On this episode, I'm joined by my ex Jordan who I dated for six months in the beginning of the pandemic until he ended things, seemingly out of the blue. After not speaking for two years, we recently reconnected when I saw his Instagram post announcing and celebrating that he came out. Jordan and I sit down to discuss his coming out journey, including years of experimenting, moving to a new city where he could fully explore his sexuality, and finally coming out to his friends and family after keeping it a secret for so long. We chat about our relationship and our breakup, how dating me helped him realize that he liked men, the differences in dating men and women on apps, and how it feels to finally be his most authentic self. Girl talk turns baby talk on this unfiltered episode! I may be pregnant with my second child, but since it's been eight years since I carried my son, it feels a lot like a first! To help me prepare (and laugh about) all the pregnancy stages and answer my hilariously honest questions, I invited my friend Jordan Paul back to set me straight. We talk pregnancy advice (good and bad!), cravings, breastfeeding, her home birth, body image and so. much. more. This will be entertaining whether you're pregnant, ever plan to be or are long past your child rearing days...we keep it real and bring you into our slightly TMI talk. Learn more about Jordan Passionately passionate about all of the passions and a tagline of, “I can totally make that,” Jordan Paul, a Chicagoland native, steps onto her #crunchylife soapbox to come at you hungrily with spunk and honesty as she's trying to balance life as a tandem-breastfeeding mom and non-cleaning housewife, while she walks around Earth, mindlessly humming tunes from the devil's show, aka… Cocomelon. What she lacks in many areas, she compensates for with incredible homemade baked goods, Italian hospitality, and good, tight hugs. Jordan loves a good belly laugh, a well-written romance novel, and…not-so-silently correcting your grammar. Above all, she loves Jesus and seeks to be light to everyone she comes across. Joshua 3:1-4 When one door closes and another opens, it is always a day mixed with both sorrow and joy, and yesterday was no exception. I say sorrow, not because of regret but because the door that is closing leaves behind with it an era that has now come to an end and as one looks back, the memories abound! Memories of God's faithful dealings, His divine providence, and keeping hand of grace. His faithful provision and steadfast promises which all the way hath proven to be yea and amen! To run a course appointed you by God and to have Him close the door and in its place to open another is a thing to be most cherished. So many bail out on God before the time, but to run the course and to finish the race and then to have God move you on unto things better still; is to have the calm repose and restful assurance that we are right where He would have us to be!!! This is the last sermon ever preached in the Chapel of Royal School Wolverhampton. We reflect on how the Lord has led us thus far and prepare ourselves for Him bringing us into our new place of meeting. Two things are apparent, the Lord has gone before us and we must seek to follow after in the spirit of earnest prayer!
Christians say the darndest things. There's a litany of lingo that Christians use that often needs some decoding. #blessyourheart What do we even mean when we refer to our "quiet time" or "doing life in community?" Why do we want you to be "born again" or "lean in" to the message at our church? When we say "we're praying about it" are we just avoiding a "no" or are we "laying out a fleece" to determine God's will about it? Are you "equally yoked" with the guy you just swiped right on Christian Mingle for? My funny friend Jordan Paul joins me to bring you the layman's terms for these cringey clichés. Consider us your Christian thesaurus as we break down what we say, explaining what we mean. These days it's popular to decide what's "true for you" but, whether you're a follower of Jesus or you think we're kind of weird (understandable...promise) this episode is a must-listen. At the very least you'll get to laugh (even if it's at us), but you might also get long-held questions answered that literally matter for all of eternity. "God works in mysterious ways." Plus, rapid fire question rounds give me life, and she doesn't disappoint! Learn more about Jordan Passionately passionate about all of the passions and a tag line of, “I can totally make that,” Jordan, a Chicagoland native, comes at you hungrily with spunk and honesty as she's trying to balance the life of a toddler mom, pop tart craving fetus grower, and non-cleaning housewife. When Jordan Paul, now known as Ellis Meek released ‘Strange,' there was no indication it would turn out to be a quarantine anthem, with a spot on BBC in the South West, and in Le Soundtrack's ‘Best New Canadian Indie Releases.' The track is a call for compassion and empathy, and feels as though it was a direct reaction to the week of April it was released on; just as a global pandemic was peeking its head out to the whole world. In actuality, it was written when Jordan Paul was 17—a young empath just coming to terms with the often dark nature of things, and the fear-based responses people can resort to in lieu of love and connection. October 30th's follow-up “Archetype X” only furthers the singer-songwriter's sentiments, as Paul's oft-layered lyricism is pointedly laid bare in a song that explores the act of journeying inwards for therapeutic release. “Archetype X” was written in a self-processed act of therapy, and comes as the ultimate evolution in Hamiltonian Jordan Paul's distinctive musical style. The song boasts notes of delicate and exploratory alt. folk/rock, taking an expansive journey well beyond its subtle indie-folk roots. After Paul belts out the final refrain in the electrified coda, “Archetype X” fades into a chattering of hazy distortion and thrumming space echo—the welcome and careful calm to ease us back to reposeful contemplation before the song fades into the ether. “Jordan Paul's voice shines like an otherworldly, sophisticated diamond, hypnotic and sure. And with his newest single, he gives us another taste of something we can't get enough of.” Brent Jensen, radio personality, author, and host of No Sleep ‘til Sudbury “Archetype X” is the third release of 2020 from Jordan Paul, recorded at Jonathan Anderson's (Andy Shauf, Aidan Knight, Said the Whale) Protection Island Studios in Maple Ridge, BC, and mastered by Noah Mintz (Marcy Playground, Broken Social Scene, Matt Mays). Canadian alt/folk rock singer/songwriter Jordan Paul Comedian Ward Anderson Entertainment writer Bill Harris
"Our most revered heroes, such as Jesus, Gandhi and Martin Luther King, distinguished themselves by their ability to remain true to themselves even when facing adversity. Whenever we exhibit this kind of integrity we feel like our own hero," writes Dr. Jordan Paul in his latest book, BECOMING YOUR OWN HERO. "It is available to us all but," he adds, "even our inspirational heroes usually have not shown us the way to apply this principle in our close interpersonal relationships." Now, Dr. Paul, co-author of the national best-seller, "Do I Have to Give Up Me to Be Loved by You?, fills this gap. By showing us how to respond to difficulties in ways that do not compromise our own integrity or that of others, he provides a guide to finding greater fulfillment in relationships with ourselves, significant others, children, friends, and co-workers.
This week on the Create Therefore Podcast we dive deep with singer songwriter, Jordan Paul. Here's More on Jordan: Music is the fabric that ties our human emotionality together. It weaves the bond between us and lessens the distance we feel from our counterparts. For Jordan Paul, it is the very essence of his communication–to journey into his music is to step momentarily into his chaotic mind. Three-time Grammy Award-winner, Chris Birkett (Led Zeppelin, Quincy Jones, Sinéad O’Connor), hails Paul as “Canada's Jeff Buckley,” and “one of the best singers I’ve ever heard.”
