We're doing a good ol' fashioned deep dive on the man from the Great White North who made Hollywood his second city and blew up the box office! We go through Rick's early life, his meteoric rise and his powerful decision to walk away from it all, proving he was the goodhearted nerd we always cheered for. If it ever comes out that he's actually a terrible person we will have to immediately take this episode down because we shower him with praise as both a performer and a man. But I don't think he will, because he's Rick Moranis, the littlest giant of the silver screen.Want even more Nerd of Mouth? This week the podcast is invaded from the Great White North by Mr. Matt Ehret to assist Dexter and myself to understand the depth of the perfidy that is the place known as the country of Canadia. Matt goes through a number of eras of Canadian politics to illluminate just how strongly the dead hand of the British Crown rules over the US's supposedly harmless neighbors above the 49th parallel.Show Notes:Matt Ehret on substackMark Carney's Dystopic Pedigree - FilmUFO series. Hello again Fight Friends!HAPPY SEPTEMBER LONG WEEKEND!I am up in Sherwood Park for a wedding, but brought my computer with me to get this AWESOME podcast out and maybe help out making the long weekend commute a little shorter for my friends travelling this weekend.SPEAKING OF AWESOME PODCASTS! - in this episode I get to sit and chat with one of the real old skool legends of Canadian Muay Thai, Mr. Gerald Ching of MAFA in Mississauga! I won't lie to ya, I have known of Gerald for a long time, we have met several times - But I always watched him as a coach/cornerman at events and noticed he's always the same! very stoic/unchanged in demeanor as well as behaviour, win or loss - and because of this, I wasn't sure really how to read him. But it wasn't long into this podcast that I was reminded why I like to speak with the old school on the pod.We have a chat about when Gerald first laid eyes on Muay Thai and his immediate obsession in the 80's. Their wasn't Muay Thai happening much in the Great White North at the time, so Gerald took it upon himself to go and seek the information, training and knowledge to being back to his students and for himself, before being introduced to Ajahn Suchart. We also get into his and Eric Rocha's unique relationship (Eric was the last episode!) from student to fighter/coach to running a well oiled machine of a fight team! AND - I get called out for letting my inner bitch come out a bit being a trainer/padman! Gerald has a few years on me and is still in GREAT shape and very active in the trainer lifestyle, and he didn't let me use my excuses haha, in all honesty - I loved it! I am always a student in Martial Arts, my cup is always 1/2 empty and I listen to those who came before me. So speaking to one of the Master Splinters of Canadian Muay Thai was a real treat and I'm grateful. These are the kinds of podcasts where I actually take something away from it and try to apply it to my own life - I suppose you might call that inspiration! My favorite podcasts are often the ones where we talk beyond the "punch and kick" and talk about the life that surrounds the punch and kick - and this is one of those pods! thank you for the great chat sir! I am genuinely grateful. SHOUT OUT TO YOU GERALD!
Subtitled: A Story of the Three River Country. James Kent has learned that he is terminally ill with perhaps only days to live, and so decides to confess to a murder and thus save an innocent man. Nobody believes his confession, particularly Marette, a mysterious girl who had shown up at Athabasca Landing only weeks before. Kent's illness takes a turn and his death is postponed, and he sets about to find out more about the girl, who he ends up falling in love with, although she'll not reveal her past to him, nor what she knows about the murder. A story of intrigue, suspense, action, and above all, a story of love in the furthest outreaches of the Great White North where three great rivers flow; the Athabasca, the Slave, and the McKenzie, and where somewhere is hidden The Valley of Silent Men.

All the way from Canada, Henry Sir joins the pod alongside returning guest Tucker Brookshire. Together, they're two of the coldest white boys Drago knows. The boys jump right in, asking Henry what the culture is like up in the Great White North, and the conversation quickly turns to talk about cigarettes and Zyn – including a story of Alex going home with a woman who pulled out Zyn on their walk home together. Tucker is working to de-optimize his life and taking on the idea of not strangling the goose. The boys talk about whether or not a civil war is looming in America. And the boys answer listener questions, including: What's your go-to road trip snack, and what movie or series would you win trivia about? True Crime, Documentary, Culture, Society, History - Jeffrey Walker
Trump invokes the Home Rule Act of 1973 to clean up the nation's crime-ridden capital, temporarily wresting control of the DC Metropolitan Police from local authorities. He's fed up with the crooks in DC, though what to do with the ones in Congress is anybody's guess. Meanwhile in Canada, medically assisted suicide has spiraled out of control just as its critics said it would, becoming a major driver of demographic change and underscoring a culture of despair. This week, the guys are joined by Andrew Beck to discuss troubles in DC and the Great White North, as well as the uncovering of now-Senator Adam Schiff's authorization for a baseless 2017 Russiagate intel leak aimed at dragging Trump's reputation. Plus: media recommendations! This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit claremontinstitute.substack.com
