Michael Phelps BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Fresh headlines and social media chatter over the past week have once again placed Michael Phelps squarely in the public eye, not for a record-breaking swim but for yet another blend of mentorship, business innovation, and enduring impact. Michael Phelps answered a unique call from Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey, who posted a widely shared video on social media with teammates asking for swimming lessons. Not one to turn down the chance to promote water safety, the Olympic legend publicly accepted via Instagram, confirming he'll be visiting Ravens training camp and helping players learn to swim in their new recovery pool. Local tie-ins always amplify his appearances, especially in Baltimore, where Phelps is beloved not just for his Olympic feats but also for his rooting interest in the Ravens and his steady involvement at home games. Answering that call fits the mission of the Michael Phelps Foundation, which has made water-safety education a top post-career priority, directly addressing the startling statistic the Ravens cited that one in three players can't swim, while also earning praise for real community impact as reported by Yahoo Sports.Business-wise, Phelps remains in the financial press as a headline case study in post-athletic reinvention. The newsletter Idée Fixe just highlighted Phelps as an early investor in Unrivalled, a new women's 3x3 basketball league, alongside stars like Coco Gauff and Alex Morgan. This move was showcased as part of a growing trend of world-class athletes using their capital and brand to influence not just sponsorship but the governance and direction of sports infrastructure and media. Phelps' involvement in sports investment and tech platforms like Swim.com, as well as his prominent partnership with Under Armour, continue to set new standards for retired athletes turning their fame into equity and business leadership. As explored in recent business roundups, these active ventures—and his ongoing endorsements—keep him at the front edge of what some call the golden age of athlete-investor entrepreneurship.Social media still regularly references Phelps as the archetype for athlete mental health advocacy, a space where he remains visible. His engagement with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America—a major nonprofit event in Los Angeles this week honored him as a past spokesperson and highlighted his role as a role model for today's youth leaders—keeps the family man and mental health champion squarely in the public sphere, per organizational press releases. From mentoring NFL stars who can't swim to shaping the business side of pro sports and serving as a perennial inspiration at nonprofit galas, the Phelps orbit continues expanding. Each of these moments speaks to a legacy evolving in real time—underscored by a week of positive press, strategic investment headlines, and viral social touches that keep his influence as unsinkable as ever.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Emmy's Gamification of Charity: A Hit or Miss? In a recent podcast episode, the hosts dissect the unconventional charity initiative at the Emmy Awards, where host Nate Bargatze pledged $100,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. The twist: the donation amount would decrease based on the length of celebrity speeches, while shorter speeches would add to the fund. Despite the initial $100,000 dropping by $60,000 due to long speeches, Bargatze and CBS ultimately donated $350,000. The hosts debated the merits of this gamified approach to philanthropy. Critics argue it cheapens the serious work of nonprofits and aligns charity with guilt and shame. Conversely, supporters highlight the significant funds raised and the increased visibility for the Boys and Girls Clubs, as evidenced by a spike in Google searches. They argue that such creative fundraising efforts engage the public and inject fun into philanthropy.

After working in health care and living all over the United States and Europe as a military wife for 20 years, I decided to move back home to North Florida and open a cake bakery in Panama City. It was time to put roots down for my two young daughters and be close to family again. As a local owner and entrepreneur, I wanted to bring a brand with national recognition and appreciation to Bay County. In February 2023, I opened the Nothing Bundt Cakes located in the Hobby Lobby shopping center at Highway 77 and 23rd Street. At Nothing Bundt Cakes, we handcraft Bundt cakes in our local bakery using real ingredients like butter, eggs, and cream cheese. We offer a variety of delicious flavors, such as red velvet, chocolate chocolate chip, and lemon, to name a few. Each cake can be topped with unique cake decorations for an extra special treat. With a wide selection of retail items, including party supplies, décor, and gifts, our bakery is the perfect one-stop celebration shop. The core values of the Nothing Bundt Cakes brand are a servant's heart and the spirit of a champion. We live these core values in our local bakery every day by giving back to our community. We offer fundraising opportunities to local schools, athletic teams, and organizations to help them meet their financial needs. We also partner with organizations, such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay County and Florida Hands & Voices, to give a percentage of our sales back to the community.Owning a new business has been an adventure, but one that I have loved. I am making sweet new memories with my daughters, and being home again in North Florida has been the frosting on the cake.We are open Monday -Saturday 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. and are located at 506 Hawkins Ave, Panama City (Hobby Lobby shopping center). Sam Fowler once began a student body president election speech in sixth grade by saying, “I’d like to demonstrate my greatest skill.” Then, he stood there and said nothing. “Listening. That’s right, listening,” were the next words out of his mouth. Since that time, he’s been listening to people tell their stories… and then encouraging them find ways to participate in stories bigger than themselves. He also has had two complementary careers. First, as a pastor, including starting a non-traditional community of faith through