Episode 64 – Take Care, Caretaker ‘I took a huge breath and walked through the door. I found nothing … no one. A very cold and dark feeling swept over me. I grabbed my bag, went back into the hall, closed the window at the back of the stage, switched the lights off, made sure the kitchen lights were off, and got outside. It was still daylight, and the mood was so much lighter, but I had no idea what I'd just experienced in that community hall.'This is episode 64 of the Haunted UK Podcast, and in this episode, we'll be taken to a haunted … community centre – but isn't this kind of haunted place so much worse than castles, manor homes and remote deserted cabins in woods? – because it's a place most of us know, a place which is typical in so many towns in the UK … a place we've been to for parties, weigh-ins, jumble sales. You know it well: a place where chairs are stacked to the side for events, with a small stage and musty curtains; a kitchen with a tea urn and serving hatch. Pantomimes at Christmas, committee meetings on Tuesdays. All very tame, all very everyday. But this story is not everyday … and it's not tame.Get yourselves ready as we unlock the secrets of this not-so-everyday community centre and warn, ‘Take Care, Caretaker' …Do you have an interesting story which you'd be willing to share with the show? The Haunted UK Podcast is proud to be involved with this very special 'Podcast Episode Swap' with the excellent Macabrium Podcast.Macabrium is a podcast for anyone drawn to the dark side of humanity, the shadows of crime, and the legends and ghost stories that blur the line between truth and myth. Every Tuesday we share stories that are as unsettling as they are unforgettable, weaving together fact, folklore, and imagination.Hosted by artists (actors Megan Alda and Derek Stephen Brown) who wanted a way to connect and share stories that matter and leave an impact, Macabrium is fueled by curiosity and a love of storytelling. These are the tales that stay with us whether they come from old case files, folklore, or histories that don't make it into textbooks. They approach each story with care, honouring the people and experiences at the center of these narratives.Macabrium is more than exploring the mysterious and the disturbing. It is about the impact stories have on us and the conversations they spark. It is a space for listeners who want to reflect, connect, and perhaps feel a chill or two along the way.Today, we have episode "115. Treacherous Seas: A Mystery in the Graveyard of the Atlantic"There are ships that vanish without a trace... and then there are ships that turn up when they shouldn't. The Carroll A. Deering was one of those. A five-masted schooner, found run aground off the Outer Banks in 1921, her crew gone without explanation. No distress call, no goodbye, nothing Some say it was mutiny, others say pirates, and a few still wonder if something far stranger was at play…..Enjoy the episode, and be sure to follow the Macabrium Podcast - https://macabriumpod.com/ - Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/haunted-uk-podcast--6759967/support.

On Sunday the 3rd of August I had the chance to attend the Black Shuck Festival in Bungay, a lovely town in East Suffolk. We briefly talked about the legendary Black Dog, Black Shuck, in Episode 5 of Season 6, but I wanted to dig deeper. I wanted to know more about its story, its impact on Bungay, and its cultural significance today. Plus, what goes into organizing such a fantastic event? Who's involved, and how do they pull it all together? To get the scoop, I was lucky enough to chat with Chris Reeve and James Mayhew. These individuals not only know the legend of Black Shuck inside out but also understand the intricacies of putting together this fantastic festival. We met at Bungay's Museum, and I had the pleasure of interviewing them both. Their insights were fascinating, and I'm excited to share these interviews with you as we gear up for Season 7 of the Haunted UK Podcast. Before we start, stay tuned for a special prize giveaway! Keep an eye on our Patreon, Kofi, and social media accounts for more details. Welcome dear listeners, to our series of ‘Short Haunts' – a shot of scary ... just for you. So, grab a hot chocolate, maybe a tea, maybe something stronger … because this is Haunted UK Podcast's 'Short Haunts - Remnants from the Past?'