Host, Julie Marty-Pearson, often says our pets find us, and that isn't truer than for guest Tenny Minassian. Tenny's adopted canine companion, Lucy, inspired not only a profound personal transformation but also a children's book, "Lucy Goes to the Gentle Barn." Her tale is one of convincing traditional parents to open their home to a family pet, leading to an adventure of love and life lessons that resonate with any heart that has felt the warmth of a furry friend. Lucy's tripe to real-world sanctuary The Gentle Barn, illustrates many important lessons we can all learn from animals. What begins with the adoption of a pet often leads to unexpected personal revelations. For Tenny, it was the inspiration to embrace a vegan lifestyle. Walking through her transformation and the role of a vegan coach, she offers insights into the challenges and rewards of a plant-based life, from giving up cheese to navigating new ethical choices. Touching on mental health, societal pressures, and the readiness for change, the conversation underscores the profound impact of pet adoption on personal growth and the broader choice to rescue over breeding. Join us for an episode that promises laughter, inspiration, and an invitation to live more consciously with kindness at its heart.Tenny Minassian is a vegan lifestyle coach and author based in Los Angeles. She's an Armenian-American and came to the U.S. as a refugee with her family from Iran. Her favorite role is being Lucy's dog-mom and going on adventures together! What is that on the horizon - well, it's Spring of course. The klaxon for warmer, longer days is finally sounding and Head Gardeners Saul and Lucy are looking forward to it immensely. Spring is a wonderful time of year but also incredibly busy for all professional gardeners up and down the country as the gardens come alive with colour, texture and the occasional weed! Join them both as they navigate this beautiful time of year, bringing you the sights and sounds of Stonelands and East Donyland, as well as their home gardens and beyond. With Saul taking a well deserved rest, Lucy delves into her past to explain why she is such a keen horticulturist. Now retired, her smallholder parents had a massive influence on her career choice. Their horticultural heritage also sheds light on a fascinating collective of market gardeners who, between them at their peak, produced 50 per cent of the UK's glasshouse salads. Termed the 'Land Settlement Agency', it brought many happy times for Lucy and her parents, as hopefully the interviews confirm (apologies to those two asparagus customers!!).If you'd like to watch the video I mention in this episode, follow this link, or search for 'Growth with the LSA':https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmvyX3RWv4QTwitter links:Lucy @HeadGardenerLCSaul @GardeningSaulIntro and Outro music from https://filmmusic.io"Fireflies and Stardust" by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.com)License: CC BY (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Support the showSupport the show
“Lucy Goes to Scotland” (January 6, 1956) It's our second I Love Lucy episode and also our second “It was all a dream!” installment of Weirdest Episode Ever. So what is to be made of a dream sequence where Lucy Ricardo is ultimately fed to a dragon? Perhaps not much, but if you want to approach it from a perspective of dream analysis, it's very likely that Lucy's sacrifice has something to do with Lucille Ball's impending divorce and her allowing celebrity to triumph over her personal life. And that's not even saying anything about Vivian Vance and William Frawley playing a two-headed dragon that can't stand being yoked to its other half. Listen to our previous I Love Lucy outing, about how it just might have made the first gay joke in sitcom history. The logo for Weirdest Episode Ever was designed by Ian O'Phelan. The theme music was composed by Nick Loiacano.

Greetings! We are combatting the dead zone that is the holidays with a bonus episode: the fourth of Weirdest Episode Ever, our new Patreon series looking at sitcoms that venture into sci-fi, horror and fantasy. If you like this, you can listen to three other episodes on Patreon, with another six to come in early 2023. They're available for people supporting us at the $5 level or higher. Here's the full list of episodes we have done/will be doing: The Cosby Show, "The Day the Spores Landed" (a.k.a. the male pregnancy episode) I Love Lucy, “Lucy Goes to Scotland" (a.k.a. Lucy gets fed to a dragon) Perfect Strangers, "Aliens" (a.k.a. Balki is an alien) The Facts of Life, "Seven Little Indians" (a.k.a. the Twilight Zone parody) A Family Matters, "Stevil" (a.k.a. Steve Urkel gets a murderous puppet doppelganger) Benson, "Death in a Funny Position" (a.k.a. serial killer cruise ship) Day By Day, "A Very Brady Episode" (a.k.a. a very strange venture into Brady Bunch land) Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place, "Two Guys a Girl and a Psycho Halloween" (a.k.a. Ryan Reynolds murders everyone) Punky Brewster, "The Perils of Punky" (a.k.a. the cave of horrors) The Cosby Show, "Cliff's Nightmare" (a.k.a. Cliff Huxtable vs. Muppets) Here are the details on this Facts of LIfe episode: “Seven Little Indians” (January 3, 1987) It would be ambitious for any sitcom, much less Facts of Life specifically, to attempt a weird episode that not only satirizes 1980s slasher movies but also murder mysteries and also The Twilight Zone. For all that being packed into one 22-minute format, this one actually works pretty well. Lisa Whelchel as Blair — big-haired, wild eyed and caked with makeup — makes for a striking visual that probably traumatized a few kids back in the day. The Facts of Life, previously: Blair Warner Is a Homophone Jo Polniaczek Is a Lesbian Hearththrob The logo for Weirdest Episode Ever + the rad art of psycho killer Blair Warner was designed by Ian O'Phelan. In this episode I chat with the lovely Lucy, writer of the quite frankly awesome Lucy Goes Dating blog. Let me tell you this blog is one of the most consistently funny blogs I’ve ever read, it’s very no nonsense and incredibly well written, I reckon after reading one or two posts you will become addicted just like I did! In this episode we chat about her experiences in the dating game, which includes a very bizarre blind date and we also talk about her blog and just exactly how that exploded.
Lucy Goes Dating is the name of an award winning blog, which unflinchingly describes the relationship triumphs and disasters of a 40-year old singleton. In this interview "Lucy" describes the dating "no no's" every man should avoid, and discusses the differences between what men and women (usually) want.
