a scenario, emphasizing the aircraft's continued flight on a seemingly controlled path as per the data provided by Inmarsat's satellite pings. From there, the narrative shifts to other possibilities that have captured the imagination and scrutiny of the world. The Boys consider the chilling notion of pilot suicide, discussing the intense scrutiny on Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, whose personal life and professional expertise became focal points of speculation. They discuss the lack of conclusive evidence linking him to a deliberate act, despite the discovery of a simulated flight path on his home flight simulator that intriguingly mirrored MH370's presumed route. Next, they tackle the more unconventional and controversial theories, such as cyber hijacking, where experts speculate that external hackers could have remotely commandeered the aircraft's systems. The theory of a state-sponsored interception is also examined, alongside the outlandish and widely dismissed notion of alien abduction, which, while not supported by evidence, reflects the global fascination and myriad of questions that still surround the flight's disappearance. On March 8, 2014, a Boeing 777-200ER scheduled to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing mysteriously vanished from radar with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board, sparking one of the biggest aviation mysteries in history. The episode begins with a detailed look at the pre-flight circumstances and the profiles of key crew members. Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, a veteran pilot with Malaysia Airlines since 1981, boasted over 18,000 flight hours. His impeccable reputation and passion for flying make his involvement in the disappearance a central point of intrigue. Despite speculative media reports about personal issues, no evidence conclusively ties him to any wrongdoing. The co-pilot, First Officer Fariq Abdul Hamid, was in the final stages of his Boeing 777 certification, with Flight 370 being one of his last training flights. Fariq was regarded as professional and dedicated. As the aircraft took off smoothly at 00:42, everything appeared normal with the Boeing 777-200ER climbing to its cruising altitude. The routine status of the flight continued until 1:07 a.m., when the last ACARS transmission was sent, showing nothing out of the ordinary. However, at 1:19 a.m., the tone shifts as the crew performs a standard voice check-in, with the haunting last words, "All right, good night," spoken as the aircraft left Malaysian airspace. Dramatically, at 1:21 a.m., the transponder ceased transmission. The disappearance of the transponder signal marks a critical juncture in the flight's journey, leading to the aircraft vanishing from radar screens. This pivotal moment led to an exhaustive international search and spawned numerous theories ranging from hijacking and pilot suicide to mechanical failure. The narrative then shifts to the extensive search operations that spanned the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean. Despite deploying advanced technology and covering vast areas, no conclusive evidence of the aircraft was found until a flaperon was discovered on Réunion Island in 2015, confirming the aircraft had indeed met a tragic end over the ocean. In their exploration, The Boys discuss the role of Inmarsat satellite data, which played a crucial part in narrowing the search area by analyzing "pings" from the aircraft post-disappearance. This analysis suggested a southern trajectory over the Indian Ocean, away from any traditional flight paths. The episode concludes with a discussion on the aftermath of the disappearance, including the impact on the passengers' families and the aviation industry. The mystery of Flight 370 continues to evoke questions, making it a compelling story of human tragedy intertwined with technological mystery. The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH-370 on March 8, 2014, remains one of the greatest aviation mysteries in modern history. After departing from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing with 239 passengers and crew, the Boeing 777 lost contact with air traffic control and vanished from civilian radar. A later analysis revealed that the plane had sharply deviated from its flight path, flying westward over the Malay Peninsula and into the Indian Ocean, where it is believed to have crashed after running out of fuel. Despite an extensive international search covering vast areas of the Indian Ocean, only small pieces of wreckage have been recovered, and the plane's main body, along with its black boxes, remains missing.Theories about the disappearance range from pilot suicide and mechanical failure to hijacking and government cover-ups. Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, the experienced pilot, has been scrutinized, with some suggesting he may have intentionally downed the plane, though no conclusive evidence has been found. Families of the missing passengers have endured years of emotional torment, desperate for closure. Recent technological advances, like the WSPR tracking method, have pointed to a potential new crash site, but as of 2024, no new search has been approved. My guest today is Eliot Higgins, a British citizen journalist and founder of Bellingcat, a website that specialises in open-source intelligence. In 2012, while unemployed, he became involved in online discussions about the conflict in Syria, where few journalists were able to operate. Despite having little prior interest in the region, he began to study videos of the conflict, and started a blog on which he analysed geodata and weaponry. This work exposed atrocities and helped establish an evidence base for crimes allegedly committed by the Syrian government. In 2013 Stuart Hughes, a BBC News producer told the New Yorker: “he's probably broken more stories than most journalists do in a career.” In the decade since, however, Bellingcat has broken dozens more, investigating the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in 2014, and exposing the true identities of the Russian spies who the British government claims poisoned Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury in 2018. Throughout all of this, my guest has remained a keen player of video games –– despite quitting World of Warcraft for fear his marriage might not survive his addiction. And he says that being part of these online communities has been instrumental in honing his talents.  Be attitude for gains. https://plus.acast.com/s/my-perfect-console. Hosted on Acast. **Discussion beings at 4:00**We are counting down our favorite episodes of the year.  On March 8, 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 took off in the early hours of the morning as the red eye flight from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, with an intended destination of Beijing, China.  There were 227 passengers on board, with 12 crew members.  The pilot in command, 53 year old Captain Zaharie Shah, was performing a final instructional flight for 27 yo co-pilot, first officer Fariq Hamid.  It was a clear, calm night, and the flight was initially uneventful.  At cruising altitude of 35,000 feet, the flight was leaving Malaysian Air Space and was instructed to transfer to the air traffic control tower in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.  At 0119, Captain Shah radioed the Air Traffic Controllers in Malaysia “Good night, Malaysian 370”.  That was the last verbal contact with anyone on the plane.   Approximately 103 seconds later, the aircraft went dark and vanished from all radar screens in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Ho Chi Minh City.  There were two transponders onboard the plane, so to disappear, both transponders would need to cease functioning – either by catastrophic failure or by manual override by someone on the plane.  It was over 20 minutes before anyone noted the plane was missing.  It did not arrive for it's 6:30 ETA, and only had enough fuel to fly until ~ 8:15 AM.  The most expensive search and rescue operation in aviation history was initiated. To this day, we do not know where the airplane is, or what happened to the 239 souls on board.  An extensive safety report was released which did not answer many questions and had inconclusive findings.  They denied suspecting any crew was involved, and reported that air traffic control was delayed in noting the missing plane.  Theories vary, from a hijacking or suicide mission, to a military operation, and a plethora of questions still exist.   One thing is for sure, evidence of shoddy investigative work and potential cover-ups abound.  What really happened to MH37 in the early morning hours of March 8 , 2014?Send us a Text Message.Support the Show.Theme song by INDA
