In this episode we discuss the recent report from Marc Stein that the New York Knicks are interested in hiring Jason Kidd to succeed Tom Thibodeau as their next head coach. We all agree it's unlikely that happens due to a variety of factors, namely the fact that he is under contract for another two seasons. After the Mavericks won the draft lottery and the right to select Cooper Flagg, Kidd seems excited and energized to be able to coach another generation prospect. We also debate whether we want Kidd to continue as head coach. Ultimately, no matter how you feel about Kidd, the Knicks being interested in him validates his status in the league as a desired commodity. We then talk about the trade value of several Mavs veterans: PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson, Max Christie, and Naji Marshall. We gauge whether any of them can fetch the Mavs a 1st round pick in a trade and how likely they are to be traded this summer. This is a public episode. After defying their 1.8% odds in the lottery, the Dallas Mavericks plan on selecting Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft next month, according to multiple reports. What do they do with Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington, who are both on expiring contracts heading into next season? What point-guard options are available for Dallas until Kyrie Irving returns from his ACL injury sometime after New Year's? We discuss all these topics at length on today's episode!

The Dallas Mavericks beat the Toronto Raptors 125-118 behind a combined 79 points from Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson on Saturday night. After leading by 24 points, the Mavs let the Raptors make things interesting in the fourth quarter, but they still held on for their seventh consecutive win and 11th win in 12 games. Other topics in this episode include: O-Max Prosper showing why he needs to take Maxi Kleber's spot in head coach Jason Kidd's rotation, PJ Washington having a bad shooting game before playing against his favorite opponent, the OKC Thunder, and the Mavs looking like the title contender we all thought they'd be during the summer. Despite being down by 15 points at the start of the fourth quarter, the Dallas Mavericks rallied to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies, 121-116. Dallas improved to 14-8 and jumped to No. 3 in the Western Conference standings. Luka Doncic led the way for the Mavs with 37 points, but Spencer Dinwiddie and PJ Washington provided late-game heroics that help put the game away for good. Considering that the Mavs committed a season-high 25 turnovers and missed 14 free throws, this win over the Grizzlies is the most satisfying one of the season so far. Let's talk about it! We recorded this episode following the Mavs' wild 121-116 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. In this episode we discuss the Mavs' recent stretch of 9 wins in 10 games, weathering the absence of Luka Dončić among other players. We discus how Spencer Dinwiddie, Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, and PJ Washington have all stepped up in the last few weeks to help the Mavs find a new identity and start putting together wins. We talk about how much deeper this Mavs team is in recent years, and how for the fist time in the Luka Dončić era, the Mavs have a team that can be a force in the regular season.
Despite not having Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall and Dereck Lively II, the Dallas Mavericks pulled out a big road win against a red-hot Portland Trail Blazers team on a second night of a back-to-back. Dallas has now won eight of its last nine games with a favorable schedule coming up. Let's talk about it! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Despite not having Luka Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks (9-7) upset Nikola Jokic's Denver Nuggets (8-6) in the Mile High City, 123-120. Naji Marshall scored a career-high 26 points off the bench, PJ Washington helped the Mavs eliminate a five-point deficit with three minutes remaining, and Kyrie Irving, despite shooting just 7-19 from the floor, did a great job managing the game and making sure his teammates were comfortable. We talk about what went wrong during the losing streak, and what has improved since to turn things around. We talk about the impressive victory on the road against OKC, which the Mavs played without Luka Dončić. We discuss PJ Washington's return to the lineup and the positive impact it has had on defense and rebounding. Finally, we talk about how the Mavs' rotation has evolved over the season's first 15 games, and debate how it may change going forward.
The Dallas Mavericks outlasted the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night, 121-119, to complete a sweep of a back-to-back. Most impressively, they did so without Luka Doncic playing. PJ Washington and Kyrie Irving were fantastic, and the Mavs got balanced scoring from their bench en route to the big win. Drew Johnson assumes the role of lead host in this episode to break down everything that happened. Thanks for listening! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Reese and Bibs recap the Mavs' past week of games, fresh off the win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Mavericks currently sit at 7-7 which puts them 10th in the West. This week they played a game without Luka and a game without Kyrie while getting back Maxi, Lively, and PJ Washington. Along with these developments, Quentin Grimes went from a DNP to a week with multiple starts, Lively moved into the starting lineup ahead of Daniel Gafford, and the NBA Cup tipped off. We had a lot of Mavs to talk to, so we saved the TV talk until the very end. Enjoy You can always find Bibs on X/Twitter @Bibscorner, Bluesky @Bibscorner.bsky.social, and Instagram @MBibs.
