Bettie Page (1923-2008) was an early and iconic pin-up model. Working primarily with underground photographers and later featured in the earliest editions of Playboy magazine, Bettie, with her trademark bangs, became a sensation. After government anti-obscenity investigations, she largely retired from the public eye and became a devout Christian. Years later, she gained cult status in pop culture, and her photos remain in circulation today. Filmmaker Dustin Ferguson and pinup model Tamera Von Tart joined Mark In studio for a terrific show featuring 2 people who followed and are living their dreams Dustin is from Nebraska and started out making fanedits of horror classics such as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies (and agrees with Mark that TCM: The Next Generation is an underrated classic). He soon began making videos for industrial bands such as KMFDM, Lords of Acid and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult and shooting his own movies such as Meathook Massacre, Horndog Beach Party and his biggest film Nemesis 5, which inspired his move to LA. He hasn't stopped, filming an average of 8 movies a year including the upcoming Robowoman and Killer Tomatoes reboot as well as pursuing his rap career as Dirty D. which has also caused a lot of controversy and discussion. Tamera grew up in Florida and was inspired by the timeless and somewhat naughty fashion of Bettie Page and, despite being a single mother, pursued her dreams of being a pinup model. The road went through Washington, where her tattoos surprisingly weren't well received and Hot Topic, where she was chastised for being too bright, then ending up living in a pink house and hosting shoots for such luminaries as Masuimi Max. She also became a regular at the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Festival and on magazines and websites worldwide.

The Rocketeer "Using the stolen rocket-pack for the first time, racing pilot Cliff Secord has taken to the skies - in a desperate bid to save the life of a fellow flyer!" - from the opening of chapter 2, on page 19 That breathless style of narration and the accompanying first-rate illustrations (to wit: just look at that striking action hero pose adorning the cover . . . which is incredibly misleading, because his pistol-packing scenes last for a single scant page) ought to help in making The Rocketeer - possibly best remembered these days from the very good 1991 live-action film version by Disney, done in the vein of the Indiana Jones series - a sky-blazing success. However, I was disappointed by this book - it's one of those rare cases where the movie inspired by it is much better! The titular character is a dork who usually lucks into being heroic rather than, you know, actually being solid hero material. The two stories were subpar (they were supposed to be connected, but the second one confusingly heads off in another direction after an obligatory origin tale) and the so-called humor seemed forced most of the time. The sole saving grace? Said 'hero's girlfriend was drawn to resemble the real-life pin-up queen Bettie Page.