.The Occult and Witchcraft have been embedded in our culture and history for hundreds of years, and the people who have practiced it over time have often brought unwanted attention to themselves. You only have to do a brief internet search for Matthew Hopkins to begin to understand the persecution that these people suffered. Hopkins was known as the Witch Finder General in the 1640's, but he was only one of many people who were 'employed' to hunt down and kill witches.Thankfully, with our more modern outlook and understanding of the occult and witchcraft, it's not always necessarily seen as a practice of evil intent.Presented by Steve HollowayProduced by Pink Flamingo Home StudiosDo you have an interesting story which features the paranormal? ‘A little rattled, a little unnerved, Ken left to stay at East Green for the night with Debbie – as he left, he noticed a chalk etching on the wall, ‘WHAT ARE YOU SCARED OF? KEN DEB PETER?' it read. Ken and Debbie quickly made a grab for the door – the truth was he wasn't sure who or what he was scared of and that was proving a problem. And although Ken may not have known what to be fearful of, he knew this fear was a thing, something tangible that stalked his floorboards, made footprints on his walls and was closing him down. We all love a good story about a haunted house ... the scares ... the fear ... the paranoia. Often in such stories, one person in a relationship will see or experience things; whilst the other doesn't, leading to some very tense, awkward, and sometimes destructive moments. However, this Short Haunt is different – both people in this particular relationship do see things ... experience things ... witness things ... at the same time. A multiple witness case is a rare thing, but the following story sent in by Kelly is simply fascinating. So, we invite you to knock at the door … as we face George at No.4.Presented by SteveProduced by Pink Flamingo Home StudiosScript edited by Marie Waller Proofreading Do you have an interesting story which features the paranormal? Around 21,000 years ago during the last ice age, many scientists agree that a huge land bridge existed which stretched between North American Alaska and Russia. This is now the location of the Bering Sea. It is widely believed that this land bridge enabled human settlers to migrate from the Asian Continent and to begin to forge a new life in this huge new world. But during their incredibly dangerous journey, did these early explorers unknowingly invade the territory of a mysterious creature, one that now features in almost all Native American fokelore?Stories and sightings of this mythical beast continue to crop up even today, ranging from fleeting glimpses, to full on encounters. This legendary creature is know by many different names including Dark Watchers, Ts'emekwes, Skoocooms and Sasquatch...but you and I know it better as Bigfoot...Do you have an interesting story which you'd be willing to share with the show? The mist seemed to be swirling across the surface of the water at a measured deliberate pace; the woman watched in complete disbelief as it began to form into the shape of a human-like figure with wings. As the figure continued to take shape and rise above the water, she wasn't sure if it was an angel, demon, good, nefarious; but she knew it wasn't of this earth and it had some intent towards her – the woman panicked and fled the park as quickly as she could. This is episode 39 of the Haunted UK Podcast, and in this episode, we're going to learn about the ghosts and hauntings which go on at a house which was never, or perhaps … could be lived in: Woodchester Mansion.Do you love ghost stories, tales of haunted houses and poltergeist encounters? On the 16th July 2021 I released an episode of the show which became so popular that many listeners have been asking for a follow-up ever since. That episode was Time Slips, and it dealt with an element of the paranormal which many find completely unbelievable...until they hear the stories. We know that many famous Physicists such as both the late Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein believed that time travel was theoretically possible....it was just that our technology was lagging behind...way behind, and still is.The energy needed to accomplish a feat such as time travel is almost unthinkable and it's fair to say that it'll be hundreds of years in the future before the human race will even begin to dabble in this paradoxical and potentially dangerous element of science...but what if some people have already crossed over into another time...and come back to tell the story.

