Our hosts, Erik, Jeff, and Dave, spoke with André, the other week during his training for his newest endeavor: to  explore human potential as him and his team cross continents - from the lowest point to highest summit, starting with South America. But André's story began in 2003 when, as a 23 year old student in Prague, he wound up on the tracks in front of an oncoming subway train. His injuries required both of his legs to be amputated above the knee. After his recovery he still returned to Prague to resume his studies, but it was a long road to recovery - both physically and emotionally. He wrestled with his inner demons and the choices he made that had led him to be in this situation. He speaks in depth about the mindset and steps it took to bring him to where is today in his athletic achievements. André’s journey taught him that he is always capable of more. In 2010 he became an ultra endurance pioneer, a Team USA Paratriethlete, an Ironman World Champion, and the only wheelchair athlete to finish an Ultraman Triathlon. Then, in 2017, he finished the Race Across America, hand-cycling 3,100 miles in just 12 days, sleeping 90 minutes a night to make it from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, Maryland. Now, despite his tragic accident, André is a renowned speaker and incredible athlete breaking world records. Now, along with his teammates, he is setting off for Southern Patagonia at Laguna del Carbón, the lowest point in the western and southern hemispheres to ride 1,800 miles over gravel, road, and mountain passes to Aconcagua National park. They will trek in and climb up the 22,841 ft. peak, the highest summit outside of the Himalaya.Follow his South American journey on Instagram: @LowestHighest Learn more about André and his past and current adventures here.Check out the trailer for his upcoming film, Joyrider, here.

Succeeding despite your obstacles. In 2003, Andre Kajlich was a charismatic 23 year old student attending his father’s alma mater in the city of Prague. One night, partying with friends into the early hours, he wound up on the tracks in front of an oncoming subway train. His devastating injuries required that both legs be amputated above the knees, and after three weeks in a medically induced coma, he awoke to an insanely altered reality. He has become an ultra endurance pioneer, a world champion paratriathlete, an Ironman World Champion, and the only wheelchair athlete to finish an Ultraman Triathlon (he’s done four: Hawaii, Australia, Canada, and Israel). He finished the Race Across America, handcycling 3,100 miles in just 12 days, sleeping 90 minutes a night to make it from Oceanside, CA to Annapolis, MD. During the Brazil135 UltraMarathon, André completed 135 miles through jungle terrain in 62 hours, sometimes crawling along the forest dragging his wheelchair behind him. He was not only the first person in a wheelchair to finish these, he was the first to even attempt them. He is without question, an inspiration. Let's connect: Website | Facebook | Twitter About Your Host Jim Harshaw My name is Jim Harshaw. And I know where you’re at. You’re working hard and qualified for what you do but you aren’t getting what you want. You have plans on getting to the C-suite or launching a business but ultimate success seems as far away today as ever. You’re in the right place because you can get there from here. And I can help. Who I Am I’m a speaker, coach, and former Division I All-American wrestler that helps motivated former athletes to reach their full potential by getting clarity on what they really want and taking aggressive action to lead their ideal life not just despite their prior failures but because of them. I’m a husband and father of four. And I’m a serial entrepreneur. I’ve launched multiple successful businesses as well as the obligatory failed one. I’ve been the executive director of a non-profit and have raised millions of dollars. I’ve worked in sales. I’ve even been a Division I head coach. While I was born in a blue-collar home I have spent my life surrounded by Olympians, CEO’s and millionaires. Jim Rohn said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” I’ve been lucky. I’ve learned the habits of successful people and guess what. You’re just like them. I know because I know your type. You’re programmed for hard work, which is a prerequisite for success, but you’ve never been shown how to use what you know to create the life you want with the tools you have. I will show you how. Why You Are Here You've worked hard to achieve greatness. You’ve set goals and maybe even set records. You’ve definitely failed and you’ve at some point found yourself questioning if you were on the right track. You need to understand this: You are far more prepared to succeed than those who’ve not tried, competed, struggled and overcome like you have. That’s the value of your education as someone who aims high. You are prepared to be as successful as your wildest dreams will allow. Here I will teach you, with the help of brilliant minds that have been shaped by failure, struggle, and adversity, to be who you want to be. I sense that you want this because you have read this far. In 2003, Andre Kajlich was a charismatic, handsome, 23 year old American student attending his father's alma mater in the city of Prague. On the night of December 6th, he went out partying with friends, and in the early hours mysteriously wound up on the tracks of an oncoming subway train. The conductor could not stop. His devastating injuries required that both legs be amputated above the knees, and after three weeks in a coma, he awoke to an insanely altered reality. Doctors told him that because of the severity of his limb loss, walking with prosthetics would not be possible and he'd spend the rest of his life wheelchair bound. Andre had other plans. Today, he walks in his prosthetics with the use of a cane. He is a world champion endurance athlete. He has taken on some of the world's most difficult endurance competitions, many of which have never been completed by a challenged athlete. Ten years later, Kajlich is a world-class paratriathlete and ultraendurance wheelchair racer who considers himself lucky: "Not because I survived getting run over. It just feels like my life so far has been pretty cool." This is a quote from his website!
