Join us in this compelling chat with Stewmac Stuart McMillen as he takes us back to the catastrophic 1993 flood, the most significant in U.S. history, and its profound impact on the Missouri region, specifically Kimmswick. Stewmac recounts the incredible efforts of the Army Corps of Engineers and the National Guard in constructing a 50-foot levee that held back the surging waters, saving the town from destruction. He also shares the harrowing tale of the Cliff Cave tragedy, where a 13-year-old survivor clung to life for 18 hours within the cave's depths. Drawing from his own memories as a young child during the disaster, Stewmac highlights the resilience of the community in the face of adversity.

Christianity is based on faith in Jesus and the factual, historical events of His life, death, and resurrection. Because of eyewitness reports, we can know these things really happened in time and space. Without the historical resurrection of Jesus Christ, Christianity would be nothing but fairy tales. It would be nothing more than humanity's attempt to explain reality..When Jesus died on the cross, the Pharisees and the High Priest knew of Jesus's claim that He would rise from the dead. They were afraid His disciples would steal the body and tell people that Jesus had resurrected. If that happened, everyone would follow Jesus instead of their teachings. So the Pharisees asked Pilate to secure Jesus's tomb. Pilate gave them a Roman guard unit—soldiers from the best trained military force in the world at that time. If any of these guards fell asleep at their post, they would be executed. The Roman officials also put a seal on Jesus's tomb. If this seal was broken, the penalty was death. Nobody would dare break a Roman seal..So, when Jesus did rise from the dead, this was a problem for the Pharisees. They worried that His followers would tell everyone about it. So they came up with a plan: they would say the disciples stole Jesus's body..Yes, they would tell people that the disciples came and overpowered the best trained military force in the world, broke the Roman seal—risking the penalty of death—and stole Jesus's body. People from that area knew how foolish this story was. Besides, when Jesus died, His disciples thought their Messiah had failed and got Himself killed. They didn't understand that He would rise from the dead, even though Jesus had told them about it beforehand. All hope in Jesus died when they saw Him on the cross. Why would they steal a dead body?.The truth of the resurrection was apparent to the thousands of people who became Christians soon after this event (Acts 2:41; 4:4). Now we, too, can trust in the factual, historical account of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And because of His resurrection, we can trust that He will raise us from the dead at His return, and all His people will live forever in His loving presence in renewed creation. • Doug Velting.• What questions do you have about Jesus's resurrection? Who are trusted Christians in your life you could bring these questions to? .But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died. 1 Corinthians 15:20 (NLT)

The Marches were ignited by the Death of SCLC local Jimmie Lee JacksonWhat did Jimmie Lee Jackson accomplish?Jimmie Lee Jackson, was a Vietnam veteran, Baptist deacon, activist and martyr of the Civil Rights Movement. Jackson, active in the fight for equal rights, had tried multiple times to register to vote in Alabama and was denied each time. When Jimmie Lee Jackson saw his frail 80-year-old grandfather rudely turned away from the registrar's office in 1962 after attempting to register to vote in Marion, Ala., the young man became angry. He knew he had to join the civil rights movement. On Feb. 18, 1965, he was among more than 200 people participating in a night march in Marion. Before they had walked a block, they were confronted by state troopers and the police chief, who ordered them to disperse. The marchers halted at the chief's order, and suddenly all the streetlights on the square went out. A black minister at the head of the march knelt to pray and was struck on the head by a trooper. Other troopers began swinging their clubs, and the marchers panicked, running for cover.Jackson and his mother huddled for safety in a café. When Jackson's grandfather entered the café bloodied and beaten, the young man tried to take him to a hospital. But they were quickly shoved back by a crowd of club-swinging troopers and terrified marchers. The troopers began knocking out the café lights with their clubs and beating people. Jackson saw a trooper strike his mother, and he lunged for the man. He was clubbed across the face and slammed him into a cigarette machine. Another trooper pulled his pistol and shot Jackson in the stomach. It was two hours before Jackson arrived at the hospital in Selma. He died eight days later.Forty-five years later, former trooper James Bonard Fowler pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of second-degree manslaughter. He was sentenced to six months in jail but was released early due to poor health. Fowler claimed he shot Jackson in self-defense.At one of two services for Jackson, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. told a crowd of 2,000: “Jimmie Lee Jackson's death says to us that we must work passionately and unrelentingly to make the American dream a reality. His death must prove that unmerited suffering does not go unredeemed.”© 2023 Building Abundant Success!!2023 All Rights ReservedJoin Me on ~ iHeart Media @ https://tinyurl.com/iHeartBASSpot Me on Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/yxuy23baAmazon Music ~ https://tinyurl.com/AmzBASAudacy: https://tinyurl.com/BASAud

This week’s episode is a DBG from October 5th, 1996 which I’ve titled, “Age-vantages.” Tom Howie was producing. We begin with quite the intro for Jack Harte from Norm. Norm laments the transitions of the season but because he is a doctor, please take off everything and he will only look at you in a medical manner. Jack believes it all starts with windows going from opened to closed and that brings on general malaise. There’s some Kyrie and Bobo talk (Norm’s Newfoundland dogs). We are informed that people walk all over Norm because he’s too good of a person and Jack wastes no time requesting Norm’s help with something. The subject of growing old comes up along with it’s advantages and disadvantages. We get some incredible wisdom and insight from a stupid guy Norm knew and everyone’s favorite HGPG. The Players: Jack Harte Mike from Marlborough Joanne from Everett Charlie in Malden And Betty from Sudbury During the introductions we venture into the “what exactly is middle age” territory and what age was it hardest to turn. The Birthdays: Bill Dana Glynis Johns Karen Allen Donald Pleasance…no, wait… Steve Miller Sir Bob Geldof Diane Cilento, Sean Connery’s ex-wife…on second thought Some Dead Bdays: Chester A. Arthur Ray Crock And Alan Ludden The game ends with an Historic Event question: In what year was The World Series first broadcast on radio? Other highlights: Joanne hearing static and another station on the line. Norm says turn it up it’s probably a lot better than this. Newfoundland dogs help everything. Norm was not a hunk. Norm’s friend, Sydney Gelpi (sp?), had his own room with pin-up pix on the walls. Mike needs socks. WBZ is older than Norm. Norm remains terribly behind in sending out prizes but in the end, it doesn’t matter because it’s all junk. Norm’s father describing the younger Norm. And Jack was at a charity function that his fine lady, Moneen was hosting where a 25-piece Big Band and singer Toni Ballard were performing. Let’s get the candles lit on Episode 107, “Age-vantages”…now.