partnership with a NASCAR track; and then for the past 17 years working with Boys & Girls Clubs in Idaho and Arizona. Sam continues to touch lives with the organization that’s roots date back to 1860. They have provided a safe haven for more than 3 million youth, giving them an opportunity to discover their great futures. Beth Graybill and Duane Wilson - Is your spiritual life too spiritual? If the incarnation of Jesus means anything, it's that we don't become holier by being less human. And the abundant life that Jesus came to share with us is one that involves our whole selves as we heal, grow and learn how to flourish. Mike is a lifelong Massachusetts resident, business leader, and father. With nearly two decades of experience in private equity and twelve years devoted to public service, Mike's impressive career includes serving in Governor Baker’s cabinet as Secretary of Housing and Economic Development, as well as turning around the Lawrence Public Schools. Mike has also served as finance chair of the Massachusetts Republican Party and worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston to improve outcomes for youth in some of the state’s most underserved communities. Jennifer and Mike dive into the realities of political leadership in Massachusetts, highlighting what makes New England Republicans unique and contending with the state’s overwhelming Democratic dominance. Mike shares his vision for achieving equal opportunity across Massachusetts, shining a light on entrenched achievement and life expectancy gaps between communities just miles apart. They discuss controversial topics, including the state’s multi-billion dollar migrant crisis, leadership shortcomings in the current administration, and the failure to address root causes of inequity despite progressive rhetoric. Mike contrasts his “coalition-builder” approach with what he sees as Beacon Hill's passivity, emphasizing the urgent need to listen, innovate, and act on behalf of all residents. The conversation challenges sound bite politics and calls for real solutions to ensure Massachusetts isn’t just number one in averages, but in opportunities for every community. “I made a conscious decision when I was 45 that I was going to leave the business world behind and dedicate the rest of my days professionally to public service here in Massachusetts.” ~ Mike Kennealy This week on Political Contessa: The unique identity and priorities of New England Republicans The critical achievement and life expectancy gaps between different Massachusetts communities Mike’s leadership experiences: from private equity to turning around Lawrence Public Schools Failures of the current state leadership to address the crisis and seize the opportunity How Massachusetts loses young people due to unaffordable costs and limited opportunities The state’s costly response to the migrant crisis and its impact on local communities Initiatives to ensure equal educational and workforce opportunities for all residents The importance of coalition-building and listening across party lines Connect with Mike Kennealy: Campaign Website Awaken Your Inner Political Contessa Thanks for tuning into this week’s episode of Political Contessa. Drawing from her own healing journey and background in nonprofit leadership—including her role at Boys & Girls Clubs of America—Jen founded It's Lifey, a retreat and support organization for people navigating major life transitions, especially young widows.Throughout this episode, Jen shares how creating It's Lifey helped her rediscover purpose and connection, and why in-person community is central to healing. She reflects on the unexpected power of writing and storytelling—even as someone who never considered herself a writer—and how simple support, like a weekly text, can mean everything. Her insights remind us that while loss is inevitable, it doesn't have to be faced alone—and that even in deep grief, purpose and joy can be found.Connect with Jen Newberg:WebsiteInstagramLinkedInLet's Connect:WebsiteLinkedInInstagramTwitterPinterestThe Grief and Happiness AllianceBook: Loving and Living Your Way Through Grief Hosted on Acast. I wasn't sure what to expect going into this conversation with Chris Harrison—but I walked away with a deeper respect for a man who's been through a public firestorm and came out of it more grounded, more thoughtful, and more self-aware. For nearly two decades, Chris was the host of The Bachelor—a pop culture staple. But we didn't spend our time rehashing old seasons. Instead, we talked about the real stuff: identity, regret, resilience, and what it means to be publicly misunderstood. Chris opened up about the moment everything changed, how it impacted him personally and professionally, and how he handled the silence that followed. He talked about therapy, fatherhood, the power of taking ownership, and why losing his job may have been one of the best things that ever happened to him. And through it all, there was no bitterness—just clarity. Chris showed up with humility and honesty, and I think you'll hear that right away. This is a conversation about redemption, reinvention, and what happens when the spotlight turns off and you're left with who you really are. Chapters: 00:00 – Intro: First impressions and why this conversation matters 02:00 – Life after The Bachelor and learning to let go 06:00 – The 2021 controversy: what happened, and how he handled it privately 12:30 – The weight of silence: losing his voice in the public square 18:00 – Owning mistakes, navigating cancel culture, and why words matter 24:00 – Therapy, humility, and starting the inner work 30:00 – Rebuilding relationships and letting go of the need to be “right” 36:00 – Fatherhood and how his kids saw it all unfold 42:00 – What he lost—and what he found in the quiet 48:00 – Why he never rushed a comeback 53:00 – Launching The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever and finding his own voice 01:00:00 – The highs and lows of hosting The Bachelor 01:08:00 – Fame, pressure, and identity outside the spotlight 01:15:00 – Manhood, grace, and how his definition of success has changed 01:25:00 – Final reflections: peace, purpose, and what's next Check out LifeRX.MD Code: STEELE About Sage: Sage Steele is a longtime national TV broadcaster and current host of The Sage Steele Show on YouTube and all podcast platforms.
