Wenn du dich sicher eingebettet fühlst, kannst du dich wirklich zeigen, ohne Maske, ohne Beweisen, ohne permanenten Druck. Probier es aus: Nimm dir vor dem nächsten Meeting 30 Sekunden. Atme dreimal tief durch und frag dich: Bin ich heute Stressverstärker oder Stabilität? It is the same story in different packaging, and it has been going on since your grandmother was worried about her waist size. Veränderung ist eines der wichtigsten Dinge in unserem Leben. Veränderung passiert ständig, ob wir wollen oder nicht. Deshalb dürfen wir lernen, bewusst in die Veränderung zu gehen. Für mich bedeutet das: testen, testen, testen. Neue Wege ausprobieren, neue Werkzeuge nutzen und offen bleiben für das, was kommt. Aktuell teste ich beispielsweise Riverside und vergleiche es mit Zoom. Ob es besser ist? Das wird sich zeigen. Wichtig ist nicht, ob etwas sofort perfekt funktioniert. Wichtig ist, dass wir bereit sind, es auszuprobieren. Denn eines habe ich in den letzten Jahrzehnten gelernt: Wer nicht mit der Zeit geht, geht mit der Zeit. Deshalb hinterfrage ich ständig: Ist das noch gut? Ist das noch zeitgemäß? Gibt es einen besseren Weg? Natürlich ist Veränderung nicht immer bequem. Manchmal ist sie anstrengend, manchmal frustrierend. Aber genau dort findet Wachstum statt. Ich erinnere mich noch an die Anfänge von Facebook. Wer damals früh eingestiegen ist, hatte enorme Möglichkeiten. Genau deshalb lohnt es sich, neue Entwicklungen nicht zu ignorieren. Du musst nicht auf jeden Trend aufspringen. Aber du solltest wissen, was möglich ist und welche Werkzeuge dir helfen können, einfacher, schneller und erfolgreicher zu werden. Manchmal denke ich auch: „Bin ich schon zu alt für den ganzen technischen Wandel?" Doch dann erinnere ich mich daran, dass ich etwas habe, das viele Jüngere noch nicht besitzen: 50 Jahre Business-Erfahrung. Wenn Erfahrung und moderne Technik zusammenkommen, entsteht etwas Großartiges. Deshalb meine Frage an dich: Wo blühst du auf? Was möchtest du lernen? Was möchtest du verändern? Bleibe neugierig. Bleibe flexibel. Bleibe offen für Neues. Und vor allem: Versuche nicht alles auf einmal zu schaffen. Arbeite Schritt für Schritt. Wie bei einer Salami, Scheibe für Scheibe. So kommst du zuverlässig ans Ziel. Según estas previsiones de los comerciantes de cereal, la producción nacional de cereales de otoño-invierno se situaría en torno a los 15 millones de toneladas, lo que supondría un descenso del 28% respecto a la abundante cosecha registrada en la campaña anterior, cuando se alcanzaron los 21,6 Mt en el conjunto de España. Dan uses that story to kick off a practical, no-nonsense guide to dealing with dead animal odors in your home.How bad will it be — and how long will it last? Size of the animal, temperature, humidity, and airflow all determine severity and duration. The rough timeline:Mouse: a few days to about a weekRat or squirrel: a couple of weeksPossum, raccoon, or larger: several weeks — potentially up to two months in a warm, damp, enclosed spaceHow to find the source:Use your nose. Walk slowly, close doors to isolate rooms, and track where the smell intensifies.Check near outlets, baseboards, vents, attic hatches, crawl space doors, and under stairs.Let your pets help — a dog or cat obsessively sniffing one spot is a clue worth following.Watch for blowflies. Large, metallic-looking flies congregating indoors often indicate a nearby carcass. Follow them.Note: the smell often seems to come from vents, but pest pros say the animal is almost never inside the ductwork — it's usually in a wall or attic space near a duct run. The HVAC is just moving the odor around.Once you've found it — how to remove it safely:Wear gloves and a mask, especially in enclosed spaces.Get air moving before you start: open windows, run a fan.Do not sweep or vacuum rodent droppings — that stirs particles into the air and can spread disease. Instead, spray droppings with a disinfectant or a 1:10 bleach-and-water solution, let it soak 5–10 minutes, then wipe with paper towels and mop the area again.Double-bag the carcass and dispose of it per your local regulations.What happens after removal depends on the surface:Hard, non-porous surfaces (concrete, metal, vinyl): Clean promptly, ventilate well, and the smell usually clears quickly.Porous materials (insulation, carpet pad, unfinished wood, drywall, ceiling tile): Decomposition fluids soak in and the smell can linger — or seem to come back on humid days — long after the animal is gone. In these cases, remove the contaminated material, clean with disinfectant, and then apply an enzymatic cleaner to break down any remaining organic residue at the molecular level. This is the step that eliminates the odor rather than masking it.If you can't find or access the source: The intense phase will eventually pass on its own as the carcass dries out. While you wait:Activated charcoal bags — place them as close to the affected area as possible. They trap odor molecules physically rather than adding a scent. Recharge them in sunlight every couple of weeks. Available at most stores for around $10–15 for a multi-pack.Foaming enzymatic cleaners (like BAC-A-Zap) — drill a small hole into the wall cavity, inject the foam, and the enzymes go to work on organic material from the inside. Available online or through pest control suppliers.Use both together for best results — but be honest with yourself: if fluids have soaked into porous materials inside that wall, you may eventually need to open it up.The final step — odor-blocking primer: Once the source is removed and the area is clean and dry, if you're still worried about lingering odor, you can seal hard surfaces with a shellac-based odor-blocking primer like BIN. Important: this is the last step — a lock on a problem already solved — not a first response.Two things worth knowing:Not every mystery smell is a dead animal. Propane and natural gas have a chemical odorant added to them that some people experience as a decay or skunk smell rather than the classic "rotten egg" description. If you can't find a source, the smell isn't fading, or it has a sharp chemical edge, leave the area and call your gas company.The "poison makes them leave the house" idea is a myth. Rodent poisons do not cause mice or rats to go outside searching for water, and they don't dry out the body to eliminate odor. The rodent eats the bait, gets sick over several days, and dies wherever it happens to be — usually inside a wall, under insulation, or behind an appliance. This is one of the reasons pest professionals often recommend snap traps inside the home instead of poison: you know exactly where the animal is.Prevention — sealing entry points:Inspect the exterior of your home for gaps and holes.For small openings: skip foam or caulk alone — rodents chew right through it. Pack the gap first with copper or stainless steel mesh, then seal over it with exterior-grade caulk or pest-blocking foam.For larger openings: use hardware cloth, metal flashing, or other chew-resistant materials.Check chimney caps, vent screens, damaged soffits, loose siding, and gaps around pipes and utility lines.Go into your garage, close the door, turn off the lights. If you can see daylight around the door frame big enough to fit a dime, that's a mouse entry point.Segment 2: Art Deco at Home — A Practical Guide [19:25]Last week Dan covered the history and origins of Art Deco. This week he makes it practical: how do you actually bring Art Deco into a real home without making the space feel like a 1920s movie set?The good news: Art Deco translates surprisingly well into modern interiors — especially when you borrow selectively. You don't need to go all in. Borrowing a few core principles can give any room more elegance, confidence, and visual impact.Three core ingredients of an Art Deco-inspired room:Shape — Art Deco loves geometry, clear lines, and repeated patterns. Think: a mirror with a stepped frame, wallpaper with a fan or geometric motif, a rug with bold linear structure, a light fixture with globes and symmetry, a vanity with fluted details, or a cabinet with curved corners and brass pulls. It's a structured style — not casual.Contrast — Art Deco works best when there's tension in the room: light against dark, gloss against matte, soft upholstery against hard metal, cream walls against black trim, jewel tones against warm metallic finishes.Sheen — Art Deco has always had an affinity for surfaces that reflect light: lacquer, mirrored materials, polished metal, glass, smooth stone, sleek tile. Even if your paint color is quiet and reserved, bumping up the sheen can push a room toward an Art Deco feel without committing to bolder colors.Color: Art Deco isn't just black and gold (though black, ivory, brass, and chrome is certainly one classic palette). The U.S. Forest Service swapped 2,400 acres of lands last month with Resolution Copper that included an Apache holy site called Oak Flat. Now, an Arizona organization is challenging that decision. KJZZ's Gabriel Pietrorazio has the latest. Resolution Copper told KJZZ that courts at every level have consistently ruled in the mining company's favor, adding “it is time for the meritless litigation to end”. Becket Fund senior counsel Luke Goodrich disagrees. “This litigation is far from over. It's really just getting started.” That is why his D.C. religious liberty firm filed a 41-page plea on Earth Day on behalf of the nonprofit Apache Stronghold. They are asking Arizona's federal district court to essentially undo this congressionally approved land exchange, claiming the U-S has violated federal laws and even an 1852 treaty. Goodrich says there is even legal precedent to back them up. “The courts, if they find that transfer is unlawful, can unwind the transfer and require the parties restore the land to its pristine state.” (Photo: Theo Greenly / KUCB) Unalaskans got a chance to learn about the island's only recycling program Tuesday, as part of Earth Day celebrations this week. Most of what the Qawalangin Tribe of Unalaska collects gets shipped out, but not the glass. KUCB's Sofia Stuart-Rasi has more on how used glass bottles could be put to use on island, over and over again. “Thank you all for joining us today.” Shenoy Anderson is standing in a conference room, walking community members through a PowerPoint presentation about recycling called “Bin to beyond”. “And recycling is a process of gathering and processing materials to create new products.” Anderson is the environmental director for the tribe. The tribe started their recycling program in 2024, collecting glass, number one plastic, aluminum, and cardboard. It is Unalaska’s only recycling program. Most of the recyclables get shipped out in containers to the Tacoma, Wash. area through a partnership with the barge company Matson, but glass is heavy and takes up too much space. So rather than see it go to waste, the tribe recycles it in house. “I got to take off all the plastic and, the metal off the bottles. That takes up most of the time.” That iss John Gustafson. He is the tribe’s recycling and facilities manager. He sorts the glass and runs the crusher machine, processing bottles into material used for sandbags and winter road traction for the island. That is cheaper than sending it out of town. When sorting glass, Gustafson has one hard rule. Bottles with food residue do not make the cut. Food residue and recycling can contaminate entire batches of material and can cause costly damage to equipment. “Like spaghetti sauce, Alfredo, and stuff like that. People don’t think to rinse it first.” As of now, the tribe has about 6,000 pounds of crushed glass stored. That is roughly 2 years’ worth, but Gustafson says there is room to grow in the future. “It’s just me and can only, you know, handle so much at a time. But eventually we want to upgrade all of our equipment and everything and we’ll spread the news to the whole community. It’ll be even busier.” Anderson says the tribe hopes to have the new equipment ready within the year and potentially recycle the glass into other materials for art, construction, and landscaping. She says once it is up and running, they plan to collect recyclable glass beyond an Alaska. “Our goal is to be a hub.” For now, community members can drop off recyclables at the Cowlingan Tribe’s office.
