Health plans serving dually eligible beneficiaries can play a key role in facilitating access to and educating members on the importance of influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters. Jay Warren Teamer is an Omaha native who has spent her personal and professional life serving our community. In August 2020, she was appointed as the inaugural Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, where she drives the diversity, equity and inclusion strategy for the company and also oversees the company's corporate social responsibility and wellness efforts. In our conversation, Jay shares how she came into the new role, how her personal experiences inform her professional endeavors, and how her larger family context shaped who she is today and aspires to be tomorrow. Jay has worked in the non-profit/philanthropic sector for the last ten years, with previous roles at Partnership 4 Kids, United Way of the Midlands, and Mutual of Omaha. With her childhood friend, Ashlei Spivey, Jay co-founded I Be Black Girl and leads the groups' giving circle, IBBGives. As a highly engaged community advocate, Jay has served on numerous nonprofit boards and been honored with several community awards. As well as being an old-school R&B aficionado, Jay's greatest joy is her family.

This is a big one. Michael Parkhurst's list of accomplishments is a long one - it's one that spans an excellent MLS career (New England Revolution, Columbus Crew, Atlanta United), includes time spent playing in Europe in Denmark's top flight (FC Nordsjaelland) and highlighted by a strong stint with the U.S. Men's National Team. But today, he joins us as a newly announced owner for USL Rhode Island and of course, as a supporter of our mini-pitch project in Central Falls, Rhode Island. We'll discuss all sorts of good stuff, including the lead up to his extensive professional career, which saw Parkhurst grow up playing in Rhode Island prior to leaving for Bradenton, FL for his high school years and eventually going on to play collegiately for Wake Forest University. Throughout the years, he has volunteered for Project GOAL and was even twice-named MLS Humanitarian of the Year.  As you know may remember, participation in Project GOAL is a common theme of our Rhode Island mini-pitch project, as other mentors of the program include Jeff Larentowicz, currently of Atlanta United and formerly of the New England Revolution and Brown University, Providence College star Julian Gressel, currently of D.C.