Located on the banks of the Mississippi river, New Orleans is famous for many things such as jazz music, Creole and Cajun cuisine, and a rich cultural heritage that blends African, Native American, Spanish, Caribbean, and French ancestry. Nicknamed “The Big Easy”, New Orleans conjures up images of Mardi Gras parades with their colourful purple, green, and gold bead necklaces, and bands walking the streets playing to roaring crowds… But the joyful, celebratory side of New Orleans has an equally dark, sombre, and much more frightening side…This is Haunted UK Abroad, and today we visit the Southern state of Louisianna in the U.S. and, specifically, the – by all accounts very haunted – city of New Orleans.Do you have an interesting story which you'd be willing to share with the show? Momentarily he stopped to listen, concentrating to see if he could hear anyone talking. He did this to try and gauge how many people could potentially be in the room ... but it was completely silent. Again, he went to take another step closer, but as he prepared to do so, a chair came flying out of the room. This was then followed by a definite and unmistakeable sense of pressure on his shoulders. Hello to all of you lovely listeners out there. From June 1st 2025, the Haunted UK Podcast will be making a few changes to how you can help support the show. In the past, Patreon would have been the goto option for so many, but after a series of incredibly damaging charges issued by companies such as Apple…mentioning no names…we decided to take a step back and have a think about how we could offer you, our fantastic listeners, the best possible alternative to those unnecessary charges. So, from the date already mentioned, the Haunted UK Podcast will not only be on Patreon, but we'll also now be on Kofi…and the price you see for the tier…is the price you'll pay…no charges…nothing hidden…no more, no less. Our three tiers will also be shrunk down to just two – SPOOKED @ £3.00 per month, our dip your toe in the water kinda tier – and POSSESSED @ just £7.00 per month, our top of the line tier. We've also decided to stop releasing our series Movie Haunts, simply because it just didn't seem to be popular to the wider audience.Another alteration will be to our series Talk Haunts, our interview-based spin off. We're not completely phasing it out, but we are going to pick and choose the times when we release these types of episodes…so that could be once every 3 months…or maybe every 6 months. With the time that we'll have clawed back from not doing these episodes, we'll be much more focused on doing what we feel we do best…releasing episodes about ghosts, hauntings, poltergeists…the paranormal…the supernatural…the unknown…the unexplained…and of course…your listeners' stories. These episodes will form the basis of our two tiers…more great content, but the type of content that we all know and love. And as with Patreon, if you love the community side of being a tier member, and that's what might be holding you back from joining Kofi or swapping from Patreon to Kofi…then don't worry…we've got you covered. We now have our Discord Server so, you can chat, message, video or voice call. You'll have automatic access to this when you sign up to either tier…but this server will also be available to existing and new Patreon members…we want to keep this community as connected and together as humanly possible. And to make our entire back catalogue more accessible to you on ko-fi, you'll also be given access to a cloud-based drive, where you'll find every single one of our episodes, all organised into easy to navigate folders. We can't wait to see you either on Patreon or Kofi, and if you're already an existing member of Patreon, then we simply can't thank each and every single one of you enough for all of your amazing support. So, with all of that said, if you want to take advantage of Ko-fi and sign up to a tier right now…then it's easy – go to Ko-fi.com/hauntedukpodcast, and you'll find us straight away. Alternatively, just type something like “haunted uk podcast on kofi' into a web browser, and you'll soon be on our page. So, until the next time…until the next episode…stay safe…and take care.Haunted UK Podcast Patreonko-fi.com/hauntedukpodcastWebsite: https://hauntedukpodcast.com/Instagram: Haunted UK PodcastTwitter/X: @hauntedukpodWe're also now on Facebook – please join us there! You can also find us on Tiktok here https://www.tiktok.com/@hauntedukpodcast

So, grab a hot chocolate, maybe a tea, maybe something stronger … because this is Haunted UK Podcast's 'Short Haunts –Angel or Apparition.'Many of us go through life with little or no interaction with the paranormal, whilst others seem like beacons, who cannot help but attract activity. As we've heard so many times on this podcast, the supernatural and paranormal can become embroiled in the lives of so many different people...scientists, doctors, care-workers, lawyers. It doesn't care who's lives it touches, and whilst many of the stories which we've heard, and researched, consist of accounts which left those at the centre of the activity completely terrified, there are a handful of stories which...go against that grain.Presented by Steve HollowayProduced by Pink Flamingo Home StudiosScript edited by Marie Waller Proofreading Do you have an interesting story which features the paranormal?
