This week, Neel and Julius discuss the end of the war in Afghanistan (and how US Imperialism started unrest in the region), Islamophobia in Modi's India, and the efficacy of revolution compared to reform under a capitalist system. We also celebrate/mourn the dropping out of Pete Buttigieg and Tom Steyer (this was recorded hours before Klobuchar dropped out as well), and we scream for a few minutes about the difficulties of organizing political action in a detached, white suburb. I’m Michael Elkins, your host, labor and employment attorney, founder of the law firm MLE Law, investor and this is the final episode in 2019 of Game 7: The Sports Business & Lifestyle Podcast. On today’s show I sit down with former NFL Tight-End Julius Thomas. Ordinarily, I wrote my own guest introduction. For this episode, however, I'm using an introduction from Julius himself, taken from his August 2018 retirement article in The Players' Tribune:"I’m ready to admit that I’m okay with giving up the identity of 'Julius the football player.' I’m O.K. with not being recognized as an NFL athlete — because I’m more than that. I have stepped out of my identity before, and I will continue to do it again and again throughout life. I believe helping others is what I’m supposed to be doing at this point in my life. Hopefully I can help by encouraging more of my peers to connect with who they are outside of the game. If ultimately that’s what I’m remembered for, I’d be very thankful.Because this is the thing I want to do most in the world, and now, I’m going to give all of myself to it."https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/football-julius-thomas-journey-into-selfJoined by Miami Dolphins Chaplain, Terry Boynton (a previous guest on the show) we discuss Julius' journey from professional athlete to PHD student, his desire to help others with their emotions and feelings and the power of talk therapy. We also collectively discuss the impact of stress and breaking down emotional cultural norms. This is a really powerful episode for anyone interested in learning about the importance of mental health. Julius and Terry provide incredible insight and it was a pleasure to sit down with them both. Enjoy the show!

Welcome back, Helsingers!! Our show has finally returned. When last we peeked into the life and wild times of Vanessa Van Helsing things weren't going so well. Scarlett had sacrificed herself and Sam killed the thing he loved so that he could embrace his own dark destiny. RIP Mohamad. We're still not okay. This week's premiere picks up immediately where we left off with Sam and his new look. The new Elder wants to commemorate the occasion by killing off the last of the Van Helsing women. Vanessa and her newly revived ancestor, Lily. Hit Play and listen in as Brad and Cort discuss Ep 4x01, "Dark Destiny". Lily definitely felt out of place in this new world. Especially when she discovered Vanessa's secret superpower. Were you bummed that Lily refused Vanessa's offer to save her life? What did you think of Julius and Scab's long-awaited showdown? Julius was more than a little disrespectful to the Sisterhood's latest initiate. How far our Doc has come? Once upon a time, she left her good friend behind to face certain death because she was too afraid to act. What do you think of Neal McDonough's character, Hansen? Is he a bad guy or kinda misunderstood? The actor has played some straight-up villains before and it will be interesting to see him in this new setting? What did you think of Julius' new charge? The meeting was brief, but she certainly made an interesting first impression. Give us a listen and then be sure to drop a comment or in our Facebook group with your thoughts on the episode. You can also send us an email at bradandcorttalk@gmail.com. This week's episode, "Dark Destiny" was written by new showrunner, Jonathan Lloyd Walker and David Winning served as the director.

EPISODE 292: This month New York City (and the world) celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, a combative altercation between police and bar patrons at the Stonewall Inn in the West Village, an event that gave rise to the modern LGBT movement. But in a way, the Stonewall Riots were simply the start of a new chapter for the gay rights movement. The road leading to Stonewall is often glossed over or forgotten. By the 1960s, a lively gay scene that traced back to the 19th century -- drag balls! lesbian teahouses! -- had been effectively buried or concealed by decades of cultural and legal oppression. A few brave individuals, however, were tired of living in the shadows. In this episode, we’ll be zeroing in on the efforts of a handful of young New Yorkers who, in 1966, took a page from the civil rights movement to stage an unusual demonstration in a small bar in the West Village. This little event, called the Sip-In at Julius', was a tiny but significant step towards the fair treatment of gay and lesbians in the United States. IN ADDITION: We'll be joined by Hugh Ryan, author of When Brooklyn Was Queer, to talk about the forgotten lives of LGBT people in the ever-changing borough of Brooklyn. Visit our website for photographs and more details -- boweryboyshistory.com This episode features an audio interview clip from the podcast Making Gay History, as well as a musical clip of 'I Hear A Symphony' by The Supremes (Motown). Frightened about slow ticket sales, Madonna has decided that she will tour her new “Madame X” album this fall playing small theaters hoping that the show will end up in New York on Broadway. The simple things that most of us see every day on the street seem strange to Cher – including people talking out loud on their cell phones.
