Trade Deadline has come and gone and we're breaking down the winners and losers today on the pod. The Winners: The Knicks get Bojan Bogdanović in a pretty genius move that'll undoubtedly make their rising team even better; Dallas gets PJ Washington from the Hornets, which we think is EXACTLY what they needed; OKC gets Gordon Hayward and doesn't have to lose much at all. The Losers: Pat Bev to the Bucks?? The Grizzlies offloading Steven Adams?? The Raptors ditching Dennis Schröder?? And somehow the Bulls, Warriors, Lakers, and Hawks did pretty much nothing. Stick around for Hot Streak/Shooting Slump!
The Dallas Mavericks didn't have Luka Doncic but Kyrie Irving, Tim Hardaway Jr, and the Mavs found a way to beat Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, and the New York Knicks. Hour 4: The legend Joe Benigno joins us in the studio before his own show today. They discuss Jets games they've seen through the years. Joe begs the Jets to get into the playoffs and seems confident in their defense for the last two games against the Seahawks and Dolphins. Sal is less keyed up about them. Joe does like some of Joe Douglas' draft picks even though Zach Wilson has not panned out. Mike White has to show something for them to win but the QB situation next year is still in question. They also criticize the Jets coaching. In the end, if they don't get in this year they have to do it next year for sure. C-Lo joins us for one more time this year. Audio of Mike Breen's exciting call from the end of Q4 of Knicks/Mavs. A discussion of Tik Tok & YouTube, how people make millions putting up videos there and whether Sal should do vids featuring his dog. Tom Thibodeau audio after the Knicks loss. Luka Doncic being told he set a record. Nets will go for ten wins in a row. Sam Rosen calling end of Rangers loss to Caps. C-Lo complains about NY Rangers ticket prices and availability. Shoutout to U.S. National Team in the World Juniors. Denver Broncos fire Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett. In the final segment, they discuss a family driving across the country from Phoenix to Boston to see the Winter Classic because of the flight cancellations. They also discuss how road trips aren't as fun as they used to be.
Hour 1: Jerry and Sal begin their Wednesday morning show by discussing the Knicks' last-minute collapse. Sal doesn't find it as crushing as many Knicks fans do because the team isn't very good to begin with. They discuss getting older and how some athletes are able to play at a high level at an advanced age. CLo is back for the last time this week and begins with the Knicks blowing a 9 point lead in the final minute against the Mavericks. Tom Thibodeau can't believe what happened. Jerry and Sal don't love what the NBA is now and compare it to scores from the 90s. The Rangers struggled in their return from the holiday break while the Islanders cruised. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry discusses a college basketball broadcast later tonight that will have the coaches mic'd up. He thinks this is where a lot of broadcasts, especially baseball, are headed. It leads Jerry to remember a time he brought Sal to call a game with low attendance. Everyone, including the coaches (and one of them was Dan Hurley) could hear Sal's criticisms. Hurley was not happy. Hour 2: Hour two begins with Sal and Jerry getting an answer about halftime adjustments before talking about Carlos Correa. Sal says there is no negative here, Steve Cohen did not make a mistake and he still thinks Correa ultimately signs with the Mets. CLo returns for an update and begins with the Knicks' historic collapse against Luka Doncic and the Mavs. Sal thinks the Nets are winning a championship this season. We are spoiled with radio and TV broadcast teams here in New York. The Rangers were shutout by the Capitals and the Islanders topped the Penguins. Sal loves Gerard Gallant and wants to hear him mic'd up during a game. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry wants everyone to see a bad logo that surprised him on TV and remembers how young Zach Wilson really is. Hour 3: Hour 3 begins with Jerry and Sal looking ahead to week 17. Jerry likes how some Giants players are being honest about the importance of this Sunday's game and Sal thinks they will easily beat the Colts. If they somehow don't, it could ruin all of the good feelings from this season. CLo returns for an update and before he starts, the guys ponder week 18 flex possibilities. The Knicks were done in by Luka Doncic, who authored one of the greatest individual games in NBA history. Younger Knicks fans frustrate Sal. The Commanders are returning to Carson Wentz at QB. Jerry sees having a good record in close games as a positive, not a negative. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry and Sal discuss how fan behavior is getting more and more disgusting after someone sent an awful message to Dak Prescott on social media.
